Represent fields from VO, Content type...

Hi! When I put VO field in form then I can choose how to represent it (see: http://www.jetScreenshot.com/demo/20110523-nfx-38kb.jpg).
I want to represent my field from VO in checkbox element. When I choose checkbox element, then I can say - Selected State Value and Unselected State Value (see: http://www.jetScreenshot.com/demo/20110523-ups-36kb.jpg).
In VO also I can say how to represent field. It I can do in Control Hints -> Control Type. But there I can't find where I can say Selected State Value and Unselected State Value? Can anyone say, how can I do that?
If You need more details, please, let me know.
Best regards, Debuger!

please note that this is mapped to the pagedef..

  • How to delete a custom columns from a content-type in Sharepoint Client object model

    I have a windows interface where I create a content-type and then create a column and adds that column to the content-type.
    //availableCT is my content-type where the column is present.
    //get all available fields within this content-type
    FieldCollection fieldColl = availableCT.Fields;
    clientContext.Load(fieldColl);
    clientContext.ExecuteQuery();
    foreach (Field field in fieldColl)
    //columnFromList is the column that is to be deleted
    if (field.InternalName.Equals(columnFromList))
    field.DeleteObject();
    clientContext.ExecuteQuery(); // this throws an exception
    // Additional information: Site columns which are included in content types or on lists cannot be deleted. Please remove all instances of this site column prior to deleting it.

    hi,
    you can use the below code to delete it
    using (ClientContext sourceContext = new ClientContext(cmdSpoSite))
    Web web = sourceContext.Web;
    sourceContext.Load(web);
    sourceContext.Load(web.AvailableContentTypes, type => type.Include(c => c.FieldLinks, c => c.Name));
    sourceContext.ExecuteQuery();
    List<ContentType> ExistingContentType = web.AvailableContentTypes.ToList();
    IEnumerable<ContentType> contentTypesList = ExistingContentType.Where(ct => ct.Name == "<ContentTypeName>");
    ContentType ctype = contentTypesList.ElementAt(0);
    IQueryable<FieldLink> flinks = ctype.FieldLinks.Where(f => f.Name == "<FiledName");
    foreach (FieldLink flink in flinks)
    flink.DeleteObject();
    ctype.Update(true);
    sourceContext.ExecuteQuery();
    The difference being in your code and above code is you are removeing fileds which is eventually is deleting site column but a site column cannot be deleted if is alreday being used. So you need to deled the FieldLink in content type taht way column is removed
    from content type but not from site column.
    Now if you want to delete site column you can use your code to deleted Field.

  • List field vs. Content Type Field - Powershell

    Hello,
    We have a bunch of document libraries where we have a List Column that contains information.  We have recently added a content type to the libraries and would like to copy the information from the List Column to a field in the content type.
    How do I use powershell to refer to these fields?
    If I have the Document Library (List) as a variable $list then I assume that I refer to the field as $list.$column.  But how do I do the same for the document?   How do I iterate through each document in the library to accomplish the same thing
    with a for loop?
    Something like:
    $list = $web.GetList("My List Name")
    foreach ($document in $list)
    $document.Fields["Document Field"] = $list.Fields["List Field"]
    $document.update()
    Any help would be greatly appreciated,
    Matt

    your code should be similar to
    $web=Get-SPWeb http://your_site_url_here
    $list=$web.Lists["List_Name_here"]
    foreach($item in $list.Items)
    #your logic here
    Hope that helps|Amr Fouad|MCTS,MCPD sharePoint 2010

  • 2013 Workflows - Trigger a workflow from a Content Type

    So now that a workflow cannot be triggered from a Content Type, how are people doing this now?
    Any suggestions appreciated.
    Thanks
    J Sykes

    Hi,
    According to your description, my understanding is that you want to trigger a workflow from a Content Type.
    As we all know, we can attach a workflow to a Content Type, but the workflow cannot run until the Content Type is added to a list or library.
    The elements of a list content type include the columns of metadata that are associated with the content type and workflows that can run on items of that content type.
    More information about the content type and workflow are provided in the link below:

  • Not able to crawl all items from External content type

    Hello All,
    "All the records in my external content source are not getting crawled, only 1/3 rd of the data are getting crawled."
    Steps:
    I created "External content type" using sharepoint designer which connects to a SQL Server database.
    Have written a SQL View joining 2 tables, which return 9,00,000 rows when executed using the SQL Server management studio.
    I used the default "Business Data Connectivity Service" and "Search Service Application" and made sure the necessary permissions are set.
    Created a External Content source for the search service application and selected the "Business Data Connectivity Service" -> "Crawl selected External datasource" -> <my external datasource i created in sharepoint designer>
    Issue
    When i ran the full crawl for the first time it crawled "3,49,923" records in 01 hour and 07 seconds. And returned 1 error "Error crawling LOB Contents.(Error caused by exception: System.InvalidOperationException. There is an error in XML
    document...)
    Later i removed the below item from the index and started a full recrawl, this time it crawled "3,49,924" records 1 record extra from my previous crawl
    and no errors were returned.
    Please let me know what could be the issue. It doesn't look like the permission related issues as i am able to crawl the 1/3rd of my total data. Also i am able to search the crawled data. I also set the throtteling limit for the "Business data catalog"
    to -maximum 10000000 -default 1000000 which is less than the data it has to crawl.
    SRIRAM

    Hi ,
    I started the change suggested in the link shared by you, but got stuck at a point,
    The field which i set as identifier in BCS earlier is not having unique values. Total rows returned by the sql view is 899000, but the unique values present in the column that is set as identifier is
    3,49,923, which is equal to the number of rows crawled. - Is this the reason why it didnt crawl all records?
    The table that is used in the sql view has composite key, - Is it possible to have multiple identifier in BCS as well?
    Is it possible to make BCS to ignore the identifier? i mean creating BCS without an identifier column?
    Please let me know your suggestions on this.
    Thanks,
    SRIRAM
    Yes, BCS needs a UID. This is so it can figure out changes over time to a single record. Otherwise all changes to a row could be a potential new row without BCS knowing any better.
    Yes, or just have it run off the composite key instead of the field you're using now.
    Nope, BCS needs a UID field like in answer 1 :)
    Good luck!

  • Missing Columns from List Content Type

    Hi,
    I'm having some strange problems with one of my site collections, I have site content types with a few columns in it and I'm using them in 3 different libraries.
    However recently something happened and it seems the list content types in one of the libraries have stopped using some of the columns set out in the site content type (according to library settings). The columns still show as part of the list (and the metadata
    is still in there), when I've tried adding them back to the list content types, I do not see them in the list columns group, only in their original column group. If I try to add them to the list from their original group I get the errors similar to the following:

    I've tried to make changes to the parent site content type, however those changes to not push down to the library in question. The missing columns have varied types (single line of text, lookup, managed metadata and so forth). All of these content types &
    site columns were created through the user interface of SharePoint.
    Can anyone help me with any ideas what has happened and/or how to fix this problem?

    Hi Hans,
    As I understand, you have custom content type in 3 libraries, while the issue occurs to the columns in this content type.
    I wonder if the issue occurs to other two libraries as well?
    From your description, "I've tried to make changes to the parent site content type, however those changes to not push down to the library in question", do you mean that changes in content type are not reflected to the list which is added to this
    content type. If that is the case, I'd suggest you recreate content type.
    If the site content type works well in other two libraries, please create a new library and add this content type. If it works well, then move the list content to this new list.

  • Fix for issue where update KB2760758 broke multiline text properties field in custom content type

    In September Microsoft Office update KB2760758 caused an issue with the multi-line field used in custom content type used in SharePoint 2010 document libraries.  KB2826026 apparently caused the same issue.
    Users were not be able to save documents on the SP server (in a document library) as MS Word would prompt them with a "Required properties" error message stating: ".. correct the invalid or missing required properties".
    Several sources indicated that this was supposed to be fixed in the December Office updates, but I don't see an update that affects MSO.dll where the problem originates.  Does anyone know which update fixes the issue?

    I updated you on my blog post, but just to provide an update here for those searching, this issue is not fixed in the update to the MSO.DLL available in the Dec 2013 CU, and the product group currently has no ETA on a fix.
    Of course, PSS should update me as soon as they do hear of an ETA from the PG.

  • Required field in custom content type not required in custom list instance

    I have an issue with a custom SharePoint 2013 solution. Among other components, it consists of:
    a feature with several custom fields with different types, some of which are taxonomy fields,
    a feature with three custom content types using different sets of the custom fields with partially different configuration, e.g. whether they are required or not,
    a feature with a custom document library template and instance using two of the custom content types and a default picture library that is programmatically customized when the feature is activated, e.g. it is assigned the third custom content type.
    When deploying the solution and activating the feature, everything is set up correctly except a single taxonomy field for one of the doc lib's content types. It is defined to be required in both content types but indeed it does not show up as required for
    the default content type whereas everything works fine for the other. And it does not matter which of the two custom content types is defined first (= default) in the list template's schema.xml, the issue always occurs for the same taxonomy field in the doc
    lib's default content type. When I use the built-in Document content type as default, the field is required for both custom content types. However, using the Document content type is not an option.
    If you think this behavior is not strange enough: When the list content type's field is set required through the SharePoint UI, it becomes optional again when the list column is updated, e.g. its display name is changed.
    Any ideas?

  • Can't change column order from document content type

    Hi,
    I noticed a strange error in our SharePoint 2010 environment:
    We are using a SharePoint 2010 Enterprise Edition which was migrated from a MOSS 2007 Enterprise Edition with one central document library.
    In this library are several content types plus the given document content type which was already there.
    When I try to edit the column order in the document content type settings the following error occurs:
    Server Error in '/' Application.
    Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
    Description:
    An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and
    where it originated in the code.
    Exception Details:
    System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
    Source Error:
    An unhandled exception was generated during the execution of the current web request. Information regarding the origin and location
    of the exception can be identified using the exception stack trace below.
    Stack Trace:
    [NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.]

    System.Web.UI.Control.LoadRecursive() +65
    System.Web.UI.Page.ProcessRequestMain(Boolean includeStagesBeforeAsyncPoint, Boolean includeStagesAfterAsyncPoint) +2427
    This error only occurs with the document content type. Furthermore I am not able to reproduce this error on other libraries except when
    I am using a template from this library.
    I tried to delete this content type but every time an error occurs which is saying that the content type is still in use. I checked the entire library and all informations from the SharePoint Manager 2010 Tool but the content type is definitely no longer in
    use.
    I appreciate every little bit of help regarding this problem.
    PS:
     There is also another error concerning every content type in this library: I can’t create a new or use the standard Microsoft document information panel template because every time I try to there also occurs an error which
    states out a NullReferenceException regarding the metadata of this library. But that is another story which is next on my to-do list. First I would like to solve the first error concerning the column order.
    Thanks and regards,
    Thomas K.

    Hi TKellner,

  • Microsoft Office update KB2760758 breaks multiline text properties field in custom content type

    Last week SharePoint users have reported issue with multi-line field used in custom content type used in SharePoint 2010 document libraries.
    Users were not be able to save documents on the server (in a document library) as 'word' would prompt them with a "Required properties" error message stating: ".. correct the invalid or missing required properties"
    After some research I found out that removing the following update KB2760758 would fix the problem.
    Obviously this is not an acceptable solution and I would like to know if this issue has been reported and a fix would be issued sooner than later.

    I got an answer already!  So it is a known issue and the update for this particular bug will be released in the Office 2010 December updates.
    It has to do with a bug in MSO.DLL (which we knew already) with versions of the DLL greater than 14.0.710x.xxxx.  You may want to inspect further updates prior to December to validate that they do not contain an updated version of this DLL.  This
    includes security and non-security updates that may be released between now and then.  Every KB has a listing of the DLLs it replaces, so be diligent about checking each update's KB for this particular DLL.

  • Custom checkbox choice field for custom content type in sharepoint

    Hi,
    Created custom choice field as follows:
    <Field
    ID="{GUID}"
    Type="MultiChoice"
    Group="GroupName"
    Name="Division"
    DisplayName="Division"
    Required="TRUE"

    </CHOICES></Field>
    Can anybody let me know how to make choice A and Choice B checkboxes are checked by default?
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thank you,
    AA.

    Hi,
    According to your post, my understanding is that you wanted to set the default value for the custom checkbox choice field.
    You need to add the code:
    <Default>=";#Choice
    A;#Choice B;#"</Default>
    The result is as below:
    <Field
    ID="{41A0820B-9EF4-4913-9A2A-1356F0ADE9B4}"
    Type="MultiChoice"
    Group="A

    DisplayName="Division"
    Required="TRUE"

  • Several content types and default field value

    Hi!
    I have a document library with several custom content types (derived from standard Document type). One of them (CT1) has field with default value. Other content types must not contain this field. And when I upload document, this field has no default value.
    If I make CT1 first (and default) content type in a library, default value appears. Also it works when I add the field to the first content type. But in my solution CT1 must not be the first content type in a library and the field must have default value (and
    other content types must not have this field). Does anybody know how to make it?

    I understood why default value does not work. When we upload document to a library and then see a form with fields, it's not a newform, it's edit form. So when we upload a document, it gets first (default) content type of the library, only default fields
    from this content type are filled. The solution here to fill default fields from other content types is to write itemadded event receiver.

  • Content Types updates not getting pushed to Lists/Libraries Sharepoint 2013

    Hello,
    We have updated Content Type at Content Type Hub(ex. Making columns Hidden/Req...etc..). These changes are pushed to the consumer sites site level Content types but the problem is these changes are not reflecting at List/Library level Content type.
    Is there a way to explicitly push down the changes ?

    http://sharepoint.stackexchange.com/questions/52259/how-to-update-a-deployed-content-type
    perform the changes to the ContentType make sure to push changes to the lists while updating the ContentType.
    For now, you might need to perform some clean-up job here, just to make sure the field is deleted from all the lists, with your Custom ContentType. Use the following PowerShell script for clean-up! Vårsegod :)
    Add-PSSnapin Microsoft.SharePoint.PowerShell -erroraction SilentlyContinue
    $site = Get-SPSite "http://your.site.com"
    foreach($web in $site.AllWebs)
    #iterates through all the Lists
    for ($i = 0; $i -lt $web.Lists.Count; $i++)
    $list = $web.Lists[$i];
    $MyListContentTypes = $list.ContentTypes
    if ($MyListContentTypes -ne $null)
    $ct = $list.ContentTypes["You Desired Content Type Name"]
    if($ct)
    Write-Host "In list Content Type and deleting the field" $ct.Fields["You Field Name"].Id;
    $ct.FieldLinks.Delete($ct.Fields["You Field Name"].Id)
    $ct.Update()
    Edit: How to push down changes to all the Content types via SharePoint Server Object Model:
    using (SPWeb oWebsite = new SPSite("http://MyServer/sites/MySiteCollection/MyWebSite").OpenWeb())
    SPList oList = oWebsite.GetList("MyWebSite/Lists/MyList");
    SPFieldCollection collFields = oWebsite.Fields;
    string strNewColumn = collFields.Add("MyNewColumn", SPFieldType.Text, false);
    SPFieldLink oFieldLink = new SPFieldLink(fields[strNewColumn]);
    SPContentType oContentType = oList.ContentTypes["Specification"];
    oContentType.FieldLinks.Add(oFieldLink);
    oContentType.Update(true);
    Edit 2: Update a Content Type using PowerShell:
    Add-PSSnapin Microsoft.SharePoint.PowerShell -erroraction SilentlyContinue
    //get the specific Root web
    $spweb= Get-SPWeb "http://your.site.com"
    //get the fields collection
    $fields = $spWeb.Fields
    //get the specific field
    $field = $fields.GetFieldByInternalName("Name of you field")
    //get the specific Content Types from Root Web
    $contentType = $spWeb.ContentTypes["You Content Type"]
    //delete a field from a Content Type
    $contentType.FieldLinks.Delete($field)
    //add a field to a Content Type
    $contentType.FieldLinks.Add($field)
    //update the Content Type and push changes to the children
    $contentType.Update($true)http://sharepoint.stackexchange.com/questions/42744/how-to-add-a-field-to-a-contenttype-with-feature-upgrade-for-new-and-existing-shttp://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/office/aa543504%28v=office.14%29.aspx

  • Cannot get rid of default field in a custom content type

    hi guys,
    I have custom content type based on Document Set in a List based on Document Library. I created both using XML declaration in SP solution.
    I have all fields in my content type which I declared, except to defult fields: 'Name' and 'Description'. I need to hide both of them. After I set Inherits="FALSE" in ContentType section in Elements.xml in ContentType description the field
    'Description' goes away. But the field 'Name' marked as required and stays.
    I've also tried to add RemoveFieldRef parameter to the same Elements file, but the field persists. I assume it comes from list definition, not content type. But I cannot figure out how to get this field out from list definition.
    Do I miss something?

    I am assuming that content type's elements.xml file is looking like this
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
    <Elements xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/sharepoint/">
      <!-- Parent ContentType: Document Set (0x0120D520) -->
      <ContentType ID="0x0120D520008d2ff418027e4c31b54d155b98596748"
    Overwrite="True"
    Name="Custom Dossier"
    Group="Custom group"
    Description="Custom dossier"
    Inherits="True"
    Version="0">
        <FieldRefs>
                <FieldRef
    ID="{8D6C094C-3E1F-41f4-BEE3-25B27EE09702}"
    Name="Dossier_Nummer"
    DisplayName="Dossiernummer"
    Required="True"
    />
        </FieldRefs>
        <XmlDocuments>
          <XmlDocument NamespaceURI="http://schemas.microsoft.com/office/documentsets/allowedcontenttypes">
            <act:AllowedContentTypes
    xmlns:act="http://schemas.microsoft.com/office/documentsets/allowedcontenttypes"
    LastModified="05/31/2012 08:46:56">
              <AllowedContentType
    id="0x0101"
    />
              <AllowedContentType
    id="0x0101000490d50c50624b6ca21c637ef39cd89b"
    />
            </act:AllowedContentTypes>
          </XmlDocument>
        </XmlDocuments>
      </ContentType>
    </Elements>
    In the FieldRef  section ,we have  <FieldRef
    ID="{8D6C094C-3E1F-41f4-BEE3-25B27EE09702}"
    Name="Dossier_Nummer"
    DisplayName="Dossiernummer"
    Required="True"
    />  this field is there.
    Try to add ShowInNewForm="TRUE" ShowInEditForm="FALSE" those attributes.
    or    Hidden="FALSE"
    Sorry for the bad English. Could you paste your code.So that we can assist u.
