Response times high after OS upgrade

Hi all,
We have SAP 4.6B with Kernel 46D_EXT , informix 10.00.FC6 . We have recently upgraded the OS on one of our application servers to SunOS 5.10. After the OS upgrade the response time on this application server is very high and it freezes when the load is very high whereas all the other application servers are working just fine. How do we go about in resolving this issue?
Thank You,
Salman Qayyum

Hi,
The OS upgrade was done by the network team and I am not sure what you are asking about. Anyway there is a file under /etc named project. However I am still not sure as to where to look for this particular problem wherein the response time of this server alone is too high. On the other hand other application servers were also upgraded and they work absolutely fine without any issues.
Thank you,
Salman Qayyum

  • Cant Recover from Time Machine after Yosemite upgrade

I have a 27" iMac (w SSD Drive) and after the initial Yosemite upgrade i had to uninstall because it hung trying to boot.  After some help from Apple I lost all of the data and apps on my hard drive (thanks???).  The restore utility (restart option r) restored me back to Mountain Lion.   I wasn't concerned as I have a time machine. I tried to restore from Time Machine using command-r and it is said I don't have enough space?  I retried the Yosemite upgrade which seems to be working fine (a couple of reboots and has been ok (cautiously optimistic.  I Entered Time Machine and clicked on the last valid backup in the timeline (the time line shows many) and nothing? It should have scrolled backwards but it didn't (the bar highlighted red when I hovered over).  I tried to use the little arrow to move back and it doesn't do anything? All I can do is cancel?  Am I doing this wrong? Any suggestions?

Yosemite has to index the backup.. over wireless this takes days.. no kidding.. even over ethernet it takes a very long time.
Is the TM backup on a Time Capsule or on external drive??
How long are you waiting?? Please don't expect instant indexing even on fast external drive... and on wireless connection to a TC.. forever could be close to the time period.
If you had have asked before you started down this route.. I would have strongly recommended you take a bootable clone from the disk before you attempted anything.. Carbon Copy Cloner creates a reliable and easily tested backup since you simply boot from it.
Time Machine is now so hard to use, so unreliable when you change OS version.. it is seriously time to stop using Time Machine.. or at least supplement it with something more reliable.

  • How to restore from time machine after HDD upgrade on macbook pro?

    Hi,
I have recently bought a WD 2.5 inch SATA 750GB 7200RPM 16GB HDD and plan to use it on my macbook pro 13 inch 2.4ghz early 2011. I will leave the pysical installation part to Apple Service. I have my Time Machine backup on an external hard disk. So, once I get the upgraded macbook, what are the steps I should follow for a complete Time Machine restore? (Including the formatting on the new HDD).
One more question; when I transfer my applications to the new HDD will Time Machine "remember" their activation codes and license information ?
    Thanks a lot.

    http://web.me.com/pondini/Time_Machine/14.html
This has all the instructions for a complete restore, including how to format the disk. Pondini's site probably has anything else you want to know too.
    Good luck!

  • Can't restore from time machine after SSD upgrade

    Macbook Pro 13" mid-2009, 10.7.5 Lion
I just swapped out my 160GB  HDD with a 250GB SSD on my MBP. When I booted up, I pressed Command-R to try to get into recovery mode but all it does was showing a gray folder with a question mark on it.
I had previously backed up my HDD with time machine. My original HDD is no longer available because I tried to upgrade to Mavericks (since the command-R was not working) and upon restarting my MBP was locked with system pin code (that is another nightmare all by itself)
What are my options besides getting a 10.7 Lion CD from the apple store and try to boot it up that way? and then restore from time machine?
Any other way I can get into receovery mode?
Thanks (My MBP is now a brick sitting on my desk)

It's a bare drive so it isn't formatted and it doesn't yet have a Recovery HD installed on it.
Your computer originally came with a version of Leopard installed. You can reinstall it if you still have the original discs that came with the computer. Or, if you have a retail Snow Leopard DVD you can reinstall Snow Leopard from which you can then upgrade to Mavericks (Lion is no longer available for re-download.) It's unlikely your local Apple Store has a Lion USB flash drive or DVD although you can certainly make an appointment and ask for their help.
You should see if you can boot from the Recovery HD invisible image in your Time Machine backup drive. Connect it to the computer and use OPTION boot to get the boot manager. If you see a Recovery HD on your backup drive displayed, then boot from it.

  • Average Response time high.

    Hi All,
We are facing a strange problem.
Our system is performing low just because of the share of high Roll Wait Time.
Can anyone tell why it is so high ? and how to reduce it's time.
<b>Now it's taking more than 60% of Total Avg. Resp. Time.</b>
    Thanks & Regards,
    Santosh Rajput

    Hi,
Normally High Roll Wait time gives the communication problem with GUI or external system.
Execute the STAT or STAD for the particular period of time ( during High roll wait time period) and double click on any single record and find any dilog step with Snchornus RFC.
RFCCPIC time will calcuate the time for execution of RFCs plus setting up the connection. If you found the RFCCPIC time > Roll wait time , It gives the problem during the communication between the systems.
You have to check whether any slow network connectivities or might be no work process will available in the receving system.
Might be this will help you.

  • Quick time missing after Lion upgrade

I bought Lion and now when I open my online class, normally two videos appear, one with my professor and audio, and another that shows our lecture notes. The video that is supposed to allow us to see and hear the professor is not there. In its place it says "Missing plugin" and directs me to the information on apple.com about quicktime. Before I purchased Lion, there was no issue. I have no extensions on safari, what can i do!?

  • Will the problems I am having with slow Safari response times continue if I port the image of my 4 to an new iphone 5?

As in many families, I am ready to upgrade my iphone 4 to a 5 and pass on my 4 to my partner (who has my old 3), BUT I am resistant to do so because I have been having problems with Safari, (very slow response time) ever since I upgraded to the new OS a month or so back. I have completed all the cleaning tips (cookies, individual app shut downs) and hard boot steps with no change. I can sit my partners Iphone 3 next to my 4 and when using Safari it beats it hands down, almost doubling the time it takes on the 3. My 4 is quicker on all the other apps so I don't believe it is a hardware issue. My tests were done using our home wi fi set up the same on both phones after running all the cleaning tips on both.
I actually broke down and called the support line and the first level support told me if I upgraded to the 5 I would likely carry the problem to the new phone. She said she suspected malware or a virus and that for $300 she could forward me to second level support that could scan my phone and see what the problem is on my 4 and support any issues on a new iphone 5 OR for a one time lower fee $79, just help me fix my 4.
Thinking through her options, I chose none of the above. Seems like I should be able to either 1) isolate the issue myself with the help of this forum or 2) upgrade to the iphone 5 and if the problem follows to the new one, get the support via the new device warranty. If the support person is correct and the problem is in the software and would follow the device, then in theroy I could wipe and restore my old 4 with the back up/data of my partners 3 and the problem on the 4 should be resolved.
I really don't want to carry the problem to a new phone if I can fix the issue first. I have airwatch software to push my work email to my phone and that is usually a pain to do when I upgrade anyhow. I don't need to pay for a new phone that has the same problem as my old one. I will get grief from my partner for passing on an issue that will come up with the daily use of the old iphone 4 that I will be responsible to fix anyhow. I have invested too much time already to generate problems on both our phones. Thanks in advance for any tips or guideance about a streamlined way forward.

Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new).  Has any of this been tried?
FYI, there are no viruses that affect iOS unless the device has been hacked or jailbroken, in which case they cannot be discussed here.

  • Time Machine backing up high amount of GB's after I upgraded to Mountain Lion. Is there a way to correct this?

After upgrading my IMac to Mountain Lion, Time Machine keeps backing up large amounts of data (50 to 60 GB at at time}. I have not imputed that kind of data into the Mac since I have lttle use for it for the moment. My back up disc is a Time Capsule. Help!

OK, I will hold for a couple of days see what happens. First back up after the upgrade was 10 gb. the second one is in progress and is backink up 59.8 gb.
No data inputs have occured since the last back up before the upgrade and usually I only do small tasks such as family photos, email and ocassionaly on line shopping such as a few songs from ITunes.
    Thanks I'll keep you informed.

  • Higher response time after adding more CPU

    Hello all,
have you ever experienced that after incresing SAPs (adding 2 more CPU + 4 GB of memory) on the VMware ESX 3.5 the DB response time went from 150 to 400-500 ms ? NO DB parameter were changed. In app server, only extended memory and program buffer were enlarged.
We are running ECC6 system on MAXDB 7.6.6.3 (SLES9). MAXCPU is set to 1
    Any idea ?
    Thank you.

I'd always set MAXCPU to the number of physical CPUs/cores you have. It's VERY unlikely that the database will use more CPU than the application.
The database can't scale, if one CPU is used other requests have to wait.

  • Webgui and high response time

    Hi guys,
we have upgraded our worktation to windows 7 with IE9. Our users complains high response time after migration.
We have tested the webgui with Win 7 and IE8 and the response time is accetable, but we can't downgrade the IE version.
We have tried to setup the compatibility with IE8 , but the issue persist.
Do you have any suggestion about resolve the issue ?
thank's in advance fro your help.

What is your SAP MII version?
While loading webpage, is it showing contentiously loading and not opening content, then its 100% java issue only.
Goto IE9-->Tools-->internet options --> Advanced --> Browsing check(Disable script debugging). Once you down this, on status bar its shows the error like 'undefined object'.
To correct it, you need to upgrade or degrade java version accordingly.
Mine is Window 7 and using Java version 1.7.0_13-b20. its working fine.

  • After lion upgrade time capsule no longer backs up

Time capsule no longer will back up after lion upgrade is anyone else having this problem?

The Time Machine application is part of the Lion operating system, so you will likely get a faster and more informed response if you post in the Lion support area for Time Machine. There are a number of posts there with issues similar to yours.
    Mac OS X v10.7 Lion
Click on the Refine This List button under the Lion and then click on Time Machine to get to the support area.

I install latest update from my ipad 2, after the upgrade tablet running slowly. Probably the system requirements too high for my device. I think that users with older models should be able to install IOS 6.x.x on their devices or consider buying devices from other manufacturers ...
People are dissatisfied with the new update a lot, including some of my friends and acquaintances. Is it reasonable to wait until Apple implements the possibility to return to Ios Ios 6 to 7? And how soon it can be done?
Sorry for my english, i am from Russia.

I have a similar issue. I recently purchased an iPad Mini, and I started off by backing it up from the apps I had on my iPhone. Now, I have a number of apps that never downloaded and that I don't want on the iPad. Some of these are apps that I don't need, while others are the iPhone versions of apps. There are something like 23 apps that I have no use for, but iTunes tries to install every time I connect. I've also tried clicking the 'Will Install' buttons. There's no way to delete these apps from the iPad without first installing them, as far as I can see, and there's no way to NOT install them, in iTunes.
It''s not just annoying, it's causing problems with installation of larger files and movies. Now, every time I sync to the computer, I get a warning that I'm over capacity by 580 MB, and larger apps will not install! Clicking Revert and a bunch of other things doesn't work, either. And I can't just delete some of the apps, because I or my wife use them on our phones!

  • J2sdk1.4 takes higher response time in database interaction than jdk1.3

    Hi All
I am working on performance issues regarding response time . i have upgraded my system from jdk1.3 to j2sdk1.4 . I was expecting the performance gain in terms of response time in j2sdk1.4. but to my surprise it shows varied results with my application. it shows that j2sdk1.4 is taking higher time for executing the application when it has to deal with database. I am using oracle 9i as the backend database server.
if any body has the idea about, why j2sdk1.4 is showing higher responce time while interacting with database as compare to jdk1.3. then do let me know this.
    Thanx in advance

  • High Avg Response time for logon requests via CMS

    Hi Team ,
We are continuously receiving observing high Average reponse time for logon requests to the BO system  via  Central Management Server.
We observe response time up to 25043 ms .
Currently we are on SAP BO 4.0  SP7 patch 9  (4.0.7.9)
    DB = SQL server 2008 R2
App Server = SAP NW 7.31 SP 7.
Also the size of our CMS DB is around 15 GB .
What could be  the possible reasons ?
    Regards ,
    Abhinav

    Hi Abhinav,
As one of the issues has been raised as a bug which is resolved in BI 4.1 so you can upgrade to resolve this bug. Also if the CMS database size is large then CMS has to search for objects through huge number of rows hence that will affect overall performance. So you can try to reduce this size as per my previous upate.
Apart this you can try following steps
Try to ping CMS DB server from BO servers and confirm the response is coming in 1 ms. Run tracert <DB servers name> from CMD and check the number of hops. If response time is not 1 ms or there are more number of hops then ask your network team to resolve network latency issue
You can increase the "System database connections"  for each CMS from server properties. It is set to 14 by default which means the CMS will establish 14 connections to CMS database at any time. You can increase this value, however please make sure that the system database allows more connections than default 14 from DB side. This needs to be confirmed from your DBA.
Please add CMS cluster members in platformservices.properties file under Tomcat folder. Please refer following SAP KBA for steps to add the cluster members
           http://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/1668515
           http://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/1766935
       4. Also please confirm number of users simultaneously login to system at peak time. Usually one           CMS is capable of handling around 500 requests. So if you have more then 1000 users then add           another new CMS on same nodes if there is enough free memory on the server
