Reports with HTML links to "sub-reports"

I have a main sequence that runs several sequences of tests.  I
would like to have these tests create separate reports and then link
them from my main sequence's report.  I have selected HTML
reporting style.  I have figured out how to link by looking at Teststand\Examples\ModifyingReports\HTMLDiagnosticLinks.
The only thing left is figuring out how to create the "sub-reports"
instead of including the information in the main report.
Any suggestions?
Thanks,

Ray,
I would like to have the sub-reports be the same format as the main report but it is not important if it has a header like the main report has.  I think that it needs to just make a report that will print on 50 pages into something easily readable.  I have already toyed with the idea of a database, but I would still have to create a report of some sort, so if I can modify TestStand's report sequence to do it, that would be even better.
So basically I am dynamically calling a series of selectable tests.  If each of the called tests had their own report liked in to the main test where it was called, that would be great.
So, I'm looking for something like this:
Main Report:
UUT Report

  • Crystal report input prompt..for sub report

    Hi All,
    I developed crystal report and retreived the fields from the exsiting Query.Now for  enhancing the report i must creat a sub report for th eexisting one.In this case iam getting 2 input prompts one for the old report and the other one is for the enhanced sub report .But the requirement is tha t, the report must get only one input prompt for both the reports. Is this can be possible from the Query end or the crystal report end?
    YVL

    Hi Vijayalakshmi
    You can apply just one input parameter for the main report and then link your subreport with this parameter.
    Once you link the subreport, you would get only one prompt for inputting parameter values.
    This way you can optimize the performance of the report as well.
    For more information about linking subreports you can refer to the user guide for the respective crystal reports version you are using.
    Hope this helps!!!

  • Display different footer in main report of SSRS based on sub report

    I have a main report in which there are two sub reports and then those two sub reports each contain one sub-subreport.
    The following will give you an idea
    Main Report
    ----->Sub Report 1
    ------------>Sub Sub Report 1
    ----->Sub Report 2
    ------------>Sub Sub Report 1
    I am trying to display name of subreport in footer of main report depending on which subreport user is currently in. So let's say if user is viewing Sub Report 1 then it should display in footer of main report "Sub Report 1" (this is actually coming
    from database and is not like displaying some static text but for the time being ignore this)
    If user is viewing Sub Sub Report 1 then footer of main report should say "Sub Report 1: Sub Sub Report 1"
    After searching a bit I found out that:
    1. Sub report footer will not be shown in Main report hence this option is ruled out
    2. You cannot pass parameter from sub report to main report so this option is also ruled out
    But looks like you can use Shared Variables between Sub Report and Main Report. I tried to do this but looks like it doesn't work. Here's what I did:
    In my Sub Report 1, I declared a shared variable as below:
    Public Shared Dim sharedVariable as String = "Sub Report 1"
    Now in my Main Report I wrote the following function in code just to test if it prints it on screen on not.
    Public Function PrintSharedVariable() as String
    Return sharedVariable
    End Function
    But when I run this report, it shows error that sharedVariable is not declared in Main Report. How do I use shared variables and will it work in my case?

    Hi Frank,
    According to your description, you want to show the subreport name in the main report. Right?
    In Reporting Services, all the custom code is only work for the current report. The sharedVariable you created in subreport can't be used in main report. That's the reason why it throws the error because there's no sharedVariable in main report. For your
    requirement, the most effective workaround is having a textbox with go to report Action and passing the report name as parameter back to main report.
    If you have any question, please feel free to ask.

  • How to display Report tile html Title on generated report

    Hi
    Could you please give some idea to display Report tile <html Title> on generated report?
    I am not using CrystalReportViewer to export my report
    reportClientDocument = new ReportClientDocument();
    reportClientDocument.setReportAppServer(ReportClientDocument.inprocConnectionString);
    reportClientDocument.open(reportName, OpenReportOptions._openAsReadOnly);
    reportClientDocument.getDatabaseController().setDataSource(
    POJOList, Class.forName(CLASSNAME), TABLE_ALIAS, TABLE_ALIAS);
    byteArrayInputStream = (ByteArrayInputStream) reportClientDocument
    .getPrintOutputController().export(ReportExportFormat.PDF);
    Currently its displaying struts action name as title.
    We are using crystal reports 2008
    Thank you

    Try the following extract of code to set the title:
    SummaryInfo newSummaryInfo = new SummaryInfo(reportClientDocument.getReportDocument().getSummaryInfo());
    newSummaryInfo.setTitle("<new reportName>");
    reportClientDocument.modifySummaryInfo(newSummaryInfo);
    reportClientDocument.save();
    reportClientDocument.close();
    I hope this helps.

  • How to create a table report with alphabetic link at the top

    Hello,
    I have a db table of users, and have created a report based on this table, however I want to have each aphabet letter at the top of the report so that users can click on the letter and see all records where the username field starts with that letter.
    How can I achieve this?
    Thanks,

    Hello user11243298 (please tell us your name),
    Your report query would look something like this (assuming page number is 1):
    select some_column1, some_column2
    from your_user_table
    where username like :P1_INITIAL || '%'
    For the letters at the top of the report, here's a couple options:
    - If you want all letters to appear whether or not there are any rows, you can create a series of buttons or links, one for each letter, and specify the target URL to submit back to the report page, setting the item P1_INITIAL to each letter.
    - If you want only letters that have rows, one way is to create a dynamic LOV based on a query like this:
    select distinct upper(substr(username, 1, 1)) d, distinct upper(substr(username, 1, 1)) v
    from your_user_table
    order by upper(substr(username, 1, 1))
    Then use that for a select list with submit, again targeting the report page and setting P1_INITIAL to the selected value.
    Hope this helps (if it does, please reward it),
    John

  • Display issue with HTML formatted text in report builder

    I am using the FCKeditor in my application to allow endusers
    the ability to create formated text on reports. We curently are
    experiencing 2 issues: 1. If you copy and paste from MS Word
    2003/2007 it will not display the text correclty in the report; 2.
    If you use the FCKeditor toolbar to insert bullets or a numeric
    list it will not align the text correctly on the report. We are
    using Coldfusion 8 with Hotfix 1 and Coldfusion Report Builder's

    Has one experiences this same issue with HTML fields not
    printing correctly using the Report Builder? What other HTML

  • Issue with HTML Links/Images in PDF print

    Hello,
    In a Webi XI report, I'm using HTML to link to other reports or execute javascripts. It works just fine when executing the report but when exporting to PDF, the actual code would appear instead of the correspondent link/image.
    Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

    Hi...
    Try this...
    Go to   /Library/Internet Plug-Ins
    Move the Adobe PDF Browser plugin (or just PDF Browser plugin) to the Trash.
    See if that makes a difference.

  • How to create a report with data using the Crystal Reports for Java SDK

    Hi,
    How do I create a report with data that can be displayed via the Crystal Report for Java SDK and the Viewers API?
    I am writing my own report designer, and would like to use the Crystal Runtime Engine to display my report in DHTML, PDF, and Excel formats.  I can create my own report through the following code snippet:
    ReportClientDocument boReportClientDocument = new ReportClientDocument();
    boReportClientDocument.newDocument();
    However, I cannot find a way to add data elements to the report without specifying an RPT file.  Is this possible?  I seems like it is since the Eclipse Plug In allows you to specify your database parameters when creating an RPT file.
    is there a way to do this through these packages?
    com.crystaldecisions.sdk.occa.report.data
    com.crystaldecisions.sdk.occa.report.definition
    Am I forced to create a RPT file for the different table and column structures I have?
    Thank you in advance for any insights.

                rcd.getReportDefController().getReportObjectController().add(oFieldObject, rcd.getReportDefController().getReportDefinition().getDetailArea().getSections().getSection(0), -1);

  • How to Print a report with 50 columns. Crystal Reports

    Dear Experts,
    I'm Using Crystal Reports 2008. I have a requirement that 50 columns should be placed in a  Single Report with single line . But Page size should be A4 ( While Printing).
    With Page Size A4 I'm able to place 5 columns.
    Is there any possibility to acheave this no matter if number of opages increases
    I Appreciate for the help in this regard.
    But I need to display all the 50 fields (columns) in a single report.
    I Achieved this by changing horizontal width to 70.
    I can Place all the fields in one line.
    But my concern is to print this report in A4 Paper I think its horizontal width will be 11.  from crystal reports itself
    I don't want to use cross tabs nor even use sql expression. Its just a simple display report for all the employees.
    is there any simple way out to Achieve this by paging... or any other method.
    Any help regarding this issue will be appreciated.
    Thanks

    Hi:
       I'm not a expert in crystal report, but I would like help you,  i don't understand if must to show 50 diferrents fields in your report  or same field through 50 columns ?  for exemple:
    first case: You ned diferents fields
    F1                F2                 F3                 ... F50
    item1  F1      Item1 F2         Item1 F3       Item F50
    item2  F1      Ite21 F2         Item2 F3       Item F50
    In this case you must put the 50 fields in the report, just enough small to fit page
    second case: You nedd the same field in 50 columns
    Colum 1      Colum2      Column 50
    item 0          item 11      item 490
    item 1          item 12      item 491
    item 2          item 13      item492
    item 10       item 20      item 500
    inm this case i haven't idea how to make it (sorry)

  • Having problems passing more than one parameter with html:link tag

    Hi guys,
    for my web application Im using Struts. Ive got a database with user details. I would like to get users list and link to the details of each user. I wrote the code and everything is working fine only the users list is repeating as many times as users in the list.
    For ex: I have in the database User1, User2 and User3. I would like to have a result like:
    User1
    User2
    User3
    Instead of it I have the result like:
    User1
    User2
    User3
    User1
    User2
    User3
    User1
    User2
    User3
    What Im doing wrong? Could somebody help me please?
    Thank you in advance
    There is a snippet of the code, which Im using in jsp:
    <code>
    <logic:iterate id="root" name="user">
                   <%
                        java.util.HashMap users = new java.util.HashMap();
                        params.put("user",root);
                        pageContext.setAttribute("usersName", users);
                   %>
                   <html:link name=" usersName " scope="page" page="/name.do">
                        <logic:iterate id="folder" name="user">
                             <bean:write name="folder" /><br>
                        </logic:iterate>
                   </html:link><br>
                   </logic:iterate>
    </code>

    Suggestion: next time you post code use the "CODE" button to put code tags around it. It formats much nicer that way :-)
    You have a nested loop structure here.
    <logic:iterate id="root" name="user">
      <%
        java.util.HashMap users = new java.util.HashMap();
        params.put("user",root);
        pageContext.setAttribute("usersName", users);
      %>
      <html:link name=" usersName " scope="page" page="/name.do">
        <logic:iterate id="folder" name="user">
          <bean:write name="folder" /><br>
        </logic:iterate>
      </html:link><br>
    </logic:iterate>Both loops iterate over your "user".
    Your first loop loops over each user.
    Then your second loop also loops over each user - hence you get number of users * number of users = 3 groups of 3.
    If you have 4 users, you would have 4 groups of 4.
    I only see you setting one parameter: "usersName" What other parameters do you need to pass?
    At a guess, the inner loop is unnecessary, and you want to write the users name as the text for the link, and also use it as a link parameter.
    <logic:iterate id="root" name="user">
      <%
        java.util.HashMap users = new java.util.HashMap();
        params.put("user",root);
        pageContext.setAttribute("usersName", users);
      %>
      <html:link name="usersName" scope="page" page="/name.do">
          <bean:write name="user" /><br>
      </html:link><br>
    </logic:iterate>

  • Single report with multiple queries OR multiple reports with single query

    Hello Experts,
    I have a confusion regarding Live Office connection for many days. I asked many people but did not get a concrete answer. I am re-posting this question here and expecting an answer this time.
    The product versions that I am using are as follows:
    FrontEnd:
      BOE XI 3.1 SP4 FP 4.1
      Xcelsius Enterprise 2008 SP4
    Backend:
      SAP BW 7.0 EHP1
    I have created a dashboard which is getting data from a webi report using LO connections.
    The webi report has five report parts which are populated by five different queries.
    Now my question is, when the five LO connections are refreshed, is the webi report refreshed five times or just once?
    If the report is refreshed five times, then I guess it is better to have five different webi reports containing single report part, because in that way we can prevent same query being executed multiple times.
    SO what is the best practice- to have a single report having multiple queries - OR - to create multiple webi reports with single query?
    Thanks and Regards,
    PASG

    HI
    I think Best Practice is Multiple reports with single query
    Any way If LO connections refresh 5 time the query will refresh 5 timesRegards
    Venkat
