Resource Assignment without Project Resource Management Module

Hi Dina,
We are implementing Oracle projects for one of our customers. The customer does not want to implement Project Resource Management module. Is it possible to assign resources to a project or create a new requirement using the Resources tab in Project screen (HTML page) without implementing the Project Resource Management module. Pls let us know.

Sri

Hi
With Project Management you can assign resources to the work plan. Resources might be named people or generic resource by job.
You can track planned hours by resource versus actual time worked, You can look at roll-up of planned hours across multiple projects for the same resource, or summarization of planned and actual hours using the RBS.
However, you will not get the functionality of demand published to resource managers, and the search functionality for available person to join the requiring project.

how can i link between project module and order management
    module in order form .
    thanks,

    Hi,
In Order Management, you can enter Project Number and Task number against each order line. This can done, by going to "Others" tab on Order Lines window.
project_id and task_id columns are there on oe_order_lines_all table.
This can be linked to pa_projects_all.project_id column
    Hope this helps,

  • Collection Management Module

    Hi all gurus,
Can somenody tell me how many hours a single FI-consultant might have to spend to configure the complete Collection module? I am the only SAP resource at the client side with no ABAPer or any other FICO team. Neither do I have a MM consultant. Please guide me with the resources required to configure Collection management module.
Please be realistic guys as I have to mention it in a meeting to save my job.
    Thank you,
    SONY

    Hi Sony.
OK to start with you wont need any MM resource.
In terms of the config, it can be pretty easy, but you need to consider how the client want to use the system?
Have you designed the Collections Org structure?
Do you know anything about Collections Management, from a SAP part of from a business process part.
The system is fairly open, so I would allow some time for ABAP as the process is held together by BADI's.
You also need to have a good understanding of the Business Partner processes, how they work, and how they interact with customers.
To give you an example of a Dispute and Collections Management project. We had around 60 days of FICO time, around 60 days of ABAP time, around 30 days of Workflow time.
This included the design of the system, the build of the system and the full three test cycles, Unit testing, Integration testing and User Acceptance testing.
This does not include the data migration, which you need to consider and the training.
I would suggest you contact a SAP PArtner consultancy to assist you.

  • Uploading capital planning/cost control/project delivery mgmt modules in Primavera Unifier 9.12

    Hello All,
I have successfully installed Primavera Unifier R9.12 on my system. I had searched a lot but I didnt find any document which tells you how to upload capital planning/cost control/project delivery management module in Primavera Unifier R9.12. Can anyone pls share the steps or document.
    Thanks
    AKHIL

    HI Akhil,
I'd love to help you in this area but i only know the product from a tech/install side of things.
My functional colleagues had the exact same gripe that you have regarding sample data - unfortunately with the way Unifier is designed in regards to it being both customizable and difficult to delete/change some objects it doesn't quite lend itself to having sample data the way P6 does.
    Good luck playing/learning the tool

  • What  is difference btw project Assignment, Resource Assignment and task Assignment.

    Hi,
I am new project accounting Module .
what  is difference btw project Assignment, Resource Assignment and task Assignment.

Project Assignment, Resource Assignment refers to the resource management part and Task assignment is basically the work assignment to the resource.
An assignment/requirement is created in PJR for create demand for the resource requirement of the project and when the resource is aligned he can be assigned to the task in the work plan.
Refers to the top down approach in this case.
Additionally a resource can be assigned to the work plan and a assignment can be created to get the resource allocated to the project.
Refers to the bottom up approach in this case

  • Project Resource Management

Given all of the Oracle Project solutions out there (EBS, Primavera, Fusion, PeopleSoft), which of these is the best choice for a company that would like to do resource allocation, forecasting, etc? (taking Oracle's longterm vision in this area into perspective)

    Hi
The module Oracle Projects Resource Management deals only with human resources, employees, contingent workers, candidates.
This module is integrated with Oracle HRMS.

  • Hiding/Disabling the resources tab under project management.

    Hi,
We need to hide/disable the resources tab in project management screen. We are not using project resource management module and also the Profile Option "PA: Licensed to use Project Resource Management" has been set to "No".
Can someone suggest a solution for the same.
    Regards,
    Rakesh Menon

I already got an response to the issue from Julia through Oracle Community...
    Below is the solution -
For the Project Management Responsibility where you want your Resource Tab to be disabled:
Go to a System Administrator responsibility - Security - Responsibility-Define.
Look for your resposibility of Project Management.
Under Menu Exclusion Tab add a line with Type Menu and name "Project Resource Sub Tab".
Click Save button and then go to check in your responsibility if the Resources Tab is disabled. (it should be).

  • CProjects-MS Project - import and export of task-role-resource assignment

    Hi,
    We are on PPM5.0
We are currently working on cProjects-MSP client integration.
What we have not been able to configure for import/export so far is:
    1. Task-Role-Resource assignment
Whereas we are are able to import/export the "Person Responsible" and "Role Responsible" fields, we have not been able to align the task-role-resource assignments.
We see a "Resource Name" column (Standard) in MSP. When we click on the drop down, we see all the roles from the cProjects project. But the alignment does not happen.
    Summary:
On export and import, we need to automatically see the role-resource-task assignment. How is this possible?
    2. Code field to "VC_BUPA_GUID" gets a number which is not the BP ID.
Is it possible to import the BP numbers in MSP. Also, how can we assign a number to the role in MSP such that on import into cProjects, the role is already staffed with the corresponding BP.
    3. Is it possible to export all the resources (BPs) into a drop down in MSP - like we see the Project Type, Role Type etc.
    Thanks.

    Hi Anuradha,
    Thanks for your inputs.
When we export to MSP, we see the cProjects roles under the "Resource Name" drop down in MSP.
However, they are only seen when we expand on the drop down.
For e.g. RoleA, and RoleB are two roles in cProjects project, along with many other roles.
Both of these roles are assigned to a task, say TASK1.
When exported to MSP, we expect both of these roles to show against TASKI, as "RoleA, RoleB" under the "Resource Name" column. However, these roles are not seen. They only appear as elements of drop down, along with all other roles in the project, when we explicitly click on the drop down.
Please let me know if I are missing out on something.
    Thanks.

  • Project Server 2013 for Resource Planning & Project Portfolio Management

We are looking to  use project server 2013 for resource and project portfolio management.  We are an IT department of approximately 600 growing to 1,000 within the next several years.
We would like to us PS2013 to do the following :
    Manage Portfolio of Projects
    Manage Resources against this Portfolio
Calculate Project Finances using resource roles and rates
I would be grateful to have both comments on experience , both positive and negative.
    Thank You

Many teams within organizations are turning to Project Server to help them control resources, deliverables and costs better.    It does resource management very well with work & cost resources, baseline costs, material costs, budget costs and
out of the box earned value analysis (EV).  The Strategy (portfolio) component is very powerful and it will help you identify project that align to your objects then do what if analysis to find the right mix of projects.
Here are a couple of things you should think about when moving to PS2013:
    1) Who will be using the tool?  If it is a mix of onsite staff, remote staff, vendors, contractors etc. you may want to think about a hosted solution.
    2) Training.  Don't assume everyone will just magically 'know' how to use the tool.  Train everyone (team members, PMs, Executives) then train them again.  It's the only way to truly get the value out of the tool.
    3) Who will manage the system?  This is not a typical application.  The right administrator needs SharePoint, Project Server, SQL Server,  MS Project, Analysis Services and SQL Report writing skills.  Please note that much of this can
be learned by the right person but DEFINITELY find the right person.
    4) Don't start customizing right out of the box.  You will get frustrated.  Adjust your organization to the tool early on.  I know that is easier said than done but you need a realistic approach to get tool acceptance moving early.
    5) Use workflows but don't use them right out of the gate.  Workflows are great but I suggest you wait until phase 2 or 3 to start aligning them to your business processes.
    6) Lastly and most importantly, you must first establish your own business processes THEN  align them to the tool.  DO NOT assume the tool will create business process for you.  You must think about how you are going to initiate a project,
how are you going to track deliverables, how will time sheets be managed, etc.  Get to a whiteboard, crack open Visio and start building and establishing your processes now.  PS 2013 is pretty flexible and usually will align well with existing business
    processes.
And don't forget to hire a good consultant.  They can be brought in during key phases of your roll-out to add value, help you avoid risks, and provide you with best practice advice.
    Good luck.

  • Change Default resources Assignment Owner in Project Professional, in the checked-out Enterprise Resource Pool?

    Hi,
i'm not able to change the default Assignment Owner (massive) in the Checked-out Enterprise resource pool in Project Professional 2013.
I've also unlocked the "Windows account edit" in the Register Editor.
Do you know if is this possible or i have to change it for each resource one by one???
    Thanks
    Best regards
    Daniele
    Daniele

    Hello Daniele,
I think what you are seeing is by design behavior. Per below article you can set the Default Assignment owner in Project Web Access and it appears in various places in Project client.
    http://office.microsoft.com/en-in/project-help/default-assignment-owner-resource-field-HA010167482.aspx
If you want to set the same default assignment owner for multiple resources then you can try bulk edit option in resource center.
    Hope this helps.
    Thank you,

  • Task types without resources assigned

    Hi,
I hope someone can help me figure this out. May sound dumb, but hey, no harm in asking.
Since task types, resources and effort driven option all tie in together, does it matter if using Fixed Units or Fixed Duration for tasks don't have resources assigned and are
not effort driven? What difference will it make since 2 entities are not being used?
FYI - Project tasks are currently as Fixed Units.
    Thanks

    Hi,
As you well defined that all these parameters (Work, Work type, Units & Durations) are tied and formula too works based on the values in these fields. Duration = Work/Units so the moment you take off units from the formula you are taking off the calculation
functionality (related to these parameters) of the tool and everything gets dependent on your manual inputs.
Even though based on the value you manually enter in work or % complete your actual work and remaining work plus remaining durations etc. do get calculated, yet I would say assign the resources to reach out to factual calculations.

  • Is there a limit of how many resources can be shared via a single Resource Pool in Project 2010 Professional standalone?

We have a single master project resource pool of over 150 resources that are shared across let's say 10-15 sub projects or sharer files.
We are using Microsoft Project Professional (standalone no project server)
Are you aware of any limitations outside of project server with resource pool and sharing, or should we be using Project server (as I have read a lot of articles about resource pool sharing working better in project server)
I'd like to get clarification on:
    1. I read that the calendars for resources (of which there could be many shift patterns etc.) should always be created in the master project only, not in the sharer files. In my testing I see that a shared resource also brings the additional calendars from
the Master Project file - and can be chosen in the calendar column from Resource sheet.
    2. Each sharer file can have it's own specific project calendar, but the resource calendar (used by the assigned resources from the pool) will drive the scheduling (as per normal), unless;
    3. A specific task has a 'Task Calendar' applied to it AND "scheduling ignores resource calendars" is ticked.
I am trying to find an article that addresses, in detail, the limitations or 'look out fors' in this area.  I have found plenty about how to create and share resources, but this is more troubleshooting.
Any advice or direction that can be given would be appreciated. Thanks.

No limit to resources, but linked master and resource pools are at high risk of file corruption if you rename, over-write or move a linked file without removing it from the master and pool first. Files will corrupt, its when not if.
Master files should never have any resources or tasks in them, only inserted projects.
I much prefer creating master files with the Link option deselected. This copies all data and consolidates resource info (so no pool needed). I record a macro to create new masters each week. This method has no corruption risk.
Your alternative now is to experiment with Project Server. By far the best way to prototype a system is to get Project Online through Microsoft, ProjectHosts or Bemo. It will give you access to a vanilla project server very quickly and cost for a few months
testing is trivial for a few users.
If you go ahead with a full implementation I strongly recommend getting a qualified Project Server partner to help you implement the full system.

  • Levelling: Work Distribution based on Resource Capacity and Project Priorities.

    Hi team,
I have inherited about 25 projects and 15 resources spread across these projects. We use project server 2010 to manage projects....we launch any lest a new project each month. We run Weekely modelling.Having a nightmare managing shared resources. Hoping
that I can get some of my questions answered here and bring back some semblance of sanity.....so here goes my first question.....
    lets assume I have two resources;
resource1 whose allocation for project activities is 75%. His capacity in resource center view in pwa is 6 hours and resource 2 who has 8 hours capacity per day.
let us assume there is a 28 hour, fixed work  task on which both the resources are assigned.
let us assume that this task can start on jan1st -
scenario1: both the resources are working on only 1 project.
is the project server smart enough to assign 12 hours to resource1 and 16 hours to resource2, so that both of them finish at same time?
scenario2: a higher priority project gets introduced in the portfolio because of which resource1 will not be available till 2nd Jan to Start work.
is the tool smart enough to assign more work to resource2 to ensure that both of them finish the task on project1 same time?
    Thanks in advance...
    Lakshmi

If you assign a single person to a Fixed Work task they will work on it for as long as it takes at their default Maximum Units.
If you add a second person the task will take less time and the work will be apportioned based upon both resources maximum units.
If you specify the work on the task before assigning the first resource (add the work column to a tabular view and enter a value in the work cell for a task) Microsoft Project will behave as
you are looking for in your question.
For example I create a new Fixed Work task and it shows with 1d? duration - I enter 28 hours work in the work cell - the task still shows 1d? duration. I assign a person to the task who works to the same base calendar as the project but who has maximum units
of 75% defined and can therefore work 6 ours per day.
I assign them to the task and the duration changes to 4.67 days - this is how long it will take someone who works 6 hours per day to complete 28 hours work. Technically speaking the duration is 4.6666 recurring days but project only shows 2 decimal places.
If I know assign an additional resource to the same task and that person works 8 hours per day as their maximum units are 100% the duration will reduce to 2 days and the work will be apportioned 12/16 to the two resources.
So the tool is smart enough to behave in the way you are expecting in Scenario 1.
It will not however make decisions for you to address Scenario 2 unless you engage in
"Multi-Project Resource Levelling" if you do this and your Projects do have different priority values then Resource Levelling will deploy resource to the more important project first in cases where a resource has conflicting assignments across
projects in the same window of time.

  • How assign a "Project Manager" for a new project?

    Hello,
I need to know about the "Project Manager" in a new project.
Does the "Resource Manager" build the team and assign a "Project Manager"?

It totally depends on your organization process.
Normally PMO creates project, build team, assign resources to tasks, then while save and  publish the projec assign Project manager as owner for the project plan.
If you have Resource manager in your organization then he can build the team for the project publish it then PMO or project manager can assign the resource to the task then save and publish the plan.
IF project manager has idea about resources then he can also build the team and assign resource to the task.
Note :- once PMO or resource manager build the team and publish the project then Project owner need to open the project plan add new field in the plan STATUS MANAGER and select his name for all task for which he will give the approval to the actual of the
    task send by resources.
By default who ever will create project act as STATUS MANAGER for all the task.
