Restored a folder, now TM takes forever and when done, won't unmount
i use TM over wifi with a 500gb WD mybook partitioned down the middle, one for me and one for my wife's macbook. it's worked flawlessly ever since we got it six months ago - even allowing me to do a full restore at one point a few months ago.
yesterday, i accidentally deleted my contacts in a dot me snafu, so i restored my address book folder from a backup, and everything was fine.
then, when backing up yesterday evening, i got a "backup failed" error. after repairing permissions, i tried to force a backup, which worked - but it took several hours. this morning, a simple 1.4mb backup took ten minutes. and the disk image both times wouldn't eject.
any ideas?
Hi again:
I'm cautious too, especially when making suggestions to people! Since I have never been in your particular situation, I hesitate to suggest what you should do.
I will tell you what I would do - but that is me. I would trash the preference file and then proceed with setting up TM. Alternatively, I would wipe the TM partition and let it make a brand new backup. I do think something is clobbered in the preference file - again long range supposition.

updated "successfully" to iOS7 on my 4S but now it takes FOREVER to recognize each keystroke - even to type in passcode. also takes forever to type a single key in text. HELP.
Adjusting the date or time didn't do anything for me either. I'm guessing my two options are to either do the full restore from scratch and not apply any backup ... Or possibly wait for an iOS update that might resolve this issue.
I'm not that much of an avid twitter user that I need it implemented natively in all my devices - so for now I'll probably value all my game save data, internal settings in apps e.t.c. over that functionality (or over the amount of work it would be to get me back to where I am now after a full wipe). I'll see what happens after the next iOS delta update. I'll reevaluate the full wipe after that if the issue hasn't been resolved -
a) Am having problems emptying my trash.
Takes forever and then the contents don't delete.
What must i do? My trash box is full and it's affecting my operating system?
b) Does the items in trash slow down my operating system?Abu,
There may be something going on with your ownership if the Trash if the files aren't deleting. OK, let's try this:
Launch Terminal (found in Applications>Utilities folder). At the $ prompt, type (or paste):
ls -la
and hit Return. In the right hand column, you should see .Trash listed and to the left, you will see the "owners" name (in my case, clintondyches). If the owners name shows as root then the following will fix the problem. At the same $ prompt enter
sudo chown yourusername .Trash
(replace yourusername with your actual user name - such as mine being clintondyches).
At the prompt $ again, type or paste:
ls -la
If this was successful, you should see yourusername instead of root.
You should be in business now. You should have ownership of .Trash and be able to empty your Trash, drag items to it and empty it, etc.
Call back and let me know...

I have ipad2 and just got iPad 3 so I try to download all purchased apps to my new iPad but it takes forever and all apps that downloaded are not working, I already restore my old iPad to give it my little girl. Anybody knows what is going on and how cani fix this to have all of my apps to my new iPad. Thank you for reading my question .
Try a Reset [Hold the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons down together for 10 seconds or so (until the Apple logo appears) and then release. When the screen goes blank then power ON again in the normal way.] It is absolutely safe.
Also try downloading another free app and then try again. -
I have had my IPAD2 for quite a while but haven't activated my cellular data for about a year. I am now trying to activate and when I go to cellular data, turn it on and try to tap view account i just get a message that says "connection to server lost". I could swear the last time I used cellular data you would see the signal in the upper left corner and I only see "no service" there, I am in a location where I know I should have service. Is there something I should do to my IPAD? I tried resetting, I tried clearing cookies and history in Safari (after reading a post n these discussions). I don't know what to do next. My IOS version is 6.1.3. I did go into Network from the general tab and I see it says "SIM not provisioned". HELP and Thank you in advance.
Hello Theresa818,
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities!
It sounds like the cellular data will not activate for some reason on the iPad.
I found this article that will help you resolve this issue here, named iPad (Wi-Fi + Cellular Models): Troubleshooting a cellular data connection, found here http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4249
Check for a carrier settings update.
Update your iPad.
Toggle the Cellular Data setting off and on under Settings > Cellular Data.
Restart your iPad.
Tap Settings > General > About. Locate the Carrier entry and make sure that your carrier is correct.
If your SIM card has SIM PIN enabled, try turning it off: Tap Settings > Cellular Data > SIM PIN.
Make sure you're in an area of good coverage. If the cellular data connection works in another area, contact your carrier to report the original affected area.
Reset network settings: Tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
Restore the iPad as new.
If none of the above steps resolves the issue, make an appointment at an Apple Retail Store, contact your carrier, or contact AppleCare to troubleshoot further.
I know you may have done one or two of the steps here, so you can skip those.
Take care,

I have some loops from acid 5 which I have dragged in a folder to the loop browser. Some of them retain the folder name in the View: and some don't. I have also had some that seem to go in but I can't find them. If I try to add them again, I get a msg that they are already there. Where should I look?
It may be best to recreate the folder and the smart playlists from scratch.

I have a 4th gen nano that is loaded with my music library via a prior addition of Windows. I now have Windows 7 and when I access I-tunes and plug in my Ipod I get a list of my music but cannot play it. Open to suggestions on how to solve this this problem.
You can not merge accounts.
Apps are tied to the Apple ID used to download them, you can not transfer them. -
I'm trying to change the content of a tab. Can't find info anywhere! My new tab used to come up as Google search page. Now it is Bing, and I don't want Bing. I have uninstalled the program that inadvertently put it there but Bing remains. Where is the tab control that hooks me up with Tab content?

I started watching a rental. A "new update avalible" popped up, so I clicked it to move it out of the way. Now my video disappeared and I don't want to pay another 5 dollars to rent it again. What do I do or click?
The photos are on the ipod. Photo sync will erase them. I need a way to extract them from the ipod, or to.extract them from the ipod backup that is who knows where on my PC.
I've been searching for an app to do that with no luck. They all seem to want a newer OS than is on my ipod yet I have the most recent update installed. -

I paid a lot of money and now I can't discard it!

When updating my iphone with new software it came up on screen with the cable and itunes sign (which is what I should get when restoration has been completed) yet it is still saying restore. I have tried 3 times and the screen won't change. HELP!
If the sign does not go away it has not completed the restore. So you are incorrect when you say it "keeps completing the restore" if that message is still displayed.
Do you get an error message? If so, what is the error number? -
I downloaded Maverick and when done noticed that the "BURN" icon for my cd/dvd burner is missing. Where did it go and how do I get it back?
In a Finder window, right click on the window's tool bar, select Customize, and drag the Burn button to the tool bar.

Just updated to iOS 6 for iPhone, and now Yahoo takes forever to load.
Help! I updated my iPhone 4 to iOS 6 and now my Yahoo mail either takes forever to load, or never loads at all. Both receiving and sending are sketchy and go at a snail's pace.
I've scoured the Internet and tried all the fixes - deleted account and added again (multiple times), restarted phone, added yahoo account as "other", logged in from a computer, turned off iCloud...
It's driving me bonkers... What am I missing? Yahoo mail still works fine on my iPad, which is running the older iOS.
Heeeeeelp!iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is the thing to do
