    Hi Svet,
I've flashed my laptop with your files, powered down my laptop, loaded the BIOS defaults and the swap works. Thanks!
However, my laptop is experiencing a side effect.
When I plug in a USB external harddisk, I hear a sound prompt and the "Safely Remove Hardware" indicates an exteral drive but thats it. The Autorun dialog doesn't show up and the disk is not visible under "My Computer". I've tried different external harddisks and a different USB port on the laptop but it still doesnt work. A smaller USB thumbdrive works however (as does my USB mouse). Is there an issue with the electrical output of the USB ports i.e. its being reduced to a point where larger devices cannot be recognized?
    Any advice?

Can the BIOS detect the drive? Could be OS related.
Do you have some sort of USB adaptor used?
Check it in "disk management" from control panel, see if its listed there.
Also does they are recognized when you put them in another machine?

  • [GX740] Request: Swap FN/CTRL buttons

I know, you'll need a donation. But with all respect, isn't paying 1100+ euro for the laptop itself more than enough already?
Before I'm giving my version information I would like to have an answer on the above question. Don't call me greedy please.

    Okay, we've got a winner.
I will post my BIOS information soon, after I get my PayPal information straight. What kind of donation do you expect? Something low like 1 dollar, or something like 10+ dollar? What is acceptable for you, because donating only 0,50 dollar would be lame pretty much.

  • [BIOS Bug] Enabling Fn/Ctrl swap breaks [Ctrl]-[Alt]-[Up]

    Hello all!
I'm very used to the standard keyboard layout, where the ctrl key is on the very left. Therefore I enabled the Swap Fn/Ctrl key option in the BIOS of my Lenovo Edge 11 AMD (2545A12, Bios 1.08).
Unfortunately this has the effect, that a very specific key combination is no longer working: Ctrl+Alt+Up
Ctrl-Alt-Down/Left/Right keep working as ususal. The problem does not happen with disabled key swap option.
This clearly seems to be a bug to me. Any hints on how to receive a fix?
    Thanks & Regards
    - Ben

I doubt this is a software/Linux problem. Same effect here under Fedora 15/Gnome: There this key combination is the essential as the desktop is only vertically oriented.
Can anybody try to assign this key combination in Windows, enable Fn/Ctrl swap and report if he shares the problem there?

  • Request U100 BIOS with swapped Fn & Ctrl

    Hi there.
I am looking for the latest BIOS for MSi U100 but which includes the Fn Ctrl keys swap.
I've found it here but the topic is closed.

    Can someone help me ?
    Regards.

I'm using Linux Fedora on which I can not control brightness using Fn+F4/F5. I've tested Gnome and Xfce.
The only way to control brightness is using command line :
     echo 8 > /sys/class/backlight/acpi_video0/brightness
(you can enter a number from 0 to 8)
With Ubuntu 14.04 LiveCD controlling brightness using Fn+F4/F5 works well so for me it is a Linux distribution issue.
Nevertheless, with Bios .10A I could not use any Linux at all, there was a real bug with brightness control which Bios .10G has fixed.
The bug I'm talking about is described here :
    https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/pm-utils/+bug/447764
Please note that Bios .10G FIXES this bug. The problem I'm encountering now is different, and only reproducible with Fedora. Ubuntu LiveCD is OK.
Many thanks to you Svet. I do not regret my donation !

I am having trouble getting this to work. I created the bootable USB key using the MSI USB Tool and selected the .rar you provided me. It said the operation completed successfully, but when I try to boot from it I just get the black screen with the blinking _. Any ideas?
Use "Fix My USB key" Tool's option 1st to adjust USB key geometry,
then repeat the same steps and try again

  • I need an option to remap reprogram or swap the ctrl and function keys on my laptop

    Open letter to Lenovo
How many Lenovo laptop users does it take to get a change or option added to remap, reassign, reprogram or swap the two keys on the lower left of the keybards with each other?
The number one question I'm asked (and the first question I asked of a lenovo laptop user) was how long did it take to get used to the function key being in the wrong place on the keyboard?  I did a search on the web and found a number of threads that discussed and talked about if it were possible to switch those two keys on the keyboard such as this: http://www.ashbaughonline.com/2006/08/12/thinkpad-fn-ctrl-key/   The point being is there are many lenovo laptop users that would love to have the option at least of swapping the function and ctrl key location on the keyboard and we wouldn't even complain that the key names were wrong afterwards if it were made available in some BIOS or other configuration setting.
Lenovo, how many users would need to ask for this option to make it happen?
Please add me to those who would like to see this happen and to anyone else please reply and chime in.

I have the same problem, and I really can't understand why do they do such things! I even can't get a normal answer from Lenovo about it. I like Thinkpads, they are great designed & they have a lot of unique features, most of them could be customized, exept this! Why??? I can't belive that it's so hard to remap 2 buttons using BIOS! The problem is that the FN key doesn't generate a scan code, which could be recognized by the software, i tried numerous programs to remap the FN button, but it's useless. You can do it only in 2 ways: 1. mechanical - to swap them fisically, but it's hard, dangerous & the warranty will be lost of course. 2. BIOS remapping which can be done only by Lenovo or maybe by somobody, who can hack the BIOS. So, Dear Lenovo Experts PLEASE do this feature for us, we REALLY neeed it! We need it much more than "keyboard customizer", more than "easy eject", more than "media center" becouse we use the left CTRL button every minute, working on your notebook!

  • [Request] Snapping Behaviour (Ctrl Toggle On|Off)

Can we please have an option in Preferences to disable CTRL key from toggling Snap mode?
This is quite annoying, as currently holding CTRL-Shift to drag duplicate an object or selection with Snapping on, you can't just drag to to i.e. the Grid.
And yet, if Snapping is disabled, it WILL snap to the Grid when CTRL-dragging.
So we're stuck with toggling Snap constantly while working, which isn't very nice and is counter-intuitive.
Promoting the CTRL toggle as a user preference seems like the simplest way to fix this, without breaking things for people who actually like it as is.

I think this is a great suggestion.  I'm one who most often runs with Snap disabled myself, and I DO expect the Control key to enable snapping temporarily, but I can easily see the merit in disallowing Snap entirely.
I have one in return:  There's another forum site, if you haven't already found it, where Adobe looks for feature ideas.  It might not be a bad idea to post it there as well.
