Resources Cannot See Timsheet Tasks in PWA 2010

We have 4 resources who cannot see any tasks listed on their timesheets in PWA 2010.  For one resource this started a week ago, prior to that they could see the tasks.  For another resource the problem started today, earlier this week this person
could see his tasks.  For another resource it happened 3-4 weeks ago.  Nothing that we are aware of has changed with the projects, their Resource Records or on their computers.
In addition to not being able to see anything on their timesheets in PWA, they cannot see any projects listed in Project Center.
We are at a lose for what might be causing this.  Any ideas/suggestions?

Hi Dennykat,
Are those resources part of the "team member" security group? Ensure that their permissions have not been modified in any ways. They also might have been removed from the project team.
When you go to the resource center, select the resources and view assignments, can you actually view their assignments?
Then you could check:
Are the resource their assignments owner (insert the "assignment owner" column in Project Pro)?
Is the project correctly published with no error messages in the queue?
Is the "publish" value to "YES" for all resources assignments?
Are any filters applied in the PWA timesheet view of the users?
When they click on "add row" then "from existing assignments", can they see their assignments?
Try to open a delegation session for those users and check what you actually can see.
Hope this helps.

  • MS Project Professional 2007 resource loaded .mpp file published to EPM server but resources can't see their tasks in PWA

    Hi all:
I'm using MS Project Professional 2007 and I created the schedule as an .mpp file and assigned resources before I loaded the schedule to the EPM server. I created the resource names consistently with the names in the Enterprise resource pool and when I go into
tools / assign resources and filter on enterprise resources, I see the resources I assigned to my project associated with the correct tasks. The only problem is that when these resources go into PWA, they can't see their assigned tasks even after I save and
publish the project. If I create a new resource assignment while I am connected to the server, then the resource can see the new assignment, but I don't want to have to completely recreate the project assignments to remedy this situation. Can anyone tell me
another way to fix it so that resources begin to see their assignments in PWA and can enter their time there?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    David

Hey Dale.  Published = Yes on all tasks.  That's not it.
But you definitely hit the mark on Assignment Owner.  That must be where the problem is.  When I read that I remembered that when I go into PWA all the project tasks show up under My Tasks, which seemed wrong to me and I asked the administrator
about that.  he told me it was because I was the project owner.  Now I know that was not a correct response on his part and I'll point it out to him.
I did check the Resources and Assignment Owner was blank.  I tried to set it to be the Resource and it's a locked field.  I can't do it.  It doesn't surprise me that this field is locked because I suspect the administrator controls the
Enterprise Resource pool.  But what does it tell you that this field is blank.  Since I'm getting the tasks in my My Task list, I expected to find my name there.
    Anything else I should check?
Anything I should tell the admin about how to make the Resources the owners of their own tasks.  I assume that should be the default.  That can be corrected just as easily in the Resource Sheet View as in the Resource Usage view, I assume
    -- is that correct?
Thanks again for helping me figure out what the problem is.

  • Resource cannot see their assigned tasks on the Timesheet page

One of the resource is not able to see tasks assigned to him in his timesheet after publishing the project. I have checked all possible reasons listed in the the document below.
    http://projeqz.freshdesk.com/support/articles/169136-team-members-cannot-see-their-assigned-tasks-on-the-timesheet-page-or-task-page-in

    Hi Project Help,
In addition to the reasons mentionned in the article below (booking type and assignment owner), check the following:
The publish field for the assignments must contains "YES",
The project must be published successfully (with no errror messages in the queue),
The resource must be an enterprise resource and not a local resource,
You must look at the correct time period,
You must ensure that there are no filters in the timesheet view,
Then if it is a newly created task (after the timesheet was created), try inserting the assignment using the "insert row" button,
If none of above work, for the assignments in question, change the assignment owner for any other resource, publish the project, change back the assignment owner to the right resource and publish again the project,
Finally, remove the assignment and create it again (and publish).
    Hope this helps,

  • Project Server 2013 - Cannot see project schedule in PWA

Project Server 2013 and Project Pro 2013
I have admin authority but for some of the projects loaded to the server, and published, i cannot see the Schedule option in the left frame. At least on project has this option available but several others do not. For the projects where I can't see the schedules:
    - Some of these projects were created with imported MPP files from Project 2010, and imported using the wizard,
    - Some were created with imported XML files from Project 2010, and imported using the wizard
    - Some were created with Project Pro 2013 and saved, published to the P13 server.
Are there some obvious things that I should check as a new admin to this version of Project Server? I'm stumped.
For all of the above projects (with the issue or not) I can succesfully see everything in Project Professional 2013, and everything seems to function normally in the publish process.

    Hi,
the first thing to check would be the EPT (Enterprise Project Type) of those projects. Go to server settings, Enterprise Project Types, select the appropriate project type and ensure that the Schedule page is on the left side of the section "New Project
    Page/Project Detail Pages".
    Hope this helps,

  • Cannot see SWFVISU tasks in Portal UWL after re-registering

    Hi,
    I am using EP7.01 SP3, ESS 1.0 SP 15, ECC6.
I do not see the tasks listed in SWFVISU in UWL even after registering the system alias in UWL Administrator. I have registered the alias on webflow connector, cleared cache. Logged off,
logged on and I still dont see the tasks.
I additionaly went to R3 transaction SWU_OBUF and synchronized the runtime buffer.
Then registered on UWL Admin, cleared cache.
    Any ideas on this?
    RD

    Hi Pramod,
    Thanks you for response.
I have restarted the portal, but it still does not show the tasks especially the ones for leave.
The portal landscape is a Global Portal as the consumer and the HR Portal(ESS MSS and other packages are installed) as the provider.
Im trying this directly on the HR Portal.
Do you think the Global portal has an effect on this?
I need to find a solution for this, but as a workaround is it possible to add the leave itemtypes(there are 3 item types for leave) to the current UWL. For example:
    <ItemType name="uwl.task.webflow.TS12300097.SAP_R3_HumanResources" connector="WebFlowConnector" defaultView="DefaultView" defaultAction="launchWebDynPro" executionMode="default">
          <ItemTypeCriteria systemId="SAP_R3_HumanResources" externalType="TS12300097" connector="WebFlowConnector"/>
          <Actions>
            <Action name="launchWebDynPro" groupAction="" handler="SAPWebDynproLauncher" returnToDetailViewAllowed="yes" launchInNewWindow="yes" launchNewWindowFeatures="resizable=yes,scrollbars=yes,status=yes,toolbar=no,menubar=no,location=no,directories=no">

  • How can I see my tasks on the screen

I want to schedule a new event. I can do this, but I cannot see it on the screen under the calendar. Can anyone help.
    Thanks

Thanks for your reply, but I am talking about tasks not events. I can see my events, I cannot see any tasks below that. I used to be able to, but they have disappeared. I can plan a new task, but it never shows anywhere on my screen after i have planned it.

  • PWA 2010 - Displaying summary task levels in the Timesheet

    LS
We use 2 summary task levels for some projects and I am strugging to get the summary task info displayed in the timesheet (needed for clarity to distinguish between same tasks under different summary tasks).
to display summary level one (of one) I use the task hierarchy field successully (if and only if I so the first project publish from the client - not from the browser).
With 2 summary levels present in the project plan, I can't get the task hierarchy field to display anything - if it did display what should I expect it to show - task summary 1, or 2, or both?
All help appreciated (what if i could just get those pesky PMs so simplify their GANTTS :) - working on that too...)
    A reluctant Texas Tonie

My company just upgraded from Project 2003 to Project 2010. In PWA 2003 timesheet view, we were able to see our summary tasks, as well as the Task IDs. I cannot find a way to display either in PWA 2010. I've read the above notes, and I have to believe that
there is some way to create a custom view or change the existing Timesheet View to allow the display of where each task is in the plan. I've tried creating a custom Timesheet View, using the "Timesheet" template, but that doesn't provide an option to select
either field (Summary task or Task ID).
Here's the deal: I have a project plan that has over 1,800 tasks, many of which repeat multiple times within each phase and across phases, and the resources are also repeating the work across the phases. This plan has up to 6 levels of tasks in various places.
So now, my resources see dozens of the same task name in their timesheet views with no context as to where each task falls in the plan.  The Task Hierarchy column is NOT a sufficient solution for my needs.
I would appreciate any and all help in figuring out how to display Summary Tasks and Task IDs in the Timesheet View.
    Thanks and happy planning!

  • Excel 2010 cannot complete this task... Error in a shared spreeadsheet

    The layout
A server in an office connects 5 computers running windows 7 and using MS office plus 2010(32bit) and 1 computer running XP using MS office plus 2007(32bit), they are all 64bit OS's besides xp. They share many spreadsheets that are opened, edited and updated
simultaneously off the server. Since the spreadsheets need to be referred to each other, 2 up to 5 excel files must be opened on the computer I'm working on.
I'm working with a computer that has the following error during reading and writing to spreadsheets.
"Excel cannot complete this task with available resources choose less data or close Other applications"
This error occurs simply because excel has used up all the resources. However I'd like to avoid the simple "close redundant spreadsheets" because sooner or later they will need to be used.
The problem is that its only one computer that is having this problem all other computers don't get this error despite having equal amount of spreadsheets opened as the problematic computer. We've upgraded the ram and graphics card on that computer yet problem
persists. I'm aware of the 2gb ram access restriction office 32bit has.
The only solution I can think of would be to install a 64 it version of office on this computer set the default program that opens the file to the 64bit excel version (only for the problematic computer). Will cause errors? Seeing as other computers run 32bit
    office?
Does anyone know of any other ways of doing this? When the error occurs the file is locked and all data that is entered into the file after that is lost. Thanks in advanced

    Hi,
Do these five pcs have the same hardware?
As far as I know, the above memory error messages can be very generic and don't always identify the real cause of the issue. Please follow the KBs below, try the methods and check if they are helpful.
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2779852
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2655178
Then, I agree with you, we can update the Excel to 64bit version. Because the max RAM usage of the Excel 2010 32bit version is 2 GB. Even if we add more physical memory, 32bit version won’t be able to use it.  I recommend you use Excel 64bit
version to open/edit the large workbook instead. The 64-bit version of Excel 2010 is not constrained to 2 GB of RAM usage like 32-bit applications does.
    Hope it's helpful.

  • Excel cannot complete this task with available resources

    Hello all,
I am having a puzzling problem with some Excel 2010 users.
One person in Finance is having problems with excel in general, the others are having problems with a specific spreadsheet.
The specific spreadsheet is very large, 250mb, and contains a lot of data. They're trying to update a specific pivot table within this sheet but every time they try to refresh the data they get the message "Excel cannot complete this task with available
resources". I have also replicated the problem on my PC.
All PC's have 4GB of RAM available. I closed all programs, opened the sheet again, refreshed the pivot table and still received the same error.
Now, one person in the department was able to open the sheet, refresh the pivot table and save it with no problems. They have the same spec machine as the others in the Finance department.
All users have rebooted their machines, I've checked the server where the saved files sit to make sure there are no problems, I've asked them to check all data sources within the spreadsheet, watched RAM usage during the operation and while it is high, it
doesn't max out. Before finding out that one person can open it, I thought it could be that the file had become corrupted in some way.
It's very puzzling as I cannot see any logical reason why four people cannot use this sheet but one can. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

  • Project Lite user cannot see tasks assigned ...

    Hi
I have assigned tasks to a user Project 2013 and linked the project to Project Online.
As the administrator, I see all my tasks in the Timesheet view in PWA but the users that use Project Lite canot view their tasks and cannot see them in their Timesheet.
I am quessing it is a permissions issue but cannot find where to set the right permissions.
    Any solutions out there?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
Have you correctly published the assignment of the user from the project (either PWA or MS Project Pro)?
Is the user looking at the right period?
    Is the publish job successful?
Is the booking type committed and not proposed?
Is the resource the assignment owner of the assignment?
Have you assigned an enterprise resource and not a local resource? When you go to the resource center, select the resource, can you see the assignment?
    Hope this helps,

  • Excel not even open - "cannot complete this task with available resources" and then VBA run-time error randomly appear!

Has anyone else seen the "Excel cannot complete this task with available resources" error message appear when Excel isn't even open? It keeps happening to me, and it's the strangest thing.
It seems like interacting with Excel files sometimes prompts it - for example, I just turned on my computer this morning, checked my email, and then opened Google Chrome to upload some Excel files. Excel hasn't been opened at any point since the machine
booted up, but this Excel error popped up while I was uploading the files.
Checked the Task Manager because I was baffled (not that this is the first time it's happened), and there's no Excel application running, just that silly error message. Choose OK on that error and a VBA run-time error message appears (not even sure if it's
    Excel VBA or Word/Outlook but I assume it's Excel - it's the good old 1004, application-defined or object-defined error).
Debug is greyed out, so it won't let me debug to see what the problem is. Choosing End brings the "Excel cannot complete this task with available resources" message back for one final performance.
This happens on a not-infrequent basis: Excel isn't open, and I randomly get this set of Excel errors: 1) "cannot complete task", 2) VBA run-time, 3) "cannot complete task" again. Then it's done, until the next time it happens. Weird.
I have 32-bit Windows 7 and Excel 2013/2010/2007/2003/2002 (I know!) but the issue only started after installing 2013. I also get the "cannot complete this task" message regularly when working in Excel (generally with Power Pivot or something legitimately
memory-hungry though), and restarting the application does the trick. I don't mind a heads-up when I'm gobbling up too many resources, but when Excel's not even open, it's a bit ridiculous. It's like I have a zombie Excel! Does interacting with Excel files
via upload/moving around Windows Explorer actually trigger some sort of Excel action in the background?
Any ideas would be most appreciated!! Thank you :)

    Hi,
As the memory error messages , it can be very generic and don't always identify the real cause of the issue. We may try to use the KB that Mr. KR mentioned above to troubleshoot it.
On the other hand, if the file is xls format, we may convert to the new file format .XLSM and test.
    http://www.experts-exchange.com/Software/Office_Productivity/Office_Suites/MS_Office/Excel/Q_28339883.html
Next, try to disable hardware graphics acceleration from File > Options > Advanced > Display section and disable Aero Themes (if you enabled) to check the results.
For the hangs and crashes issues, we may use ADPlus.vbs to troubleshoot:

  • A resource assignment for new task during another task MS Project 2010

I would like to assing a new task during another task.
Resource A is assigned Task X from May 12th - May 16th. 5 hours per day.
I would like to assing new Task Y for May 14th. It will take 7 hours. So I would like to set up in MS Project 2010 as:
    May 12th Task X: 5 hours
    May 13th Task X:7 hours
    May 14th Task Y:7 hours
    May 15th Task X:8 hours
    May 16th Task X:5 hours
I set up Task X for Resource A as from May 12th - May 16th working hours as 25 hours in gant chart.
Then I set up Task Y for Resource A as May 14th working hours as 7 hours in gant chart.
I see Resource is as follows.
    May 12th Task X: 5 hours
    May 13th Task X:5 hours
    May 14th Task X:5 hours Task Y:7 hours  -> Total 12 hours
    May 15th Task X:5 hours
    May 16th Task X:5 hours
Please let me know how I set up what I would like.

    2 X options:
    1) You may be tracking too granularly.  A task should create something and then hand off to another task.  in this case, you may as well just combine them into a single task for about a week or so.  Most companies don't track hours per day
that granularly as well.  I'd look to schedule by the week.
    2) Split the tasks into multiple tasks and establish dependencies between them.  Assign the resource to each task at different amounts of work.

  • Excel cannot complete this task with available resources. Choose less data or close other applications

    Hello:
I'm using Excel 2010 and when I try to open several workbooks a message "Excel cannot complete this task with available resources. Choose less data or close other applications" appears.  This happens when I open email attachments from MS Outlook
    and files on my C-Drive.
    Thank you for your help

    Hi NFL1,
Could you tell me which version of office are you using, 32bit or 64bit? You said this issue always happened when open attachments from outlook and files in C-Driver.
For opening attachments from outlook, it might there is a conflict between the preview pane and Excel. You can try to hide the preview pane as a workaround to solve this issue. Please refer to this link:
    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2526883
It is often the case, if your file is large or contains a large amount of features, it is possible you are running low on available memory resources. If you work with extremely large data sets, the 64-bit version of Office may perform better for you. 32-bit
office you run are limited to making use of only 2GB of RAM. And this is one of the reasons occur the issue, you can via these links to get more information about this issue and detailed methods to solve this problem.
