Restarting airport after PCMCIA cardbus card removed and reinserted

Ok my problem is this. I have a 3rd party (buffaloTech G54 cardbus) 802.11G card which is airport compatable on a TiBook 667. When I travel, I take the card out of the machine after its asleep and re-insert the card before waking it up again. Every time I do this however, the system recognizes there is a card there but the airport menu says no card was found. The only way then I can get the computer to recognize the card is to restart.
My question is there a way to avoid this? (is it better to turn off the card and remove it before I put it to sleep then wake it and insert the card?) or is there a way I can manually force the drivers to reload via command line?

I suspect unless he had some items in iCloud backup then they are gone. Connecting an iPhone to a different library from that to which it was previously connected will result in the device asking if you want to erase it.

Removing and reinserting tape into camcorder

I am recording on a mini tape. Would there be a problem if I remove the tape reset the counter, use another tape to do some tests, and then reinsert the original tape, and reset the counter to the start?
Would anything get messed up with respect to the time code in FCE?

So, I can remove the tape, and reinsert it later. But, make sure there is a little overlap. The camera >will pick up the Timecode from there.
That's correct.
FYI: Ejecting tapes midway in this manner can damage tape when the threading/unthreading process happens. It's good practice to leave about a minute at the start or end of the tape for this. If possible avoid ejecting midstream.
Most cameras have a Timecode search feature to locate the last recorded section and set you up to avoid breaks.

Having to restart Airport after bootup

New macbook air after bootup does not think it's got an internet connection. It connects to my Time Capsule no problem at all. But for some reason no internet. I have to turn off airport and turn it on again then all is fine. Again, this only happens after sleep or turning off. I use a reserved IP Address from the time capsule because of vuse port forwarding.
I've also got a macbook running in the exact same setup that never has this problem.
Any ideas anyone?

I've solved it!
Turns out the problem was the DHCP lease time. Seems like there is a bug somewhere that only affects the macbook air. The DHCP lease time on the time capsule was set to 31 days. I've now changed it to 1 hour and have not had the problem since. Again, this never affected my macbook, just the macbook air.
I do wish Apple would fix these stupid little bugs. Their customer service is just becoming a "return it to the store and get a new one" model which is rubbish. Reminds me of Dell. Apple just don't seem to listen to the customer anymore.

After that the spinning beachball kept appearing at more and more frequent intervals, even after I had wiped the drive and re-installed Mountain Lion from the Apple site. It is now almost non functional. and just three months out of warranty

MacBook Air computers sold between June 2012 through June 2013 are known to have a high SSD failure rate and Apple is replacing them for free.

Since download of Firefox Hello my home desktop & laptop, both on Windows 7, are very slow to open. I have refreshed firefox, removed download history and turned off the anti virus software in extensions. All the plugins are up to date. Can we revert back to Firefox without Firefox Hello?

Firefox Hello is simply a wrapper for technology already in Firefox, it doesn't negatively impact performance if you aren't using it. Are you saying that your entire computer is slow or just Firefox?

I upgraded my itunes and it restart but after that it went blank and i can not start it up. help !

What should i do now ?

Go to ITunes/Edit/Preferences/Devices and see if your backup is still listed with the time stamp from before the update. If yes, use this backup to restore from after you connected in recovery mode to restore, explained here:

Removing and reinserting processor

I have a G4 Dual 533 which I am upgrading to dual 1.8 Sonnet Encore. I followed all of the instructions and removed the original processor card. When I took the new processor out of the bag, there were some pieces broken off of it so I need to exchange it.
There are two black pads (maybe thermal pads) on the original heatsink. I would like to reinstall my old processor card for use until the replacement gets here. Do I need to use thermal paste (I have none handy) or are those pads enough?

Laserjet M401 requires envelopes to be removed and reinserted every envelope

We have two Laserjet M401's in our offices. Every time that we need to print more than one envelope on either printer, they will print only one of the envelopes before complaining that we need to load paper in the manual feed bin. We then must remove the stack of five or six envelopes, replace them in the bin, then another envelope will print, etc., etc., ad-nauseum. The only way to avoid this process is to stand by the printer and load one envelope at a time into the manual bin as each envelope is ejected. Unfortunately, this seems to be a quite common design problem with HP printers, since we've owned about ten different HP models in the past ten years, and only a very old 4-something model would ever print envelopes with any speed and reliability. Is there anything that anyone can suggest that might help us alleviate this very frustrating problem? Thanks.

I am having the very same issue with my cm1415fnw. I just upgraded the firmware - no change. I did a hard reset as you recommended - no change. I reset to factory default - no change. I cannot figure out how to hit the "home and back area" - the printer simply beeps continuously when I do that with two fingers (one on the home and one on the back area), or one finger in the general area. I've done that for up to 30 seconds with nothing else but beeping happening. The same behavior occurs on either of two routers on my home network. It seems to not occur if I connect the printer to my iPhone 6 Personal Hotspot wirelessly. Everything was working fine until 5 days ago, and has since we bought the printer in 2013. We made no changes to our home network and no new devices were added. This makes the printer unusable, and it is a noise problem with the constant resets. I can only imagine this adds wear to the printer as well. What else can I try??

"Remove and check cartridge" error message

My Dell Latitude died. It was hooked up to my hp psc 2110 all in one printer.
After completing the set-up basics on new laptop, I downloaded the drivers for the printer successfully. A test was successful.
Next day, I tried to print. The printer told my laptop that the ink was low. Installed new cartridge; hit enter to align. It went all the way through alignment, but would not print. Instead it posted the scrolling message “Remove and check cartridge”.
I removed and reinserted the cartridge and nothing changed. Same message.
Expensively (I really needed to print), I inserted a new cartridge. The printer started to align the cartridge. At the second bar it froze. I watched the two unchanging bars for twenty minutes.
Since then (in this order) I have:
Turned off the printer for ten minutes and turned it back on. It started scrolling (?) “Remove and check
          cartridge”
Uninstalled then downloaded the drivers and tried all again.
Left everything off for forty-eight hours.
The troubleshooter from the computer couldn’t identify the problem, but said the toner was fine.
I could not print a self-test report because no matter what button I push nothing changes.
Opening and closing the top section (in order to replace cartridge) makes the cartridge move, but does
               nothing to the message.

After Removing and Readding of an Hyper-V Network Card - No RDP Session to this W2008 R2 Host possible

I removed and after this i readded an virtual Network Card from an W2008 R2 Hyper-V virtual Machine.
After this RDP Connections from this VM to other Servers are working. But when i try to connect from an other machine to this VM over RDP i become the Error "The Computer cant connect to the Remote Computer" .
The W2008 R2 Server Firewall is disabled. The Remote Desktop Service is enabled.

Hi Michael,
1. Is the server listening on TCP 3389? You may check this in the VM by opening an administrator command prompt and entering the following:
netstat -ano
If yes, please verify using Task Manager that the process id listed is the TermServ service.
2. From within the VM, are you able to Remote Desktop to localhost? For the test, please use a different account than you logged on to the VM with.
3. Are you able to ping this VM from other servers/VMs?

Everytime i Sync ipad or iphone after restarting computer the music and movie boxes have been automatically unchecked. Then if i check it it ask remove and sync.Why is this happening?

As question the says itunes keeps unchecking the movies and music boxes and i then have to "remove and Sync" then reselect the movies i want to watch. Movies is set to allow me to selct only what I want and music is sync all music. I appreciate any help.

Hmm. That sounds easy enough... but how do I backup to the new computer when it doesn't give me the option? When I connect the iPad via USB, it asks me to:
• set up as a new IPad
• restore from a previous backup (where the only backup listed in the drop down menu is a stolen iPad with outdated information, dated April of 2011. It doesn't ask to restore from iCloud where this current iPad is backed up.)
If you're suggesting that I back up both devices to iCloud and then wipe them, then plug them into the new computer and restore from the iCloud backup, so that my new computer considers these new devices, that makes sense... except that I don't see an option to restore from iCloud. Does that option appear later? And is it absolutely certain that any app I have entered data into will restore that information as well, and not just the app? For example, if I have an index card app which I make essay notes in, will those notes definitely be backed up along with the app? Or just the app? I can't afford to lose all my work data.

My 2009 MacBook Pro keeps restarting even after I wiped the hard drive and reinstalled OSX.

About a month ago, my laptop started to randomly turn off: I would be using either Chrome, Photoshop (the free CS2 version available from Adobe's website) or Powerpoint, and the screen would go blank. I would then have to hold the power button for a while until the little light at the front of the computer would flicker and it would restart. I brought it to the Mac Store where they tested it and said it looked fine. They suggested I erase my hard drive and reinstall OSX as a precaution.
Fast forward a month, I have been very busy with work and hadn't been able to fix this problem. It wasn't that bad, only once every couple of days, sometimes more, sometimes less, I could work despite this problem.
Then, I installed OSX Mavericks. The installation started in the morning, but, like an idiot, I paused it to go to work. Later on, I completed the installation, it looked fine, but then all day long my laptop would suddenly restart and go to a grey screen that said in multiple languages "Your laptop restarted because of a problem, press any button to continue the restart." A computer technician friend of mine checked it out and said it was probably due to the badly installed OSX and suggested that I erase my hard drive and reinstall OSX.
I backed up all my files, erased the hard drive and reinstalled OSX. Everything looked fine.
Then it happened again.
Any ideas of why this is happening?

This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a Fusion Drive or a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually login automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.
