Reports over internet
Hello,
I have a very general question about Reports on internet.
I am a long time user of Crystal Report included in Delphi apps, but I have no experience with web design.
I'd like to have some general information about what reporting over the web means. Basically, I want to be able to generate a report on the server and viewing it in a browser or in a normal CR Viewer. I plan to use .NET C# as development environment and latest CR2008.
What this means as 'server'? How the parameters can be send to the .rpt files? Can I have a 'normal' app on the client side?
Thanks for any points,
Ioan
Sharon, thanks for the hint.
This points me to the next question:
Is there a sample of such design?
Ioan

Accessing discoverer viewer over internet
URL's host name is changed when i am clicking to expand report link for work sheet selection. I have installed Oracle 10g AS and discoverer and trying to access work sheets over internet using discoverer viewer.
Hello Michael,
Thank you for your response. I did not changed fully qualified domain name. I am trying to access the discoverer viewer from outside of our LAN through internet. I have configured firewall to allow HTTP trafic to exposed server and mapped public IP and port to local discoverer server (port forwarding) to route discoverer viewer requests to discoverer server. Discover server is in our local domain with local IP address. I am able to view the viewer login and Worksheet list page with public IP in discoverer URL. When i am clicking to expand worksheet in worksheet list page, viewer changes the IP address part of URL to local host name. This local host name is not resolved outside and IE shows the 'Page Not Found' error. Pl suggest the way to resolve this issue.
Thanks,

Exposing BI CMC over internet for BO Mobile
Dear All,
I need to setup BO Mobile 4.1 SP2 and use dashboard reporting over iphone, ipad etc
We are planning to have different hardware for mobile server.
Below are the few queries I had with the BO Mobile team.
1) Planning to use HTTPS for mobile and use tomcat as reverse proxy(HTTPS enabled).
Tomcat would also be from same server. I would be following the notes 1299147. Planning to get certificates singed by CA.
a) Please let me know if any additional configurations need to be followed.
b) Command line for generating key,csr and importing certificates.(In the above note only self signed certificate information is given)
2) HTTPS for BI would be enabled (as per the above note)
3) Should the CMS (BI) server also exposed over the network with public IP address?
Because in the mobile handset configuration I need to give the IP or host name of CMS server.
Please help with relevant info.
Thanks & Regards,
SKumarHI S kumar,
Lets take one step at a time!
First things first!
check with your network team for reverse proxy settings and firewall.
The BI server need not be exposed to internet. Proxy can be used for that.
your application server will route all request coming from your mobile device to the BI Server. So reverse proxy will work for that.
HTTPS needs to be configured on the tomcat server. Also, CA certs need to be signed.
once they are signed. Simply tell your admin to mail them to you.
Acces your mails on your ipad or iphone.
Download the certificate. It will prompt you to be installed.
These steps are mentioned in the admin guide available at help.sap.com

We have a problem with printing crystal report over web using ActiveX Control. When clicking print button, it only shows a blank dialog web crystal viewer page without any error. The page just simply hangs. We installed the PrintControl DLL and enable all the security setting for ActiveX Control for IE. It still does not print. Does anyone know why?
Environment.
Bundle Crystal Report v10

When Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) is enabled, using the ActiveX control to print reports from a Crystal 10 DHTML viewer results in the following error message:
"A communication error occurred, printing will be stopped."
How can this error message be resolved?
Resolution
This is a known issue with Crystal Reports 10 and Crystal Enterprise 10 viewers and has been tracked. The Track ID is ADAPT00282199.
This error occurs due to the receiving application performing a case-sensitive check for the HTTPS request header value "ON". When a sender application sends the value as "on" in lower case, the error occurs. The update below changes the receiving application to be case-insensitive.
Hot Fixes or Service Packs address this issue as indicated below. With the updates, this issue is resolved.
Unless indicated otherwise, Weekly Hot Fix updates from our FTP site have only been tested with English versions of products.
For Crystal Reports 10 and Crystal Enterprise 10, the update for this issue is included in the Crystal 10 Viewers Weekly Hot Fix (WHF). This is available in English only at the following location:
ftp://ftp.crystaldecisions.com/outgoing/EHF/viewers10win_en.zip
This issue is addressed in the following components (and later versions):
PageObjectModel.dll, version 10.0.5.785, dated 8/25/2004
ReportRenderer.dll, version 10.0.5.785, dated 8/25/2004

Displaying report in .pdf format while Running oracle reports over the web
I am running a report over the web via IE. I am suing .pdf
format as the file type. The problem I am facing is that the
report comes out with a blank in acrobat reader if there are
just one or two records - i.e less thatn one pagefull. THe
reports displays output only when there ar more than one
pagefull of records.
Any explanation for this bezarre behavior and any suggestions?
I will very much appreciate your help.

Prasad.in R12 I found 2 choice
1) when submitting requests (if available) you can set the output format by using the Options button (upon sompletion section):
layout --> format --> select format you need (RTF/HTML/EXCEL/PDF)
2) in the request form (view->request) selecr the report you want to reprint in the Tools menu select print/republish, in the html page that pop up select output format you want, number of copies =1 submit

How to control and display video from IP camera using ActiveX control over Internet.
Hello,
I need to control my IP cameras over the internet. I need to log into the cameras and then display the video. There's an ActiveX control registered on the computer and works fine with IE to access and control the cameras. Controlling the cameras using IE works fairly well, but there are some quirks that I'd like to eliminate by using my own custom code.
Has anyone created a vi that controls a Foscam FI8905W over the Internet? I’ve attempted, but I keep getting a catastrophic failure when I try to call ManagementConnect Method in the DVM_IPCam2 ActiveX Control Module V1.0. I'm not sure whether I need to establish an IP connection with the cameras first, or allow the ActiveX control to establish it for me.
Some example code would be greatly appreciated. Running LabVIEW 2011 on a Win7 32bit. Even some code used to control a similar device using ActiveX over Internet would be helpful.I have an example vi for interfacing to the foscam activex.
I plan on using mouse click events within the activex window to trigger the PT function.
I only have the basic up/down/right/left directions and not the down-right/down-left/up-right/up-left in the enum. You can load the camera's web page and view the source to see the Java script code that uses the activex control. There are definitions for the other directions.
I had to mark the control as "Disabled" to keep click events from going to the activex control. If I double click the control, it goes full screen. If I then click on it to get out of full screen mode the video never returns or returns to the wrong spot in the VI.

Two EX90 devices can make video calls over Internet with No VCS-C and VCS-E
Dear Experts;
I have just started TelePresence and VCS 2 weeks before by going through cisco docs and videos and I had taken a risk of implementing the infrastructure elements.
We are now implementing Cisco Tele presence with VCS-C, VCS-E TMS,TCS,MCU and End points with Jabber in One setup.
and in another setup CUCM 10.5,UCCX 10.5 IM&P,Jabber with some 10 agents.
Now the question is In our same building in 2nd floor we have one EX90 and in 5th Floor one EX90 and over LAN we can make video calls using IP address.
In the same way is it possible to make a video call between 2 EX90 devices present in different location in the same city over Internet without the involvement of VCS-C and VCS-E.
Appreciate your valuable reply.
Regards
DebashisThe simple answer to that is NO! Where is the EX90 registered to at the moment? Is it on the VCS? or CUCM

Is there a way to have a Chicken of the vnc type GUI over internet in ARD3?
Hello, to whoever reads this question, thanks in advance if you can help.
My need is this. I regularly use Chicken of the VNC for multiple administration over the internet, but what I like is the possibility to have same IP but Multiple clients with fixed IP (local) behind Firewall, i.e. x.x.x.x:5910 x.x.x.x:5920, x.x.x.x:5930, etc. and i can connect at the same time to the different machines to admin them.
Question: Is there any possibility to have the multiple connections with ARD 3 or even ARD 2 over the internet with same IP?
At one point ARD 3 did work for me like that for about an hour and then it stopped, blocking out 2 of 3 machines in the same IP. I mean, it acutally let me have 2 windows open on the same IP with different ports over internet and was flabbergasted, but then it stopped! when I quitted and restarted, I could do it no more…
I really like ARD, but if I got to manually change the port everytime I log in… yikes…!! I admin 20 machines in 10 different locations, so everytime i gotta log in to machine 'a' then change ports to machine 'b' for 10 locations everyday… well I hope you get the idea.
BTW i tried looking all over the forum, but could not find this info specifically.
PS thank you for your timeI, too, was a bit bummed out by the lack of this feature. I wondered if ARD 3 had some sort of mode Apple themselves used "silently".
There IS a way to make it work, however -- via VPN. I discovered that once I used VPN into my company's intranet, ARD 3's scanner could see EVERY Mac in the company.
Setting up a VPN nowadays is pretty simple -- many routers handle the support for you. OS X's Internet Connect feature makes it trivial to connect to the VPN, once it is properly set up from the inside of the company. -
Copy oracle server data to remote system over internet
Hi,
I am using Redhat 4 linux system as Oracle 10g server. My database is in archivelog mode. I am not good at data guard so i am not using it.
But i want to copy my archive log file to another linux system over internet. so that in case of server crash i can recover my database using backup and archive log files.
It will be best if i can do it at each archive log creation like data guard and ok if it do at a time interval
Please suggest me any tool which can copy data over internet on linux system and it should be free or easy to use.
Thanks

umeshOne tool I can suggest is OS copy command.
I used to use this tool for one of our server which was on SCO Unix with Oracle 7. But there are implications with this:
1. The archives got corrupted frequently during copy, then we need to identify the archives by matching it's size on production and on standby and copy it once again.
2. Manually recover the database after every 15 minutes.
I would suggest to go for oracle managed setup i.e. Standby configuration. It's not tough.

How to transfer more than one files over internet at once?
hi, friends,
I just wonder how to transfer more than one files from one computer to another over internet at once. Not using ftp. pls any one give me the solution. This isn't hard to do, but it depends on your exact need. I did something very similar to let me upload all my mp3 file from home to work using sockets (don't have the code anymore..).
What I did was implement a "pull" approach rather than a "push" approach. In other words, everytime my server got a request from a client, it served up the next file. It didn't know or care that the client was always the same.
If you can set up a server to serve one file when a client attaches, then basically just put that code in a loop.
If this doesn't meet you need, it might still be helpful as a starting point... -
Crystal reports over SAP r/3 tables
I am trying to write a Crystal report over SAP r/3 tables (BSIK and LFA1) with no success.
I have CRpts installed along with the "client side" SAP integration kit. When i try to create a new connection to my development ERP system i am asked to select an available system, but the dialogue box is empty. I can however connect to a SAP BW query successfully using the SAP toolbar that has been added when installing the integration kit.
Is there anywhere a set if instructions to successfully install and configure CRpts to report over SAP r/3 tables ?
Andrew FoxMake sure to define an environment variable called SAPLOGON_INI_FILE in the system your CR designer is installed on. The variable should contain the path to your SAPlogon.ini file including the file name. eg if saplogon.ini is found under c:\Windows then the variable shoud be set to c:\Windows\saplogon.ini . Restart the CR designer and try again.
If the system list remains empty then locate to saplogon.ini file, open it using Notepad and choose the Save as option. All you have to do is to overwrite the existing file (ie. do not change the name) after changing the encoding to UTF-8 (drop-down list at the bottom of the Save as window)

Is there a way to connect to my Time Capsule over internet from an iPad
Hi,
Could anybody please help me configure how to connect to my Time Capsule 3TB over internet from my iPad.
I would like to use it as Cloud station over internet.
I was able to connect from my Mac on both "over internet and from my local network" using "Back to My Mac"
I was able to conncet also from my iPad from my local network.
I bought some file browser Apps which enable iPad to connect as "afp, smb" but I could'nt manage to make it work?
I made all the setting required: Enabling NAT Port Mapping, File Sharing, Sharing Disk over WAN, but without success?!
Shouldn't Apple includes and supports iPad to make such connection like "Back to My Mac" protocol.
I believe that Time Capsule is a great product, but I think Apple should consider more of software compatibilities.
Thanks,,Thanks Bob,
I already tried FileBrowser and I did all the steps as per the instruction on their webpage, but alwasy give error message.
Could it be that "smb" protocol blocked by my internet provider.
I am connecting to internet using DHCP.
Many thanks -

I used to get "Unable to identify the trading partner agreemen" due to below reasions,
1. Agreement is not deployed properly. Please check whether deployed agreement is in active state.
2. While creating the Operational Capability, please check whether initiator and responder defined correctly.
For Outbound, Please check Remote trading partner Is Initiator should be false and Host trading partner Is Initiator should be true.
As far as I know, File name convention should be folllowed for FTP/File and not for HTTP.
