Restricting Safari on iPhone 3GS

I will shortly be acquiring a 4S and therefore will be giving my existing 3GS to my son, he is 8 years of age.
I realise Safari can be restricited in its entirity, this is something I do not want as I would like my son to be able to surf the net but with safe guards in place.
Is there any way I can do this before I give him the iPhone on Friday ?

Mobile Safari on iPhone 3GS automatically resizes images to 1280x800

Hi,
I'm a new iPhone user and thus have had no prior experience. However, I've noticed that when you try to open a large image in Safari running on my iPhone 3GS, it appears to automatically shrink the image to 1280x800.
An example:
http://www.macwallpapers.net/images/wallpapers/Homer%20Simpson%20Apple-600960.jp eg
This image is 2560x1600, yet when I open it on Safari on my iPhone, it registers as a 1280x800 image. Note that it is not just this particular server, but every server I've tried.
Is this normal? Has anyone else noticed this? A few Google and forum searches seem to have not turned up anything.

I am slightly skeptical, since it all happened at once, and all the other browser apps seem to work. Plus, at exactly the same time, I started having app downloading issues.
My son, who has exact same phone, bought at exactly the same time, but without ios5 / cloud download has no issues at all.
This phone version is still being sold, so Apple or whatever caused the issue, should support it still.
Any answers on the horizon to fix this?

Nikeplus on safari using iphone 3gs

Ok I saw on the nikeplus website that you can now use the website on the safari app on the iphone. But when I try to log into my account it doesn't work. it shows you where to type in your email and password lines, but when you type your information the words email and password don't delete. Therefore I am unable to log into my account. Is anyone else having this problem and how can I fix it?

I forgot to say that Settings / General / Restrictions are disabled and Settings > Safari > Clear history, cookies, cache done and the problem is still here...

Partially disabled Safari on my iPhone 3GS

Somehow (I think) I managed to partially disable Safari on my iPhone 3GS. I can browse to any URL, however, after the page loads, I cannot scroll or "click" on any links. Safari and Restrictions settings are OK--not causing the problem. Any other suggestions?

I just synced my iphone 3gs after downloading the Safari upgrade, now my iphone won;'t open any apps except the ones loaded on my phone when I got it.

I just synced my iphone 3gs after downloading the safari update. Now I can't open any apps except the ones that came with the phone. I have tried rebooting, turning it off and on.
When I select the icon, it goes to the page then returns to my screensaver.
It was working well before the update and sync with my Acer netbook. Have never had any problems with itunes store or downloads.

this happened to me with my iPhone 4. I researched the problem and found this :
"The reason this happens is because every time a downloaded app is opened it checks for your itunes password for validation that you are authorized to open that app (as it may contain personal info). From time to time the iphone 'forgets' your itunes password. You can fix the missing password by syncing the iphone with itunes or downloading an app from the app store and entering your password that way.”
And to fix it, all I did was download a new app, or delete a current one, I used Facebook, and re-download it.

While I'm painfully aware of the lack of a version of Adobe Flash Player for the iPhone, more and more Flash-based web home pages are not accessible to the iPhone. I also understand that Flash Player is not compatible with Apple's 'vision' for iPhone Applications. The problem we have is this increasing exclusion of Flash-based web sites and if what I understand about Apple's policy on iPhone Apps is accurate, then we will never have access to these sites on an unmodified iPhone. I can see that one of the problems is that Adobe Flash Player competes with the YouTube Player and possibly with iTunes movies.
Unless the web pages have a link for iPhones or re-direct iPhones accessing those pages to a non-Flash version of the web page, it seems likely that we are basically, well...screwed. Anyone have a different take on this?
Do we need an Apple-Adobe intervention? Perhaps over a nice hot mocha latté in Seattle...

1. iTunes 10 for Mac- Update and restore software on iPod, iPhone, or iPad
2. iPhone, iPad, iPod touch: Wrong passcode results in red disabled screen
3. iOS- Understanding passcodes
     If you have forgotten your Restrictions code, then follow the instructions
     below but DO NOT restore any previous backup. If you do then you will
     simply be restoring the old Restrictions code you have forgotten. This
     same warning applies if you need to restore a clean system.
A Complete Guide to Restore or Recover Your iDevice (if You Forget Your Passcode)
If you need to restore your device or ff you cannot remember the passcode, then you will need to restore your device using the computer with which you last synced it. This allows you to reset your passcode and re-sync the data from the device (or restore from a backup). My Iphone 3gs safari keeps crashing

I bought this Iphone 3gs recently. The seller had jailbroken it and had been using it for with other sim card whereas, it is meant to be for At&T. I know nothing about jailbreak etc. But after much efforts, I was able to restore the phone to work with AT&T Network user H2O wireless. My problem is that Safari, Mail and calander donot work. It opens, stays there for 1-4 seconds and then close back. I have tried to reset all settings from general button. I also clicked home and off button to reset it that way. but it just doesnot work. I was able to install chrome and it works just fine. Please help is there anyway I could get safari, mail and calander back working? Or if there any app that could help override safari so every link opens in chrome as default. I am using IOS 6.1.6 that automatically updated on my Iphone 3gs

That is what happens when you buy a jailbroken phone. If you restore the phone, you will run into all kinds of problems as you have found to your cost.
Because the phone has been jailbroken and you have restored it, then there is probably nothing that you can do.
Ditch the phone and buy a new one, or give it back to the person that you bought it off and get a refund.
Remember that the iPhone 3gs is an old phone now in technology terms and you should perahps consider buying something newer, such as an iPhone 4s instead.
Either this or you keep it and use it as an iPod instead of a phone. Because the phone has been jailbroken, you might just have a useless brick.

How did you unlock your iPhone? If you jailbroke it, that probably caused the problem with Safari.
If not, try restarting or restoring your iPhone.

i have updated my iphone 3GS with ios 6 and initially my wifi worked fine but for some strange reason it stopped connecting to internet even though its connected to my home wifi i have and tried and failed with all the possible solutions given in this forum i am able to use safari with my cellular data network but with wifi its not working please provide me with a solution

well, first check whether you're connected to the blackberry network...
how can I check whether myself connected to blackberry?
Check within the network bars on the phone whether it is showing you 3G, EDGE or GPRS in capital letters...!!
If not give a hard-reset to the phone (remove the battery put it back once)...
And if it shows in caps letters then try requesting for services again... how? on the phone desktop > within the search bar > type "Host Routing Table".... search results shows you as "options"... select that & select host routing table... afterwards, hit the blackberry menu button > select register...

my wife has an Iphone 3gs and has Net10 service but she can't load Safari she had net 10 do a diagnostic on her phone and everything checked out is there a fix to this problem?

After reading a few more posts, I also tried the following:
airplane mode on, power off phone, power on phone, airplane mode off, wifi on
And
airplane mode on, wifi on, restart phone, airplane mode off, wifi on
Still unable to connect to ANY wirless network
