  • HT1222 I installed the most recent ITunes update after which Itunes no longer worked.. I received an error message   Error 7  Windows 193.  I did a system restore to eliminate the update.

Apple support had not responded to my requests for clarification.  The update corrupted both ITunes and Office Outlook mobileme.  The error message when I tried to start up I Tunes was Error 7 Windows 193.  I un installed I Tunes and re installed the latest ver and encountered the same error message.  I finally did a system restore.  Was this a one time problem or is the update bad.  In over 30 years I'd never had a problem with any Apple update.

  • Error 2330, Windows Vista - Can't uninstall or Reinstall ITunes

Itunes was working fine for quite awhile, but now when I access the store to download another song the store shows up but almost immediately blanks out to a white screen with only header info on it, no details.
When Itunes starts up, I get a message saying that there is a problem with the installation and CD downloads will not work.
I have tried reinstalling Itunes and Quicktime from the apple website. Also, uninstalling both from the Windows control settings. QT gets uninstalled and reinstalled fine. I get error 2330 with no other information when trying to reinstall or uninstall Itunes.
Have tried clearing out the TEMP folder and also doing selective startup as directed on the apple help tips. Still no luck.
Does anyone have suggestions how to resolve the 2330 error and why I am getting it?
    THANK YOU !!

I had this same issue with the iTunes store loading then going to a blank white screen straight after. I then checked for updates, installed everything it told me to (Safari, Quicktime, iTunes). However after everything installed it cut my internet connection. I was able to browse the internet for about a minute before I completely lost my internet connection.
I called my router manufacturer, they could not resolve my issue as the other PC's could access the internet so I knew it was iTunes/Safari/Quicktime. I did a system restore (I am using Windows Vista), that did not work. I searched on the other PC for help and found somewhere to uninstall network adaptors under the device manager. That just took away all my applications that pointed towards the internet so I did another system restore to bring them back, but this however fixed my issue. I did have to re-access my router from my computer by prompting it to reconnect to my ISP and then I got my internet back.
But, I can't access my iTunes or listen to my music.

  • TM2 unable to restore Windows 7 after Windows 8 Release Preview - have restore DVDs, still fails.

Hello!  I've pretty much run out of idea's on how to troubleshoot this so I'll do a summary of what I changed with the machine and then troubleshooting details further on.  The particular hp touchsmart notebook I have is a TM2 1079cl,  Product Number: WA812UA#ABA.  I've only had it for the length of 2012, I purchased it used from another person about 1 year ago now specifically to toy with Windows 8 before it's release.  As far as the hardwares actual age I can tell from the warrenty information that it was manufactured in late 2009, it states the warranty period was from January 2010 to Jan 2011.
Alright, so my history with the OS changes goes:
-> Purchased this TM2 in early 2012, ran the recovery partition to wipe it clean of the previous owners use and it ran through installation perfectly fine, then on a clean Windows 7 as if it were new.  I'd also made use of a bootable Acronis True Image 2010 disk to make a hard disk image of the three other partitions for recovery (though I did not include the freshly installed windows 7 partition, figured it wouldn't matter if recovery could do it's thing right?)
-> Some days later I loaded the second of the three preview releases for Windows 8 onto it (Customer Preview build I believe).   All worked fine and it dual booted between the two without issue, afaik the only real changes it made amounted to converting the primary partition Windows 7 was installed on to an extended partition and splitting the existing Windows 7 partition equally 50/50 inside that extended partition.  It had also overriden the boot manager / bootloader that was there before but again not surprised.
-> When Release Preview build came out over summer I did an update from inside windows 8 and all seemed fine still.  The change between the two preview builds did develop an issue where I couldn't shut windows 8 down without a handful of error boxes poping up but I'm pretty sure that was unrelated.
-> More recently about thanksgiving time I decided to give the laptop to a family member with a archiac desktop that's got issues and general old factor that makes it not worth updating.   This person is pretty adverse to change so that whole "Win8-vs-what people are used to" thing comes into play.   I decided to wipe the TM2 clean back to the OS it shipped with.    Here's where I'm now stuck:
=> Before doing anything I made another True Image of the HDD as a just incase, glad I did.
=> Tried F11 to load the recovery partition only to find that because of the bootloader being tampered with by Windows 8 it doesn't actually go to the HP recovery partition anymore despite still being on the hard drive.
=> Grabbed the hard disk image from the beginning of the year with the recovery partition on it before windows 8 touched the machine, wiped the hdd completely clean, restored the disk image.   I could now get into HP recovery fine but....
=> I got a dialog error right off the bat saying that the recovery partition could not install and instructing me to insert disc 1 of the recovery software.  Well I never made the dvd's myself with the one-time use burning feature when it worked so that's out and I had not bought the discs from HP's support site.   At this point I'm puzzled though why the recovery partition can't install despite the computer loading up into recovery just fine.  For example command prompt in the Windows PE environment is functional and all files seem to be present.   Maybe some verification that the recovery partition isn't pirated might have been triggered by hard disk imaging, i'm really not sure?
=> I then made used of the HDD image I'd just created before trying this and restored the other copy of the drive (Win8 tampered bootloader, Win8 release preview, win7, the inaccessible recovery partition and all).   Windows 7 and 8-RP could still boot.   Googled around a bit about the recovery partition key (F11) getting messed up by Windows 8 and came to find I only needed to set recovery as the "Active" partition to get it to start.  Sure enough that got it to start but I'm running into the same issue where the actual recovery partition loads up but now refuses to begin the restore process without HP dvd's.  Since I know for certain this worked months ago I guess once again since I ended up restoring that version of the recovery partition it may have also declared itself tampered with... great.
=> Contemplated what to do for a bit and then finally just ordered the DVD's from HP in December, I specifically got the recovery DVD's for my model and they did come from HP directly, not second hand from ebay or another person.  Wasn't really that bad, $16, very reasonable price.  Should be set right, legit OEM DVD's to use?  Nope....
=> The DVD's came.  Two discs for main recovery and a third for applications and drivers.   Boot off disc one and it states it's formatting the drive how it wants (good, i'm liking this so far), copies all of the contents of the three discs to the hdd and begins it's reboot and install cycle.    Reboots a handful of times, you can tell it gets well past copying the contents of any of the discs and into installing windows.  You see the Windows 7 boot logo a few times and even the standard "preparing your things" background that's similar to the Windows 7 login screen.  The screen definitely gets as far as installing the proper graphics driver (and others I assume at that time) as the resolution changes to native for the TM2's LCD near the end.
=>  Suddenly on the 3rd or 4th (I think) reboot of installing windows it starts for a moment then says shutting down, it reboots and it's back in the windows PE environment of recovery setup again (this time coming from the hard drive, not the DVDs) and says it's failed to restore and offers to start everything over from the very beginning.
That's where I'm stuck.  The Recovery Partition died on me post-Windows 8 and the offical HP recovery DVD's are failing me (and oddly they're failing me seemingly in the very last steps of windows 7 restore, well after the DVD's themselves are no longer being read from).
    >> Question 1:  Does the HP recovery partition "self destruct" if it gets imaged by hard drive imaging software and restored?  I can confirm mine worked fine once and then dead after going through Acronis True Image.  Another possibility is maybe there's some ID's or tattooing of the hard drive or specific partitions that was lost when Windows 8 put it's newer bootloader into the machine or lost from Acronis?  This is still the oem hdd that came with the computer, it has not been switched out.
    >> Question 2:  Are there any known problems with the official Windows 7 recovery DVD's for a late 2009 TM2 1079cl?  I'm also aware of the Cyberlink recovery software patch / pre-install disc and tried this with results that were no different to without it.  That said my machine does have the Cyberlink version of the recovery software, I read there's something like 3 different companies software for recovery depending on time period the laptop was made and sold.
    Reference: [ http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?cc=us&lc=en&softwareitem=pv-80183-1 ]
    >> Question 3:  Plainly put, what now?  Anything else to try or do I need to go find an RTM windows 7 disc and scrounge all the driver zips together?  (Very much hoping to avoid that, I'm actually pretty curious to really understand what happened here and while that'll work it would answer nothing.  hehe).
Maybe related things as well:  Some searches led me to believe having the WLAN switch off at the start of recovery causes driver installation to flip out (and indeed win7 seems to drop dead during the last steps of driver install) however it's not possible it would seem to turn the WLAN card "on" before this point.  Switch won't bring it to enabled state anyways.   As I mentioned above the Cyberlink recovery software patch has no effect on things.   No parts have ever been changed in this machine, original hdd, wlan card, ram modules, ect.   I doubt the motherboard bios / firmware has ever been updated, machine states it's revision F.02.
    I have at my disposal:
    * A lot of time, actually, hense why I really want to know what happened and not use the Win7 RTM disc.
    * hdd image of HP recovery before Win8 touched the machine.
    * hdd image of recovery after Win8 and a kinda buggy but still bootable Win8-RP.
    * The correct HP-made recovery DVD's for my laptop, ordered recently (December 2012).
    * Confident enough to toy with partition editing tools should it be a suggestion, never really used much outside of gparted on linux live discs however.  Considering the current state of the machine there's nothing to risk losing anymore though.
Sorry for the text wall!  I like being very detailed!
    This question was solved.

I have the tm2 and have not experience an issue with the recovery and wifi being off, but it certainly is in the realm of possibility.  I just had not encountered it on my own tm2, so I subconsciously dismissed it or just didn't think of it as a result.
Thank you for sharing your solution with the community.

Iphone would not restore---- Error -50. I have tried to restore, and it restored it to the new point that it created after 5.0 was installed. How can I get it an older restore point from my backups and restore it on another computer? The phone has been wiped out. I can see earlier backups in my C:\Documents and Settings\user\Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup folder. There are four subfolders in this address. I need my contacts, photos, and messages back. I know this is a common error but I can not figure it out. I have ran the other troublshoot items in the error steps for 13 and 14 like apple says. Is there a way to call apple and get a step by step of how to restore from another restore point? Does anybody have a solution????

It tells you to go to Error 13 and 14 if you receive error (-50).
Here is what I have tried...
Error 13 and 14: These errors are typically resolved by performing one or more of the steps listed below:
Perform USB isolation troubleshooting, including trying a different USB port directly on the computer. See the advanced steps below for USB troubleshooting. I have moved it around to different ports.
Put a USB 2.0 hub between the device and the computer. Didn't change anything.
    Try a different USB 30-pin dock-connector cable.
Eliminate third-party security software conflicts. Removed all virus protection and firewall.
There may be third-party software installed that modifies your default packet size in Windows by inserting one or more TcpWindowSize entries into your registry. Your default packet size being set incorrectly can cause this error. Contact the manufacturer of the software that installed the packet-size modification for assistance. Or, follow this article by Microsoft: How to reset Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) to reset the packet size back to the default for Windows.Used the Microsoft fix it.
Connect your computer directly to your Internet source, bypassing any routers, hubs, or switches. You may need to restart your computer and modem to get online. Doesn't matter.
Try to restore from another known-good computer and network. I do not know how to do this or how to find the correct/full/complete restore point. There should be more information for this.

  • IPhone will not update (error code 1) will not restore even in DFU mode (error code 1)

I bought the iPhone 4S from a friend, and I came to wiping it manually from the handset, no problems found however during the initial steps the iPhone was unable to validate on the apple servers (with the carrier stuck on searching). So, I plugged the phone into my trusty laptop installed Itunes fresh and proceeded to restore. The process gets to the later part of the validation and throws up an Error Code 1.
I'm aware (from searches across the internet) that error code 1 is typically found in phones with tampered hardware/software e.g. Jailbreak, unlock etc. My friend is not tech savvy and doesnt have a clue about these things so I'm sure the phone is 'as is'.
So i proceeded to troubleshoot the issue:
I edited my hosts file to point to the apple validation server (and checked it allowed connections to gs.apple.com within my browser - successful).
Now as the handset is stuck in recovery mode (with the usb and apple logo) I tried to restore via regular Recovery mode - no sucess (error 1)
Entered the phone into DFU mode (which, in essence ALL of google preaches is the way to restore regardless of issue) same error occurred.
So i looked into 3rd party applications that could force it to restore or perhaps allow a functional end product.
Redsnow (latest edition only provides restore for up to iOS 6.1.somethingorother) that produced a dead end.
Pangu restore facility (latest edition for iOS 7/some 8 models) hanged at the same place as the apple loader.
I've tried flushing my DNS cache, and verified the Date/time on my computer and router is correct.
I refuse to accept the phone is nonfunctional but am rapidly running out of ideas as how to
    a) restore it to the iOS it initially had
    b) update it forcefully and have iOS 8
    c) install a custom rom in the hope some fuctionality exists enough to restore it again.
Please inform me of any suggestions you might have,
    regards Jack.
PS. Further information; This has been attempted on 2 seperate windows workstations both running windows 8.1 up to date.
The USB cable is an unofficial one but has caused no issues in the past on another iphone that ive restored.

Do you have the latest version of iTunes? Did you check for anti-virus software? One of the sections talks about interference from anti-virus software and firewalls. Also, you should not have to make any changes to your Host file unless your computer has been used to jailbreak a phone. I worry because you were using a number of software applications that are designed for jailbreaking devices. Excerpt from this support document. • Installed iTunes 10.2.1 for Windows (64-bit), Error 7 Windows 998

    Hello
After updating iTunes 10.2.1 for Windows (64-bit)I am getting the dreaded iTunes was not installed correctly, Please reinstall iTunes. With error 7 (Windows error 998) popups.
Tried already all the known uninstall/install/repair suggestions. Tried runnng as administrator or changing permissions. Tried disabling Bonjour Service.
Until now nothing has repaired it.
Is there a way to fix this? Can it be an Adobe update?
Is there a way to get an older version?

I had the same problem. I tried doing a system restore to a day or 2 before i did the update. The restore was successful but the itunes problem remained. After that I went into the control panel, selected itunes and clicked the repair tab.
It now works fine for me. The only other step I took was to copy my itunes folder into another location in case anything went wrong. Once the repair was complete I simply replaced the new empty itunes folder with my previous one.
Hope this is of some help.

  • ITunes update shows runtime error R6034/iTunes error 7/Windows error 1114. iTunes tells me to reinstall but I've uninstalled/restalled and get same error messages.

After iTunes update I see this - Runtime error R6034 "application has made an attempt to load the C runtime library incorrectly".  ThenUninstalled then I also get iTunes was not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes error 7 (Windows error 1114).  I've tried fixes for runtime but computer says there are no errors.  I've uninstalled/reinstalled iTunes and get all the above messages.  Now when I start up my computer the runtime error pops up, but once it is closed computer works fine until I try to open iTunes.  I've even tried a system restore going back to November.  I use iTunes for audiobooks on iPod and I'm going to get desperate soon. Any suggestion?

  • Shuffle "cannot be read from or written to" error FIXED - windows xp

This is a quote from another post, I'm not taking any credit for this fix. However, I spent HOURS trying to fix my Shuffle 2nd Gen. I did the 5R's, no help there, absolutely worthless. Even trying to Restore the shuffle, it would error. Basically every time I tried to communicate to the Shuffle, it would hang. Eventually I'd get the "cannot read or write" error, and sometimes that was error -50, sometimes 1418, sometime no code, just the "cannot read or write" error.
On to the fix - FYI at the bottom where it says check "enable disk use" - mine is checked, but with all the room still reserved for songs. i.e., 0 meg for disk use. Also, the format I did was without the "quick format" box checked.
Here is the quote: (formatted to be easier to follow)
Alright, this is what I did, my only fix.
    1) Disconnect the iPod from the computer.
    2) Go to "start> right click my computer> manage> services and applications> services>
    3) Click iPod service> click stop service."
    4) Connect the ipod and it should show up in my computer.
    5) Format it so all content is gone. (ohno: right click, select format, uncheck "quick format" and click OK - should take just a couple seconds to format)
    6) Go back to "start> right click my computer>
manage> services and applications> services> click iPod service> click Start service. This should have the service running again.
    7) Open iTunes and connect the shuffle. When it says to automatically fill it (the window that pops up) dont unclick it, proceed so the shuffle autofills. Before it stops autofilling, quickly go to the settings tab. Then, scroll down to where it says "enable disk use" and check the box, then hit apply. Don't worry about the slider position for disk space, mine has worked with this all the way to the left with 0 meg for disk use.
    8) Done.
    9) How to use: drag and drop songs / playlists in iTunes onto your iPod within the iTunes device list, just hit the eject button next to your iPod device when done.
All management done from iTunes, for some reason formatting via windows and then enabling disk use cleans up the Shuffle, and allows windows to communicate with it. Mine works 100% now.
Only thing is I have not tried the Autofill commands as I don't use them. I drag and drop what I want onto the iPod and it immediately updates. Finally.

I'm a new iPod owner and have spent the past 3 days researching solutions to this problem. Through research and testing I came to the same conclusion. I fixed mine using a slightly different solution:
I took the Shuffle to a local Apple store, had them enable disk usage, brought it home and everything works perfectly now.
The key to the problem is this: When you plug in the iPod, Windows sees it as a mass storage device. As soon as the iPod system service kicks in, it acquires the mass storage device and disallows Windows from seeing it.

  • Unable to install iTunes after converting from Windows Vista to Windows 7.  Am told installation was successful, then "iTunes was not installed correctly", followed by "Error 7 (Windows error 193).

Unable to install iTunes after converting from Windows Vista to Windows 7.  Am told installation was successful, then "iTunes was not installed correctly", followed by "Error 7 (Windows error 193).  I have my iPod plugged into my computer via USB port.  What am I doing wrong?

i have the only account on my laptop so have checked and am the account administrator
i run windows 7 home premium
I have the same problem and
have followed the link uninstalling in the correct order,
    then restarted as per instructions,
went to Apple to download itunes,
    hit download now,
Visit the iTunes download page. Click Download Now to download the iTunes installer. When prompted, click Save (instead of Run).
did not get a save instead of run prompt
Right click on iTunesSetup or iTunes64Setup (the installer you downloaded in step 3).
If you have Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8: Choose "Run as administrator."
i can only click run as administrator from right clicking the shortcut on my desktop screen
If iTunes fails to install or repair, it might be necessary to remove components left from a previous installation of iTunes and then reinstall.
    sick of doing this
at least 7 or 8 times i have re installed itunes to no avail
    troubleshooting no better
please help. pulling my hair out at this stage
it was working fine until 2 days ago when i opened itunes it offered to update to 12.1
not working since i clicked yes
also i have gone to restore previous point and ffs there are no restore points before my multiple reinstalls
really dont want to have to restore factory settings

  • Error 7 (Windows error 126)

Ok so this only happened today, it was working fine the other day.
I tired running iTunes, and an error up which read
"The program can't start because V3HUNT.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem. -> iTunes was not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes. Error 7 (Windows error 126)."
I've followed most replies in this forum, remove all Apple components(QuickTime, Apple Update, iTunes, etc.), update my .net framework to 4.0. It still shows this.
I once got to the point where it says "The ordinal 51 could not be located in the dynamic link library ODBC32.dll".
I somehow think this is connected to a Windows 7 error rather then iTunes. Would it help if I reformatted my computer?

I installed the iTunes version 11.1.4.62 update on Jan. 23, 2014 and the error messages started. I'm 99.9% sure the iTunes update is the root of the problem. I uninstalled iTunes and reinstalled iTunes (version 11.1.4.62) and it still will not open (I still get the Error 7/Error 126 message). I'm also getting an error message when I reboot by PC that says there is an APSDaemon.exe - System Error. That message reads: The program can't start because MSVCR80.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem. I'm not sure what program it is referring to. Apple iTunes I assume. Again the reinstall of iTunes did not fix the problem. I read about a fix for the latter (or maybe both problems at www.pcsupport.about.com that said to remove all Apple software in a certain sequence then reinstall iTunes to fix the problem. Have'nt tried that fix yet. I may just restore my system to an date earlier than Jan. 23, 2014 and see if that fixes the problem. I'm not sure if installing iTunes will fix the MSVCR80.dll problem. Lumenous: As long a you back up your music library before you uninstall/reinstall iTunes you should be OK. If I understand correctly the uninstall/reinstall will not affect your music library files (they are not deleted) but I always, always make a backup. I can't speak to the problem with your titles not being there after you reorganized by genre. I've done quite a bit of editting in my music library over the years (adding titles, artists, etc.) and never experienced that problem.

  • Blue Screen Error for Windows 7 Home Basic 64 Bit

I have a Sony Vaio E Series with WINDOWS 7 64bit home basic preinstalled. It worked perfectly fine for 2 yrs until last month, I needed to replace the hard drive due to bad sectors. Now, after a month of replacing my hard drive fresh from
Sony Center, I decided to do a dual boot (install another OS - Windows 8.1 pro) on a separate partition. Everything is averagely fine. But 2 nights ago, I encounter a blue screen error for WIN 7 (my pre installed one). It happened the second time, so I started
it in safe mode and did a system restore. I don't know if it will prevent future occurence of blue screen, but to make sure, I reinstall my factory default drivers using Vaio CARE... Pls help.
PS: I have not encountered BLUE SCREEN error in Windows 8.1 yet. Is it OS specific? Here's the error the second time, it happened on my Windows 7:

    Hi Garibaldi11,
If you are not equipped to debug this problem, you should use some basic troubleshooting techniques.
•Make sure you have enough disk space.
•If a driver is identified in the bug check message, disable the driver or check with the manufacturer for driver updates.
    •Try changing video adapters.
•Check with your hardware vendor for any BIOS updates.
