Required services on Oracle 10g

Hi,
I would like to learn that what Oracle NT services required in order to
run SAP, for Oracle 10g. This is because I faced with a problem while
shutting down the database. The database cannot shutdown and wait for
something. Since understand the problem, I performed a trace at the OS
level and I found out that "OracleDBConsole<SID>" service is reading some
files and performing high I/O operation. As soon as I
stop "OracleDBConsole<SID>" the database is shutdown properly. Because of
this reason, we would like to stop unnecessary NT services and want to
learn what Oracle 10g services required. Thank you.
Best regards,
Orkun Gedik

Hello,
OracleDBConsole is related to Oracle Enterprise Manager.
If you are not using it, then You can disable the service or put it to manual as it is not used by SAP.

  • Multiple Forms services in Oracle 10g AS(10.1.2.0.2)

    H Friends,
    I am using Oracle 10g AS(10.1.2.0.2) for a project A.
Now i would like to use the same application Server for another Project B.
Is it possible to have 2 forms services in the same Oracle 10g AS (like creating our own reports server in the same Instance).
I know we can create our own OC4J Instances but need to know whethere that will create a new forms service which i can use it for Project B without disturbin the default forms service(used in Project A)

    Hi sahil,
Thanks for the info. This is really useful(Metalink Doc) and i am able to configure 2 forms servers successfully
but i still have one issue. The issue is
I am unable to have 2 icons path (for the 2 applications)the icons path is taking from the dafault path of /forms/icons(in forms.conf file) for both the application even though i make entry for second application as /formstest/icons in forms.conf file(formstest is my new forms server for second application).
Is there any way to solve this issue? Please suggest.

  • Regarding Services in Oracle 10g RAC

    Hi All,
We are having Oracle 10g RAC (10.2) on Linux machines.  We don't have any services configured failover. This can be visible from srvctl config database -d, as nothing related services information is displayed.
I even checked failover_type and Failover_method from GV$session and for all it's showing None. We have only default database service (same as database name).
    My question is:
Can I modify/configure this default service as failover/loadbalance enabled using srvctl? If so, please let me know.
PS: I can't provide any output here as our client network doesn't permit copying.

  • 2 Forms Services on Oracle 10g AS Release 2

    Hi Friends,
I am using Oracle 10g AS (10.1.2.0.2).I have 2 applications to be hosted
I mapped application 1 for the Default report server(inproces report server)
I created one more report server and mapped fror the applicatin 2.
I am able to control both the reports independently
    No issues on report server
Same way i would like to have 2 forms services (without using seperate tags in formsweb.cfg) because
I need 2 different icons path for 2 applications
I should be able to bounce the forms services independently application wise (like reports)
Is it possible ? Please recommend the Method/Document.
    Regards

There are metalink notes and papers where you can set it up if you want it, I believe this comes with limited support from Oracle though. I personally prefer to have separate config sections, having a second OC4J instance is more administration and resources usage.

  • Patch Requirements for Building Oracle 10g on Solaris 10

    Hi,
I am about to install Oracle 10g 10.1.0.2 on Solaris 10 (Sparc). I have looked at the Oracle docs pertaining to this process and they seem to indicate that I need to apply a few patches to solaris. I know that sun currently charge for their updates and I was just wondering what service plan I should purchase in order to get access to the appropriate patches. Would the basic service plan be sufficient? Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
    -Harry

Well.. For oracle its normally enough with a recommended cluster, which can be found free of charge at:
    http://sunsolve.sun.com/pub-cgi/show.pl?target=patches/patch-access
Quite many patches can still be downloadable even without a contract. Even if you will see more infodoc and bugreports with a contract..

  • Error deploying Web Service in Oracle 10g AS (10.1.3.0)

When deploying a secured web service from Oracle EM 10.1.3 i'm getting the following exception
"Failed in uploading archive. Invalid archive file: Invalid value: AES-256"
The same web service (.ear) file is getting uploaded without exception when deploying directly from Oracle JDeveloper 10.1.3.0

The problem solved when creating a webservice ear file with the keystore generated in the machine where the application server is installed.
We created a secure web service (in client machineA) with public/private key encryption (AES 256) and tried deploying it in an application server instance (Server machineA). Doing this gives the following expection (when deploying the ear file through EM)
"Failed in uploading archive. Invalid archive file: Invalid value: AES-256"
We solved the problem by creating a keystore file in the application server instance machine (instead of doing it in client machine) and used the same keystore file to create the ear file which got deployed succesfully.

  • Consuming Axis web service from Oracle 10g database

    Greetings,
I have a working web service that I want my Oracle 10.2 database to consume. I've taken the wsdl file from the web service and run it through Apache Axis' wsdl2java function, thus creating the Java client stubs required.
    Is it possible to:
    -Call a PL/SQL function which:
    --Calls a Java class which:
---Calls the webservice which calculates an answer and passes it all the way back to the db?
I can get the db to call Java functions through PL/SQL and I can call the webservice from Java if I call the Java from the command line, but I can't seem to put it all together. When I upload all my Java to the db and attempt to call the method, I get:
    ERROR at line 1:
ORA-29532: Java call terminated by uncaught Java exception:
    Java.lang.ExceptionInInitializerError
If this is possible, could you please give me some direction as to where to go about doing it?
    Thanks.

Using Axis libraries within the database may not be the easiest way to get started.

  • Create web service in oracle 10g r2

Hi guys, I am trying to expose a package function as a web service in the database (10g r2) for outside clients to call on. I saw a good example on the following url in 11g http://www.oracle-base.com/articles/11g/NativeOracleXmlDbWebServices_11gR1.php in which you use the dbms_xdb package to configure a port and servlet for accessing the function in the db. However, the 10g r2 version of the dbms_xdb package does not have some of the functions in the 11g version. Eg. dbms_xdb.addservlet, deleteservlet, etc.
How can i go about doing this (without using Jdeveloper)? Jdeveloper creates the web service but the uses your localhost and web logic port in the generated wsdl. I would like something similar to the example above. Can somebody provide an example that works in 10g or point me towards some article that explains how to accomplish this?
    Any help is appreciated!
    Thanks

If the intention is merely to web enable that procedure, allowing it to be called directly via http, then it can be done 10g using XDB.
XDB supports WebDAV and has a mod_plsql (PL/SQL module interface for web servers) servlet. You configure the Oracle Listener to accept http connections on port 8080 for example and hand it over to this mod_plsql module in XDB. In XDB you configure the behaviour of (and URL signatures supported by) this module.
Note that this deals merely with the connectivity and interface (http to PL/SQL) side - whether that procedure exposes a web services (and returns XML) or whether it returns images or html or text is immaterial from a connectivity viewpoint.

  • Database Web Services with Oracle 10g

Forgive my lack of knowledge on this issue, but we are still researching our options and we have very little experience with these new technologies.
We have been using Oracle Database server for years and we are looking now into integrating or applications to offer farther solutions to our customer as well as to implement a b2b solution.
Our b2b solution consist of a relationship between Partners of our customer via a hub server that would reside on our quarters. In other words our customers servers would communicate with their partners via our server and vice versa.
We are planning to use Fusion to implement our Hub server and my question is:
"Should we deploy A J2EE container to our customer where 'client services' would run to maintain a runtime communication with our hub or can we skip the J2EE container by using Database Web Services?"
    And a related question:
"What Oracle components are required for Database Web Services to work? How are they implemented?"
    Thank you!

After farther reading about Database Web Services, it seems that you still need at least OC4J on the customer side to run Database Web Services. Is that correct?
So if the best approach is to deploy OC4J to our customers, how difficult is to do so and how can I configure each one of my customers so my hub server can uniquely identify each one of them?

  • Loss of the services of Oracle 10g Express DB

    Hi,
I don't know why those services disappeared this morning after I've logged into the PC, on which everything was set up (I mean the DB) and was working fine. It seems they disappeared after the reboot of the machine. Nothing was intentionally done against that. I do not see these at all
    ORACLEXE
    ORACLEXETNSLISTENER
    ORACLEJOBSCHEDULERXE
    ORACLEXECLRAGENT
    ORACLEMTSRECOVERYSERVICE
When we're to remove the corr. registry entries when dropping Oracle 10 DB, do we need to change anything in the corr. login profile, if not, will anything be replaced (I mean will anything be reloaded from the corr. entries of the server profile, since we do have 2 profile copies, one on the local machine, another on the server?) after we've relogged in again?

  • Oracle 10g Enterprise Manager web service unable to start

I am unable to get Enterprise Manager web service for Oracle 10g to start in Windows. Anybody can tell me where to find out what is the problem and what are the possible problems and solutions? I do not wish to re-install or create a new database instance because there is existing data and will require extensive configurations to my web and app servers if I change the database instance. Thanks!
