Restrict skills in ESS

Hi,
I have a requirement where in ESS learning page -> skills profile  i want the user to be able to select only one skill.
We thought of disabling the "add new skill button" in portal but that would need logic to be written incase of a user without a skill or if a user deletes a skill.
Can this be done in any other way??
Can this be done in config or Is there any BADi or exit for this???
Regards,
Zubair

Hi,
Let say, you would like to do personalization for Edit Exchange rate.
Please make sure that you do personalization at role level.
Logon with super admin role.
Content admin-> portal content->... ->employee self service > roles->xx ess role->open.
Open Edit Exchange rate I_VIEW and then preview it.
Select the field you would like to personalize.
Now Press control + right click.
Set as invisible Yes and set it as final.
Apply and ok.
Now for all ess users assigned with role "xx ess role" your personalization will work.
To remove ADD button options / modify its label i need to make changes in WebDynpro component from NWDI.

    Use
In this Customizing activity, you can make the settings for the Employee Self-Service (ESS) Skills Profile. You can use the switches available to make the following settings:
Switches QUALI DEST1 and QUALI DEST2 allow you to set up the system ID required for the RFC connection for ESS. In QUALI DEST1, you must enter the first characters of the system ID (maximum of 10 characters). If the system ID exceeds 10 characters, you can enter the remaining characters in QUALI DEST2. In each of the two switches you can enter a maximum of 10 characters. That is, you can enter a system ID that is composed of a maximum of 20 characters.
Switch QUALI FORM enables you to set up the SAPscript form required to print the skills profile in ESS. A standard form is already set up in the standard delivery (see below).
Switch QUALI REQPR enables you to set up which skills proficiencies, required by the position, are to be displayed in the employee's skillsprofile.
Switch QUALI TRURL enables you to set up whether a suitable training proposal should be displayed in the ESS Skills Profile for missing or insufficient skills and licenses.

The following switch settings are delivered as standard:
    QUALI DEST1: - (no value)

  • Restricting certain plans from ESS during open enrollment

    Hi Experts,
We have a requirement to restrict plans from ESS during open enrollment. Please let us know the best possible solution to acheive the same.
We have found that Proxy class CL_BENEFITS_AREAPAGE which is assigned to the service can be copied and enhacned to filter the plans, is this the right approach?

I had that exact same delima, but one of our consultants pointed us to the transaction: HRBEN00ADJRSN
This is a mass load of adjustment reasons.  You just need to feed the program the total time allowed for adjustments and things like start of records date and end of records date.  Because of the dates and the potential for different plans to have different dates, we actually have two open enrollment adjustment reasons.  We have one for Flexible spending where I give the 1/1 begin date and a 12/31 end date since it is only effective for the year in question.  Then we have our main open enrollment for all other plans where the begin date is 1/1 of the new year and 12/31/9999 for the endda.  I then run the HRBEN00ADJRSN twice for the population:  once for the flex enrollment, and then again for the main open enrollment adjustment reason.

  • Unable to find a qualifications catalog for the root object specified-ESS

    Hi SDN,
We are getting following exception Unable to find a qualifications catalog for the root object specified   when click on Add New Skill in Skills Profile, ESS . It is working fine , if user is assigned sap_all role. This is issue with permissions. Which role need to be assigned to work with Skills Profile in r3. Please help me out.
    regards,
    Sree.

Have a look in table T77S0 for an entry called QUALI ESSST and make sure the object ID stored there matches the appropriate node in your qualifications catalogue.
This setting is designed to be used for restricting ESS users to a particular part of the Quals Catalogue.
If the table entry was configured in your development system, it may not match the obect numbers in your production system.

  • EP6 -- EP7 ESS and ERP2005

    Hi,
we are planing to migrate from R/3 4.6 HR to ERP2005 HR
On the portal side, we would like to keep the existing HR-Application with Business Package 50.3, i.e Travel (TRIP) and UWL and some more iviews from the package.
Do we have to migrate the portal from EP 6 to EP7 as well or can we keep the Portal EP6 and migrate only the HR Backend from 4.6 to ERP2005?
    Any experience?
    Thanks

Are there any restrictions regarding the ESS-Scenarios? From what I read in the manual, my impression was that there is no difference between the internal scenario (ABAP Stack and Java Stack together) vs. external Portal. From my understanding, it is just the deployement of the ESS business package, that counts? Is this impression true?
    Thanks

  • Structural authorisation in OOQA catalog

    Hi All,
I have 3 groups of trainings in qualifications catalog such as Regulatory, soft shills and IT training and we have to give Regulatory group access to regulatory qualifications only and soft skills folks can access and maintain only soft skills qualifications and vice versa So i am not sure from authorisation point how do i control each group of qualifications. Any inputs are appreciated,
    Thanks

    Hello Medha
I think you'd be able to restrict using authorization object PLOG (for personnel planning). Maintain value interval for object type QK (denoting your 3 different qualification groups) . So if 'Soft skills' person needs to edit/access only the 'soft skills QK/Q' objects , restrict using QK object ID in the value interval for PLOG authorization object.
Another way to restrict maintenance via ESS is using the 'root qualification group' setting in IMG (PA-PD-ESS)
    Hope this helps u

    Vijay,
SAP Note :  890314 - EP on NW 2004s - Central Note for EP-PIN-AI says below:
Web Dynpro for ABAP cannot start active documents in the Portal
You are using Web Dynpro for ABAP iViews in the Portal and you want to start active documents (e.g pdf files) or Excel files from the WD Dynpro application or you want to preview the print output. You discover that the new window is opened but it remains blank. However it works, when running the Web Dynpro for ABAP application outside the Portal or when using Firefox instead of Internet Explorer.
The problem is that the Portal provides an external session ID to Web Dynpro ABAP which is reused to open the new window. The external session ID is URL encoded which is removed by Internet Explorer, so that the server receives a different ID for the active document request.
The solution is to use only URL save characters for the representation of the external session ID, so that the ESID must not be URL encoded at all.
This problem is fixed in SAP NetWevaer 2004s

  • How to fetch data for skills catalog to the ESS skills profile

    Hi Experts,
I am adding qualifications using the following path:
SPRO > Personnel Management > Personnel Development > Master Data > Edit Qualifications Catalog
This should reflect in the Portal under Career and Job > Learning Page > Skills Profile. Can you please guide me about the steps to be taken to make this available.
    Further to this,
If an employee updates his skills in the portal skills profile, that should update his infotype 24 accordingly. What configuration should be done to make this happen.
    Your guidance is much appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Toa

    Hi Toa,
Can you have a look at the switch QUALI/ESSST in T77S0 the documentation says:
"Within the ESS service used to edit the skills profile, this entry
enables you to restrict the view of the skills catalog to the skills
    group determined here."
    It might help

  • NO Edit for ESS Skills Profile

    Hi,
have any one an Idea how we can deativate the EDIT Buttons in iView for ESS - Skills Profile ?
So Employees should not maintain their Skills Profile on Portal, but only to disply it.
    We are running EP 7.0 (NW04s, SP09), ERP2005 SP05, BP ESS 1.0
    Thanks and Regards,
    Nazih

    Dear Nazih,
we are in 4.6c, ITS and its with display mode with us .. yes you can restrict it in IMG:
Personal Management -> Employee Self-Service -> ESS Settings for Specific Customers -> Skills -> Define Root Qualification Group. and read the help, what you need is there.
by selecting an ID for the root object, you can determine the scope in which you can display or maintain the qualifications.
i dont think so the Portal i-view settings need to be changed related to your point..
    i hope this will help
    good luck

Then Skills Profile page opened, there I clicked Add New Skill button, then moved to a page to add a skill, there I have select the Master of Computer Application from Qualification, then I had given the Existing Proficiency, after that clicked on Add Changes, then clicked on Review Button. And when I clicked on Save Skills Profile button, an error page opens as above.
Please give me the solution for the above problem.
    Regards
    Deep

    Hi there,
    the solution is surprisingly simple.
Everytime you get this error also a shortdump in the SAP system is created. Go to ST22 and look at it.
In our system the error was that the system requested a transport request for changes at the qualifications.
I talked to our HR people and they changed something in table T77S0 --> from that time on these changes were allowed without transport request and so they worked from ESS/portal.

  • How to disable options in ESS-Career and job-Skilla profile

    Hi All,
In ESS-Career and Job-Skill profile, there are three are three buttons 1.EDIT SKILL,2.ADD NEW SKILL,3.DELETE SKILL.
I want to disable those options in Skills profile. Can some body please help me in solving this.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Thirun.

These three buttons are not configurable. You could easily modify them using NWDI and NetWeaver Developer Studio.
This is pretty much your only option to customize this iview.
If you have ESS in a track in NWDI, the Skills Web Dynpro project is under --> ess~skl. Create a project from here and open up the "Ovewview" View from the VcSklOverview Component.
From there, you just need to set the buttons to "Not Visibile"
