[REQUEST] Unity's/Compiz Modal Dialog plugin

Hello,
Would it be possible to get Unity's/Compiz's Modal Dialogs on Arch? I'm not that much of a programmer myself, but to me it seems like you'd have to install Ubuntu's Compiz package. It still is a plugin though, so I got some hope that some of you could still write a PKGBUILD for this. Sorry for not including the dependencies and such, but that is because of the above reason.
Thanks for your time!

i would bet that if you wait a while smspillaz (the head developer of Compiz, who works for Canonical now) will probably push this plugin into master (git). probably once he feels that it is stable...
One example; i first saw the 'grid' plugin's FX (the animated frames) appear in Unity, then a while later it was merged into git/master.
I'm sure if you mentioned interest either at his blog;
http://smspillaz.wordpress.com/
visit his youtube channel, and message/comment about it.
http://www.youtube.com/user/smSpillaz
or contact compiz-devs some other way... you could put it out there more directly. i don't think posting in the Arch forums will have any impact at all, on what plugins are pulled from Unity into Compiz. sure someone might make a pkgbuild, but it probably is something that should be done upstream and like i said - this will most likely be added to the master branch, you probably won't even need to get in contact at all.
if you look at the compiz.org cgit/gitweb logs, you'll see that compiz-devs merge into master/git from other branches all the time. they merge to master from a few branches such as the bzr branch, where this plugin currently is currently living, launchpad ~unity-team, etc.

that's my 2 cents, cheerz

  • Plugin fails to display modal dialog with ActiveX'ed bean

    I have first posted this in the ActiveX bridge group, and have gotten no response. Since the plugin group also has posts on modal dialogs, thought this is also correct to post here. Both plugin and ActiveX'ed beans use beans.ocx for display.
    I have a bean wrapped as ActiveX with sun.beans.ole.Packager. The bean provides a method, which ultimately will pop up a modal confirm dialog (JOptionPane.showConfirmDialog(.)).
    If the method is triggered solely from within the bean, say via a click on a bean's button, all is well.
    If the method is triggered from its host (VB form), the
    - the call is done on the main thread. The confirm dialog shows, but when I click on one of its buttons, the app hangs.
    - If I try to pass the call into the event dispatch thread (SwingUtilities.invokeAndWait(.)), the confirm dialog somewhat pops up, but does not paint completely and the app hangs.
    - If I try to pass the call into the event dispatch thread with SwingUtilities.invokeLater(.) all is well, the confirm dialog pops up, I can click on its buttons, etc. but the function returns to VB too early, which is not what I want since I need the answer.
    - I have tried the following:
    entry method determines it is not on the event dispatch thread.
    Tries itself with invokeLater(.), yields the current thread and calls wait(.).
    The method invoked later will execute in the event dispatch thread, popup the confirm dialog and when finished will do a notifyAll(.).
    Unfortunately, what happens is that the entry thread (the main thread) puts the invokeLater into the event dispatch queue, yields itself and wait()'s. And waits and waits. In the meantime, the dispatch thread will get to the point where it wants to show the confirm dialog, but will then hang. If I time out the wait in the main thread, then the confirm dialog is popped up immediately after the wait finishes with the time-out.
    Sooo, this tells me that there is some strange synchronization going on which causes something like a deadlock. Is there any good approach to triggering modal dialogs from a native app hosting the ActiveX'ed bean??
    I have found many entries on probs with modal dialogs in the plug-in, which relate to applets. But no solution yet.
    Some keywords that I have came across are:
    - the event dispatch queue can be flushed and "empty events" can be posted into it. Also, the invokeAndWait(.) will register a "conditional" message pump on the event queue that seems to work until the locking condition is no longer valid. Any experience with these? Any way to manipulate (a) main thread, (b) event dispatch queue, (c) event dispatch thread to resolve the apparent deadlock?
    - There seems to be some difference in locking when the parent process is VB/COM as when it is Java. I have the impression that the main thread has some lock until the call made from VB/COM is fully completed and the call stack cleaned up. Can anyone confirm this? And/or suggest a way around it?
    Sylvia

    Sylvia - I found your posting because I have a similar problem in which a JavaBean wrapped using the Packager needs to call a Visual Basic event subroutine from a thread other than the main thread.
    This, I have discovered, is not supported in VB unless you use special thread marshalling calls (not available to the Java bean) or event queuing calls (ditto, afaik).
    My point is that this may be related to your problem. Check this Microsnot document on their public support site:

  • Cannot handle request because a modal dialog or alert is active?

    Trying to edit using InCopy but can't download the file from the designer because I get this message: cannot handle request because a modal dialog or alert is active

    That means exactly that: there is another dialog on the screen that asks for an OK, or Cancel etc. Dismiss this dialog first.

  • Cannot handle the request because a modal dialog or alert is active in indesign CS6, C#

    Hello,
    I'm having bunch of indesign CS6 files. I have written piece of code in C# which opens indesign files & exports those files to xml & pdf. If I run the exe, it works properly. But when I schedule it via task scheduler (runs at point of time without
    human intervention), it throws an error "Cannot handle the request because a modal dialog or alert is active" which results in failure of my process. This error keeps me annoying. So how to over come this error?
    Any help would be grateful. Thanks in advance.

    Hello,
    Thank you for your post.
    But your issue is out of support range of VS General Question forum which mainly discusses the usage issue of Visual Studio IDE such as
    WPF & SL designer, Visual Studio Guidance Automation Toolkit, Developer Documentation and Help System
    and Visual Studio Editor.
    Because your issue is involved to InDesign CS6 which is third-party, we don’t support it, so I will move it to Off-topic forum.

  • Skillbuilders modal dialog - condition for parent page dialog

    Hi
    When using this awesome plugin, I have a dynamic action on my calling page that deals with the selection from the dialog.
    It uses
    Select type:DOM Object
    DOM Object: document
    Condition: javascript expression
    ($v('P110_PROD_SEARCH') == 'BLAH')
    where the js expression is making sure I run the correct dynamic action, particularly when I have a few buttons on the page invoking different variations of the modal dialog.
    My first action is some javascript that interrogates the value of
    this.data.modalPageCloseValue
    this helps me make decisions in later actions on whether to run some pl/sql, for instance
    In light of a recent question of mine regarding a potential APEX bug (Display item with HTML affected by dynamic action and since we can't put conditions on actions - I was wondering if I could incorporate something into my dynamic action condition to stop the entire dynamic action from executing if modalPageCloseValue is null - but it seems to be out of scope?
    Scott

    Scott,
    You're current condition is:
    $v('P110_PROD_SEARCH') == 'BLAH'Just change that to:
    $v('P110_PROD_SEARCH') == 'BLAH' && this.data.modalPageCloseValueRegards,

  • Skillbuilders modal page plugin

    Hi!
    Is it possible to implement modal inside another modal? I am using Skillbuilders modal page plugin 2.0, APEX 4.0.2. version.
    If it is, can someone explain how in short notes...
    I have a form in modal, which would have a create button to open another form in modal, pass values there and submit, and then go back to parent modal. I tried to implement it and it not works
    By the way, I use APEX 4.2 at home and plugin is working great on all themes that I tried. But now, on other computer I am using 4.0.2 APEX and with theme 16 I have some problems with size. E.g. the form width is big. I tried everything... Also tried fixed modal size. Looks good, but the problem is when error message appears then it is not resized automatically and you cannot see whole content. Maybe someone have solution for this... I will put it online when I get.
    Thanks!

    Hi Spooky,
    This is not currently possible, but it's on the list of enhancements. Hopefully it will not be too difficult.
    Regarding older versions of APEX, I've had those issues too. There's an older version of the plug-in, use jQuery Dialog over Colorbox, that works better. If you email me directly I'll send you a copy of the older version.

  • Module Pool - Error message on a Modal Dialog screen with input

    Hello All,
    I have a modal dialog screen which is called on F4 help of a input field. This dialog screen has radio buttons on it to select. On selection, we check if the user is authorized to that option. If not, raise and error message with command MESSAGE msgid.....
    When the error message pops-up and when clicked ok on it, the radio buttons on the modal dialog screen gets disabled. I want to have the modal dialog box to be able to accept the new radio button as input.
    Can anyone please suggest.
    Thanks,
    Smita

    Put all of your Radio buttons in the CHAIN ... ENDCHAIN with one module.
    CHAIN.
        FIELD rb1.
        FIELD rb2.
        FIELD rb3.
        MODULE check_chain ON CHAIN-REQUEST.   "<< implement logic in check_Chain
      ENDCHAIN.
    If you want, you can even disable the options before displaying the screen. Do all necessary checks in the PBO and based on that disable the options.

  • Error while opening modal (skillbuilder plugin)  page on page load

    Hi all,
    I'm using 4.2.1. ( on 11GR2 ), theme 25.
    Skillbuilder Modal page plugin v2
    Modal pages are working great, on all kinds of events, but if I try to open one via a D.A. on page load it fails with "Uncaught TypeError: Object load has no method 'stopImmediatePropagation' " error (in the browser console).
    <edit>
    just found that this error is caused by the "cancel event" DA action which should be fired after the open modal dialog action. If I ommit this cancel event the modal page is not loaded but also no error is shown.
    </edit>
    Any ideas on how to fix this? In the end I just want to open a modal window after the page is loaded depending on the value of an item set when loading the page ( the branch sets an item value to indicate that the modal window should be opend ).
    Regards
    Bas

    Narrowed it down to change in behaviour between APEX 4.1 and APEX 4.2
    Page source for both versions is alsmost similar, besides the different APEX js libraries being loaded, so probably the source of the problem is somehow in there.

  • How to get the Id of the component that caused modal dialog to terminate?

    Hi,
    I am developing a plugin for Acrobat. The plugin will have menu item. On clicking menu item a modal dialog will be opened. I am using DialogBox method to create modal dialog. But this method returns value which is the call to the EndDialog function used to terminate the dialog box. This means that on success it will always return 0.
    But I want the ID of the component in the dialog which caused the dialog to terminate. What I mean is that I want that if Ok button in the dialog was clicked and dialog terminated then DialogBox method must return the ID of the Ok button.
    Is there any other function that can be used to create dialog in Acrobat on windows??
    Thanks.

    Acrobat no longer has any API to dialog creation in a plug-in. So the question of knowing which of your buttons terminated the dialog is part of the API or library you actually use to do the display. If you are talking about the behaviour of the Windows GDI API, it's up to you what code to pass to EndDialog in your callbacks, when processing the BN_CLICKED notification. Personally I pass the control ID. If you are using a higher level wrapper it will be a function of that, but knowing what button closed a dialog is a basic need that any library should satisfy.

  • Howto create non-modal dialogs using ADF Faces

    I would like to use Dialogs in a non-modal manner.
    Trying to use
    <af:commandLink useWindow="true" action="dialog:infoPopup" blocking="false">
    <af:setActionListener from="#{row.xyId}" to="#{infoPopup.currentId}" />
    </af:commandLink>
    doesn't work as expected. I'll get the dialog, but I can't use the page behind it.
    Alternatively I tried to show the page using Javascript opening the pageInfo.faces, but here I have an order problem. The onClick event is processed first and the #{infoPopup.currentId} will be populated after rendering the JSF page. But I want to show infos depending on the xyId.
    Is there any other way to open windows/dialogs?
    Thanks in advance
    Stephan

    The "blocking" attribute basically just blocks you from clicking the commandLink or commandButton twice (or more) before the first click has been processed by the server and a response has been received.
    It is a very good util for avoiding those unwanted IndexOutOfBoundsExcepions when a user hits many buttons thus sending multiple requests to the server.
    By the way, I'd like to see the answer to the non-modal dialog window, because we have a need for them, too.
    Kind regards,
    dj

  • Modal dialog issue - very urgent

    Hi everyone,
    i'm working with indesign application under asp.net. I'm using Interop.InDesign.dll. I'm able to open Indesign, but when i try to change UserInteractionLevel, then application returns error "Cannot handle the request because a modal dialog or alert is active." I can't see what modal dialog is opened because, i can't see Indesign window. It is runing in asp.net context.
    When i'm opening manually Indesign then none of the modal dialogs is active.
    My code:
    Type indAppType = Type.GetTypeFromProgID("InDesign.Application");
    objInDesign = (InDesign.Application)Activator.CreateInstance(indAppType, true);
    objInDesign.ScriptPreferences.UserInteractionLevel = idUserInteractionLevels.idNeverInteract;
    Do you have any solutuion for it ?
    Thanks.
    Regards

    I have similar issues.
    Initially this was caused by the splash dialog that appears the first time a user launches InDesign.  Logging in with the credientals used to launch InDesign, and checking the "Dont show again" checkbox cleared it up for me.
    Later, I ran into the problem again when InDesign was trying to recover some autosaved files.
    This was cleared up by deleting the recovered file information from the accounts AppData folder.
    I'm now getting this error again, but so far I dont know why. I have no Idea what modal dialog InDesign is trying to display.  How can I tell?
    I've got to say, I'm very disapointed with this behavior.
    If a programmer sets ScriptPreferences.UserInteractionLevel to InDesign.idUserInteractionLevels.idNeverInteract;  this should inform InDesign that its launch is part of an automated process; there is no user available to press anything, and there is likely not a desktop to display anything.
    It is far more important for InDesign to respect the ScriptPreferences.UserInteractionLevel than to try and recover documents or display a welcome dialog.
    But since we are stuck with this exception, I have the following questions:
    Is there a way to programmatically dismiss the splash "Welcome" dialog via script command?
    Is there a way to programmatically respond to the dialog that is displayed when InDesign has recovered documents?
    Is there a way to programmatically determine what modal dialog is causing the exception? (app.Dialogs is empty)
    Thanks!

  • Problem closing a modal dialog in SharePoint 2013

    I have an application page which is opened in a modal dialog in SharePoint. In this dialog I open a document with: createNewDocumentWithProgID
    and afterwards when I want to close the dialog there is a problem using the call:
    SP.SOD.execute('sp.ui.dialog.js', 'SP.UI.ModalDialog.commonModalDialogClose', 1, 'Selected');
    The call itself works in some contexts when I use it with "SP.SOD.execute", but it always causes other javascript errors to be thrown, and these errors sometimes causes problems with the application page. Below are the error messages and code, but
    my question essentially is: What is causing javascript errors in SharePoint after the close modal javascript function is called?
    The errors that occur in javascipts after commonModalDialogClose has been called are:
    Unhandled exception at line 4118, column 17 in http://sp2013server/_layouts/15/init.debug.js?rev=hd6vYIlQjxmYnM/9RloMJA==
    0x800a138f - JavaScript runtime error: Object expected
    The javascript code snippet which throws the error (in init.debug.js ?):
    for (i = 0; i < am; i++) {
                    sodDep = mll[i];
                    if (!IsSodLoaded(sodDep) && (bSync || sodDep.state != Sods.loading)) {
                        LoadSodInternal(sodDep, bSync);
    And this error:
    Unhandled exception at line 1270, column 5 in http://sp2013server/_layouts/15/init.debug.js?rev=hd6vYIlQjxmYnM/9RloMJA==
    0x800a138f - JavaScript runtime error: Unable to get property 'caller' of undefined or null reference
    The javascript code snippet which throws the error (in init.debug.js ?):
    function ULSOnError(msg, url, line) {
        return ULSSendExceptionImpl(msg, url, line, ULSOnError.caller);
    The problem which sometimes occurs in the application page because of these javascript errors is that something in the page becomes null after the errors occur. And then a null reference exception is thrown and the dialog will not close, instead an error message
    is shown. The null reference exception is like this (could be that the web request has become null?):
    "Server Error in '/' Application.
    Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
    An unhandled exception was generated during the execution of the current web request. Information regarding the origin and location of the exception can be identified using the exception stack trace below."
    Stacktrace:
    [NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.]

    Hi,
    Based on your description, when you use JavaScript close dialogue function in SharePoint, it occurs error.
    In SharePoint 2013, I suggest you can use the JavaScript like below:
    SP.SOD.executeFunc('sp.js', 'SP.ClientContext', closeModalDialog);
    Here is a detailed article for your reference:
    https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj245759.aspx

  • Modal dialog in Premiere Pro (using AE SDK)

    Hello all,
    I have a plugin that does some long, intensive processing inside a single render call. I show my own progress bar in a modal dialog while this happens.
    This is working fine in After Effects, but it's causing a crash in Premiere Pro. I get a few messages through the WndProc but then they just stop coming. I've attached some code below. Does anyone have any idea what might be going on there?
    many thanks for any help,
    Hugh
    Here's the code that creates the dialog:
    //assume host window is foregrounded
    hostWindow = GetForegroundWindow();
    // also tried HWND hwnd; PF_GET_PLATFORM_DATA(PF_PlatData_MAIN_WND, &hwnd);
    hDlg = CreateDialog(theDLL, MAKEINTRESOURCE(IDD_PROGRESS), hostWindow, reinterpret_cast<DLGPROC>(DlgProc));
    SetWindowLongPtr(hDlg, GWLP_USERDATA, (LONG_PTR)this);
    CenterDialog();
    ShowWindow(hDlg, SW_SHOW); UpdateWindow(hDlg);
    SetForegroundWindow(hDlg); BringWindowToTop(hDlg);
    hProgress = GetDlgItem(hDlg, IDC_PROGRESS1);
    SendMessage(hProgress, PBM_SETRANGE, 0, MAKELPARAM(0, total));
    and here's the window proc:
    static LRESULT CALLBACK DlgProc(HWND hWndDlg, UINT Msg, WPARAM wParam, LPARAM lParam)
    ProgressDialog *myOwner = (ProgressDialog*)GetWindowLongPtr(hWndDlg, GWLP_USERDATA);
    switch(Msg)
    case WM_INITDIALOG:
            case WM_WINDOWPOSCHANGING:
    return TRUE;
    case WM_NCLBUTTONDOWN: //prevent user moving the dialog box
    if (HTCAPTION == wParam) return TRUE;
    else return FALSE;
    case WM_COMMAND:
    switch(wParam)
    case IDOK:
    return TRUE;
    case IDCANCEL:
    myOwner->cancelled=true;
    return TRUE;
    break;
    return FALSE;

    Here's the code that is called periodically inside my processing to run the message pump, in case that's helpful:
    SendMessage(hProgress, PBM_SETPOS, pos, 0);
    HWND hProgText = GetDlgItem(hDlg, IDC_TEXT_PROG);
    std::stringstream myStr;
    myStr << "Frame " << pos << "/" << total;
    SetWindowText(hProgText, myStr.str().c_str());
    MSG Msg;
    SendMessage(hostWindow,WM_ENTERIDLE,0,0L);
    while (PeekMessage(&Msg, hDlg, 0, 0, TRUE)) {
    if (!IsDialogMessage(hDlg, &Msg)) {
    TranslateMessage(&Msg); DispatchMessage(&Msg);

  • Jquery Modal Dialog - passing item values

    Hi Everyone,
    I know...there are a lot of information about how to implement modal dialog form.....but I cannot find an answer on how to deal with my situation.
    What I am trying to achieve is to create a form in apex page, assign items to this form , add Jquery script to the page header where I am going to call this form into modal dialog ..... fill out items in modal dialog and when click on "Create" - insert value of the items into my table.
    Yes, this is common thing to do (like here http://shijesh.wordpress.com/2010/04/10/jquery-modal-form-in-apex-4 )....but I am trying to find a way where I don't need to create function for my "Crete" button which will call OnDemand Process. Anyways, here is what and how I am trying to do this and please correct me where I am wrong.
    *1.* I do have a table called "inventory_modal", ID column has a PK and trigger/sequence is there too.
    *2.* Do have a page with Form Region with data entry based on my table and Static ID "myModalForm".
    *3.* Do have items assigned to my From Region :
    :P23_ID (hidden):P23_INVENTORY_DATE (data picker)
    :P23_ASSET_ID (number)
    :P23_CONDITION (text field)
    :P23_INVENTORY_OWNER (text field)
    :P23_STATUS (text field)
    :P23_LOCATION (text field)
    :P23_COMMENTS (text field)>
    *4.* Do have a button called "Open Modal" to open my form in dialog window with redirect to URL: javascript:openForm();*5.* Do have an On Submit - After Computations and Validations process
    insert into inventory_modal  (id, inventory_date, asset_id, condition, inventory_owner, status, location, comments)
                   values (:P23_ID, to_date(:P23_INVENTORY_DATE,'&APP_DATETIME_FORMAT.'), :P23_ASSET_ID, :P23_CONDITION,
                              :P23_INVENTORY_OWNER, :P23_STATUS, :P23_LOCATION, :P23_COMMENTS); the process is Conditional with Request = Expression1 , where Expresseion1 is set to "CREATE".
    *6.* And here is HTML Header Jquery script where I am calling "myModalForm" form to open in dialog window and by selecting "Create" button passing "CREATE" vallue back to page which should fire my process to insert data:
    <link rel="stylesheet" href = "http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jqueryui/1.7.2/themes/
    redmond/jquery-ui.css" type="text/css" />
    <script src="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.4.2/jquery.js"> </script>
    <script src="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jqueryui/1.7.2/jquery-ui.js"> </script>
    <script type="text/javascript">
    $( function() {
       $('#myModalForm').dialog(
            modal : true ,
            autoOpen : false ,
            buttons  : {
                Cancel : function() {$(this).dialog("close")},
                Create : function() {$(this).dialog("close");doSubmit('CREATE')}
    function openForm()
        $('#myModalForm').dialog('open');
    So, and here is my question. I don't want to use any OnDemand Process, I would like dialog window to pass values to my regular procedure in my page. I had an assumption that Create : function() {$(this).dialog("close");doSubmit('CREATE')} will do the trick but apparently it doesn't. Is there any way to do it?
    Here is my testing page : http://apex.oracle.com/pls/apex/f?p=39330:23
    If you click on Open Modal, it will open my form in modal dialog window, on create it will send "CREATE" request to my procedure which will insert data into table....but it unfortunately it will insert only NULLS into my table (only ID column will have data as it has trigger/sequence). So, click Create and then refresh the page.
    Thanks

    Hi Jari,
    Thanks for your surrestion.
    I am not exactly sure on how to set ajax item session, does this looks ok for whatever I want to do?
    <script type="text/javascript">
    $( function() {
       $('#myModalForm').dialog(
            modal : true ,
            autoOpen : false ,
            buttons  : {
                Cancel : function() {$(this).dialog("close")},
                Create : function() {
                                              ajaxRequest.add('P23_ID',html_GetElement('P23_ID').value);
                                              ajaxRequest.add('P23_INVENTORY_DATE',html_GetElement('P23_INVENTORY_DATE').value);
                                              ajaxRequest.add('P23_ASSET_ID',html_GetElement('P23_ASSET_ID').value);
                                              ajaxRequest.add('P23_CONDITION',html_GetElement('P23_CONDITION').value);
                                              ajaxRequest.add('P23_INVENTORY_OWNER ',html_GetElement('P23_INVENTORY_OWNER ').value);
                                              ajaxRequest.add('P23_STATUS',html_GetElement('P23_STATUS').value);
                                              ajaxRequest.add('P23_LOCATION',html_GetElement('P23_LOCATION').value);
                                              ajaxRequest.add('P23_COMMENTS',html_GetElement('P23_COMMENTS').value);
                                              ajaxResult = ajaxRequest.get();
                                              $(this).dialog("close");
                                              doSubmit('CREATE');}
    function openForm()
        $('#myModalForm').dialog('open');
    </script>
