Requesting user/session info causing error

The provider application consists of 4 PDK .jar files (pdkjava.jar ptlshare.jar regexp.jar tidy.jar) among other things. It was working fine until User/Session info (per login) was requested. Now the following error is returned when adding a portlet page:
The following error occurred when attempting to call the initSession of the Web Provider: DOCMEIPURLSUN
SOAP-ENV:Server.Exception, , java.lang.NullPointerException at oracle.portal.provider.v2.http.URLProviderInstance.initSession(Unknown Source) at oracle.webdb.provider.v2.adapter.soapV1.ProviderAdapter.initSession(Unknown Source) at java.lang.reflect.Method.invoke(Native Method) at oracle.webdb.provider.v2.utils.soap.SOAPProcessor.doMethodCall(Unknown Source) at oracle.webdb.provider.v2.utils.soap.SOAPProcessor.processInternal(Unknown Source) at oracle.webdb.provider.v2.utils.soap.SOAPProcessor.process(Unknown Source) at oracle.webdb.provider.v2.adapter.SOAPServlet.doSOAPCall(Unknown Source) at oracle.webdb.provider.v2.adapter.SOAPServlet.service(Unknown Source) at javax.servlet.http.HttpServlet.service(HttpServlet.java:336) at com.evermind.server.http.ResourceFilterChain.doFilter(ResourceFilterChain.java:59) at oracle.security.jazn.oc4j.JAZNFilter.doFilter(JAZNFilter.java:283) at com.evermind.server.http.ServletRequestDispatcher.invoke(ServletRequestDispatcher.java:523) at com.evermind.server.http.ServletRequestDispatcher.forwardInternal(ServletRequestDispatcher.java:269) at com.evermind.server.http.HttpRequestHandler.processRequest(HttpRequestHandler.java:735) at com.evermind.server.http.AJPRequestHandler.run(AJPRequestHandler.java:151) at com.evermind.util.ThreadPoolThread.run(ThreadPoolThread.java:64)
Did I miss a PDK .jar file? Or did I miss some setup to enable User/Session info?

It was our own application. Actually, it was a partner's web application. To integration it with Portal PDK V2, we added the 4 .jar files.
Our real problem is not getting cookies sent from the application through the portal to the browser. That's why we tried different settings on the provider/connection page. First we checked the box 'Web provider in same cookie domain as the portal'. That didn't help. Then we selected the 'Once Per User Session'. Because of the error, we changed it back to 'Never'. Finally, we checked the box 'Require portal user specific session information'. It also didn't help.
How could we solve the cookie problem?

  • May 2 web applications share user session info ?

    I have 2 web application (app1.war and app2.war).
    app1 set user session info.
    I wish app2 to read that user session info.
    Is this possible ?
    Thank you.

    As far as I understood, SSO needs an Infrastructure or (OID) installed. If the original idea of LDAP is to help the enterrprise centralized their User information, makes management of the commonly used information easier. Why Oracle requires its own OID to do SSO?
    Now, say, in an environment, if an organization has already had an LDAP server (such as MS AD, or Sun's iPlanet AD) in place, why should they install the Oracle's Internet Directory?
    This is big headache for management just trying to configure and keep different LDAP servers synchronized.
    Sharing user session info is a very common requirement for integrating. Is there a simple way (other than SSO) to achieve this? Will Servlet Filter be able to handle this?
    Thanks.

  • Previous Users Session Info.

    Hi
    Is there any way i can find out a user who connected to the database , total time he was logged in and when he disconnected .
    Thanks

    Hi,
    You have to do it as described in the below link.Sure it will help you.
    Basically What we have to do is to create a trigger for logon and logoff and Have a table like below
    create table
    stats$user_log
    user_id varchar2(30),
    session_id number(8),
    host varchar2(30),
    last_program varchar2(48),
    last_action varchar2(32),
    last_module varchar2(32),
    logon_day date,
    logon_time varchar2(10),
    logoff_day date,
    logoff_time varchar2(10),
    elapsed_minutes number(8)
    The below link will guide you in creating logon and logoff trigger.

  • Request User State Store Fails with error code 0x00004005

    I am trying to get a machine refresh working in SCCM and am running into a road block with the user state migration. The Task sequence hits Request user state store and then fails. In the logs on the machine it shows it downloads the cert from the SMP but it fails to verify the cert. The thing is that this was working and then stopped for no apparent reason. I have added a second SMP and it has the same issue so its got to be something environmental causing this. I have found no references to the errors I am recieving that relate to the issue so I am stumped. We have a SCCM 2007 site in mixed mode. The error log is:
    The task sequence execution engine failed executing the action (Request User State Storage) in the group (Capture User Files and Settings) with the error code 16389 Action output: ployment\osdsmpclient\smpclient.cpp,1743) Request to SMP 'ATXFREPSMS01.NA.atxglobal.com' failed with error (Code 0x80090006). Hi
    I am getting the same issue.
    More info:
    The same task works ok for one client - an xp machine that was upgraded to vista sp1 using sccm but without usmt.
    If I send this machine a task which includes usmt and os deploy it works.
    On 2 other machines ( so far) , the request store fails with the same error  - 0x80090006. (one of them existing vista and the other xp)
    I have tried removing and adding the client from the domain but it did not help.
    Any idea?

  • COREid Federation Error: A local user session could not be created for the

    Hi,
    I installed two instances of COREid Federation in my machine. Also installed SiteMinder and LDAP. Source Domain of COREid (8101) uses LDAP as IdMBridge and Destination Domain (9101) uses SiteMinder as IdMBridge. I am trying to access the resource protected by the SiteMinder from the source domain using the URL which is constructed using the pattern given in the PDF:
    http://mymachine.domain.com:8101/shareid/saml/ObSAMLTransferService?DOMAIN=DestinationDomain&method=POST&TARGET=http://mymachine.domain.com:8887/Source/Source.html
    Assertions are generated and I can see the assertion in the Source domain and transferred to the Destination Domain.
    I get the following error in the Destination Domain Shareid Log file:
    ERROR - [http10113-Processor3] - RECEIVER: ERROR: A local user session could not be created for the assertion
    Please help me to solve this issue?
    Note: The Web agent runs on the web server instance 8887.
    SiteMinder is able to protect the resource when accessed.

    Typically that error occurs when the destinations access management system can't find the user based on the SAML attribute. Check to make sure that the attribute that you are matching on matches exactly.

  • Is a Servlet-Filter which serializes requests in the same user session ok?

    The Servelt specification states that the Web-Application is itself responsible for synchronizing access to HttpSessions. It is from the serversite not possible to prevent multiple threads to access the same HttpSession (i.e. the user could always open a second window, retransmit a form etc). My assumption is that while this does not happen often it can happen and therefore I think each access to the HttpSession must be synchronized. For a further discussion see http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jsp?forum=4&thread=169872 .
    Concurrent programming is generally complicated and errorprone. At least in developing JSPs it is inconvenient and easy to forget. My Web-App uses often HttpSession and it can be used in different not predefined places, so I had the idea to implement a ServletFilter which serializes threads which happen in the same session. This involves certainly some overhead. However for the advantages of easier code maintains and higher consistency I am ready to pay this overhead.
    My question is generally what you think of this approach and second whether the way I implemented the Filter works.
    The Filter actually generates for each Request an HttpServletRequestWrapper which intercepts calls to getSession and on call aquires a Lock so that other threads have to wait for the same Session. The lock is released when the doFilter method of the Filter returns. So threads run concurrently until the first access to the Session and from there they are serialized until the end of the Request.
    For the details I will give the code for the Filter and the Wrapper (that?s all the code needed except the ReentrantLock which is Doug Lea?s implementation http://gee.cs.oswego.edu/dl/classes/EDU/oswego/cs/dl/util/concurrent/intro.html )
    the Filter
    public class SessionThreadFilter implements Filter
      public static final String MUTEXT_IN_SESSION_KEY = "org.jaul.filter.SessionThreadFilter.MUTEX";
      //constructor, init, destroy methods do nothing
      public void doFilter(ServletRequest reqIn,ServletResponse res,FilterChain filterChain)
        throws IOException, ServletException
        //if req not instanceof of HttpRequest don't do anything
        if (!(reqIn instanceof HttpServletRequest))
          filterChain.doFilter(reqIn, res);
        } else
          HttpServletRequest req = (HttpServletRequest) reqIn;
          //We use a HttpRequestWrapper each time a user accesses
          //through this
          //Wrapper a Session is Lock is aquired. The filter method returns
          //the lock if it exists is released
          //each thread needs it's own wrapper so the wrapper itself
          //doesn't have to be synchronized
          SessionThreadRequestWrapper wrapper = new SessionThreadRequestWrapper(req);
          try{
            filterChain.doFilter(wrapper, res);
          }finally{
            ReentrantLock lock = wrapper.getLock();
            if (lock != null && lock.holds() != 0)
                       lock.release(lock.holds());
    the Wrapper
    final public class SessionThreadRequestWrapper extends HttpServletRequestWrapper {
      private ReentrantLock lock = null;
       * Constructor for SessionThreadRequestWrapper.
       * @param arg0
      public SessionThreadRequestWrapper(HttpServletRequest req){

      public HttpSession getSession(){
        return getSession(true);
       * @see javax.servlet.http.HttpServletRequest#getSession(boolean)
      public HttpSession getSession(boolean construct){
        //this will get the session an the lock
        HttpSession session = getLockFromSession(construct);
        if (session == null) return null;
        //get a lock on the mutex
        try{
          lock.acquire();
        } catch (InterruptedException e){
          throw new IllegalStateException("Interrupted while thread waiting for session");
        //now we check again if the session is still valid
        try{
          session.getAttribute(SessionThreadFilter.MUTEXT_IN_SESSION_KEY);
        } catch (IllegalStateException e){
          //again we go recusively but first release the lock
          lock.release();
          lock = null;
          return getSession(construct);
        //after you got the lock you can return the session
        return session;
       * gets the lock from the session
       * @param construct
       * @return HttpSession
      private HttpSession getLockFromSession(boolean construct){
        //test if it is a new Session
        HttpSession session = super.getSession(construct);
        //if is null no session was realy requested
        if (session == null) return null;
        //otherwise try to get the lock if necessery construct it
        //syncrhonized over session
        synchronized (session){
          //this migth throw an Exception if the session has been
          //invalidated in the mean time
          try{
            lock = (ReentrantLock) session.getAttribute(SessionThreadFilter.MUTEXT_IN_SESSION_KEY);
            if (lock == null){
              lock = new ReentrantLock();
              session.setAttribute (SessionThreadFilter.MUTEXT_IN_SESSION_KEY, lock);

            //( assumption checked with Jetty: if the session is invalidated
            //and getSession is called on the thread a new valid session
            // should is returend)
            //I hope sometime you should get a valid session but I am not
            //sure. This is crucial for breaking of the recursion
            lock = null;
            return this.getLockFromSession(construct);
      /** used by the Filter to get the lock so that it can release it
      ReentrantLock getLock(){
         return this.lock;
    }As stated I would be very thankful if you could check the code and give some commends.

    synchronized (session){Are you sure that the session instance returned by two
    concurrent calls to getSession(...) are the same? I
    think that tomcat for instance may return different
    instances for the same "logical " session, which would
    break your scheme I think... Thank you (I did not know that on Tomcat). The same thing could also occur if another filter wrapped the Session.
    That's indeed a problem,which I have already adressed in another thread, but did not get an answer. ( http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jsp?forum=33&thread=412380). The already cited thread http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jsp?forum=4&thread=169872 adresses the same problem, but the discussion there ends with the recomandation that you should synchronize on HttpSession as I did it. Also in other forums I've read so.
    However like you I've at least strong doubts in this approach, so now my question is on what should I than generally for any access in any web-app syncrhonize the access to Http-Session as demanded by the Servlet specs.
    A few not realy satisfying answers:
    Synchronize on the HttpSession itself: I think still the best approach, but as you say is it guaranteed that the same instance of an HttpSession is given to each Request (in one Session)?
    Synchronized on the HttpServlet: This only works if no other servlet (or jsp) accesses in the session the value with the same key ( of course only if the session itself is threadsave). In case of ThingleThread it is not possible at all there can be multiple instances (you could use a static variable)
    Holding the object to synchronize on in applicaton scope or session scope: This obiously doesn't help, because somehow you have to obtain the lock and at least there you need another synchronize.Holding in application socpe is slow a static variable lock would be better there.
    Synchronize on some static variable: This will work, but is very slow (each request not only in the same session would synchronize on this).
    Hold a map in application scope, which holds for each Session-key a lock: Is probably faster than the static variable thing. However the access and the management of the Map (removing of unused locks etc.- Mabe you could use a WeakHashMap to collect the locks for not used keys anymore) is time consuming too and again the map must be accessed syncrhonasly by all requests.
    Syncrhonize on the Filter (only in my case): This is as slow as the static variable approach because each request will use the same lock the one instance of the Filter.
    So synchronizing on the session is propably the best approach if the same attribute name is accesed by different servlets. However if you say that some Web-Containers return different HttpSession instances for the same Session (which is legal according to the specification) this of course does not work.
    So I have realy no clue on what to syncrhonize than. Now help is not only neede on my Thread serialization filter but on my generally Servlet prgromming.
    May be you could help me for another synchronization aproach.

  • Essbase error 101 all 255 user sessions are in use

    Hi There,
    I try to connect to EAS and I got the following error:
    essbase error 101 all 255 user sessions are in use
    I have administrator right, wondering how to fix this?
    Thanks

    You must be on an older version and licensing scheme of essbase where number of ports could be restricted by license. Try bouncing off essbase service and you should be able to connect.
    For future, add the settings to automatically kick off user session after x number of minutes to avoid ghost sessions.

  • What causes "Could not complete your request because of a program error"?

    I am trying to edit some pictures from a recent shoot and every time I try to open one a message pops up saying, " Could not complete your request because of a program error." What does this mean and how do I fix it?

    Welcome to this forum!
    I’m happy to help but can do a better job if I have more information about your situation.
    What version of Photoshop do you have?
    What is the make and model of the camera you used for the shoot?
    Could you also include a screenshot of your entire screen as the error message pops up? To include a screenshot in your post, click the word “Reply” below the post you’re reading right now and then click the camera picture to embed the image.

  • Requesting BASELINE_EXTENDED profile in air 3.9 or 4.0 causes error

    This line of code
    stage.stage3Ds[0].requestContext3D( Context3DRenderMode.AUTO, Context3DProfile.BASELINE_EXTENDED );
    causes error "Error #2008: Parameter profile must be one of the accepted values." if app is compiled for desktop with air sdk 3.9 or air sdk 4.0 beta (didn't tried another sdk's). Compiling for web works fine. So what is this error? Where can I find information?

    Just made a quick test on 3.9, Application, set to direct render of course, no issue:
    package
              import flash.display.Sprite;
              import flash.display.Stage3D;
              import flash.display.StageAlign;
              import flash.display.StageScaleMode;
              import flash.display3D.Context3D;
              import flash.display3D.Context3DProfile;
              import flash.display3D.Context3DRenderMode;
              import flash.events.ErrorEvent;
              import flash.events.Event;
              public class CX3D extends Sprite
                        private var s3d:Stage3D;
                        private var rc:Context3D;
                        public function CX3D()
                                  stage.align = StageAlign.TOP_LEFT;
                                  stage.scaleMode = StageScaleMode.NO_BORDER;
                                  s3d = this.stage.stage3Ds[0];
                                  s3d.addEventListener(Event.CONTEXT3D_CREATE, onContextF);
                                  s3d.addEventListener(ErrorEvent.ERROR, contextErrorF );
                                  s3d.requestContext3D(Context3DRenderMode.AUTO, Context3DProfile.BASELINE_EXTENDED);
                        private function contextErrorF(e:Event):void
                                  trace('Error ' + e);
                        private function onContextF(e:Event):void
                                  trace('Created ' + e);
                                  rc = Stage3D( e.target ).context3D;
                   trace(rc);
    Trace:
    Created [Event type="context3DCreate" bubbles=false cancelable=false eventPhase=2]
    [object Context3D]
    (used a TextField for output in my finished .exe)
    edit:
    Although unlikely, if your desktop GPU is old enough it very well may not support that mode.

  • Killing a user session?

    Running Essbase 11.1.2 ASO cube...occassionally, when I attempt to kill a user session in EAS, I get the status of "terminating". I try to kill the session using Maxl commands to no avail. I know as a last resort to use task manager to end the ESSSVR.exe process -but I have been burned by this in the past as the database gets corrupted. Does anyone know of a safe method to kill these "terminating" sessions? and why are some easy to kill through EAS and others are not?

    Hi ,
    You may find the following entries in the application log which means there were hung sessions.
    +[Mon Jan 24 13:23:46 2011]Local/ESSBASE0///Error(1013290)+
    Failed to logout user []: timeout while waiting for requests to die
    +[Mon Jan 24 13:23:46 2011]Local/ESSBASE0///Info(1056092)+
    Sessions logged out [0]
    However, it is difficult to say why these errors occur exactly. Usually Errors like this occur because there are still processes running in the memory when the next transaction is called.
    A vast majority of errors can be avoided by integrating pauses and by unloading the application and then reloading it after each calculation or member/data load.
    When you kill a session from the EAS Console for a particular user, you need to wait for some time before the process gets compeltely killed, which perform a restructure or data load or data aggregation. You need to wait untill the process gets killed completely before performing any operations on the application.
    Never allow any other user to modify outline or update data whenever the Calculation is running. This can cause the application to go into a hang state and whenever you try to kill and if it fails, then you need to kill the ESSSVR process manually. For instance, follow the below guide lines when running Calc scripts:
    1) Never allow any other user to indulge any activity on the application. It is preferred to schedule the batch script as a nightly process, if it is a large operation to avoid user interruption.
    2) In case of hangups, use the UNLOCKOBJECT command (ESSCMD) to first unlock all the objects that are accessed by the script (Check the technical reference guide for the command ).
    3) Next log off the user using the LOGOUTUSER command, but here if you have multiple sessions of the same user logged in the application, all the sessions will be logged off. In this case use the EAS console and kill all the requests of the user first and then kill the session of the user.
    Suggestion:
    Try to execute the following MaxL commands as batch script and check if the execution of Calculation script is successful:
    spool on to 'D:\output\backup.log';
    login admin mypassword on localhost;
    alter application <app_name> load database <db_name>;
    alter system logout session on database <db_name>;
    Shell Sleep 30;
    alter system kill request on database <db_name>;
    Shell Sleep 30;
    alter application <app_name> disable commands;
    Shell Sleep 30;
    Execute Calculation <app_name>.<db_name>.<calc_name>;
    Shell Sleep 30;
    alter application <app_name> enable commands;
    Shell Sleep 30;
    logout;
    exit;

  • Losing session state after error page

    Hi there,
    I'm kinda new to all this so please bear with me.
    I've created a little app in HTML DB using the Oracle 10g XE database. The app is now in production and working ok. I do however have one issue that I am unable to resolve. The problem is this.
    If the user encounters an untrapped error on a page, e.g. they type in more data than the database field allows, then an error message will be displayed on a separate page, with an OK button. When they click the OK button, they are taken back to the page they came from, but any data they had typed in is gone. As you can imaging this is quite frustrating for the user. I know that this feature does work correctly (i.e. your data is retained), as I've seen it working on one of the demo applications. However, I'm at a loss at to what controls this behavior. Does anyone have any idea what setting I might need to change to get this working?
    Additional Info: When I call this page initially, I do clear session state for the page I am going to (using the f?p syntax), as I want the page to be blank when the user has clicked on the create new record button. Perhaps this in causing the session state to be lost when I navigate back there after being on the error page. If this is the case is there some way I can stop it from clearing session state for the page it is returning from the error page?
    Regards
    Joe Kennedy

    Scott,
    I have created the application on online as you suggested. I was unable to login to the application with my username and password so I deleted the login page and security scheme and accepted the default login page. The really wierd thing is it works as expected, i.e. when I get the error and click ok, the data is still on the page as I entered it. That means there must be something wrong with my setup on my PC, but I don't know what. I will try dropping and recreating the appication from scratch to see if that will fix it. Could it have something to do with the security scheme? That is the only thing I changed with the version I created online.
    Thanks
    Joe.

  • Error:  "Could not complete your request because of a program error" (photoshop CS2 9.0.2 on MAC OSX

    Today I started my program (photoshop CS2 9.0.2) and opened a JPG file. When I went to print the file the program crashed and closed. When I restarted the program and went to open the file I got this error message, "Could not complete your request because of a program error".
    I have tried several different file types/sizes and all result in the same error message since the program crashed. It will not open any file I try to open. As I indicated above I am using Photoshop CS2 9.0.2 it is on a MAC with OSX 10.4.11.
    I called Adobe and the Rep directed me to Tech Note 331307 and told me to Re-create the Photoshop preferences files. Which I did and restarted the program, but when I tried to open a file (any file) I still get the same error message so it doesn't appear to be the preferences.
    Does anyone have any info as to what the problem may be and how to correct it.
    Thanks

    Thanks for the response. OK... This is the first day I have been able to get back to the problem.
    My system I am running Photoshop on is a Power Mac G4, AGP Graphics ATY Rage 128Pro chip set 16MB VRAM LCD 1280x1024 32-bit color, 500MHz, 1.75GB of memory, 1 MB L2 Cache, 100 MHz Bus Speed. I had installed the latest security update and repaired the permissions the day the problem started.
    Now to day I started the system and went in and created a Guest Account. I logged into the guest account and started Photoshop. Low and behold it worked just fine. So I logged out of guest and logged into my main user account And started Photoshop. Wouldn't you know it.... It works just fine. I can open any file I want with now problems.
    I got to thinking after I had done all of this that I wished I had tried to open a file in Photoshop today prior to creating the guest account to see if it still had the problem in my main user account.
    I did not change anything else on the system and all seems to work fine now. So at his point I am really not sure what the problem was.
    Again thanks for taking the time to respond to this issue.

  • Adobe Photoshop CS6 Extended Could not complete your request because of a program error.

    When starting Photoshop CS6 I get this error message, Adobe Photoshop CS6 Extended  Could not complete your request because of a program error (-- OK --).  This happens on the main screen immediately.  Once I click OK the program seems to be alright.  But some part of it, that I haven't discovered yet, may not function properly.
    I am running Windows7 Professional Service Pack 1 64 bit with Intel i7-4770k CPU and 16 GIG Ram.
    This problem just started recently, everything has been fine up till now.  I must have done something when trying to defragment the Registry or get rid of temp files.
    I have uninstalled Photoshop CS6 and reinstalled it with no effect.  I have tried to run Photoshop CS6 32 bit in Safe Mode, but it will not run.  It hangs up on Reading Memory.
    Is there any kind log file that would tell me what is causing this to occur?
    Does anyone know what might cause this?
    Thank you in advance for any helpful information.
    J. J. Patterson

    Did you reset your Preferences and Photoshop tools.  Photoshop Preferences are not removed with an un-install and an Install does not install preferences.  Preferences are created  for a user id when a user ID start Photoshop  and there are no preferences for the user ID.
