Restricting Equipment Installation With/Without data transfers

Dear Experts,
We have to give rights to the users to Install Equipments to Functional Locations manually. As per the process design all the Functional Location related information (Cost Center, Location, etc...) will be transferred to the Equipment upon this manual installation.
Thus when the user installs the equipment he must proceed through u201Cinstall with data transfersu201D option. But user has the option of not using this and simply installing the equipment (normal tick) leading to inconsistencies of data .
Can we restrict this step by only allowing users to u201CInstall with data transferu201D, suppressing the other option?
Thanks in advance,
thushantha.

You may do this with screen variant option using SHD0 transaction, please search the forum with key SHD0 or screen variants for more details on how to create screen variants and how to use.

  • Restrict Equipment Master (with serial numbers) creation

    Hello All,
I am faced with an issue where the client will be using Serial Numbers for 2 sets of materials. I have assigned a Serial Number profile to these materials in Material Master.
I am able to create equipment master data for these materials with serial numbers without any issue.
However, I am also able to create equipment master data (with serial numbers) for materials to which I have not assigned a Serial Number profile.
Is there a way to restrict the creation of equipment master data (with serial numbers)  to only those material that have a Serial Number profile assigned in material master data...?
    Thanks
    Jensi

    Thanks for the reply Amuthan.
Unlike what you wrote in the reply, the system does allow me to create/save a equipment number for those serial numbers that I assign to materials that do not have a serial number profile.
Is there any validation, any check or something of that sort that I can activate so that the system will prevent assignment of serial numbers (and in turn creation of equipment master data) for those materials which do not have a serial number profile assigned in the material master data?
    Thanks

  • Time Capsule Slow WLAN to internal disk with internet data transfers

    All,
I've been experiencing slow responses from my Time Capsule since I got it. It is one of the newer models with dual band and I have a Macbook Pro and a Macbook connecting to the 802.11n network.
I use the internal disk of the Time Capsule as a NAS and I don't use it for Time Machine backups. It houses software, pictures and music files.
When I'm downloading files from the internet via Safari, or via Transmission (torrents) the wifi throughput of the WLAN slows down from about 5 megabytes per second to just a couple of hundred kilobytes per second.
For my tests I used a 2.2Gb DMG file (a Garageband Jampack) which was housed on the Time Capsule disk.
With Transmission running and downloading two torrents and seeding two torrents (capped upload of 2 kilobytes per second), the transfer of the file from the Time Capsule was 4 hours. I let it run a few hours just to determine that the ETA in Finder was fairly accurate.
With Transmission stopped, the transfer of the same file took 9 minutes.
With Transmission stopped but with Safari downloading a large file (400mb), the local Time Capsule file download to my Mac was again looking at around 4 hours.
It also impacts file uploads to the Time Capsule disk but no where near as badly as with downloads. According to activity monitor, throughput from the Time Capsule disk to my Mac over Wifi is around 200 kilobytes per seconds, writing to the Time Capsule was around 900 kilobytes per second.
Both upload and download speed increases dramatically when no internet based file transfers are taking place.
Now the odd thing. I have a TVIX 6500a media player attached to the Time Capsule via gigabit ethernet. In all the tests I've performed (using the same DMG file) the data transfer rate, both reading and writing to the TVIX has always been solid at nearly 5 megabytes per second.
It is almost like the Time Capsule prefers internet originated traffic over WLAN traffic to its own internal disk, and really throttles this traffic. And it lets traffic originating from other devices on the network through on all cylinders.
I know technically a Time Capsule is designed for Time Machine however I can't see how it would be a viable solution given the bad data rates when downloads are taking place.
Is there any way to get under the hood of a Time Capsule to make some adjustments? I wonder if anyone else has had any experience with this, and what might happen if I plug in a USB disk and use that instead. It is starting to look like I might have to get a decent NAS to connect to the Time Capsule but then it is just a larger heavier Airport Extreme.
    Thanks in advance.

    Mikecad1 -
I dont have any assistance to offer, but have experienced similar problems.
When trying to offload all my music from an external drive to a Time Capsule, it was estimating WEEKS to do it. Even with the HD connected right to the Time Capsule. It's like the WLAN wanted all traffic to go out then come back in before being written.
My solution in that case was to disconnect my laptop from the WLAN, with the drive hooked up to it via USB and then Cat5 to the Time Capsule and do a direct transfer like that. 2 hours instead of weeks.

  • Installation with USI data plugin

    Hi,
I have developed a tool using one of the USI data plugins.  This plugin has it's own MSI installation.  How do I include this in my own installation so it is automatically available to all users who install my tool?  I am using LV8.6.
    Thanks,
    Ian

    Dear Ian
You need to create a batch file that will install the msiexec.exe during installation.
    A) If you are using LabWindows/CVI, try this method:
The Launch After Installation option is only valid for files that
do not need the Windows shell to provide a launch application: .exe
and .bat files. If you want to include a MSI file into
your installer and launch this installer as well, you will need to
install a launcher batch file that take the path to the MSI files
as a command line input and calls msiexec.exe on the
files. You may find the %dest command line variable helpful for
specifying the installed location of the MSI files (see the Edit
Installer Dialog Box - Files Tab help for additional information).
Once you have created a batch file that executes your MSI file,
    you should:
Navigate to the Files tab from the Edit Installer dialog
box. Under "Local Files and Directories", navigate to the location of
    your batch file.
Click the Add File button which will add the batch file to
the location you selected in the "Installation Files and Directories"
    section of that dialog.
Right click on your batch file entry in the "Installation Files and
Directories" section and select File Options.
Select the Launch After Installation option.
    B) If using LabVIEW, try this method:
    Please see this KnowLedgeBase Article:

  • Sync completes with all data transferred, but never completes - just hangs

When I connect my iPhone by USB, iTunes fires up and my Sync seems to kick off without a hitch. Sync in Progress appears on the screen for as many as 4 hours. If I disconnect after 15-20 minutes of syncing, new programs, appointments, and contacts all appear on the iPhone... but it just won't finish the Sync on its own without me canceling it with a swipe of the iPhone screen.
    Any ideas?

I haven't had that happen but from other posts I have read, when there is a hang up of any sort with an Apple product, you usually should reset. Don't know if you have done. There are various ways to reset. I would first try holding down both buttons and wait for it to allow you to power down the Iphone.

  • Equipment master data print out with general data and characterstics

    Hi,
I need to take print out of equipment masters with general data and characterstics for around 300 masters at a time. Could any
body sugget me the best way to take print out
    Regards,
    Srinivas Kasina

I think I have not asked my query properly.
For Maintenance Order, each order print out will be taken separately as a print out by using some template. Do you want the equipment master print out in that manner?
Else you want the details of general tab & characteristics tab as columns like equipment list report?
I hope my question is clear now.

  • Best Practice for SAP PI installation to share Data Base server with other

    Hi All,
We are going for PI three tire installation but now I need some best practice document for PI installation should share Data base with other Non-SAP Application or not. I never see SAP PI install on Data base server which has other Application sharing. I do not know what is best practice but I am sure sharing data base server with other non-sap application doesnu2019t look good means not clean architecture, so I need some SAP document for best practice to get it approve from management. If somebody has any document link please let me know.
    With regards
    Sunil

You should not mix different apps into one database.
If you have a standard database license provided by SAP, then this is not allowed. See these sap notes for details:
    [581312 - Oracle database: licensing restrictions|https://service.sap.com/sap/bc/bsp/spn/sapnotes/index2.htm?numm=581312]
[105047 - Support for Oracle functions in the SAP environment|https://service.sap.com/sap/bc/bsp/spn/sapnotes/index2.htm?numm=105047] -> number 23
          23. External data in the SAP database
Must be covered by an acquired database license (Note 581312).
Permitted for administration tools and monitoring tools.
In addition, we do not recommend to use an SAP database with non-SAP software, since this constellation has considerable disadvantages

  • What can I do simply  to keep all my previous contents, (own pics, videos, etc.) on my previously authorized iPad on PC, but get a new authorisation and a right syncronization, without data loss with a new  iTunes on my new Mac?

    Friends,
I already had an iPad(1) and its full contents (not only the purchased items, applications from Apple, but my all own pics, videos, songs etc.) is normally syncronized with an authorized PC (Windows) computer.
Now,  I've bought a new MacBook Air computer, and want to sell my PC. But I don't know how to transfer (or syncronize) all of the contents from my previous iTunes on PC to the new one on the Mac.
When I connected my iPad to my new MacBook Air, I promted, if I want to change authorization of my iPad to the MacBook.
But also got a warning, that the new iTunes will delete from my iPad all my previously syncronized items, pics, videos and music, with the previously authorized  iTunes on the previous computer, expect the saved pics from the net.
What can I do just like that, simply  to keep all my previous contents on my iPad, but have a new authorisation and a right syncronization, without data loss with the new  iTunes on my new Mac?
Thanks a lot for your answer.

Here are some instructions that I have posted several times that may be helpful to you as they have been to others. You can simply ignore anything that does not apply or that you have already done.
As Alan stated above - transferring the iTunes library is the best first step. If you can transfer the iTunes library to the Mac, most of this will be unecessary for you to do.
    Very Important ....
    1. Authorize the computer.
    2. Turn off auto sync in iTunes
    3. Transfer purchases
The text in italics is from the other thread - non italics are my words.
The following was copied from this thread. This is essentially what you want to accomplish.
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/11527071#11527071
    1) Without connecting your iPad to your new computer, start iTunes. Click on iTunes. Click on Preferences. Click on Devices. Check the box next to "Prevent your iPod etc. from automatically syncing." Click OK.
    2) Now connect your iPad to your computer and start iTunes.
    3) When iTunes starts, right click on your iPad under Devices in the left column. Select Transfer purchases etc.
    4) After it finishes transferring all your apps to your computer, right click on your iPad and select Backup your iPad.
    5) After it finishes backing up your iPad, right click on your iPad and select Restore etc.
    6) After it finishes restoring, left click on your iPad , then click on the Apps tab on top, and check the box next to Sync Apps, then click on Apply below.
If everything on your iPad looks good after the sync, go back and click on iTunes / Preferences / Devices and UN-check the box next to Prevent your iPod etc. The only other thing you may want to check is if your contacts, bookmarks, etc. are syncing correctly now. If not, go to the Info tab after connecting and make sure you indicate which features you want to sync with what sources.
Read this thread and the support links as well. There are apps that you can purchase that will allow you to transfer photos from the iPad to your computer. Look at Photo Transfer App in the App store and you can search for others as well.

This support site will help you with transferring iTunes music to your new computer.

One final note - you may want to leave auto sync turned off - but that is totally up to you. I never did use auto sync.

  • Using expdp to export a mix of tables with data and tables without data

    Hi,
I would like to create a .dmp file using expdp, exporting a set of tables with data and another set without data. Is there a way to do this in a single .dmp file? For example, I want all the tables in a schema with data, but for the fact tables in that schema, I only want the fact table objects, not the data. I thought it might be easier to create two separate .dmp files, one for each scenario, but would be nice to have one .dmp file that satisfies my requirement. Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks,

You could do this with where clauses. Let's say you have 10 tables to export, 5 with data and 5 without data. I would do it like this
    tab1_w_data
    tab2_w_data
    tab3_w_data
    tab4_w_data
    tab5_w_data
    tab1_wo_data
    tab2_wo_data
    tab3_wo_data
    tab4_wo_data
    tab5_wo_data
I would make one generic query
    query="where rownum = 0"
and I would make 5 specific queries
    query=tab1_w_data:"where rownum > 0"
    query=tab2_w_data:"where rownum > 0"
    query=tab3_w_data:"where rownum > 0"
    query=tab4_w_data:"where rownum > 0"
    query=tab5_w_data:"where rownum > 0"
The first query will be applied to all tables that don't have their own specific query and it will export no rows, the next 5 will apply to each of the corresponding table.

This is so our guests cannot tamper or disable the device. We are already using Apple Configurator but their does not seem to be a way to lock down settings without a PIN.

There's a lot of restrictions information in Chapter 19 of the 4.2 User Guide.
