Reproducible SSH broken pipe problem on git push at East US 2 zone

Hello.
I'm not able to push a git repository of ~12M into East US 2 zone. I receive a "broken pipe" error. (It looks like the connection is really slow in East US 2.)
I've created a script to reproduce the scenario in West Europe and East US 2, and I'm having this problem only in East US 2: https://gist.github.com/dacap/cc9dbf1e1ac46b1ad9ae
Right there you have "create-vms.ps1" script to create both VMs. Then "execute-on-vm.sh" Bash script to create an empty Git repository in the VM. And finally the Git error output I get in the client side when I want to push the repository
into the East US 2 VM. (The West Europe VM works just fine.)

Hi David,
What is the status of the VM in East US 2 in Azure Management portal? Please make sure that it is running.
In addition, you can try to install telnet client on your local computer and run "telnet xxx.cloudapp.net 22" to test the connectivity.
Best regards,
Susie

  • The "alsa audio output error: cannot write: Broken pipe" problem

    [Solved]
(No place for this word in the Subject field, so I put it here.)
    Hi Arch community!
I noticed I have this problem and not sure when in started. Several months ago I bought and installed new videocard "GeForce GT 630". Right after installation I lost sound in the system. Having internal sound card (in mainboard) and SB Audigy2 (PCI), I searched for solution and found I had to disable "snd_hda_intel" module to restore sound to work through PCI sound card. Did it.
    echo "blacklist snd_hda_intel" >> /etc/modprobe.d/no-nvidia-sound.conf
After that sound was working as it should. And I noticed recently that during playing of any sound file the sound interrupts. If run VLC from CLI I get "alsa audio output error: cannot write: Broken pipe" message. And my system hasn't been upgraded since I don't know when. I still ran Firefox 26. So googled again and found it's a bug in a kernel or somewhere else.

I ran a system update last night, and this issue appears to have been corrected.
    ==========================================
And so I thought upgrade would fix my problem since mainstream bug is fixed. After upgrade sound interrupts again, maybe even more often.
Do you guys have this issue and does anyone have a solution?

Not particularly wise to blacklist the module, since it probably is also used by the integrated sound card. With vid and pid you could just disable the nvidia card alone using parameter enable=0. Unless you do not mind having both disabled.
Where do I need to input "enable=0"? When I was searching for solution to make my Creative card work with new nVidia card I installed, the only way I found was blacklisting the module.
    dmesg says:

  • Ssh configuration to avoid connection timeouts / broken pipes ?

I'm running irssi through screen on my server via ssh. Recently, my parents' internet connection has become very dodgy, and because of this, my terminal freezes altogether once every 15 minutes or so, and resumes with some "broken pipe" message after a very long time (around 10 minutes). I usualy just kill the terminal when I notice the freezing and open a new one with another ssh connection, but this seems to be getting more and more frequent, so it's very annoying. I was wondering if there is a way to get around this? Server configuration, client configuration, a different ssh client ... ?
By googling, I found that disabling "TCPKeepAlive" might do the trick, and so I did. It seemed to work at first, my connection was up for about half an hour, but then the same thing occured again
The sadest part of this is that by using puTTY on my phone over 3G, the connection stays up forever, but with the wired broadband, it won't stay up for more than 15 minutes
EDIT: This time I got this message: "Timeout, server <myaddress> not responding", after 29 minutes.

yep, this connection used to be reliable too, but now I get timeouts all the time, and also if I connect the Deluge-GTK to a daemon running on my server, it will randomly freeze and I have to reconnect to get it to work again. Luckily I'm getting out of here tomorrow
Still, it would be nice to solve this problem, because I will be coming here every once in a while... I would call the ISP and complain (I don't think the problem can be with our routers, because ssh connections inside the LAN work just fine), but because it's easter, their customer support is closed Besides, I don't know how to explain the problem to them, because most likely they won't even know what ssh is...
I tried rwd's configs, and they didn't help either. The only difference is that it seems to timeout faster now, instead of freezing the whole terminal for a long time...

  • Inserting broken pipe character in DB from Java creating problem

    Hello experts,
We want to insert a broker pipe character in oracle 10g from java.
But it get changed to pipe character.
We are having japanese client for which we want to maintain this kind of character.
If someone know the solution, please update.

    Hi,
    I understand your explanation.
It is not possible to put actual code, that's complex and coupled with other things.
I like to share the scenario where it failing,
    1. Broken Pipe character(double byte (\u00fa\u0055)) is put along with other japanese long text in a *.txt file.
    2. A java file reads the above *.txt file and inserts the file text in a table column in oracle.
The .txt file is saved in Shift_JIS encoding.
In java file, the same *.txt file is read using 'CP943C' charset and written into database.
So as per your suggestion I have to compare literal first and than if I found broken bar in file, I need to change it with specified unicode.
    Is that so?

  • Java Inflater problem decompressing Git packfile objects

I have a Git packfile that I have saved as a file from the git-upload-pack
command. I want to read through the packfile, decompressing each of the
objects. Each object is compressed in the packfile using zlib compression.
My little inflater procedure works fine for a tiny HelloWorld project. So, I
decided to mix it up a little and use the jEdit source for a larger test. I
am 99% certain the jEdit.git packfile itself is ok as I have passed it
through directly to eGit's Import using an SSH proxy and eGit unpacked it
    just fine.
So, my inflater method decompresses the first 7 objects fine (a commit, a
couple of trees, and several blobs) and a cursory visual inspection of the
decompressed data seems fine. The eighth object becomes a problem, though.
It is a blob with the name build.xml that is 51,060 bytes decompressed
(looking at the original pre-git-pushed jEdit source). The actual file size
matches the decompressed data content size in the packfile object header.
The inflater procedure outputs the decompressed data to System.out for
visual inspection. Approximately the first 1/3 looks like the original
build.xml but after that, the output is garbled. The procedure continues
decompressing objects after the 8th, but garbled, object but it dies on the
9th object with an "unknown compression method" error.
So I created a new test inflater to focus only on decompressing the 8th
object. Simply opening the packfile, copying out the compressed data (7793
bytes), and inflating it yields the same 2/3 garbled xml.
As a further test, I then take the original build.xml file, compress it
using java's Deflater (yielding a 7793 byte array), and then inflate it
using my same procedure and it decompresses fine. All of the xml is
    readable.
Now, I have tried several variations of an inflater procedure, including an
patchwork variation from jGit's WindowCursor.inflate method. But they all
yield the same garbled result for the compressed build.xml data.
    Ideas?

    oops. sorry!

I can't get HP Scan to work. From my investigations, HP failed to update /Library/Image Capture/Support/Hewlett-Packard/Frameworks/HPScanProfiles.framework/Versions/A/ HPScanProfiles to point to /Library/Printers/hp/Frameworks/HPDeviceModel.framework/Versions/4.0/HPDeviceMo del places, vice /HPDeviceModel.framework/Versions/3.0. I can launch HP Scan, but an error comes up, which basically says reinstall the HP software, not the HP Printer Drivers update. I'm still working on that step.
Using the HP Photosmart C4600 Series app, the Printers & Scanners prefPane, or Image Capture, I can get the scanner to work and it saves without any issues.

  • IO Exception: Broken Pipe

    Hi,
I use WLS6.0/Linux. I'm accessing EJBs on the server from a standalone Java

    IO Exception: Broken Pipe
The error has not been reproducible (so far...). Any ideas what causes this
    error?
    thx

I too am having the same problem with using an OAS 9.0.4. server talking to a 9iAS db. I have a Struts application that if you leave the application over night will have broken pipes in the morning. The connections should not have persisted, but might have. This problem only happens when the Servlet is left up and no activity over night.
They claim that no restart of the server or DB happened during that time so I am betting on a timeout somewhere in the system too.
    I have two problems:
One to set up a situation that reproduces the problem.
Two finding out some way through JDBC to effectively test for this situation and
be able to re-create, or re-open a connection to continue processing.

  • Recovering the failed server to the Cluser !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! BROKEN PIPE

    Hi,
I have a weblogic cluster with 2 managed servers on 2 different machines,
Now i have an application.ear which is kept on the first server and while deploying i choose the option "copy to the other server" and i deploy this EAR to the cluster.
Mine is a applet-servlet based application and the applet gets downloaded onto client browser.
Now when both the servers are up load balancing and the failover is also happening. Now the problem is when rejoing the failed server back to the cluster.
I have setup the classpath entries and arguments entries "Remote Start" tab in the server configuration,
I bring back the server through weblogic console and it joins the cluster also without any problem.
The problem is if some users have already opened the application then after rejoining also it works fine.
But if a new user tries to access the applications what happens is

This seems to be a problem with the BEA MS SQL server driver. We switch to
Data Direct and the problem went away.
There were no memory messages in our logs for SQL server.Ok. And this only happens during a big sequence of inserts? Let me see your code,
and please describe the table too. I'll try to duplicate it, but if the data direct driver

I can ping the client machine from the server without a problem.
    Has anybody seen this before?
    Edited by: 982740 on Feb 1, 2013 2:29 AM

    Hi user,
It seems from the log that when the proxy node accepts your client connection the client fails to respond to a ping request down the same pipe. Does this happen consistently? If so, no putAll would ever succeed.
I have to admit I've never seen this behaviour before. I can't see how this would be a firewall port issue, as the connection has been established... the only things I can think of would be a) your weblogic client node is running way to hot and doesn't respond to the grids ping request in time, b) Some very aggressive network infrastructure is killing the connection just after its created, or c) aliens are interfering with your system.
sorry I can't be of more help,
    Andy

  • Snow Leopard unusable with Broken Pipe messages in the console

    Hello
Recently, probably after having installed OS X 10.6.8, I noticed that after a while, something within the OS becomes saturated leading to no new processes being able to be started.  All existing programs continue to run and all seems normal except if a running program needs to call another program (e.g., Mail needing to fetch a password from Keychain Access).
The console then becomes awash with broken pipe messages and a whole bunch of error logs are created for various programs.
This is causing me great irritation as everytime I am forced to restart the machine (sometimes by forcing a hard-reboot).
I would really appreciate any help on this matter.  I would rather not have to completely re-install the OS if I can help it.

I was hoping I'd get a magic solution instead of the dreaded OS reinstall.
That is the magic solution, it gives you a new OS X copy which you immediately update, leaves all your files and programs alone. (unless they have kernel extensions and you need to update those programs)
It's fast, easy and simple, it's Lion "overwrites" that are a pain because it needs the Internet.
There is only one person here that spends his time analyzing such under the hood details and usually has to tell you what I'm saying anyway because that's the only way to correct it.
I'm trying to get you done and out of my way and you back to your life.
I must say that I am quite disappointed with the kernel failing in this way - it is not really in keeping with the robust/Unix reputation...
Don't know what the problem is, it is very robust, but hard drives are based on magnetic bits and those bits fail, the best OS in the world can't stand up if the chair it's standing on is kicked out from underneath it.
OS X only takes 4.5GB, Apple could have incorporates a automatic recovery parttion check upon boot and restored OS X if if didn't boot, but they didn't do that.
Then when they have to place a recovery partiton like in Lion as they are phasing out the optical drive, they make one get online to get a new copy of OS X.
    How stupid is that?

  • Broken pipe error in Sync Send JDBC Receiver:   Extremely Serious issue

    Hi forum,
I have a serious error in a JDBC->XI--> JDBC scenario,
Step1: I use a sender JDBC channel to select some distinct values from  a table say X, and update the same rows,
Query SQL Statement: select distinct Branch from dbo.X where status = 0
Update SQL statement: update dbo.X set Status = 2 where Status = 0
    Step 2: enter BPM
    Step 3: enter a loop
Step 4:make a synchronous call to the same table X, to fetch some records,
    SQL query: select * from X where status = 0 and Branch = i; Update X set status = 9 where Branch = i
Step 5: close loop,  this loop iterates for 5 or 6 times depending on i, which is no. of branches selected by the sender JDBC channel
so all the calls are to the same table, same databsse(SQL Server)
the problem is when this sync calls happens in the loop, it some times gives following error, which i se in RWB:
<b>Error Unable to execute statement for table or stored procedure. 'X' (Structure 'STATEMENT_X') due to com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerException: An exception occurred during the DBComms.transmit operation. Exception:Broken pipe (errno:32). Context:(2217)</b>
i have no way to trace the cause of the error, the database is perfect and the error logs in the SQL server shows no trace of any error,
    Note: It works sometimes
i dont know whom to approach, pls help
the issue is very very serious as its in production system,

    Hi Sudeep,
SAP Note 846079 - XI 3.0 JDBC Receiver: # of Retries on SQL Error w/o Effect
Please check the following SAP note also - 831162
Some info which i found there and can be relevant in to your scenario.....
Q: I am using a JDBC Receiver Adapter in conjunction with the  Lotus Domino Driver for JDBC perform an INSERT or UPDATE operation on a database. When sending a message to the receiver, the Adapter Monitoring shows the following error message:
    "java.sql.SQLException: [Lotus][Domino Driver for JDBC]Invalid cursor state"
Is there a fix for this issue?
A: To work around this JDBC driver problem, activate the Advanced Mode for the respective JDBC Receiver channel and configure the setting "Number of Retries of Database Transaction on SQL Error" to a value > 0. Additionally, make sure that the setting "Database Auto-Commit Enabled" is also active as the Lotus Domino Driver for JDBC does not support transactions.
Apply note 846079 before configuring this scenario.
Q: The TCP/IP connection to my database host is running over an unreliable network connection, i.e. the connection is sometimes interrupted. Consequently, I sporadically receive an SQLException regarding a closed connection in the system trace or audit log or the connection as well as the JDBC Adapter channel are hanging.
How can I work around this connectivity issue?
A: Enable the "Advanced Mode" for the respective JDBC Adapter channel and select the option "Disconnect from Database After Processing each Message".
Note that this might put additional load on your DBMS due to the creation of a new database connection for each message.
I dont have access to a database right now, so i am not able to check this.
Also check the JDBC driver compatability as mentioned in the above note.

I have a strange problem with OSB test console (and sometime with java client). The proxy I built cannot response after several request. In other word, I tried to test console for dozens time, sometime I cannot have response from OSB. I cannot understand why my proxy service stuck in that exception. Can you help me to solve it ?

  • Broken pipe / timeout during slow SQL statement in servlet

I have a servlet which supplies the client with quite a large block of data from an SQL query.
This works fine in a local test environment but I get problems running it under a fully fledged application server environment.
I find a "Broken Pipe" exception on the application log and the client side application gets an application error status code.

We're looking for ways to get the SQL execution time down, but even if we succeed in this case it's a source of instability that will trip us up in the future.
This SQL statment can take up to about 8 minutes to return the first row.
The client is a Java swing program, by the way, not a browser as such.
    Later:
We've got the SQL execution time down and it's working for the time being but it's a problem that's going to hit us again sooner or later. Still looking for a solution.

Refer this url for inserting blob datatype to database.
See the LOBDatatype sample. This sample uses java application but same works for a servlet too.
    http://otn.oracle.com/sample_code/tech/java/sqlj_jdbc/files/advanced/advanced.htm
You can refer source to see how the lob data is inserted.
