Restricted Phone Number

Normally People block their phone number from being displayed on the Caller Id. These calls come in as Restricted Callers or so. How does COD behave in those Cases?

Asking the caller to validate the phone number is related to customer priority. You can give certain customers priority over others (read up in the help on how to do that.) If you have them validate their phone number this way, you have to enable customer priority, but if you don't list any of the callers so their phone numbers aren't matched, every caller would be defaulted to the lowest priority. So, that would work fine as long as you're ok with everyone being low priority; at least they would all have the same priority. The only time I would see that this could be a problem is if you have other interactions like voicemails or emails that weren't at the lowest priority, then your agent would get voicemails or emails before calls.
The best way to know how this will work is to test it out. You'll have to find a number that blocks caller id and call in from that number. See if it asks you to validate. Don't turn customer priority and see if it still works. While doing this, use the supervisor tool to see what the $ANI is.
If you're really worried about doing this because you want the screen to pop the contact EVERY TIME, I suggest you hold off until you go live and actually experience the screen pop. You will find that only a small percentage of calls will be unknown. To give you a rough idea, from one report today out of 671 calls 11 were unknown. To get the screen to pop, the real work comes in making sure your contacts have the phone numbers and the right phone numbers, depending on who your callers are (residential or business). You may have someone calling from an office and their caller id will be the number from their PBX not their direct desk line, so it could be anyone in that company.
In other words, your biggest problem isn't restricted phone numbers; it's having the right contact record set up with the right numbers and related contacts, if needed.

    A JPG won't allow you to actually change the text, but you could blank it out & paste over it I suppose.

  • Want External Phone Number Mask to say "Unknown Caller" Is this Possible?

    When a user dials an external # is it possible to have it show on Caller ID as "Unknown Caller"?
    I have deleted the # that is currently in the External Phone Number Mask, and left it blank, but the Coporate# now shows when he dials out.
    This is something that only needs to be setup for 1 user, not the entire company.

    There will always be some number/name displayed. If you do not put in a number in the outside mask, the number/name associated with the smart trunk will be displayed.
    You might talk to your local phone company and see if they can restrict the numbers or a single phone number. If they can do that on even one number, you can put it into the mask for all of your phones.
    Two other problems you might have with this. One, a lot of people (I do) block calls from phones that do not display a phone numbers.
    Another problem you are going to run into is when someone calls "911" by accident. The Police/fire will try to call back to the number for the smart trunk. And since most often is not on a phone. They will send cars or trucks to the address listed for those smart trunks. Usually the billing address for your company.

  • Phone number deselected in message settings

    Try turning iMessage and FaceTime off and then back on.
    If that doesn't do it, try the suggestions in this Apple doc -> iOS: Troubleshooting FaceTime and iMessage activation
    Troubleshooting telephone-number activation (iPhone only)
    After each step, toggle FaceTime and iMessage off and then on in Settings > Messages and Settings > FaceTime.
    Update to the latest version of iOS.
    Verify that you are connected to a cellular network and can send SMS messages. You need a valid SMS messaging plan to activate FaceTime.
    Ensure that FaceTime has not been restricted: Settings > General > Restrictions > FaceTime.
    In Settings > General > Date & Time, ensure that Set Automatically is on. If Set Automatically is on, but the incorrect time zone is displayed, turn Set Automatically off and then choose the correct time zone, date, and time. Then turn Set Automatically on again.
    Contact your carrier to verify that there are no restrictions on text messages. Blocks on text messaging will prevent  iMessage and FaceTime registration.
    If you are unable to activate  iMessage or FaceTime on a device after remote wiping it, wait at least 24 hours and try again.
    If "Waiting for Activation" is displayed, leave FaceTime and iMessage enabled for 24 hours. Toggling FaceTime or iMessage off and on will cause the registration process to start over.

  • Unable to set PIN - Error: "PIN must not be the same as the user's phone number"

    We are in an ongoing Lync Server 2013 deployment and have elected to set default conference PIN numbers for anyone that doesn't have them currently set.  We decided to make the default PIN the same as the person's telephone extension.  I realize
    this is not a secure PIN setting, but please bear with me.
    When I use PowerShell to loop through the people that do not have a PIN set and attempt to set the PIN to their five-digit extension, PowerShell returns the following exception:
    Set-CsClientPin : PIN must not be the same as the user's phone number (Error "18005").

    I know what you are thinking:  by default, Lync has the AllowCommonPatterns setting set to $false on the Global (default) PIN policy.  But I have created another PIN policy called "Low-restriction PIN Policy" that has this setting set
    to $true and assigned this new policy to the users I am trying to set the PIN on.
    According to
    Microsoft's documentation on the Set-CsClientPin cmdlet, the description for AllowCommonPatterns is as follows:
    "Indicates whether or not "common patterns" are allowed in PINs.
    Common patterns include repeating digits (225577); 4 or more consecutive digits (991234); and
    PINs that match a user's phone number or extension number.
    If set to True common patterns (such as the PIN 123456, which includes consecutive digits)
    are allowed; if set to False common patterns are not allowed. The default value is False."
    Given this information, I do not understand why Lync Server 2013 is preventing me from setting a default PIN that matches their extension number when AllowCommonPatterns is set to $true on the PIN policy assigned to the user.
    Any ideas on what might be wrong?

    Symptoms
    Learn to resolve issues with activating FaceTime and iMessage on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.
    Resolution
    iPhone automatically registers your phone number for use with FaceTime and iMessage.
    To use FaceTime with your Apple ID, navigate to Settings > FaceTime and tap "Use your Apple ID for FaceTime."
    To use iMessage with your Apple ID, navigate to Settings > Messages > Receive At and tap "Use your Apple ID for iMessage."
    When you enable FaceTime or iMessage with an iPad or iPod touch, you need to enter a valid Apple ID and password. Other users will be able to contact you on FaceTime and iMessage using this email address.If you see "Waiting for Activation", "Activation unsuccessful", or "An error occurred during activation"
    These messages occur when your iPhone is trying to activate your phone number with iMessage or FaceTime.To resolve these status messages, follow these steps. After each step, turn FaceTime and iMessage off and on again in Settings > Messages and Settings > FaceTime.
    Update to the latest version of iOS.
    Make sure that you have a cellular network connection with your cellular provider. You need a cellular network connection to activate iMessage and FaceTime with your iPhone phone number.
    Go to www.apple.com in Safari to make sure that you have a data connection. You need a data connection to activate iMessage and FaceTime with your iPhone phone number.
    Make sure that you can send and receive SMS. You need a valid SMS messaging plan to activate FaceTime and iMessage.
    Make sure that FaceTime hasn't been restricted: tap Settings > General > Restrictions > FaceTime.
    Set iPhone to the correct time zone: tap Settings > General > Date & Time.
    Note: If Set Automatically is on but the incorrect time zone appears, turn Set Automatically off and choose the correct time zone, date, and time.
    Contact your carrier to verify that there are no restrictions, blocks, or filters on text messages. Restrictions, blocks, or filters on text messaging will prevent iMessage and FaceTime registration from completing.
    If "Waiting for Activation" still appears after you perform these steps, turn FaceTime and iMessage off and on in Settings > Messages and Settings > FaceTime. You may need to wait up to 24 hours to complete activation. Most attempts will take less than an hour, but some attempts may take up to 24 hours. If your issue isn't resolved after 24 hours, please contact Apple for assistance. If you've recently performed a remote wipe on your iPhone, wait 24 hours from the time you performed the remote wipe, and then turn iMessage off then back on.You can still activate iMessage and FaceTime with your Apple ID when these status messages appear. • Blocking phone number on Android.

    I have a Skype phone number.  It apparently has gotton on a spam list, as I'm getting sales calls. On the desktop Skype, I can simply right click on the number in the call log, block it, and report it as spam all in one step. I can't do that on Android. I need an easy way to block numbers on the Anroid app.  I don't want to jump through the hoop of creating a contact so I can block it. I want to be able to block the number on the Android app the way I do on the desktop app.

        Hi there, nadahappycamper! Thanks so much for sharing your concerns over those unwanted calls, and to winterbaby18 for the assist. You can set up Call & Message blocks on your line. The service is free of charges, allows you to add up to 5 lines, and restricts call and messages from 10 digit numbers for up to 90 renewable days. • Phone Number Vaildation

    Anyone have a function that checks for phone number input
    errors?
    Something like:

    i would try with something like this
    // first of all, you have to be sure that there are only
    numbers in the
    variable, thats easy:
    name_of_the_variable.restrict = "0-9";
    // the only things that you can insert are numbers from 0 to
    9
    // then you have the IF statement:
    if (name_of_the_variable.length == 10 &&
    name_of_the_variable.substr(0, 1)
    != "0" && name_of_the_variable.substr(0, 1) != "1") {
    trace("ok");
    } else {
    trace("noooop");
    you can see that you have an IF with 3 conditions, and
    because the operators
    are AND (&&) the 3 have to be true
    - name_of_the_variable.length == 10 //// number is less or
    more than 10
    digits
    - name_of_the_variable.substr(0, 1) != "0" //// you select

    - name_of_the_variable.substr(0, 1) != "1" //// you select
    the first
