Repository objects vs ddic objects

Hello All,
Can any one explain what is the difference between them?
Thanks,
Vibha

Hi
Data Dictionary Objects are nothing but the objects you see in SE11 Tcodes like
Tables, Views,Domains, Data types, Lock Objects, Search Helps and Type groups etc
Repository means the glossory of all SAP objects like Function Modules, Tables,Transaction codes, Programs and all other SAP related Objects that we use in SAP

    how are repository objects organized

    Hi,
The repository as said earlier is the repository of all objects. It includes DDIC objects too.
But from the functioanlity wise they are different so commonly they are treated differently
Transaction SPAU allows you to process Repository objects needing adjustment. An overview shows all objects that have been modified by you, SAP, an IBU or an SAP partner.

    Hi tooCann,
Some times XML-Repository content in the database gets corrupted (XML not valid) during the upgrade. Therefore some WebDynpro applications (e.g. Universal Worklist (UWL)) may not work properly after the upgrade.
Undeploy your DC  first via SDM and deploy again.

  • Client export for ABAP programs, repository objects cross client objects

    Hello,
Let me first explain the scenario here. Our Development system crashed we are rebuilding the development system from a client export of the production. Client does not want migration etc so the only way we want to do it is through client export.
Now the question is whether cross client objects can really be imported through client export KT, KO, KX requests?
I thought it was possible but after successfully importinng the client export (which was taken using profile SAP_EXPC) of the Production client all the customizing has been imported but non of the ABAP programs have been imported.
Can anyone explain how this is done and if it is possible?
    Steps I performed:
1] Exported Production client with profile SAP_EXPC
2] Imported the 3 requests KT, KO, KX using command line
    tp import <KT req> <SID> U2 client=<my client> pf=<profile path>
    tp import <KX req> <SID> U2 client=<my client> pf=<profile path>
    tp import <KO req> <SID> U2 client=<my client> pf=<profile path>
3] After successful import ran scc7 which finished successfully
    Thank you

You can transport client independent customizing, read sap note [24853 - CC-INFO: Client copy, functionality|https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/24853].
But you cannot transport abap repository objects (abap programs) with a client copy.
Can you explain what you mean by "Our Development system crashed". If you still can happily do client copies to that system, then i really wonder what you mean by crashed...
    Cheers Michael

  • Integration Repository objects

Is it possible to store Integration Repository objects (Data Types,Message Types,Message Interfaces,Message Mappings and Interface Mappings) separately in the repository like (VSS ,CVS etc,.).Some times it will be helpful to merge specific versions of the objects and activate. If i am not wrong i can only see exporting IR objects as a whole and store in the repository.

    Hi Anand,
I dont have a exct answer for it but i can give you a solution.....
the thing is you can export your datatype as XSD and save that XSD at your coninient path.....so once your are in need of datatype you just import that XSD so you can see your datatype there..............so once you have your datatype i dont think it will take much of time to build IR Objects other than Mapping....this too can be solve if you use Java or XSLT Mapping...just have a copy of your pgm in local so that you can make use of it wherever you want ....hope this simplifies your task...f you feel im wrong kindly inform me...

  • Import Repository Objects Question

    Hello experts,
I am using a XI 3.0 SP13 development system. I export some repository objects under a certain namespace to a local file. Then I delete these objects and import the local file back into XI. Strange is, it shows the import is successful, i can see the object list in the "Display Transport" screen, but none of the objects are existing in the namespace.
Any suggestion to solve it ?
    Thanks a lot !

    1. Check if the user XIAPPLUSER is locked
    2. Test connection for SAPSLDAPI & LCRSAPRFC in sm59
    3. Maintain the URL for SLD in transaction SLDAPICUST.
    Do SLDCHECK now.
    If this doesnt work
    1. Check if the user XILDUSER is locked. If not try to reset the password .If it is locked unlock it.
    2. Then, in the exchange Profile http://sap02:50000/exchangeProfile, go to Connection tab and enter the password of XILDUSER again.

  • Biar file import does not import any repository object

    Hi,
I have extracted a Biar file from Business Objects Enterprise XI 2.0 Server and it has size 20 MB. When I import this file into another Server using Import Wizard which has Business Objects Enterprise XI 2.0, the outcome is unfavorable. Inspite of both the source and target system being on same enterprise version (11.5.8.1111) plus both on Service Pack 2 Fix Pack 2.7, the repository objects log within the Import Wizard shows 0 objects imported.
What is the remedy to this situation ?
    Regards,
    Neonevin

    Hello,
Not really that I know of.
Well this is a big problem since we can not export projects easaly between different computers. Or back to the same computer using this metod insted of the whole project fils and associated files.
Also there might be a problem exporting to different editing programs as Premiere.
And Apple do not seem to bother. We have to try to solve problems like this in forums and searching for answers and plugins for hours.
This i think will make us to leave final cut as editing software.
Also this version of final cut x - apart from final cut 7 does not seem to be able to export audio in a proper way.
Especially the audio that can be a little bit lika a worms nest seems to be impossible to export with all or most of the options left. It wants to put everything together in mixes audio tracks.

  • SAP Repository Objects.

    Dear Experts,
I need to save the SAP Repository Objects in the local server as a text file.
    well...this is the scenario..
I am writing a program for the report generation. so when it is executed, the report will be generated and displayed..and at the same time, the " program " (neither a report nor an output) I' ve written in the ABAP editor must also be saved in the local server as a text file automatically and i dont want to use the "save as local file" icon from the ABAP editor.
Is that possible to make it out by coding or in anyway...pls provide a valuable solution.
    Thanks in Advance.
    Kalidass.

    Hi,
Program code will not be downloadable insted of you can download program output in the Presentation server.
I hope if your report output is ALV display after calling the ALV function module you can call the gui_download function module
to download the report to presetations server. For this Fillename should not be changed. File name should be constant one.
In the GUI_DOWNLOAD there exist a FILENAME parameters there you can hard code the file path where the report output has to
download. Let me know for further assitance.

  • Unable to see repository objects in directory

    hi,
i am unable to see repository objects in directory(like message interface, interface mapping).
i have tried cache refresh but the issue still persists.

Check in SLD whether required software component is assigned to your techincal system and business system.
If it is not assigned to required technical and business system:
    1. Assign the Software product to your technical system in SLD.
    2. Add the Software component to your business System in SLD.
    3. Go to Environment -->  Clear SLD Cache in Integration Directoty..
    Then try again.

  • Renaming Integration Repository objects?

    Hello everybody,
is there any way to rename already created integration repository objects (e.g. integration scenarios)? There are some distinct naming conventions for some of the SAP certification programs and some of the content already developed does not adhere to those conventions.
    Thanks for your answers!
    Regards
    Jörg Strebel

The renaming is not given as an option, mainly because of the dependcies that are involved. If renamed, the object dependencies are very difficult to manage.
    1) Copy the objects to new names.
    2) Change the dependencies from bottom up, to point to the new names. Data Types first, then Message Types, then Interfaces, then Mappings etc.
    3) Delete the objects with old names.
    4) Activate the changes.
    Hope this helps,
    Bhanu

    Hi,
In SPAU you will get with modification assistence. just expand the subtree, and follw standard process .
This is to retain the enhancement. If there are any data dictionary related correction go to SPDD.

  • New in Supplement Option: Extending ROB (Repository Object Browser) Reports

To everyone who is subscribed to the Supplement Option of the iDevelopment Accelerators:
On cso.oracle.com you can find a new Technical Bulletin: TB.OR.18 - Extending the Repository Object Browser (ROB) Reports.
The Repository Object Browser (ROB) is a tool included with Oracle Designer / Oracle SCM to access Repository content from a browser. This bulletin describes the mechanisms by which you can extend the ROB tool Designer Element Type reports. Examples of these extensions include: change the existing report for a specific Designer element type, creating a new report for a Designer element type, altering the layout or style for a report, or for the suite of ROB Reports.
Go to http://cso.oracle.com, login, and in the iDevelopment Accelerators Supplements region, select Software Configuration Management, and then Technical Bulletin Library. You will find TB.OR.18 at the bottom.

  • Exact table where the repository objects are stored

    Hi,
In which table the repository objects(Program,FM,Data Element,...) are stored exactly.
I checked in TADIR table, but it's a directory for the repository objects.
    Also checked TRDIR.
Say, If I delete a transport request which contains a report thru a 'Z_delete_request' prgm, I can still see the report in SE38.Ofcourse I have deleted in TADIR also.
