Requirement to programmatically copy documents from KM to a Windows folder

We have a requirement to programmatically copy documents from KM to a Windows folder with final destination being SharePoint. We are able to access the KM folders manually through WebDav and adding Network Place in Windows. However, we need to do this programmatically. Has anybody solved this puzzle? We are looking for a .NET solution. We have already ruled out NetWeaver Portal Drive 4.4 as a good solution because it seems is not supported for current and future hardware.

Dear Mario
You can use KM API to code for download of the files ,but please make sure that the server has acess to the local destop.
1) Read the folder form KM
2) Read Each file as a byte array
3) write the Byte array as a file in the local desktop(Make sure for the premission )
4) Repeat the above steps for all the file in the folder

To maintain the metadata you'll need to use one of the third party tools that does this kind of migration. Metalogix has a product with a free trial that we have used before. (Don't remember whether the free version maintains metadata or not).

Transfering- copying documents from IMac to MacBook Pro - Migration Assistant or High Speed File share cable- which would be faster?

I started Migration Assistant to copy documents from my IMac to my new MacBook Pro - it started off saying "About 53 hours and 40 minutes remaining" to "About 64 hours and 47 minutes remaining" - I have a High Speed File Share Cable - should I have used that?

If you mean a FireWire cable, yes.
Your best bet is to start over. See the green box in Problems after using Migration Assistant

1. a new document is created.
2. the same document is updated. (replication should happen automatically, immediately)
Is it possible? If yes, how?

Why when i copy files from downloads to a new folder,then i delete them from the downloads i will loose the file?

If you copy it to another folder, e.g., Documents, and you can see it in the Downloads folder then you now have two copies of the file. If you delete one copy, the other stays intact. If you keep both, there is no harm, although the amount of disk space used is twice as big as when you only keep one copy.

Cannot copy file from backup DVD to HD folder

Whenever I finish a project, I had burn the various files (movie, text, pictures, pages, etc.) onto DVDs to free up hard disk space for present projects. Usually, I would use a disk image to burn those DVDs. Recently, I needed material from those DVDs and I found that I could not copy them from the DVD to my work folders on my hard disk by dragging them from the DVD window to another open window. I could only do it the roundabout way of opening those files individually using the programmes (like pages, iPhoto, etc) and then use the 'Save As ...' option in the File Menu. It was a huge hassle. I then looked into my other DVDs and found that they were the same way. I find DVDs easier to manage. Is it because I am using disk images or is there something wrong in the way I burn the DVDs. Please advise

When I try to move the files from the Finder Window with the files on the DVD, I do not get the plus sign when I try to drag it to the desktop or any other window. Even when I try with the option key pressed, there is no plus sign with the mouse arrow. Someone suggested to use the terminal and I did. It was a hassle, though.

depend on the document program more then anything else really
when ever I open a doc with word it make a history for undo and redo action file in the same dir
with bootcamp you only have read not write access to the osx partition so it would fail to be able to create that file
but if you can get word or whatever program you use to open the file not to place a temp file in the same dir
or use a program which did not make any type of temp file or used a program where the temp file would be located elsewhere where you decide it would work file

Cannot copy photos from HP Photosmart with Windows Vista

I know how to copy photos onto my iPod (30G) and have done so before. I recently bought a new computer with Vista and cannot copy photos from my Pictures folder. I get a message that says, "Some of the photos...were not copied to the iPod...because they cannot be displayed on your iPod." What can I do to help fix this? I have tried resizing and using Adobe Photoshop and I get the same message.

I use Picasa. You don't have to use iTunes at all. Connect the phone with the USB cable and launch the app of your choice, such as Picasa. Click the "Import" button at the upper left. Your iPhone should appear in the dropdown of choices to import from. You can then import all or some of the photos in the Camera Roll. You should be able to do the same thing with Microsoft Picture Manager or any other photo management program.
The reason that Elements is the only choice is that's the only one that iPhoto on the phone recognizes albums in.
You cannot move photos INTO the Camera Roll from your computer; it's a one-way transfer. But you can sync photos to the Photos app on the iPhone. You either use Elements, or just create a folder on your computer for photos to sync, then create a sub-folder for each album you want on your computer. Copy the photos to each album, then go to the Photos tab in iTunes and select the top-level folder. When you sync each sub-folder will become an album on the iPhone.
However, I consider the photo app on the iPhone rather limited and klunky. Instead I use the app MyPics from the app store. It syncs photos from my Picasa Web albums directly to the phone over the air. I can also create albums in Picasa Web from the phone, and upload images from the Camera Roll directly to Picasa Web.
Another way to get photos (and other files) to and from the phone is Dropbox and similar cloud-based storage solutions.

If your phone is your only internet, you're out of luck. From the Dropbox description: +"This app works with the Dropbox service, and is not intended as a stand-alone product."+ In other words, you'd need to upload files to the Dropbox server from your computer (requiring an internet connection), then you could access them from the phone, and email them from there.
Does your computer have Wi-Fi? If so, you can create a computer-to-computer network on the computer, connect your iPhone to that, and use another app like Files or File Magnet to transfer the file(s) like Word docs to your iPhone, then email them from there.
But, it sounds like what you really need is a tethering solution, which allows you to use your cell phone as a modem for your computer. AT&T does not currently support tethering for the iPhone, although they do for other phones.

How to copy documents from SOLAR02 configuration structure into Solution

in SOLOA02 we have stored our cross scenario configuration in the solution structure on top level node 'configuration' as described in the help 'Implementation and Upgrade Projects'->'projects'->'configuration'->'Edit cross scenario configuration'.
During hand-over from project to support I want to copy the information stored under configuration into our solution directory (TC SOLUTION_DIRECTORY). In the solution structure there is no top level node 'configuration'. Only 'Org Unkits, Master Dtaa, Business Scenarios, Interface Scenarios, Systems, Servers.
Can I customize the default solution structure and add the missing node? Is there another way to copy the documents?

Hi Peter,
the only way to relate the configuration structure from a project to a solution is via a maintenance project. You need to assign a maintenance project to your solution (on the solution settings tab). This will create a solution node in the maintenance project. You can now copy the configuration structure from your implementation project to the configuration structure underneath the solution node of the maintenance project.

Copying documents from a Database

I use Acrobat 9 Pro. I currently created and manage a database that has approximately 900 - 1000 scanned documents. The documents are are filed and organized for assessable use.
Question: How can I select a document(s) and e-mail those documents without deleting or permanently extracting them?

Madhu, can't you use sql*plus COPY command.
have the tns entry of both the databases on your client. even though the database names are same , change the tns string so that you can differentiate between the two.
in the sql*plus use the below command.
copy from <remote db tns> to <local db tns> create <tablename> using select * from <tablename>
Note: the "create" can be replaced with INSERT if you already have created the table here and want only the data.
type copy and enter in sql*plus you will get all COPY options.

SharePoint Designer has a "Copy list item" workflow action on it. I'm, not sure if this is accessible via Visual Studio but if it's not, you can create a re-usable workflow in SPD with a view of importing it into VS. It should, in
theory give you the code equivalent of the SPD Action.

While copying Document from R/3?

Hi,
When i placed a order in CRM it flows to backend R/3 ...for this order get error message "An error has occured in the system R/3 while copying the document
Message no. CRM_ORDER_MISC 020"

You need the partner function mapping CRM > R/3, if you want to upload CRM sales transactions into R/3. Again partner function mapping R/3 > CRM,needed if you want to download R/3 sales transactions into CRM
Use the following customizing to create new partner functions in R/3: IMG > Sales and Distribution > Basic Functions > Partner Determination > Define Partner Functions > Select Customer Master > Double click on Partner Functions button
