Restart via Console

Hi,
does anyone know if it will be possible to restart WL60 from the web
console tool? I recognized that for lot's of configuration settings to
take affect a restart is necessary. With restart via web the
administration through a firewall without ssh, pcanywhere or vpn would
be much more conveniant.

Is this consideration a technical matter or a question of best practices
for administration processes?
DanielIts just a matter of time/resources/priorities relative to other
features/functionality being delivered.

Daniel,
Starting servers via the admin console is not supported in WLS 6.0
It is being considered for a future release.

  • Can not administer Catalyst 2960 switch via console

    Hello,
I want to configure my switch via console cable, the switch boots up normally, and there are no configurations present on the switch.  However, anything I type does not appear on the terminal client.  I used several terminal clients (TeraTerm, PuTTY, HyperTerminal), all latest versions as well as different PCs.  I even forced the switch to rommon mode, still, anything I type does not appear on the terminal client.
    Here's the output of TeraTerm:

  • Server 2012 not accepting inputs either via console or RDP

    Hello Experts,
I have a server 2012 standard running in a physical box with 3 virtual machines running in hyper-v session. For sometime now, i have been running into strange issues where it does not accept input. I tried via RDP, console; neither method worked. It still
holds AD and file server role. It was all working good and driving me into issues for some time now.
It does not accept inputs via keyboard or mouse either from console or RDP. All resources such as file share, virtual machine are accessible from network. I can logon to server via console or RDP for 3 to 5 min right after server has been hard restarted
and again it stops accepting inputs.
Can someone help me out work around this issue as i am new to server 2012 and not sure what goes in error.
    Thanks.

  • What will happen if shutdown server via console

    Hi,
If shut down weblogic instance via Console, does the server wait for
existing transactions being finished? or exit anyway in the middle of
processing? Does the application get a signal etc.?
Is there other ways to monitor and shutdown server besides console?
    Thanks,
    William

    Hello
You may try the following in the below sequence -
    1) after receiver is restarted, in transaction SM50 and SM37 look for any hung job both in Control and receiver system, if anything is there cancel and delete the same. Also update DB statistics both in control and receiver system. Then restart data transfer activity in the TDMS package.
    2) If step 1 doesnt work then raise an OSS message so that SAP TDMS experts can guide you in an optimum way on whether to restart a new package or to solve the issue in current package.
Most probably you may not need to start a fresh package.

  • Telnet via console port

    Hi
Is it possible to telnet via console port to a server without any additional hardware? I understand that an ip needs to be configured but i am not sure how it is to be done.
    any help given is appreciated..
    thanks

Yes , you can but your server must see server that you want to access first
first you can ping to server that you want to access . if you can't see it ,that is impossible to access it .

  • BUG: Forced Restart Via Creative Cloud Desktop Application Installer

Hey guys, I was trying to install a few adobe products and have been encountering strange errors.
The following bug has been experienced when trying to install Adobe Application Manager, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Dreamweaver, and Adobe Illustrator.
Program will install to about 44% or so and then say "extracting". After extraction, it displays the %installation, increases about 4-10%, then forcefully restarts my computer.
According to my computer, no errors are present (looked in the events log)
Here are the following things I have tried to remedy this issue.
Running windows update for all general updates and going to intel to update graphics driver.
    1.  a. Removing all Adobe applications via control panel and using the Adobe CCleaner utility.
         b. Re-installing Creative Cloud w/ administrator privileges
         c. Attempting to reinstall application.
    2. Tries the above but in Safe mode.
    3. a. Looked at computer resources to make certain CPU wasn't somehow overheating.
        b. CPU temperature was not adversely affected nor did the utilization rate of any resources(CPU, GPU, Drive, Network) exceed 25%
        c. Viewed the event logs to determine if any errors were present. The even log displayed no errors had occurred during any of the forced restarts.
On a side note- I found that despite Skype being told not to start-up on boot, it is actually reducing my boot time by 6 seconds!
    4. Went into advanced settings and unchecked the box that allows windows to automatically restart on error.
I am at a loss as to why it is forcibly restarting my computer. Adobe products are the ONLY products that I have experienced any issues with during installation.
However, in order to remedy this issue here is some information regarding computer specs.

  • Unable to run JavaScript via Console in Acro Pro 8.2.2 - security issue?

I'm unable to run a JavaScript either from the Console or via AppleScript's do script.
At first I thought it was a keyboard issue as I'm using a MacBook Pro, but fn-Return for Enter works in Acrobat 7.1.0 Console.
Trying to run a JavaScript from AppleScript with do script returns 'Adobe Acrobat Professional got an error: can't continue do script'
    The various preferences are:
    JavaScript
    Enable Acrobat JavaScript yes
Enable menu items JavaScript execution privileges yes
Enable global object security policy no
Enable JavaScript Debugger after Acrobat is started yes
    Enable interactive console yes
Show console on errors and messages yes
    Security (Enhanced)
    Enable Enhanced security no
I think these settings should enable JavaScript to be run from the Console, but I'm getting the impression that the latest security fix is locking down JavaScript despite these settings.
I'm on a MacBook Pro running Mac OS X 10.5.8
Has anyone else seen anything like this? Looks like I'll be going back to 7.1.0 for a while.

  • Replace agent for push via console

    Hi!
I want to replace the agent which is beeing pushed via the console. I have SCOM 2012 without SP today. I want to push the R2 agent via the console, as I'm soon upgrading my SCOM, and therefore see it convenient to begin installing the R2-agent, as this works
    with my console.
I guess there is a msi-file within the SCOM-directory in my MS, but so far I haven't been able to find and replace the correct one. Manual install of the R2 agent works fine, and show up within the console with correct version number.
Any help appreciated and a Happy new year:)
    Best regards
    Rune Haugen

    Hi,
If an agent was installed using the push install method, after upgrade the server the agent will be put into a pending update state and can be upgraded through the Console.
Otherwise the agent should be upgraded manually.
For detailed information, you can refer to this library.

  • Is it possible to configure an SNMP copmmunity string on an ATA 186 without accessing it via console?

I am trying to configure a particular SNMP community string on many ATAs for a Cisco 'Know the Network' project. On a Cisco ATA 186, you cannot telnet or SSH to it and the only way to remotely change the parameters are via the web GUI, which doesn't have the SNMP field available.
Is this possible without getting physical console access to the ATA?

    No.
An ASA can, as you noted, restrict source and destination IP and port. To do what you are asking, one would need to prevent a string within the payload from being transmitted (or only accept certain strings).
You should just put the access-list on the destination device(s) restricting what host(s) are allowed snmp rw (as you alluded to). That's a very common implementation straight out of the textbook.

    Hi there,
After going through some topics and trying everything I could fine I am relaying on you all to help me further.
I have an Switch and have an AAA configured for login via ACS with AD account. All works fine via Telnet, but connected to the console, I always get to not enable prompt.
I have a local user name and password on the device itself. Which I can use to login through the telnet option, and it brings me straight into enable mode. But using this account with the console it brings me to priv level 1. When typing ENABLE I can specify the password that belongs to this local account but it is not excepted. Instead I get:

    Jorge
There are a couple of aspects of your situation which I am puzzled about. Your post talks about logging in and seems to indicate that you are logging in using a local account. But the config is quite clear that TACACS is the primary authentication method. Is the TACACS server running and is the router using TACACS?
If the TACACS server is running and is communicating with the router, I am guessing that the local user ID is also a user ID that is configured in TACACS. This would explain why authentication would work. Can you clarify this? And if this is the case I would guess that the user ID is not configured in TACACS to have enable mode access.
On the possibility that the router is not communicating with the TACACS server I would suggest that you try using the enable secret (or enable password - which ever you have configured) rather than the user password at the prompt for enable mode.
The other part of your question is more clear. Your question says that when you login through vty you go straight to enable mode but on the console you go to privilege level 1. This is intentional behavior on the router. Going straight into enable mode is a function of authorization (in addition to authentication). And by default Cisco does this for vty and does not do this for the console (the danger of locking yourself out of the router if something is misconfigured is significant). If you are confident of the configuration and want to go directly into enable mode on the console you can use this (hidden) command under line con 0:
    aaa authorization console

  • Catalyst switch hangs when connecting via console port

    Hi,
I've just started work for a company - they have no network documentation or knowledge of their current set-up whatsoever.
For the LAN in the office they have Cisco Catalyst WS-C3524-XL switches. But it doesn't seem like these are even configured with an IP address for management purposes.
So, I thought I would connect via a console cable to have a look at their configurations and also to investigate some performance problems some users were having on the LAN.
BUT - when I connected to the console cable, all the switch LEDs stopped flickering happily and went solid and everyone in the office lost their network connectivity! (I wasn't popular!)
Rebooting the switch with the console port still connected had no effect - the LEDs remained solid and there was no network connectivity. However, when I removed my console cable, everything started working again!
Does anyone have any ideas a) what can have caused this and b) how I can resolve this problem and connect to the switches without disrupting all the other users!
Note: I subsequently connected to a spare WS-C3524-XL switch using the same laptop and same console cable without any problems.

    Hi,
    thanks for the response.
no, I can't login to the switch(es) at all. There seems to be no response from hyperterminal at all. (Then I noticed that the LEDs had gone "solid" and that everyone started to complain they had lost network connection!)
Even when I powered off and powered on the switch with the console port still connected, nothing appeared on the hyperterminal screen.
However, as mentioned, I'm able to connect to one of our spare switches using the same settings, same laptop, and same console cable - so I guess that would rule these things out as being the cause?
Its definitely a strange one, especially as it seems to be affecting all 3 of the live switches!

  • Newly authorised users unable to view host info via console.

I've recently added a number of users to the /var/opt/SUNWsymon/cfg/esusers file on the SunMC server and
ensured that they have groups acess to esadm and esdomadm. Unfortunately, when they double click on a
server icon in the SunMC console, the window opens but remains blank. After 20 seconds or so, an error
messages appears in the lower left hand corner stating "Unable to load console info".
If I log on to the affected host and look in the /var/opt/SUNWsymon/cfg directory, I find two files containing
    my login ID..
    agent-usmaclgrps-d.dat
    agent-usmusertbl-d.dat
No entries exist for the affected users. Yet if I run '/opt/SUNWsymon/sbin/es-setup -F', the two config files are updated with details of TWO of the affected users. The other user may not be present due to the fact they have
yet to log on via the console and try to retrieve the relevant info.
I have about 40 known servers that require attention, the chances are there are a significant number that have yet
to be diagnosed with the same issue. Any advice on a quick fix would be greatly appreciated. The thought
of having to run es-setup on each server is not something I would particularly relish...
    Regards,
    Trev.

What does the packet-tracer say, what does the IPsec associations say (packets encrypted/decrypted)?

  • Configure LWAP for DCHP via console

I need to delete the static IP address and enable DHCP on some 3500 series LAPs that are not attached to our network.  Will running the following commands via a console session to the AP accomplish this?
    clear capwap ap ip address
    clear capwap ap ip default-gateway
    write memory
    reload
or do I just need to clear the private-config file and reboot?  I'd perfer not to do this.

Yes, If you just want to delete the static IP address (& leave the controller address learnt by AP as it is) then you can use the below two lines. You cannot do write mem as it is CAPWAP AP.
    clear capwap ap ip address
    clear capwap ap ip default-gateway
If you do the below, it won't remove statically configured IP, So it won't achieve what you want.
    "clear capwap private-config"
If you want to delete everything (even previously known controller IP from AP NVRAM) you can do this
    AP0026.0b63.caf4#debug capwap console cli
This command is meant only for debugging/troubleshooting
Any configuration change may result in different
    behavior from centralized configuration.
CAPWAP console CLI allow/disallow debugging is on

  • Service Template: Automatic Machine Rebooting and Script Restarting via Exit Code in Script Application

    Hello,
My question is on Script Applications in
    Service Templates:
In VM Templates, in the Application Configuration tab, one can add a Script Application. This can be a PowerShell script, a batch script, etc.
For each Script Application, it is possible (via the Advanced options) to make the
machine reboot when the script exits with one of three
    exit codes: 1641, 3010 and 3011.
    Problem:
For PowerShell or PS scripts, if I use ‘exit 3010’, the machine should reboot but it doesn’t…
    Bad workaround:
Use a batch script which calls the PS script. Then, exit out of the batch script using ‘exit $LASTEXITCODE’. This works. The machine reboots.
I can’t use the workaround. Is there a way to do this using just the PS script?
    -Rohan.

    In fact yes.
You actually want SCVMM to orchestrate the reboot by sending the proper exit code.  Otherwise SCVMM gets all weird about things.
It is in the advanced settings for the script and / or command.
You need to make sure that your script tosses the 3011 or 3010 on exit.
I do it with the 3011:
    # Exit 3011
    [Environment]::Exit(“3011”)
In the XML you will find this:
    <vmmst:RebootExitCodeRegex>{1641}|{3010}|{3011}</vmmst:RebootExitCodeRegex>
But you do not want to enable restarting the script on each reboot or you will find yourself in a loop.

  • Suddenly unable to login via console

I restarted my guest that's been running fine for a few days, and suddenly I am unable to login thru the java browser-based console thru the VM Manager.
Everything about the console looks fine: It shows me all the usual startup messages if I open it while the VM guest is booting, it prompts me for the login username and password but instantly returns to the "TestVMHost login:" prompt after entering the correct password. It does this for all three plain users and root that I have established in this VM guest.
I can SSH into the VM guest just fine with PuTTY over the network and login with any valid username/password, so I am not locked out of access to the VM guest. It's just the java-browser console app itself that suddenly stopped letting me login.
    Any ideas?
PS: the VM server is 2.2 and the guest is OEL 5.4 installed from media, not from a pre-built template, both are 64-bits.

Hi, I have no idea of what can be the reason for your sudden console blackout...
What I can say is that here on my side, SUDDENLY, after a few random reboots (and without touching anything else!), I'm not experiencing the system-console error messages flood anymore (pls see my last post, sorry I'm a bit in a hurry and I'm not able to put in the link).
I have a different error now, just one, after that it looks like it started to function "by itself".
I'm starting to think OVM 2.2 has major problems with networking, and I have the feeling they are related to the new bridge "xenbr0:0" that has been probably created for putting one more layer of abstraction regarding the Server Pool Master (has it been designed like this to make possible automatic migration of VM Guests that used to be running on a failed Server Pool Master? Who knows... On 2.1.5, in that scenario, HA wouldn't have been of help, and no automatic restore of any VM Guest would have happened).
What I can say after a few days of tests is I dont' trust this system, thinking to steadily go back to 2.1.5...
I'm maybe doing something wrong too, but this is the feeling. I have also several more minor issues too. Uhm.
