Restart computer when program not running

Hello,
I am using Labview 2011 and 2014.
I have set windows to launch my program when the computer is turned on. The VI is set so that the program runs when launched. Things have been working fine for several ON/OFF sequences of the computer. But last time when getting back to the screen I realised that the program was not running (just like if it was waiting for the user to press the white arrow). I pressed the white arrow and the program worked fine. I started up the computer and everything worked too. this program is suppose to run quite far away from work where I don't have access to the computer (not able to check if things are ok..)
My question is : how could I make the computer make a Stop and Start sequence if my program stops or isn't running?

Crossrultz, your solution works fine on my cpumtor where I have Seven and Labview 2014 installed. I tried it on the computer that I posted this question for and the problem is tkat windows asks me to confirm (my clicking on "ok") the closing of the windows tha are open. DO you know how I could avoid that? (the computer just shuts off on tis own wuithout antybody to confirm by clicking)

Maybe you can try the shutdown command with the /f option added to Crossrulz solution, resulting in:

Using JFXPanel with a WebView under JavaFX 2.1 and Java 1.6.0_29. Application works fine most of the time.
I believe the problem is that we have to move application panels around inside our application and I believe this is sometimes causing the JavaFX platform to believe it is shutting down when it shouldn't.

I get a similar problem with a JFXPanel+WebView inside a ToolWindow of the MyDoggy docking framework (cf http://mydoggy.sourceforge.net/docs/mydoggyset.html)
Hiding/showing the ToolWindow eventually leads to this exception:

Turn off alarms when Ical not running! Bring it back

It seems that the option to turn off alarms when Ical not running has been removed. The only option now is to simply turn alarms off (then you forget to turn it back on!). i am a professional speaker and when an alarm rings when I'm using Keynote it knocks keynote off the screen. That is a real pain when you are speaking to 1000 people! Anyone got any ideas. And Apple, please bring it back.

I sure hope the developers at Apple as well as the management team who can make product impacting decisions are reading this thread - do they realize that this makes the *alarm function unusable by professionals* who do presentations? I was in front of a small group doing a powerpoint tonight and the alarm went off in the middle of it - not a good thing.
So, I will choose to turn them off completely at this point - it is the only option. And I am not going to manually turn them on and off - that's a ridiculous prospect.
I can only guess at the reason for removing the earlier functionality of turning off the alarms when the application was closed, but this is absolutely a requirement if alarms are to be functional at all for those of us who do presentations.

06 28 update program not running

I downloaded and installed the latest update to my pc. I installed it and rebooted like requested. I tried running the update by 1. plugging in my ipod and it telling me there is an update to click button to run the update program
2. tried running it from my start menu
3. went to the physical directory of the exe file and dowble clicked it. nothing made the update program come up. it just simply does not run when you click it or use any of the methods said before.
Anyone else have this problem or know how to fix it?

I did everything you mentioned including updating itunes and it just doesn't run, no matter how many times I click the icon the program does not start
I ran it yesterday with no problem (windows xp SP2).
things that you can try are:
Reset your ipod before conecting it to your
computer.
Start the update program before updating your ipod
did you also upgrade itunes?
Try those things and let us know how it goes.

How can I access my iCloud account from my computer, when I'm running OSX Leopard?

I have a Mac Book running Leopard and I don't have the iCloud icon in my settings.. How can I access my iCloud account/back up my computer to the cloud?

Your signature says you have 10.6.8 which is Snow Leopard, but that is still not compatible with iCloud. You cannot back up your computer to iCloud in any case - it doesn't provide for that, only for iOS backups.
The minimum requirement for iCloud is Lion 10.7.5 (Mountain Lion preferred): the iCloud Preference Pane does not appear on earlier systems - the MobileMe pane appears on Lion and earlier but is non non-functional - you cannot now open or access a MobileMe account.
If you have already set up an iCloud account on another Mac or device you can make limited use of it with Snow Leopard - details here.
To make full use of iCloud you will have to upgrade your Mac to Lion or Mountain Lion, provided it meets the requirements.
The requirements for Lion are:
Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7, or Xeon processor
2GB of memory
OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
7GB of available space
To purchase it you will have to ring Apple at the number given at the bottom left of this page.

LabVIEW Program not running if i lock my PC (using an EXE made from LabVIEW)

Hi everyone
I observed some odd behavior when I was running my program on a PC. I prepared an EXE for a LabVIEW program, this am running on another PC. Purpose of the program is to read a text file and follow the command given in that text document, we are accessing parallel port, calling third party EXEs in this. It is not running when I minimize the window or lock the PC. Do we have any property in VI properties for this?

Hi Anil,
Minimizing the application or locking Windows should not stop the executable from running. Can you reproduce this behavior on the development PC? Also try to create an executable with a simple VI that counts the number of iteration and check for this behavior ?

C program not running from terminal as expected

Hi everyone
I am starting C programming as part of my university degree, I understand most of the content so far. I am compiling and running my program in Terminal and I am having a small amount of trouble with running it. Here is how I have set my program up:
• Created folder named "C" on the desktop
• Opened terminal and changed the directory by using the following command: cd /Users/jc/Desktop/C, the directory is changed as the terminal output reads:
JCs-MacBook-Pro:C jc$
• Created main.c file
• Compiled fine in terminal by using: cc main.c
Here is where it breaks down, typing a.out does not run the program (as I expected) but returns the error: "-bash: a.out: command not found", if I drag the file to terminal or type out the absolute path and execute the program runs fine. What is happening and how do I fix it so typing just a.out runs the program?

The commands to add a folder to your search path (if you haven't changed your shell from the default bash) are:
PATH=$PATH:<absolute path to parent folder>/MyProjectFolder
export PATH
Typing the above at your terminal prompt should allow you to execute your programs without typing ./a.out, but only for the life of the current terminal session (You can type 'printenv' or 'echo $PATH' to verify that your folder was added correctly).
If you wish to add your folder automatically to any terminal session, the above should be saved in a text file named '.profile' in your home folder (the folder you're in when you start Terminal, e.g. /users/raynewbie).
If you wish to add whatever folder is current (wherever I am right now) to your permanent search path, insert the following into .profile:
PATH=$PATH:.
export PATH
The above has the disadvantage of being less secure on multiuser systems. The current, "dot", directory used to be first in the default Unix search path. But when I was in school (during the Lincoln administration) our favorite sport was trying to hack root perms by placing our own version of 'ls' in directories frequented by superusers. Higher powers caught on to this after only a few years and newer systems required you to type the dot.

Movies disappearing from AppleTV when iTunes not running

I have synced my iTunes content to my AppleTV several times and have found that I continue to experience jerky playback of movies (AppleTV will pause to buffer data) and that the movies totally disappear from my AppleTV menu when I shut down iTunes. I believe that the movies files have been copied to AppleTV (ie I am not streaming the files). When I restart iTunes, it appears to need to re-sync only the movies with my AppleTV (music, Podcasts, and photos remain available on AppleTV while iTunes is not running). Please advise 1. why the poor flow when movie is playing on AppleTV and 2. why does it seem to need to keep re-syncing movies to the AppleTV?

iTunes should not have to re-sync your purchased movies if they transferred over correctly,
You might want to try restarting the Apple TV, or restoring it. Information on how to perform this is in knowledge base article 305190 (http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=305190).

Graphical programs not running--need help

Using win98 platform, textpad, and jdk1.5.0...
DOS programs run fine, however, graphical applications do not run--it goes to the DOS window and brings up strings of stuff instead.
When I compile, the error message that generally shows:
Note: C:\jdk1.5.0\demo\...java uses or overrides a depreciated API
Note: Recompile with -Xlint: depreciation for details.
And for applets, this line also existed on a demo:
Note: C:\jdk1.5.0\demo\applets\Animator\Animator.java uses unchecked or unsafe operations.

Anybody know what to do here? I'm just learning java from books, but I need to be able to run java applications in order to get a feel for the code. Help would be appreciated.

Message "you need to restart computer" when shutdown Mac OS X or WIN7

On my book Pro with Mac OS X 0.7.2 i creted a new Bootcamp Partition and i installed WIN7 Ultimate. When installation was completed i installed Bootcamp driver. Now i'm able to login with OS x or with Win7 and both system seems to work properly.
When i shutdown Win7 or OSX a gray window is displayed with this message "YOU NEED TO RESTART COMPUTER. HOLD DOWN YHE POWER BUTTON UNTIL IT TURNS OFF, THEN PRESS THE POWER BUTTON AGAIN."; this message is displayed in 5 different langueges; under the message is displayed a black icon with the force shutdown / restart button of the mac book pro.
I follow the required procedure: if i choose to restart with OS X an alert essage is dispayed : "COMPUTER WAS RESTARTED DUE TO A PROBLEM"; dialog suggest to send notification to Apple; this message is displayed in my original language: Italian.
Some one can help me please?

That is hardware and driver issue and to resolve you are probably going to have to find what was installed and uninstall, and disconnect the device.
AppleHFS.sys can have trouble mounting drives.
To write to Windows, NTFS driver (Paragon-Software)
To stop using AppleHFS, again, replace with a Windows HFS driver
- if that is the cause
Apple does not support mounting RAID while in Windows.
Reinstall won't help. And you can't avoid forever.
Also boot from Windows 7 DVD and repair - go back to prior restore point.

Email Movement When Thunderbird not Running

I am trying to use Thunderbird to move emails between two accounts (a gmail and a .edu). I have hosted both the accounts in the Thunderbird "client" and the emails of both are loaded when I open Thunderbird and login to the accounts. Thunderbird is able to copy emails from one of my email accounts and create the emails in another, which is my goal. I can then see the emails from the .edu in the gmail inbox since they have been copied. However, when Thunderbird is not running or the computer on which I have it installed is logged off/shut down, the emails stop being copied to the other email account. How can I make it so that Thunderbird will always process my rule of copying emails from the .edu to the gmail even when it is not open on any computer? Is this possible?

Figured out the best workaround. My main issue was that on my mobile device, the default mail client wasn't able to load the .edu email without forcing me to create a password for my phone lock screen. Didn't want to do that, so this meant that I could view ''Gmail only'' on my phone in the Email app. There was no way to view both inboxes as combined at once, so I wanted to find a way to get my .edu emails into Gmail continuously. I switched to the Gmail App and found that I could import the .edu account via IMAP to the app (which is more like a client than webmail) and still have the Gmail account (even though they still remain separate, you can view a combined inbox). '''I don't get why IMAP importing is enabled on the GMail app, but not the desktop webmail. And why there is no way to create filters in the GMail App like there is on both the Gmail Desktop version and Thunderbird.'''
Anyway, the world is pleading for developers to release an Android app that allows movement of emails between accounts, as none currently exist. If anyone knows of desktop webmails like Gmail that allow IMAP import, I'd like to know those also! NOTE: my .edu email had POP disabled completely.
So bottom line for all you people like me with this problem. ''Seems like the best solution currently is to use a '''client''' or '''Webmail with IMAP import''' (which I don't know any) on your desktop, and use any of the good clients for your mobile device (K-9, TypeMail, Gmail App, etc) to view all your email accounts in 1 place on both phone and PC...''
And keep dreaming of the day there's an android app that allows moving emails between accounts (already available on iOS).

TestClient is the name of main class file.

i browsed apache manual......To Run a Java program.....first, they are making a JAR file ...and then they are executing the JAR.
i really, dont need the JAR file......i just want to run it.....thats enough.

Need certain LED's to turn on when program is run

Guys,
Attached is an instrument .vi that I have been working on. I was wondering if someone could open it and make the following changes. I need the following things to turn on when the program is run:
2nd LED of the "Wheel" Button
3rd LED of the "SYNC" Button
2nd LED of the "MODE" Button
1st LET of the "MEASURE" Button
If someone could help me with this I'd really appreciate it....

Why don't you just manually click them on in edit mode, then make the current values default and save the VI?

Programs not running in leopard

my adobe creative suite and office:mac v.X are not running after installation of leopard, which i bought to use with my 16gb iphone. suggestions?

Java Preferences can be found using Spotlight.
Update your Java 6 as previously instructed as it's supplies security fixes.
Java 7 and above is for 10.7 and above, Oracle is dropping support for Java 6.
However all versions of Java have been HIGHLY insecure, so it's advised not to use them at all
If your using Java based programs (like the free LibreOffice) then certainly disable Java in all web browsers and applets in Java Preferences.
Apple has a now annual OS X upgrade cycle that is causing havoc and disqualifying older, but perfectly working machines from running necessary software and dragging third party developers along.
So one shouldn't be running Safari (outdated and no Safari 6), Java 6, very possibly Chrome on OS x 10.6.8, but if you upgrade to 10.7 or above, your machine will perform slower and all your PPC based software will no longer continue to function.
It's sad, because OS X Snow Leopard has 1/4 OS X market share still and many can't upgrade because developers are not issuing 10.7/10.8 versions of their software because of AppStore and Gatekeeper signaling the closing of the operating system in the future.
The 10 year support cycle of Windows versions sounds like blessed relief compared to Apple's annual OS X upgrade nightmare.

Gpo computer startup scripts not running

Hi,
I´m making some test with a windows 7 pro 64 bit computer and a 2008 r2 domain controller where I have created a computer startup script. I give you more info:
Domain functional level: 2008 R2
DC: 2008 R2
Client: Windows 7 pro x64
Gpo: Computer configuration -> Windows configuration -> Script -> Startup
Type of script: bat file copied on \\domain_name\SysVol\domain_name\Policies\{461E688A-E8F8-4C9B-8419-FE83DCDD4C26}\Machine\Scripts\Startup
The windows 7 machine is full updated, windows firewall disabled, uac disabled, windows defender disabled.
The bat file works and the gpo is applying, i have seen it via gpresult, another gpo which is in a top level works fine.
I need some help please, because I don´t know what to try.

Do you mean that you add the bat file in the startup group policy and gpresult shows that it is applied, but the bat is not run?
Please share us the bat file to test.
Logon/Logoff scripts could only be applied to users, whereas Start-up/Shutdown scripts applies to computers.
I create a test.bat start %windir%\system32\notepad.exe, and add it to the User Configuration->Policies->windows Settings->Scripts->Logon in the Default domain policy. And it works.
If I create in the startup policy in Computer configuration, I can see it in the gpresult, but it doesn’t work.
Please test if the bat works in the Logon policy.
