Resizing movieclip with scrollbar text

Hi Experts,
Here I am trying to resize a movie clip which contains some dynamic text with scrollbar in a swf using mouse. I am able to resize the movie clip using "setProperty". But unable to control the behaviour of the scrollbar. when I am increasing the size of the movie clip the scrollbar should automatically disappear. But I am unable to do so. Can anyone help me??
Here is the link of the swf I am working on:
http://qs1252.pair.com/monarchm/test1/
Here is the code I have used for the resizer:
if (this._x <= 20) {
    setProperty(_root.cont.frames, _width, 20);
    setProperty(this, _x, 20);
} else {
    setProperty(_root.cont.frames, _width, this._x);
if (this._y <=20) {
    setProperty(_root.cont.frames, _height, 20);
    setProperty(this, _y, 20);
} else {
    setProperty(_root.cont.frames, _height, this._y);
Help me
srinivas

Thanks for your response. I should be more accurate here...
I am using two movie clips here. The first one is the "frames" in container and the  second one is "re-sizer". "_root.cont.frames" gets the _x and_y positions  according the to x, y positions of the "_root.cont.frames.re-sizer.re-sizer_btn".
The UI scrollbar I am using here is a flash component, and is a child of "_root.cont.frames"
This is my first thread ever! So I am learning the things here. Thanks  for your guidance. I will be more accurate moving further..
Thank You,
Srinivas

    var Font1_ = new Font1();

    this isn't working for me.. anyone know the best way to do this?
    I also want the text to be centered in the movieclip, with a border of around 2-4 pixels
    I am also not sure if i should be using text.length? any advice and input is greatly welcomed.
    thanks in advance!

    Essentially, you need to check for a change in .textWidth or .textHeight, which are different from .width and .height.
    This code works for me (assumes a background box called bg and a foreground text instance fg inside a moveclip and an X and Y bounds offset variable to say how far away you want the box from the text and a textFrameNudge to provide a tweak value).
         // Resize background box
         thisBox.bg.x = thisBox.fg.x - boundsOffsetX + textFrameNudge; // I'm using .4 as the tweak value for textFrameNudge
         thisBox.bg.y = thisBox.fg.y - boundsOffsetY;
         thisBox.bg.width = thisBox.fg.textWidth + boundsOffsetX*2 +textFrameNudge*thisBox.fg.getTextFormat().size;
         thisBox.bg.height = thisBox.fg.textHeight + boundsOffsetY*2;

  • Resizing textarea without squishing text

    I know there has got to be a simple way to do this, but I've
    just bought this Flash 8 Pro and can't find out how...
    I am trying to resize a text area from 270 pixels high to 135
    pixels high-- one half the height-- but every time I try this with
    various tools, the text that displays in the textarea gets scaled
    too, so the text becomes tiny in the y dimension and I can't read
    it. I only want to resize the bounding box, not scale it and
    everything in it... just the area. But how?

    Make sure you have selected the text area only and not a
    movieclip
    containing the text area.
    Next, make sure you resize using the resize tool and not by
    specifying a
    size in the properties box for width and height.

  • How Do You Make an Image Flow with the Text?

    Hello all,
    I am using CS4 InDesign on Windows Vista. I am fairly new to Indesign but try to do my research and homework well before asking what I hope is not a really dumb question.
    I am writing a book of approx. 350 pages that is an illustrated encyclopedia of 156 plants and their oils.
    Each 2 page spread is a single entry for a plant. The graphics frames on each spread are identical in size, position and styles for a consistent look throughout the document.As you can see (hopefully) each page is a single column. See screenshot below
    In order to overcome my first problem of positioning and sizing the graphics frames uniformly, I created the master pages with the graphics placeholders sized, positioned and formatted to my liking. This worked wonderfully and I placed all of my 300+ graphics by simply over riding each frame.
    Then in my editing I decided to add another 2 page spread somewhere in the middle of this fairly large document.
    What a NIGHTMARE. The text predictably shifted but now ALL of my graphics were no longer associated with the corresponding text! Arrrgghhh.I had not anticipated this behavior (used MS Word for 15 years) or I would have done something different.
    3 hours later I finished re -"placing" the images associated with the correct text.
    I researched the help file and found out about the neccessity of anchoring graphics to text. I have read through the threads in this forum, followed links to "indesignsecrets.com/make-an-image-flow-with-the-text" and " Working with anchored objects by Anne Marie Concepcion"
    My concerns are this.
    An inline graphic places the graphic back onto your text layer for some reason ( Previously my graphics each had their own layer)
    Not wanting to start (again) from scratch with my graphics I converted them to inline/custom anchored objects.
    But to select then cut then paste every pre existing graphic to anchor it inline seems to be cumbersome and counter intuitive although the top smaller graphic did position well and the text seemed to wrap ok.
    When I placed the larger bottom graphic on the left facing page using custom positioning I was not able to get the text to wrap at all.( The in line anchoring did not seem to allow for positioning on anything but the 'Y' axis).
    It seems that there would be a simpler way to place text and graphics where you want them and have them associate and flow together (or not) when you want them to and have text wrap easily around an anchored object without keyboard gymnastics. It would seem that the concept of a certain graphic being associated or linked with certain text would not be an unusual concept in desktop publishing.
    Am I missing something?
    Can you place an anchored graphics frame on the master page with your desired options?
    How would this be done if possible?
    Is there any other way (i.e grouping) to keep graphics associated with the desired text so that it flows together if extra pages are added?
    Is the fact that my graphics frames are on my master pages responsible for my text wrap difficulty? (I have text wrap enabled on my master pages)
    Are there any settings, redundant or otherwise, I need to be aware of?
    Thank you in advance for any suggestions or directions
    L.N.

    Hello Again,
    Thank You Bob but I am still a little fuzzy on this. I have already created object styles for the graphics frames. For instance the small graphic underneath the heading (Its a drop of oil) has an object style applied. Now I checked and it has the anchored object options checked in the style dialog box. When I reapply the style to the next similar graphics nothing happens. It is still not anchored. Do I need to create a new style based on "nothing" add my effects plus the anchoring options? Basically start over. If thats what I need to do thats OK. As to your instruction that object styles could accomodate this anchoring thing...thats what I thought too but somehow I can't get it to work. See object style dialog box screenshot below:
    For the larger graphic on the bottom of the left facing page. I still cannot get any text to wrap. In the screenshot example the text describing this particular plant doesn't go to the bottom of the page so the wrapping issue on this page is moot. However I have some entries where the body of the description is more involved and does go to the bottom of the page and the text WOULD need to wrap around the plant (larger ) graphic.
    Hi there Harb, Yes I found out early on that object styles can't apply size (that would be on my wish list for sure) That is why I found that creating my graphics frames on the master page with the correct size, effects and positioning tickled me so much. Can you believe I originally went through and MANUALLY resized and repositioned each and every 300+ graphics in this book but it still wasn't right. I'm nothing if not persistent. (Now if I could just get my grown sons to pick up their socks!)
    Anyway the master page graphics frames idea would be perfect if I could get the images to anchor in their respective spots on the master page as well.
    For your second suggestion. I am not clear about why I would need to break the threads of each spread so that each spread is a seperate article. Is the threading issue the thing that is causing my text to move on leaving their associated graphics behind? If so how do I go about doing this?
    So to recap:
    1. I need to know if I can modify my object style or recreate from scratch with the anchoring option (as I said it didn't work)
    2. Can't get text to wrap around the Custom anchored graphic at bottom of page at all
    3. Im not clear on the breaking the threading on the spreads
    I am willing to go back through and start from scratch (new master pages, styles etc ) if neccesary. This book is the culmination of 7 years of research and artwork.Basically the project is DONE. Now if I can just format it correctly.
    I can't thank you both enough for your time, suggestions, expertise and patience.
    Thanks again

  • Help with Scrolling Text

    I am a big iMovie fan, but I have just had a problem while attempting to create a video game trailer. I have never experienced this before, and I do not know how to get by it.
    Ok. So I have 20 seconds of scrolling text, and about 28 lines of text. 247 characters with no spaces if you really want to know. I have 20 seconds of video behind it.
    Here's the problem: The last five lines of text are cut off. They are completely normal: Helvectia, Bold, 16 size, Left sided, white. There is no fancy text or images around it besides for the video behind it. (It played fine before with no video behind it).
    I've tried resizing the video, the text length, everything I can think of, and nothing works. Please help ASAP.
    I am running this on a MacBook, iMovie '08, the total time of video is 41 seconds. The video behind the scrolling text is a .mov file.
    Thanks!

    Note: The problem seems to have fixed itself. I do not know what the problem was, but I was messing around with the text and I noticed the missing lines were back. If anybody knows what the problem was, or wants to contribute to this post, please do so.
    Thanks!

  • _xmouse on resized movieclip

    I am creating a video player and have a scrub bar which you
    can click on the timeline to get a point in the video.
    The player is dynamic in size and can be opened at any size
    you require, set by the movie dimensions in the HTML.
    I have the controls for the player resizing and positioning
    dynamically with the width of the movie, so the scrub bar is
    dynamically changed in length.
    Everything works except when I click on the bar and retrieve
    the _xmouse position is is still returning the original coordinates
    of the movieclip, its size when created.
    The width of the bar in pixels is being returned correctly
    when I check, it is just the _xmouse coordinates which are
    returning original values.
    e.g. (for ease I have rounded things up)
    If I increase the width of the movieclip from its original
    400px to 800px wide, when I click 3/4 of the way along the resized
    movieclip I get a result of 300px instead of 600px.
    Do I have to reset something?
    Thanks

    use:
    content_mc.work_btn.mouseChildren=false
    content_mc.work_btn.buttonMode=true;

  • Can't resize column to fit text

    Can't resize column to fit text in numbers.  option is "grayed-out" no matter what I do

    It is either a glitch or a rather unfun new thing. No one knows for sure. You do have a bit more control if you go into your photos app, find your photo and tap on the little box with the arrow poking out of it. That allows you to send it to be wallpaper. You can do some scaling, although not as much as you used to.
    Finding work arounds is about all you can do until it's fixed.

  • JScrollPane with scrollbar as needed packs to the wrong size.

    Hi!
    I just noticed a strange problem when packing a JScrollPane with scrollbar policy "as needed" and wondered if it's me or if it is a real bug in Swing.
    I create a JFrame with a JScrollPane in it and a JPanel as viewportview. The JPanel (called "stuffPanel") contains a few components which give it a preferred size, and the JScrollPane is set to grow as needed if the window grows. A button in the center of the stuffPanel will invoke pack() on the window when clicked.
    Now, if I resize the window such that the JScrollPane can't display the entire stuffPanel, I get scrollbars as expected. If I click the pack button the window correctly resizes to the preferred size (without scrollbars).
    On the other hand, if I resize the window to become larger than the preferred size and then click the pack button, the window (and the stuffPanel) is resized to include 17 pixels of extra size around the edges.
    Put simply, pack() will resize the JPanel to different sizes depending on whether the scrollbars of the JScrollPane were visible at the time. Note that this only occurs when you're using the "scrollbars as needed" scrollbar policy.
    An even more interesting situation occurs if you resize the window to include (for example) only horizontal scrollbars and then packs the window repeatedly...
    Code for a Java app which displays the strange behaviour is included below:
    import java.awt.*;
    import java.awt.event.*;
    import javax.swing.*;
    public class TestJScrollPane {
      static {
        try {
          UIManager.setLookAndFeel(UIManager.getSystemLookAndFeelClassName());
        catch (Exception e) { }
      private JFrame mainWindow;
      public TestJScrollPane() {
        mainWindow = createMainWindow();
        mainWindow.setDefaultCloseOperation(JFrame.EXIT_ON_CLOSE);
        mainWindow.pack();
        mainWindow.show();
      public JFrame createMainWindow() {
        JFrame window = new JFrame("Test of scrollpane");
        window.getContentPane().setLayout(new GridBagLayout());
        final JPanel stuffPanel = new JPanel();
        stuffPanel.setBorder(BorderFactory.createTitledBorder("Collection of stuff"));
        stuffPanel.setLayout(new GridBagLayout());
        JLabel stuffLabel = new JLabel("A label");
        JTextField stuffField = new JTextField(10);
        JButton stuffButton = new JButton("Pack the window");
        JList listOfStuff = new JList();
        listOfStuff.setListData(new String[] {"Fish", "Bird", "Mammal", "Insect", "Spider"});
        GridBagConstraints gbc = new GridBagConstraints();
        gbc.gridx = 0;
        gbc.gridy = 0;
        stuffPanel.add(stuffLabel, gbc);
        gbc.gridx = 1;
        stuffPanel.add(stuffField, gbc);
        gbc.gridy = 1;
        gbc.gridx = 0;
        gbc.gridwidth = 2;
        stuffPanel.add(stuffButton, gbc);
        gbc.gridy = 2;
        gbc.fill = GridBagConstraints.BOTH;
        stuffPanel.add(listOfStuff, gbc);
        final JScrollPane scroller = new JScrollPane(JScrollPane.VERTICAL_SCROLLBAR_AS_NEEDED, JScrollPane.HORIZONTAL_SCROLLBAR_AS_NEEDED);
        scroller.setViewportView(stuffPanel);
        gbc = new GridBagConstraints();
        gbc.fill = GridBagConstraints.BOTH;
        gbc.weightx = 1;
        gbc.weighty = 1;
        window.getContentPane().add(scroller, gbc);
        stuffButton.addActionListener(new ActionListener() {
          public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent e) {
            mainWindow.pack();
            System.out.println("Stuff panel size: " + stuffPanel.getSize());
            System.out.println("Stuff panel preferred size:" + stuffPanel.getPreferredSize());
            System.out.println("Scroller size: " + scroller.getSize());
            System.out.println("Scroller preferred size: " + scroller.getPreferredSize());
        return window;
      public static void main(String[] args) {
        new TestJScrollPane();
    }

    Why would the JScrollPane be as big as the entire
    frame when you added 800x600 panels on all sides of
    it? It's going to be in the center surrounded by
    huge panels. Thanks, kablair. However, if you look at the code, these panels are not 800x600 on all sides. The north and south panels only add a combined height of 100, and the east and west panels only add a combined width of 100. so the whole window, minus insets, should be 900x700.
    Anyway, i took the advice of the guy above, and that has gotten me much closer. In the bigger app that I'm trying to calculate the size, now I'm only 2 pixels away from the true size, although I can't figure out what I'm forgetting.

  • Iindesign to PPT with editable text

    Is it possible to convert indesign documents to PPT with editable text? Thanks

    I just recreate the files in Powerpoint, far more effective in my opinion.
    I have Cs5.5 and Powerpoint 2003.
    Package the CS5.5 file up to gather all the images to one location.
    Extract/copy all the text to a word file or directly to the powerpoint stage.
    You can then drage the images from the Links Folder directly into Powerpoint.
    Powerpoint has a Crop Tool and you can resize images. The PPT presentation becomes a massive file, but you can go through each Format Picture options to resample and trim the cropped images.
    I've been able to Place most image formats from .ai to eps, tif to psd to jpg, gif to PNG.
    Powerpoint is very versatile in this regard.

  • How do i?? Trying to make a slideshow with animat text to play on 16:9 HDTV

    ok. In a rush here.
    How do i setup my sequence so i can import photos and add animated text to create a 4 minute animated slideshow. The end result will be burned onto DVD and played on a 16:9 HD Plasma or LCDTV.
    What is the settings for the sequence?
    How do i export?
    What program should i use to burn to DVD?
    Do i need to go get a special DVD player to play this DVD?
    If done correctly will i get a clear image that will fit on a 16:9TV and look near HD quality?
    Thanks in advance to everyone!
    Sincerely,
    John Taylor Cook
    MAC PRO   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

    The DVD player you want to use will not deal with HD DVD's... so you need to make an SD project in the end.
    Set your sequence settings to DVCPROHD 1080i 60... Edit in that sequence. The jitter in your stills could be caused by a number of things, but normally if you will downsize the pictures to a size not much bigger than your sequence settings' size they may well look a lot better. In the case of the DVCPROHD settings above, you'd make them no larger than 1500 pixels in either direction, and no larger than 300 dpi... they must also be RGB stills not CMYK... You need Photoshop or similar to change them and resize them with... make sure their format is RGB and not much larger than what I've suggested for size. Tiffs or Picts work better than JPEGs too. JPEG's take a lot longer to render...
    If these stills are smaller than that to begin with... might be best to use the standard DV NTSC anamorphic sequence setting, and the following workflow would work for either case. It's just that the HD settings would keep things in a higher resolution to start with, and the better you start with, the better the end product will be. Using uncompressed HD settings would be even better, but it takes a pretty serious mac setup to deal with these huge files. Fast array for playback and Capture card for monitoring externally with...
    When you get finished, simply choose File/Export/Using Compressor. It's recommended by many to NOT use any rendered media... i.e. trash your renders before you export the sequence to Compressor. This is done from the Tools menu (Render manager) just check on the sequence you're exporting there and trash the renders for it en masse.
    In compressor choose a 16:9 SD preset that is the shortest you can use... i.e. if your sequence is shorter than 90 minutes, use the high quality dual pass VBR preset for 90 minutes... Then import the resulting SD MPEG files into DVD SP and create your Standard Def DVD with them.

    If the video on the timeline is longer than 10 minutes the problem will be remarkable. The response times adding a title is getting longer(2-15 seconds).
    As the video is now 18 minutes the response time is after each action(resizing of letters or any changes of the text) up to 30 seconds or the program crashes completely.
    Project settings are the following:

  • Problems with importing text messages from PC Suit...

    Problems with importing text messages from PC Suit 7.1.18.0 to my Nokia 5800
     I am trying to import a csv file that contains text messages (Note that this file was created using PC Suit 7.1.18.0) to a subfolder that I have created to My Folders but PC Suits only imports the text messages to the Draft folder. Note that initially it shows that the messages are import in the correct folder but after a refresh it shows them in the Draft Folder. Is their any setting that I should change in the PC Suit or the phone? My computer runs on Windows XP Service Pack 3 and the Nokia 5800 was upgraded to the latest firmware v20.0.012
     Thanks for your help

    Most phones only allows importing of draft and archived box for SMS.
    To do a restoring, you need to backup the SMS as a .nbu file using PC Suite and restore later.
    If you got an SD card, you can also do a backup on the SD Card (backup.arc) then restore later (reset and restore: backup.arc and mmc).
    What's the law of the jungle?

  • Can't send photos with a text message

    Every time I try to send a photo from my Camera Roll with a text message it thinks about it for an interminable time then drops leaving an exclamation mark next to the message. It used to be ok but stopped about a week ago. Any ideas anyone?

    You're not alone! I have been searching for resolving this problem but I still have the problem.
    Things you might want to check is that MMS is "on". Get to this by settings- messaging.
    Check that "cellular data" is on.
    try to power the iPhone off for a few minutes, then turn back on.
    The only thing I have not tried is to reset the network. What I have read is that it wil not affect contacts, media, music. Tap settings- general, then scroll to the botton and tap reset, then tap reset network settings.
    I alo wanted to mention that I have no problem sending a photo in an sms/mms message to other ios devices. The photo and text goes through. It's just with other reciepients that have a different device.
    I also have Verizon as the carrier and I tried the *228 to program. My phone is also supplied by an enterprise, my work, and reading this Apple troubleshooting, the APN (access network), could have something to do with it on the settings or configuration of the server.

  • Please help! I defragged my hard drive and now Illustrator CS6 is trying to open all of my complex Illustrator files with a "Text Import Options" box as if they are text files, and they are not opening!

    Please help! Illustrator CS6 started trying to open all of my complex.ai files with a "Text Import Options" box as if they were text files, and they are not opening!  Help!

    Hi Monika,
    I have spent the last two or three days trying to do what you suggested.  I uninstalled Adobe 6 from Windows.  Some files that CS6 placed on my system during installation remained, including fonts and .dll files.
    I had to abandon the Cleaner Tool you suggested because in one screen it allowed me to specify removing CS6 only, but on the following screen it only gave on option to remove ALL Adobe programs.  I could not do that because I didn't have the serial number handy for CS3 in case I want to reinstall it at some point.
    I tried to get technical help with the Cleaner Tool problem but no definitive help was available, so I reinstalled CS6 again without having the benefit of the Cleaner Tool.  I tried to get the serial number for CS3 so I could use the Cleaner Tool but spent 2 wasted hours in chat.  Even though I had a customer number, order number, order date, place of purchase, the email address used AND 16 digits of the serial number, in two hours the agent couldn't give me the serial number.  After two hours I had nothing but instructions to wait another 20 minutes for a case number.
    Illustrator CS6 is still trying to open some backups as Text and otherNone of the problems have been fixed.  I have tried to open/use the .ai files in CS6 installed on another system and am getting the same result, so I don't think the software was damaged by the cleaner.  The hard drive cleaner is well-known and I've run it many times without any problem to previous versions of Illustrator or any other programs.
    When I ordered, the sale rep promised good technical support and gave me an 800 number, but after I paid the $2000, I learned that the 800 number she gave me doesn't support CS6 and hangs up on me.  Adobe doesn't call it a current product even though they just sold it to me about 3 weeks ago.
    Would appreciate any help you experts can offer.  If I can't solve this, the last backup I can use was from June and I will have lost HUNDREDS of hours of work and assets that I cannot replace.
    Exhausted and still desperately in need of help...
