Reset .asp form on page load

I produced an .asp fillable form in DWCS5 using ASP Form 2 Email extension. Worked very well. Problem -- ONLY with IE. When I "submit" the form, I get the "success" page. If I hit the back button on the browser, all the form info is still there. I inserted the "pragma" meta into the <head> and it resolved the problem in all browsers EXCEPT IE. Any suggestions as to how I can force the cache to clear on page load? Or, maybe a way to disable the "back" button on the browser when the success page has appeared?

Perhaps you're not phrasing your question correctly, but what
you're
suggesting is nonsense/not necessary. A form is designed for
user input.
If you want the form to be submitted when the page loads, the
user has
no opportunity to enter any input before it's submitted. If
you don't
want any user input, there is no need to submit a form. You
simply write
a PHP script that runs automatically when the page loads.
Forms play no
role in your scenario.

  • Using Javascript to reset a form on document load

    I am trying to reset all field vaules on a acrobat form to the default values, when the form is initially loaded.  I am trying to use the resetForm() method in a document level script, but not having any luck.
    I have been able to reset fields after user inputs such as a button that resets the form, or a script the will reset a form prior to importing field data... but I need to ensure all data is removed from the form when the form first loads
    Any ideas?

    I believe you mean a document level JavaScript, Entering Document Level Scripts, since a Folder level script would require the placing of the code into one of the Acrobat Application's JavaScript folder on the user machine, Entering Folder Level Scripts. Placing the JS code as a Document Level Sept will clear the form when the form is opened. One could also use the Page Open action if additional code is added to prevent re clearing the form if part of a multi page document and one navigates back to the original page.
    You should also consider turning off auto complete and auto caching of form data.

  • Need to update a record on page load. How? (ASP/VBScript)

    The standard Update Record behavior requires a form on the page, plus a recordset to identify the value to be updated. In my scenario, the value for the record to be updated is already in the URL as the ID. I just don't know how to write it myself and Dreamweaver won't do this.
    The page I want to do this on is a record detail page, so there is already a record ID already present in the querystring. The record is new until a user views it, and what I need is something that just writes a simple value to one field in the table for the record being viewed. This is it in a nutshell:
    Using the value from the ID in the URL querystring, update the "viewed" field in a specific table with the value of "y".
    This would be the first operation as the page loads and then the page would load and show the data that it already does.
    I'd be happy with raw code is someone is generous enough to provide that, or perhaps some instructional help on reverse engineering the standard update record code generated by Dreamweaver. Or, if you know of any extensions designed to do this - I'd be interested in that too!
    My app I'm working on is in ASP/vbscript.
    Subject line edited by moderator to indicate server model

    Good point! I wasn't thinking about how that would make the app vulnerable to sql injection.
    The function I want to perform is similar to how an email changes from unread to read when you view it. I simple want the records being viewed to take on the status of being read or "viewed". Perhaps I'm going about this in the wrong way, but I've been planning to use a database field as the indicator of whether a record has a viewed status or not. Null value is new, and a value of "y" (yes) meaning the value is viewed/read.
    If you have a better recommendation, I'm all ears.

  • Firefox 27.01 freezes on page load after reset

    I am using Arch Linux and Firefox 27.01. Firefox complained that it took too long to start and recommended a reset. After resetting, it has become unusable. The start page loads, but if I go to a website, within 10 seconds, it becomes unresponsive completely. I've tried letting it unfreeze, but it just stays hanging.
    I rebooted, tried deleting Firefox and mozilla-common and then rebooting and then reinstalling, and I tried safe mode, but it STILL freezes. Also, I tried installing Firefox 26 instead, but it also freezes in this manner. I didn't get any of these problems before I reset Firefox. I'm at a complete loss. I don't know what could possibly cause this problem. Maybe something with the profile?
    I would use the automatic troubleshooter, but I can reach this page in time, but I cannot login without it freezing. This makes Firefox completely unusable. (I don't want to switch to chrome) Please, any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi jcbahr,
    First of all, I am sorry that it became unusable. And second, are you talking about that turtle pop up on the bottom of the screen? That should point to the article on how to make it faster. When you reset Firefox, data is sent to an Old Profile folder and it automatically added back as well.
    Since it still freezes in Safe Mode, it ideally is not an add on. However this doe not eliminate extensions or other preferences. It does restore preferences to the default one though. So we have another troubleshooting article that has worked for others [http://mzl.la/MP6ZBS]
    I hope that is all new information, and let us know if it helps!

  • In Planning, 'forms administration page' does not load properly

    Thank you RahulS, I did follow IE 7 recommendation for Hyperion products, but didn't solve the problem.
    And on the page where the form list should load, it occurs an error:
    Line: 796
    Char: 2
    Error: Object Required
    Code: 0
    URL: http://website/FormManagement.jsp?Application=AppName&Folder=545998
    The line number and folder number are different when I click different form folders. I am pretty sure it is not jsp file that has problem, because other people don't meet that error.
    Anyone has any idea? thanks in advance.

  • I want to writte C# code for 503 Service Unavailable error to web application page immediate close connection any page loaded

    Here is a ticket regarding our current client web application (  Image data add, edit , delete in folder with form data in MSSQL Database) that using code c#, web form, ajax, VS2008, MSSQL Server2008 , it appears that there is an error where the HTTP
    503 error occurs.
    . Below is a conversation with Host Server support assistant.Can you take a look at it?
    Ben (support) - Hi
    Customer - We're having an issue with our windows host
    Ben (support) - What's the issue?
    Customer - 503 errors
    Ben (support) - I am not getting any 503 errors on your site, is there a specific url to duplicate the error?
    Customer - no, it comes and goes without any change Customer - could you have access to any logs ?
    Ben (support) - Error logs are only available on Linux shared hosting, however with this error it may be related to you reaching your concurrent connections
    Ben (support) - You can review more about this at the link \
    Customer - probably yes - how can we troubleshoot ?
    Ben (support) - http://support.godaddy.com/help/article/3206/how-many-visitors-can-view-my-site-at-once
    Ben (support) - This is something you need to review your code and databases to make sure they are closing the connections in a timely manner
    Customer - we're low traffic, this is an image DB to show our product details to our customers
    Customer - ahhhh, so we could have straying sessions ?
    Ben (support) - Correct Customer - any way you could check if it's the case ?
    Customer - because it was working previously
    Ben (support) - We already know that's the case as you stated the 503 errors don't happen all the time if it were issue on the server the the 503 would stay.
    Customer - so our 2/3 max concurrent users can max out the 200 sessions
    Customer - correct ?
    Customer - is there a timeout ?
    Ben (support) - no that's not a time out concurrent connections are a little different then sessions and or connections. Lets say for an example you have 5 images on your site and 5 7 users come to your site this is not 7 concurrent connections but 35. They
    do close after awhile hence why the 503 error comes and goes. You can have these connections close sooner using code but this is something you have to research using your favorite search engine
    Customer - thank you so much
    Customer - I'm surprised that this just started a few weeks ago when we haven't changed anything for months
    Customer - any changes from your side ? lowering of the value maybe ?
    Customer - I'm trying to understand what I can report as a significant change
    Ben (support) - We haven't touched that limit in years
    Ben (support) - This could just be more users to your site than normal or even more images
    Customer - I was thinking that could be it indeed
    Customer - so I need to research how to quickly close connections when not needed
    Ben (support) - Correctly
    Ben (support) - correct
    Customer - thanks !!
    Ben (support) - Your welcome
     Analysis :
     The link provided tells us : All Plesk accounts are limited to 200 simultaneous visitors.
     From what Ben (support) says and a little extra research, if those aren't visitors but connections then it's quite easy to max out, especially if the connections aren't closed when finished using. I'd suggest forwarding this to Kasem to see what he thinks.
    Cheers,
    Customer

  • How To Reset a Form (Not as easy as you would think)?

    Hi All,
    I'm unable to get a form to reset its value when using a commandButton that has immediate set to true.
    I've got a simple little jsf page that has a form and a datatable. The form is bound to an object in a class I'm using to handle the view, the datatable is bound to a dataModel from the same handler class. The functionality I have is quite simple:
    a user clicks on a commandLink in a row of the datatable
    the corresponding object is loaded into a "currentObject" property of the handler class
    the form fields are mapped to the "currentObject" property of the handler.
    The user may update or reset the form.
    The goal is to have the reset commandButton set the "currentObject" property of the handler class to null (or a new, unpopulated object) so that the fields of the form are set to blank again on render. This works fine as long as I don't use immediate="true". When I do use the immediate=true attribute, the "currentObject" variable is, indeed, set to null, but the form still renders with the old "currentObject" values in it!!
    I have to use immediate="true" because there is validation going on for the form that I want to avoid.
    If I use a commandButton type="reset", the fields are not cleared because the reset functionality of the browser (ie6 and firefox) resets the fields to the values they were at the time the form was displayed--the very values I wish to totally remove!
    This seems like such a common, simple thing to do. What am I missing?
    Thanks,
    John

    I have a similiar problem, and maybe putting buttons in a different form is the answer:
    I have a page with a selectOneListbox on the left, and a set of inputs on the right. The listbox represents the available beans to select, and the set of inputs contains all the editable fields for the beans. Basically this is just a bean editor.
    There is a command Button beneath the listbox for viewing a bean. When this button is clicked, the set of inputs are populated with that bean's data.
    There is also a command button beneath the set of inputs that allows the user to save their changes.
    All of these elements are in the same form tag.
    JSF jsp:
    <f:view>
      <h:form>
        <h:panelGrid columns="2">
          <h:panelGrid columns="2">
            <h:selectOneListbox size="10" value="#{editor.selectedBean}" >
              <f: selectItems value="#{editor.beanSelectItemCollection}" />
            </h:selectOneListbox>
            <h:commandButton actionListener="#{editor.view}" value="View" />
          </h:panelGrid>
          <h:panelGrid  columns="2">
            <h:inputText value="#{editor.editingBean.property}" />
            <h:commandButton actionListener="#{editor.save}" value="Save" />
          </h:panelGrid>
        </h:panelGrid>
      </h:form>
    </f:view>Editor bean:
    public class Editor {
      // use a blank bean as default
      // so the editor is populated with blanks
      private Bean editingBean = new Bean();
      // don't initially select any beans
      private Bean selectedBean = null;
      private Map beans = new HashMap();
      public Editor() {
      public void save(ActionEvent e) {
        beans.put(editingBean.getId(), editingBean);
      public void view (ActionEvent e) {
        editingBean = (Bean)selectedBean.clone();
      // getters and setters
      public Bean getEditingBean() {
        return editingBean;
      public void setEditingBean(Bean b) {
        editingBean = b;
      public Bean getSelectedBean() {
        return selectedBean;
      public void setSelectedBean(Bean b) {
        selectedBean = b;
      // before entering the JSP for this bean, this method should be called
      // to populate the editor
      public void setBeans(Collection c) {
        beans.clear();
        for (Iterator i = c.iterator(); i.hasNext(); ) {
          Bean b = (Bean)i.next();
          beans.put(b.getId(), b);
      public Collection getBeans() {
        return beans.values();
      public Collection getBeanSelectItemCollection() {
        Collection items = new ArrayList(beans.size());
        for (Iterator i = beans.values().iterator(); i.hasNext(); ) {
          items.add(new SelectItem(bean, bean.getProperty());
        return items;
    }Here comes the problem:
    If I want to set fields as required or use any of the JSF validation functionality, my view usecase breaks. This happens if the user views bean1 changes some data to be invalid/not existant and then tries to view bean2. If they don't click the save button, validation/required should not be checked. My initial thought is that I should be able to set my view button and view listbox to be immediate. This does properly update the view listbox, but then if I change the values in the backing bean for the set of inputs, those changes are never updated to the screen, and the set of inputs is still populated with bean1's data even though the backing bean for all those inputs is now bean2.
    It appears that the view never requeries the backing bean when responseComplete() is called (which happens with an immediate command). Is this a bug in faces, or is this how the spec says it is supposed to behave? If this is the correct behavior what is a better practice to acheieve my usecase?
    My current workaround is to ignore faces validation and manually validate when the user clicks the save command, and then manually set the messages for the bad components. Obviously, this is not an ideal solution, but I was hoping that this faces behavior was incorrect and thus my solution would be temporary.
    I'm not tied to a specific solution, but I am discouraged that Adam says in order to reset the set of inputs, we have to manually update the model during the apply request values phase.

  • ASP form reads from access, can't write

    I am a complete ASP noob. I use ColdFusion and ASP has proven
    to be a pain I wish I would have never touched. I need to add a
    simple contact form to the end of an ASP page to capture basic
    info.
    When the page loads, all is well. In fact, the page is able
    to perform a query of the database and get some list options to
    populate the form. Once I complete the form and hit submit, it
    posts the form and generates an internal server error 500.
    I built the form using the built in Dreamweaver actions. It
    is set up to be an ASP VB file, though I get errors with ASP JS. I
    think the server is configured right, since the page loads and
    performs the query. I could be wrong. The database is Access and I
    have the permissions set for IIS to have the ability to write to
    the database.
    What do I need to look for?
    Thanks in advance for any advice!!!

  • Open Modal Dialog on Page Load of MOSS 2010

    Hi All
    We are trying to open modal dialog when home page opens on Sharepoint portal 2010
    We followed these steps:
    1. Created Page
    2. Created HTML Form Editor web part
    3. Added following code to its source
    <script type="text/javascript" language="javascript">
    Alert('Shahab');
    _spBodyOnLoadFunctionNames.push("HideNewIcons");
    function HideNewIcons(){
      var options=SP.UI.$create_DialogOptions();
    options.url='http://servername/sites/itd/SitePages/Test.aspx?IsDlg=1';
    options.height = 400;void(SP.UI.ModalDialog.showModalDialog(options))
    _spBodyOnLoadFunctionNames.push("HideNewIcons");
    </script>
    4. Neither ALERT nor MODAL DIALOG appear.
    We are on MOSS 2012. I checked the net and found there might be some issues in 2010. However, it works best on 2007
    Is there any other solution?

    Hi ,
    I understand that you want to open a modal dialog on page load in SharePoint 2010. The code Ashish provided works great. But you need to put the code on the page directly by editing the page in SharePoint designer(When putting the code in Content Editor
    Web Part ,the modal dialog doesn’t pop up correctly).
    Edit the page in SharePoint designer in Advanced Mode.
    Browse to the bottom of the code view .
    Add the code before the </asp:Content> tab.
    <script language="javascript" type="text/javascript">
            ExecuteOrDelayUntilScriptLoaded(yourFunction, 'SP.js');
            function yourFunction() {
                var options = { url:
    '/_layouts/viewlsts.aspx', title: 'Title, Description, and Icon', width: 640, height: 400 };
                 SP.UI.ModalDialog.showModalDialog(options);
             _spBodyOnLoadFunctionNames.push("yourFunction()");
    </script>
    Thanks,

  • Pagination - JavaScipt in "Execute when Page Loads" stop working

    I'm using APEX 4.0.
    I have a standard report region on a page. In the page's JavaScript - Execute When Page Loads area, I put some javascript code there to initialize hover event handlers for dropdown menus inside the report. It works fine when the report is genarated.
    But it stop working when a pagination performed. For example, after clicked 'next" or any number form the pagination dropdown list.
    Please advice how to fix it. Thanks.
    Shiofan

    Hi, Peter:
    Thanks for the quick reply. That is appreciated.
    My code involves only CSS and JQuery.
    I have found out the reason. It is because "Enable Partial Page Refresh" was set to Yes. ( that is the default by APEX, isn't it? ). After I reset it to No, the dropdown menu does work fine after pagination.
    I don't know how APEX pagination work together with report attribute "Enable Partial Page Refresh". To me, no matter what, the style sheet, the JavaScript put in page template/page header should always be included since they are common to the page. Can we say this is an APEX bug need to be fixed?
    Thanks again.

  • Issue with invoking javascript during jspx page load

    Hi All,
    I am using Jdeveloper 11gR2.
    I have embedded a small javascript snippet in the adf page to invoke a managed bean method during page load.
    <af:serverListener type="onloadEvent" method="#{AMBean.click}"/>
                <af:clientListener method="onLoadClient" type="load"/>
                <af:resource type="javascript">function onLoadClient(event) {AdfCustomEvent.queue(event.getSource(),"onloadEvent",{},false); return true;}</af:resource>
    In the associated managed bean method, I want to change the setContentStyle of all the input text field found during run time -
            System.out.println("There control is inside the listeners");
            FacesContext facesContext = FacesContext.getCurrentInstance();
            System.out.println("facesContext"+facesContext);
            UIViewRoot root = facesContext.getViewRoot();
            System.out.println("root - " +root);
            RichPanelFormLayout formClass = (RichPanelFormLayout)root.findComponent("db");
            System.out.println("formClass - " + formClass);
            List<UIComponent> uiComponentList = formClass.getChildren();
                  for (UIComponent uiComponent : uiComponentList) {
                      if (uiComponent instanceof RichInputText) {
                          //((RichInputText)uiComponent).setDisabled(false);
                          //((RichInputText)uiComponent).setColumns(100);
                         ((RichInputText)uiComponent).setContentStyle("width:200px");
                          System.out.println("uiComponent - " +uiComponent);
    Currently the javascript function "queues" the setContentStyle action for an action event, i.e. during the initial page load, the properties of text fields are not changed, however as soon as i click any button on the page, the text field width is reset to what I have defined in setContentStyle property.
    Is there a way to execute setContentStyle action as soon as the page loads initially?
    Best Regards,
    Ankit Gupta

    Hi Arun,
    Many thanks for the revert.
    The exact Jdeveloper version is 11.1.2.4.39.64.36.1.
    I have a scenario where in the the user will be navigated to a page to display an input form, but the underlying VO will change during runtime which means depending on the value selected by the user, he will be shown an ADF form accordingly.
    Also during runtime, the number of input text fields will change according to the number of attributes in underlying VO.
    Kindly advise based on the use case explained above.
    Best Regards,
    Ankit Gupta

  • No data found in report csv or pdf output on first page load

    No data found in report csv output on first page load. Report shows up on page, but no data found in csv or pdf output. I always need to submit the page and then it shows data in downloads. The page contains a form (read-only) with a report that references 4 page items by using something like the following:
    and b.employee_no = v('P5_EMPLOYEE_NO')
    and c.fisc_year_pk = v('P5_FISC_YEAR_PK')
    and b.job_class = v('P5_JOB_CLASS')
    and b.organization = v('P5_ORGANIZATION')
    Again, report in the page shows up except there is no data in downloads. Can anyone help me solve this problem? I'm running Oracle APEX 4.2.1 in Oracle database 11gR2.
    Thanks.

    Sounds like a classic session state issue.
    You need to populate you page items using page rendering computations to ensure they're set to session state.
    Or if the download is triggered from a button press, you need to ensure those page items are submitted to session state, perhaps via a PL/SQL action.

  • ADF ProcessScope -- I get a new AdfFacesContext on each page load

    I am trying to store some variables in the ADF processScope. But the next time the page is loaded and calls the managed bean methods, the AdfFacesContext is different, and so the processScope is empty. The managed bean is session scope, and I am setting the processScope variables in the bean's Java code.
    In particular this happens when I click on the af:table pagination links, e.g. the "next 25".
    How can I get access to the same AdfFacesContext (and therefore the same processScope) the next time the page loads and calls the managed bean?
    I am using JDeveloper 10.1.3.3.0.
    Here is the example code, and the output that is produced from my System.out.println statements:

    ====== Comments =========
    As you can see above, the AdfFacesContextImpl object has changed, so I have lost the ProcessScopeMap.
    Also, on the displayed page, the label is still "xyz 1" instead of changing to "xyz 2".
    Thanks for your help,
    JbL

    Thanks for the idea, Murph.
    I didn't need a session scope bean, request would be fine, I just was trying to make something work that would allow me access to the process scope attributes. I want to allow multiple browser windows searching on different objects independently, so I don't want to use session scope.
    I tried removing the variable declaration and setting/getting the processScope attribute in the setter/getter methods, to make the process scope attributes independent of the managed bean. But each time the page loads (by clicking the table navigation links), I still lose the process scope attributes. I tried with both session and request scope beans. Either way, in the getLoad() method, when I try to get the label from the process scope (using the new version of getLabel()), it is null.
    So the root problem is still there.
    For continued discussion on this more specific problem, see my separate thread "JSF ProcessScope attribute missing on page reload from af:table pagination"

  • Error while opening modal (skillbuilder plugin)  page on page load

    Hi all,
    I'm using 4.2.1. ( on 11GR2 ), theme 25.
    Skillbuilder Modal page plugin v2
    Modal pages are working great, on all kinds of events, but if I try to open one via a D.A. on page load it fails with "Uncaught TypeError: Object load has no method 'stopImmediatePropagation' " error (in the browser console).
    <edit>
    just found that this error is caused by the "cancel event" DA action which should be fired after the open modal dialog action. If I ommit this cancel event the modal page is not loaded but also no error is shown.
    </edit>
    Any ideas on how to fix this? In the end I just want to open a modal window after the page is loaded depending on the value of an item set when loading the page ( the branch sets an item value to indicate that the modal window should be opend ).
    Regards
    Bas

    Narrowed it down to change in behaviour between APEX 4.1 and APEX 4.2
    Page source for both versions is alsmost similar, besides the different APEX js libraries being loaded, so probably the source of the problem is somehow in there.
