Restoring admin account from non-admin account
For a while I've had a problems booting and logging in, which is either a HD or corruption problem, but once in to my admin account, I'm fine for the rest of the day. (This isn't a question about these problems, I know I must do something separately about that.)
This morning I had greater problems than usual, followed by a problem in my admin account - having saved a document once, the next time I got ("[document] could not be saved"). So I restarted, but couldn't get from my login account to my main admin account (after the login details box disappeared, I was left with the empty Leopard splash screen). A second restart brought the same result. I can assume my admin account has some corruption?
I'd like to restore the admin account from the Users folder on yesterday's Time Machine backup, but how do I do that from one of my other accounts, all of which are non-admin accounts?

That's a violation of the license. Legally, you're running pirated software. Worse, you can't restore OSX or Apple apps, repair your internal HD, do a full system restore from your TM backups, etc.
You need a retail Leopard disc, period. If the folks who installed it won't supply it (you might gently suggest that you'll report them to Apple), call AppleCare and pay the $129. If you're going to run Leopard, you need to pay for it.
Or, return to Tiger. On your EHD running Tiger, use the Restore tab to copy the entire Tiger OSX volume to the internal HD. Be sure to check the +Erase destination+ box. That will, of course, erase everything on your Leopard installation. You might be able to copy some of the data elsewhere temporarily, then copy it back, but any data used by Leopard may not work with the Tiger apps.
I've now determined, by trying to login to the iMac HD via Restart+option that my admin account is corrupted - I can login to every other account but not that one.
However, as I explained, i can see all its folders and files via the Tiger account with the same name and password. Here is a possible action plan, let me know what you think?

I have a mid 2010 iMac (1TB HDD—before they had fusion drives) that I'm thinking of upgrading to the new iMac w/Fusion Drive because it's having hardware issues. I do a lot of development and have installed numerous packages and server configurations, of which I've been terrible at cataloging, so I'm hoping to simply do a full restore of the system from my Time Machine backup.
I've done Time Machine restores before, but I'm not sure if it will work properly. I think I remember reading (back when fusion drives came out) that time machine restores that originated on non-fusion drives can't be restored onto fusion drives. After doing a few searches I can't find reference to that, but I have this nagging memory of reading that at some point. Is this true? If I get a fusion drive will I need to start the system new? If so, will I be able to at least restore my home directory files?

Restore RAC database from non-RAC source - EBS R12.1.1
We have restored (PIT) a RAC database from a non-RAC (but ASM) source and I was wondering if that was a reasonable thing to do.
The reason I ask is that I seem to remember that in the upgrade to R12.1.1 the upgrade driver had a different list of jobs to do when the target was RAC vs when it was non-RAC... so is it possible the EBS R12.1.1 code is different for RAC (meaning we dont have the right code base in the DB since we restored a non-RAC source to a RAC destination)?
Disclaimer - I am NOT a DBA .. just trying to identify some potential problems we are troubleshooting.

11gR2We have a RMAN back up of the non-RAC database that was restored and PIT recovered on the RAC database.Is it a full database backup?
The "code" base I am referring to is all the db stored objects for R12 EBS .. database compiled code.Restoring the RMAN backup on the target node is not enough. Have you run AutoConfig or postclone? Does your instance know that this is a a single instance and not a RAC one?
I am nervous that there may be alternate versions of the code to run in RAC vs non-RAC .. for instance I know that some of the ASCP jobs use DBMS PIPES and that can be tricky with RAC and Concurrent Manager.. And when we did the upgrade to R12, pointing it @ RAC generated more and different jobs than when it was not pointed @ RAC .. so SOMETHING was different according to the APPS ADPATCH/ADADMIN utilities.Please explain in details what is the purpose of doing this restore and what exactly you are trying to achieve. What cloning procedure you follow to refresh the target instance?

How can I restore my data from iCal? I didn't make any backup, but I use time machine with an external HD. I deleted iCal when I deleted my gmail account. I have tried to restore, but I can only restore the iCal software and not the data.

If you forgot your encryption password:
Warning: Make sure it's a password you will remember or write it down for safekeeping. If you encrypt an iPhone backup in iTunes and forget your password, you can't restore from backup and your data will be unrecoverable.
If you can't remember the password and want to start again, you must perform a full software restore and chooseset up as a new device when iTunes prompts you to select the backup from which to restore.

After moving from Canada to the US, getting a new iPhone 5C, and restoring my backup from iCloud, I can't update my apps. I get an error message that my account is not valid in the Canadian App store and I must change to the US store. How do I do that?

Settings > iTunes & App Stores > Apple ID: > View Apple ID > Country/Region.
You must have a verified billing address & be located in the country whose store you are trying to use. -

The iCloud account is different from the iTunes store account, although you can use the same ID for both. in your case you can only use one iTunes account at a time to get previously bought apps, music, etc.Once you change to the other one, the stuff from the first account is deleted. In other words you can only realistically use one iTunes account. The same goes with iCloud. you must now decide which account for iTunes you want to stick with. apple does not let you merge two iTunes accounts.

We need to change a g/l account from Non - Open Item Managed to Open Item managed or in other words enable the Open Item Management for an account.
What's the best way to do this ? so that the existing items get cleared automatically.

When u have created the GL and if you have not activate or deactivate the OPEN ITEM mmanagement.

Sorry. Sync isn't really intended as a backup medium as you were trying to use it for. It isn't meant to be a storage "cloud". It's purpose is to keep Firefox bookmarks synchronized across multiple Firefox installations or Profiles - so all your bookmarks are the same on each device / Profile.

This phone was new. And it was sealed from the box that was closed. And the backup was on my laptop. And this icloud account was saved by mistake on my laptop.

Just got an iPhone 5S, I am currently restoring my backup from my iCloud account (iPhone 4S) and I noticed that touch ID Is not in my settings menu, it only says "passcode" instead of "touch id & passcode". HELPPPPPPP

So if you still have your iPhone 4S backup in order and ready to use, you might try:
Settings > General > Reset > Erase all content and settings
... and then start the iPhone 5S setup once again.
It could be that the original seller did not set up the iPhone quite right. -

Can TM restore deleted accounts in Mail?
I deleted an email account and lost all my emails. Can time machine restore that account or emails? I've tried but so far can't seem to do it.

Restoring user account after FileVault problems
My user account has become unusable following a Mac software update in which (I suspect) I stupidly selected not to recover disk space for FileVault when it was rebooting.
I have mounted the sparseimage from another account and used Disk Utility. However, it can not be verified or repaired.
How do I go about either restoring the account or copying the existing files from that account to a new one? And what files do I need to copy under the user's home directory? What is the easiest way of doing this?
Any help much appreciated.I get the message 'Your FileVault-protected home folder did not open and needs repair'.
On clicking OK to repair it, I get 'Logging into the account failed because an error occurs'.
As in the original post, verifying or repairing the mounted home folder does not work. I need to be able to move files from this account to a new account.
