RESTful Services comfiguration step missing TEST Button

Hello there,
I was asked to set up the RESTful Services. When I get to my last page, there were not a test button to test the RESTful Services Reference as well as the set bind variable button to set the bind valiable. So at this point, I was not able to get the JSON result file that will show the URI where the application will consume the Web Services. Can someone assist me in getting this work? is this problem and upgrade problem? the saystem was upgrade from 4.0 to 4.2
Can someone help?

Hi,
I would recommend that you review the APEX Installation Guide, for details on Configuring RESTful Services using APEX Listener 2.0 or higher.  RESTful Services requires Oracle Application Express Listener 2.0 or later.  The "Test" and "Set Bind Variables" buttons will only be visible on the Resource Handler page of App 4850 when your instance is configured to run with APEX Listener 2.0 or higher.
I would recommend that review the installation doc steps, ensuring that you have executed the apex_rest_config.sql script, and download the latest version of APEX Listener from OTN and configure it.  Within the downloaded Listener zipfile, you'll contain a very useful RESTful Services Developer Guide, which I recommend that you review.

Hilary

  • How to test RESTful service?

    Hello Everyone!
    Working on APEX REST services, my query is in regard with the below link:
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E37097_01/doc/doc.42/e35128/restful_svc.htm#autoId6
    In the above link, heading '5.5.2 Retrieving Data Based on a Parameter (employees/{id})' -> points from 1. -to- .8 are covered.
    Stuck on point '9. Click Set Bind Variables.', I cannot find this link on that page under my Development environment Application Express 4.2.0.00.27.
    Kindly help to locate this link so that I can test my service?
    For more clarity, please click below image link
    http://www.oracle.com/webfolder/technetwork/tutorials/obe/cloud/dbservice/restfulws/images/t2_02.jpg
    The mouse cursor is placed at the end of the page on one of the two buttons 'Test' & 'Set Bind Variables', my development environment doesn't show these buttons. Anyone know why is this happening?
    - Krishna Vashistha

    Okay, I have got this sort out on my own.
    For the record, you must update you apex listener with new release apex_listener.2.0.5.287.04.27, which supports RESTful services. By updating you will see those two missing buttons 'Test' & 'Set Bind Variables', to test your newly created service.

  • Cisco 69xx missed calls as service URL at a feature button

    Hi,
    can anybody help me to use "Missed Calls" as a service URL (Standard IP phone service) at a Cisco 6941 at a feature button?
    Referring to this thread (https://supportforums.cisco.com/thread/1003641) it should work at a Cisco 69xx phone.
    I just copied the phone service "Missed Calls" and changed "directory" to "Standard-IP-phoneservice".
    The service URL I don`t changed and it`s still "Application:Cisco/MissedCalls".
    When I try to use this copied phone service at a Cisco 6941 as a URL at a feature button next to the line-button I always get back a XML-error.
    Is the service URL "Application:Cisco/MissedCalls" still correct when I try to use Missed calls as a Standard IP phoneservice?
    The load at the Cisco 6941 is SIP 9.3.3.2.
    I also tried SCCP instead of SIP but it`s still not working.
    BR
    Michael

    I think I found something. I tried it on CIPC - SCCP, nothing was displayed on the Phone when the button was pressed. Testing with other phone models now.
    Here are the instructions if someone else is also intrested:
    Adding an IP Phone Service to a Phone Button If you want to do so, you can assign the service to a phone button (a speed dial button) that is configured as a service URL. By default, the IP phone service can display under the Directory, Message, or Services button/options on the phone, depending on your configuration in the IP Phone Services Configuration window, so you only need to add an IP phone service to a phone button if you want the service to display as a speed dial. You can only perform this procedure for IP phone services that are not marked as enterprise subscriptions. Perform the following steps to add a service to a service URL button. Procedure
    Add the service to Cisco Unified Communications Manager (see IP Phone Service Configuration Settings).
    Customize a phone button template by configuring a Service URL button (see the "Phone Button Template Configuration Settings" section on page 73-1).
    Add the customized phone button template to the phone (see the "Configuring Cisco Unified IP Phones" section on page 67-30).
    Subscribe the service to the phone (see the "Configuring IP Phone Services" section on page 67-35).
    Add the service URL to a phone button (see the "Configuring Service URL Buttons" section on page 67-38).

  • TNS timed out error while testing REST service

    4.2
    11g
    Hi There,
    We had a new application which was to get and post data using REST API which connects to an internal server. This works fine when we use the Google Chrome Advance REST application through the browser, but get a TNS timed out when trying through Apex
    Even a simple sql in the SQL workarea in Apex throws the same error
    select utl_http.request( 'http://ourserver.com/api/subscriptions') test
    from dual;
    ORA-29273: HTTP request failed ORA-06512: at "SYS.UTL_HTTP", line 1130 ORA-12535: TNS:operation timed out
    Any idea, what the issue could be?   Works fine from the browser though using a REST client
    Trying this for the first time.
    thanks,
    Ryan

    Hi Ryan,
    During your installation, did you follow the steps to enable Network Services, which is one of the requirements when using web services in APEX.  You'll find the necessary information in the installation guide.   Also in your utl_http.request call, have you tried specifying a proxy, if one is required?  You might also want to take a look at at apex_web_service API, specifically the make_rest_request function, which might be useful if you're looking to invoke a RESTful Service via PL/SQL in your application.

  • SAXException submitting to Web Service, but works fine in "Test" button in dialog

    I have an external web service to call from LC, and I know it works with a sample XML file I was given. When I exercise that xml in the Test area of the WebService Settings dialog for the Invoke Web Service activity in my LC process, it works perfectly.
    But when I actually invoke the process, I get this error back from the service's server:
      <faultstring>org.xml.sax.SAXException: WSWS3084E: Error: SimpleDeserializer encountered a child element, which is NOT expected, in something it was trying to deserialize.</faultstring>
    I put WireShark on the LC dev server I'm using, and was able to observe that when the Test button calls the web service, the Protocol is marked as HTTP/XML. When I run it through my process using the exact same xml as the test is using, it reports just HTTP, not HTTP/XML. That's the only clue I can find as to what's different about the 2 calls, one succeeding, the other failing.
    Has anyone seen anything like this and have a solution? I'm unable to invoke this web service. Note that other calls to the same server work fine, with identical settings and similar operations.
    Thanks!

    I don't advocate or use global variables either. However a functional global (sometimes called an action engine) is not a traditional global variable. It is a subVI with an uninitialized shift register to store the data and an input which indicates what action should be performed. In the simplest case this is just initialize, read and write. However you can perform more complex tests or operations on this data as well. An action engine can be viewed similar to an object. You have a single instance that has data and methods you can perform. However action engines (unless implement using LVOOP) do not support all of the other features of OOP classes and objects.
    The fact that your program crashes tells me that in some part of your code your reference is becoming invalid. You could be running into a case where the reference is being automatically closed and released due to the order of execution of your code. It is not an inherent flaw in the language.
    In addition, a good application architecture will try to decouple the UI from the processing tasks. Passing references to items on the UI to low level tasks creates an explicit link between the UI and the processing task. It couples them together and makes reuse more difficult. Creating an API (via events, notifiers, queues or an action engine) decouples the processing task from the UI. It makes your application code more flexible and easier to reuse.

  • Testing of Restful Service with ECATT

    HI,
    has anyone experience with testing Restful services via ECATT?
    I didn't find any documentation about this.
    BR,
    Oliver

    I figured this out...the context root is NOT the one specified in the @ApplicationPath annotation. The context root has to be specificed in the vendor-specific dd, glassfish-web.xml for example, or the default needs to be accepted.
    The endpoint URI is of the form http://hostname:port/contextRoot/applicationPath/path, where applicationPath is specific with @ApplicationPath and path with @Path.

  • Testing OSB REST Service

    Hello,
    I have created an OSB Service(HTTP) which can be exposed as REST service to consumer application. Now, how can i test this OSB Service using SOAP UI/some tool, as its not exactly soap service(wsdl) but a REST Service.
    Also, the end point URI in Proxy would be the end point for this OSB Service which can be exposed to consumer application?
    Thanks

    You can test REST services from SOAPUI.

  • Want to access RESTful Services through Java Program

    We are trying to access RESTful Services exposed by Oracle database cloud through our Java code, with authentication enabled for a particular user.
    Till now, we have completed below steps:
    1) We have a working account with Oracle database cloud (Username – xxx.xxx)
    2) We log in using the credentials for above account, and navigate to Oracle Apex ? SQL Workshop ? RESTful Services
    3) We create a new “RESTful Service Module” by filling out the details as below:
         Name:                                  SampleTest
         URI Prefix:                            test
         URI Template:                       /getallemp
         Pagination Size:                    25 (kept to default)
         Required Privilege:                 TestGroupPrivilege
         Resource Handler Details:
                    Method:              GET
                    Source Type:      Query
                    Format:               JSON
                    Source:               select * from emp
    After creating the above module and testing it, it works fine and the data is retrieved in JSON successfully.
    The resulting URL for above RESTful Service Module is: https://<HOST_URL>/apex/test/getallemp
    Note that “TestGroupPrivilege” is a privilege assigned to the user group “RESTful Services” and the user “xxx.xxx” is a member of “RESTful Services” user group.
    4) We are unable to call the RESTful services from Java program. We are passing username and password in request header as basic authentication. But, we are getting: Error 500--Internal Server Error
    5) If we change the “Required Privilege” to default i.e. no privileges present on the module, we can get the response through Java code and everything works perfectly fine.
    Please suggest us in: How to access RESTful Services through Java code by passing user credentials in HTTP header for authentication. Also let us know if we have to do any settings through Apex, in case we are missing any.

    - When we are logging in to Oracle cloud on browser and execute the Oracle cloud RESTful service in another tab of same browser, we are able to get the result. But when executed the same RESTful service from a different browser or java program we get internal server error.
    - After investigation, we found that when user logs in to oracle database cloud, a cookie is set in browser with name s “OAMAuthnCookie_cstest-domo.db.us1.oraclecloudapps.com:443” and value as some random token. This cookie is passed in the subsequent requests to the RESTful Service calls when using same browser and as a result, we are able to get the results
    - In the Java program, we copied the same cookie with random token in the HTTP Request header and we got the proper response from REST APIs.
    - It seems that this cookie is created by an Oracle Middleware tool/server called as OAM – Oracle Accounts Manager, which sends the authentication token after successful authentication and creates the cookie.
    - We found that the cookie that OAM creates on authentication is exactly in the same format i.e. ‘OAMAuthnCookie_cstest-domo.db.us1.oraclecloudapps.com:443’. So, we are guessing that Oracle cloud uses OAM for authentication. Please refer to following link for same : http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E14571_01/doc.1111/e15478/sso.htm
    Can anyone please suggest:
    1.     How to provide authentication to Oracle Cloud REST APIs from java program?
    2.     How to pass the username and password in Java code to OAM (or how to communicate with OAM using Java) so that we can receive the unique token from OAM. We can use the token in the further requests? 3.     Also in Oracle cloud white papers , it is mentioned that they support OAuth2.0. But we didn’t find any URLs for same. Can anyone please confirm?
    Thanks
    ~ Neeraj Girolkar

    Hi Nilesh,
    We tried to connect to Oracle Cloud Database using the way you suggested above, but unfortunately it is not working as well.
    Can you let us know the authentication process with Oracle Cloud Database? We found in documentation that it uses OAM (Oracle Access Manager) for authentication. Can you tell us a bit about that? That will be extremely helpful.
    Thanks,
    - Neeraj

  • Passing HTTP Headers from BPEL to a RESTFul service in SOA 11g PS2.

    Hi All,
    We have the following requirement.
    We need to pass the following headers to RESTFul service.
    x_invensys_wss_username = "Some UserName"
    x_invensys_wss_password = "Some Password".
    I tried to first pass username and password properties by following below post.
    Attach Http headers in BPEL Process
    Specifically below steps..
    Hi,
    If you are talking about how to invoke a secured webservice...please follow this...
    After creating the reference for your secured webservice in your composite, right click on the composite and say configure web service policies...
    Add the security policy named "oracle/wss_http_token_client_policy"
    And also, for the reference, create two binding properties
    1. oracle.webservices.auth.username
    2. oracle.webservices.auth.password
    For the above two properties, provide the appropriate values.....
    Please test the same after making this changes and let me know....

    Somehow i don't see the headers getting added to the call.
    The service i am calling don't really need these headers.But the URL we will be calling shortly for the real application need them.
    Can someone let me know whether this SOA version supports this or not.?
    If yes , Then what is the best way to solve this issue.[i.e Able to send hardcoded values and also user specified values.]

    Hi all,
    I am trying to invoke a REST service from BPEL.
    I am supposed to call the following REST URL:
    http://apolloiserdev.corp.webex.com/ExportComplianceWS/webresources/ECCheck/emailDomainCheck/[email protected]
    In order to achieve this:
    1. I created an empty composite
    2. Added a HTTP Binding as external reference
         2.1 In the HTTP Binding wizard, I copied the above URL in 'Endpoint'
         2.2 Operation Name --> request-response
         2.3 Verb --> GET
         2.4 Created XSD for Req and resp and added those in 'Messages'
    Now, when I deploy and test this process, I get the following error messages:
    Unable to access the following endpoint(s): REPLACE_WITH_ACTUAL_URL
    Unable to access the following endpoint(s): http://apolloiserdev.corp.webex.com/ExportComplianceWS/webresources/ECCheck/emailDomainCheck/[email protected]/ExportComplianceWS/webresources/ECCheck/emailDomainCheck/[email protected]
    However, when I open the same URL using my web browser or test it using Mozilla REST client, I get a success response.
    Am I missing out something in my BPEL process?
    Regards,

    Not sure if this helps. But for rest based services we need to create a WSDL which has http protocol and get/post method like below
    types>
    <message name="HttpPostParamIn">
    <part name="param1" type="xsd:string"/>
    <part name="param2" type="xsd:string"/>
    </message>
    <message name="HttpPostParamOut">
    <part name="Body" element="get:Request"/>
    </message>
    <portType name="HttpPostParamPortType">
    <operation name="PostData">
    <input message="tns:HttpPostParamIn"/>
    <output message="tns:HttpPostParamOut"/>
    </operation>
    </portType>
    <binding name="HttpPostParamBinding" type="tns:HttpPostParamPortType">
    <http:binding verb="POST"/>
    <operation name="PostData">
    <http:operation location="/EchoApp/echo"/>
    <input>
    <mime:content type="application/x-www-form-urlencoded"/>
    </input>
    <output>
    <mime:mimeXml part="Body"/>
    </output>
    </operation>
    </binding>
    <service name="PostParamService">
    <port name="HttpPostParamPort" binding="tns:HttpPostParamBinding">
    <http:address location="http://localhost:7001"/>
    </port>
    </service>
    <plnk:partnerLinkType name="PostParamService">
    <plnk:role name="PostParamServiceProvider">
    <plnk:portType name="tns:HttpPostParamPortType"/>
    </plnk:role>
    </plnk:partnerLinkType>
    definitions>
    And then use this wsdl to invoke it from BPEL.like any other wsdl using partner link.

  • About the Error after applying product key for bing search rest service

    For the Project Siena I ve created the product key for Bing search rest service and i applied that product key which is valid even though i got the error when i click TRY button .can anyone please help me to find the solution
    There was an error in retrieving sample data. Error : Unable to reach service. Please check if your service connector configuration is valid and you have network connectivity

    Hello,
    Thanks for your post. I am jotting down few steps to get the Bing search account key (you may have completed many/all of these).
    To add Bing Search Service, go to
    https://datamarket.azure.com/account/datasets and search for "Bing Search API". After you have subscribed to the service, navigate to "My Data" and click on Use. Click on Show and copy the
    Primary Account Key information.
    Note if your key contains a special character like / or = then double clicking on the content will copy the key partially.
    Make sure you have copied the full key correctly. If the is incorrectly pasted in Siena's Primary Account Key field, you will get the error below:
    This is similar to the error you have posted. Since the Primary Account Key is masked you can never be sure the contents are correct. It's best to clear the field and paste the key again.
    If you still face the issue, please post your machine configuration (x86/OS) information.
    Hope this helps,

  • Do SMP3.0 supports JSON based RESTful services exposed via JBOSS server??

    Hi All,
    We are working on a PoC for a customer to consume JSON based RESTful (exposed via JBOSS Server) service from SMP 3.0. We were not able to get the DataSet. the below are the steps which we performed and the respective result.
    1) Created a SMP Application - Able to ping the application with the base URL
    2) Tested the connections - Able to create a Registration using Firefox POSTMAN client
    3) Data Consumption from the service - We are not able to get the response for the service when we try the same via SMP,but we are able to get the data when we try the REST service URL directly from the browser.
    How do we achieve this? Do SMP3.0 support JSON based RESTful service? Can Integration Gateway Help?
    Thanks, Prem

    hi Jitendra,
    attached are the screen shots of both SMP service from postman we tried and the original service from the browser.
    1- postman ping for SMP URL and header says success.
    2- Response body with entity set structure and empty data there is no data inside the collection named "Connection" as well and if i call this i fails with 501, that not implemented, so i guess SMP3 is unable to create the entity set out the JSON REST services while converting it into Odata service internally.
    3- i can view data if run directly the REST service from browser.

  • RESTful Service on Oracle BPM 11g

    Is it possible to integrate a RESTful Service to the Oracle BPM? If yes, are there any examples for the integration?

    Typically you would use a Message Start event to start the process in conjunction with a Message End event. This will allow your process to be called as an asynchronous web service.
    In the "Implementation" section for the start event, you specify the input parameters. You can specify "Define Interface" to directly define the interface, or use an existing interface from the BPM Catalog (the From Catalog option).
    For further details on the different event types and their use cases, refer to the modeling and implementation guide:
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E14571_01/doc.1111/e15176/toc.htm
    You can test the web service and examine the WSDL and endpoints by using FMW control (Enterprise Manager). In the menu on the left hand side: expand SOA -> SOA-Infra -> <Partition Name> -> Composite Name, then click the "Test" button at the top.
