Restricting users by creating other user Account in outlook

Dear Team,
I need to restrict users creating other mailbox account in outlook 2010/2007.
We are using 2003 Exchange Server.
Regards,
RAJ

Hi,
Agree with Ed’s suggestion, creating mailbox is an Exchange level action and we cannot achieve that by Outlook.
If you want to restrict users configuring accounts in Outlook client, I also recommend you ask for more professional help on our Office forum:

If you have any question, please feel free to let me know.
Thanks,

  • Restrict user account, prevent intruder from doing bad things

    Hello,
I am currently planning and setting up a backup-server with ZFS. There will be daily snapshots of the filesystem (cron job).
Different machines connect automatically without a password via ssh (public/private key) and rsync their stuff to the backup server.
Each machine will connect to it's specific user (and therefore to it's own home directory) on the backup server. I thought that if one of the machines gets compromised (e.g. someone gets access to the private key) he only could access one home folder, nothing more. As there are daily snapshots, even it he deletes all files, they will still be there.
Is just adding a normal user per machine enough or should / can be done more to enhance security? As I said the user account is only for logging in and rsyncing stuff to the home directory.
E.g. disabling executing of applications except of rsync? Preventing fork bombs? Making it harder to run exploits? Other stuff I didn't think about?
    Thanks

You might also want to limit those user accounts themselves. If you only use them vor rsyncing, remove them from all unnecessary user groups (the "users" group in particular) and take away their shells.
On top of that, you may want to give each user a chroot jail, so they can't even write to /tmp for example.
I'm not too familliar with rsync yet. If you really need to make your other machines log in and execute rsync themselves over SSH, you might want to take a look at limited shells like lshell to only allow execution of that program.
Great, thank you! This was something I was looking for!
But if I take away the shell completely (e.g. chsh -s /sbin/nologin username), I think I won't be able to rsync via ssh right?
lshell sounds very promissing for my case, I will have a look at it!
edit: I found out that there is also a "--restricted" option for "bash", where one can disable PATH variables, changing directories. I will have a look.

  • I can't create an email account in Outlook 2013 for my exchange server

Have tried many things on this issue.
I have a new tablet PC running Windows 8. I am able to connect to my Exchange Server account using Windows 8 Mail, no problem but when I have tried to set up an account for Outlook 2013 to connect to the same Exchange Server using exactly the same login
information I cannot get it to connect. I simply get the message that the Exchange Server is unavailable.
I've been able to connect a variety of other devices to the same Exchange Server account without any problem - iPhones, Windows Phone, iPads, etc, etc all without problem. It's just this device and Outlook 2013 seems to be the issue. From checking various
forums seems this is not an isolated issue but I've not been able to find a useful solution so far. Have deleted the user profiles and .ost files, switched off caching etc, all to no avail.
One key difference between the account information required by Windows Mail and Outlook is that in the Windows Mail system I am prompted to enter my domain information. I know this is critical from the information provided to me by our network administration
team but there is nowhere in the Outlook account setup process where I can enter my domain info.
Closest I've been able to get to success is to use the manual account creation process and select the Exchange ActiveSync option - this gets me to the point where I'm prompted for my username and password info but it fails at this step because I am connected
to a local domain (the domain account for the PC) and my user name and password are not accepted. There is nowhere in this login process that I can find where I can enter the correct domain info.
Any ideas on a solution would be very much appreciated - I use Outlook extensively in my work and whilst the Windows 8 Mail system is good, it doesn't have the level of functionality I need.
    Many thanks
    Wayne.

Have managed to solve this with your help Martina regarding using the domain\username combination.
Here's the solution in detail in case anyone else is having similar problems.
From control panels - select the User Accounts and Family Safety item, then the Mail (Microsoft Outlook 2013) item and then the Email Accounts option.
Select the Email tab and click 'New... button to create a new email account
Choose the standard Email account option in the following form. (Not the 'Manual' option'
Enter your Exchange account details - no alterations necessary here. just your standard details.
As the account verification proceeds you are prompted to again enter your username and password details. In this form, instead of using the top option with your username already populated, click the lower 'Other user' option and enter your domain\username
details. This changes the domain. Enter your password as usual.
I was prompted to do this twice - same each time. Enter domain\username in the username field and usual password
    Account is then created.
Open Outlook to complete the process and synchronise data with Exchange.
Hope this is helpful to others - again, many thanks for your assistance Martina.
    Wayne.

  • Setup restricted user account.

    Hi,
    First time user with MAC.
I do not own a MAC (YET), as I need to be sure that I can create a solution to the problem I am facing.
If it can be done (By me...) then I will purchase about 4 to start. I found some old ones running 9.2 (I think)
age and speed is not an issue, only disk space and portability as well as being robust!
    the QUESTION!
I can set up a second user on the system as a "limited" user but I must be sure that they will only be able to stay within one folder and not move around to any other part of the system. They will not be able to DELETE or do anything but play the sound files chosen by them that are in front of them.
    Can this be done?
    edit
    Basiclly my problem:
I would like to set up a folder on the MAC with a structure that will enable children to navigate around and select different sound files to play/listen to.
These sound files will be copied from a standard CD rom to the disk.
    I think a structure like...
    Sounds
    CD1 CD2 CD...etc
    sound1 sound1 sound1
    sound2 sound2 sound2
    sound...99 sound...99 sound...99
    Now the issue!
If I give the student free run of the system I know some little angle will delete, move, copy, destory system files.
    I had a play

    HI
You have to encrypt all the folders you won't to be delete or manipulled.
There're a lot of programms to encrypt folders or this one on Mac Aplications folder:
    Steps:
    1.  Open the Applications folder and find the Security folder inside.
    2.  Open the Security folder.
    3.  Open the File menu and choose Open.
    4.  Locate the file you want to encrypt, or its alias.
    5.  Enter a password for the file. Record your password in a safe place. (It is stored in your Keychain by default.)
    6.  Click Encrypt.
    7.  To decrypt the file, double-click it and enter the password for the file.
    8.  Click Decrypt. Your password is removed from Keychain automatically.
    Hope this helps!

  • OTHER POP3 ACCOUNTS USING OUTLOOK

I am so frustrated because I have several business related pop3 email accounts that I use, but with Verizon DSL I have not been able to send and receive through those accounts.
DOES ANYONE know what it takes to set up pop3 accounts thru Verizon/Outlook where they will work?
I have never had problems with other service providers. I feel crippled by not being able to use my various pop3 accounts.

    1. Are you having issues with sending or issues with receiving? These are usually entirely separate issues.
    2. What error are you getting?

  • Can't open AI VIs when logged in as a restricted user

I have a VI that does simultaneuos analog I/O (LabVIEW 6.1, Windows XP). This VI works fine when I am logged in as administrator, but when I try to run this VI from a restricted user account LabVIEW can't find the AI VIs (AI Config, Start, Clear and Read). All AO VIs can be found. I have changed the restricted user's permissions to the National Instruments folder to full control, as described in http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/BB393E7B361E939886256EFD007AC591 but I still can't run my VI.
Does anybody know how to solve this problem?

    Thank you for your answer.
Unfortunately I can't try your solution on the computer where the problem occurred because it is used in another course for the moment and is therefore not available. But I tried to recreate the problem on another computer. I created a restricted account and when logged in on that account I opened my VI and it worked fine... (all subVI:s were found). By default, the restricted account had Read & Execute, List Folder Contents and Read permissions for the MAX folder. So, I then unchecked the Allow-boxes in an attempt to recreate the problem, but the VI still worked on the restricted account. Then I checked the Deny-boxes for the permissions mentioned above, but the VI still worked. Since I couldn't recreate the problem I don't know if your solution is the right one, but at least I can draw the conclusion that it is possible to run my VI from a restricted account.
But I will try your solution on the computer where the problem occurred when it is available and I will let you know whether the problem was solved or not.

  • Force Adobe Shockwave updates to install as a restricted user:

For security purposes I'm investigating what it would take to force Adobe Shockwave Player updates to run under a restricted user account in a corporate environment. I was hoping for a solution similar to Adobe Flash where you could create a scheduled task to run the update as the SYSTEM account but shockwave seems to behave a little differently than Flash.
I've also read that you can enable/disable auto updates by modifying the registry keys "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Macromedia\Shockwave 10\AutoUpdate" and "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Adobe\Shockwave 12\AutoUpdate", however, when I modify these parameters they are not reflected when you right click on the shockwave video player -> select properties -> and then check/uncheck the update options. Am I missing something here?
I have been testing with a somewhat older version of Shockwave to see if it would ever update to the newest version but I can't see where it ever updates. Have others run into this issue? How do you keep shockwave up to date in your corporate environment?

You might want to look at implementing Munki. Munki is mainly intended as a means of distributing both initial Application installs, but also updates for those applications, e.g. Microsoft Office. It can however also automate installing Apple Software Updates. Importantly it does not require the end user to ever enter any administrator details to allow these updates to be installed.
    See https://code.google.com/p/munki/wiki/AppleSoftwareUpdatesWithMunki

  • How to disable Wifi for one user account?

    Hi.
I am setting up very restricted user account in Lion that I want to use on gigs when using Ableton Live 8 on stage.
Basically, my user account should just allow to run Live 8 and nothing else.
Is it possible that the airport get switched off when login into this particular user account?
Thanks in advance for your help

EDIT: If the stuff below seems more complicated than you wish to be involved in, feel free to ignore it.
The Mac will send packets bound for the Internet to the Top-Most ACTIVE interface listed in the left side of the box at:
    System Preferences > Network
If you set the 'Service Order' to have Ethernet at the top, whenever Ethernet is working, Wi-Fi will be ignored.
Set Service order is available using the gear Icon at the bottom of that box.
So all my Internet traffic is going over my Ethernet connection, even though Wi-Fi is still connected and nominally "active".

  • Execute script as restricted user

I'm trying to execute a script that works under an administrator account but not under our student accounts, access is denied. The script changes some keys/values in the registry. I've tried several different options in ConsoleOne and Group Policy, but nothing seems to work, I might be missing something though. Is there anyway to get this to run and change the registry under a restricted user account? We are running Windows XP at the moment on our machines. I would greatly appreciate any help and getting this to work. If you need anymore information I'll be glad to provide. Thanks.

Simply set it to run as secure or unsecure sytem user.

  • Restrict ability to create Connections

    Hi there,
I have a requirement to restrict developer access to creating locations within OWB 10.2.
Is it possible to lock down the ability to create various objects within OWB specifically locations?
The reason forf this is that we will have three separate repositories (dev/qa/prod) and code will be promoted accordingly between these. Developers know the connection details for both dev and qa and there is potentially the ability to create a location in dev that points at the qa target without merging the code into qa - I want to ensure that this cannot happen.
Can anyone educate me or do you have any suggestions as to how I can work around this? How else have other sites handled the dev / qa / prod code lifecycle and security? Any help is greatly appreciated ;-)

I have a similar issue with 10.2. Except I want to restrict access for creating other objects too (locations, projects, modules, etc) depending on the person logged in.
The OWB 9.2 user guide had a long section on customing the security using WBSecurityServiceImpl. But it doesn't appear in the 10.2 documentation. I am not sure if this functionality has been dropped from 10.2. If it hasn't been, it certainly doesn't seem to be very well documented.
Here is a sample script from the OWB Sample Code site for OWB 9.2 (no idea if this would work with 10.2):
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/sample_code/products/warehouse/files/Dev_Status_Policy.SQL
In 10.2, if you go to <owb_home>\owb\reposasst on your PC, I believe you will see the default script used to define WBSecurityServiceImpl with the repository assistant with some comments. Just be sure not to modify any files in that directory.

  • Files in other user account are restricted to admin account...

    Hi everyone.
2 weeks ago, I've created a user account for my wife on my Mac Mini for iphone syncing purposes. My account is admin and hers is standard. Everything works great except restricted access to files.
Besides regular Time Machine backups, I manually back up the iTunes, Address Book and iCal files on an external drive.
Files on my user "side" are no problem, but when I try to access the files from Macintosh HD/Users/Wife path, I get all these folders with a small red "No Entry" sign just like the traffic one.
I click "Get Info" and see that only my wife's user acc has "Read and Write", everyone is marked as "No access" and I'm not even there.
Funny thing is, system asks for my permission to do the changes, but I'm not listed.
What I do so far is to click "Get Info", go to permissions, unlock (a window pops up with my name as admin and I have to enter my main pass), add my name to the permitted users list, change it from "Read Only" to "Read & Write".
Repeating these steps for each folder is becoming a bore. Can anyone give me a shortcut where I can have access to all files on any user account?

    Kappy,
I think you've misunderstood my point. My wife has her own netbook and uses my PC at home just for syncing her phone. Reason is I'm the able one with computing related issues and she is distant to Mac.
I created the user account for her, but she is the one who insisted on not having admin privileges as she wanted to avoid changing sth irreversibly by mistake.
I log into her account for backup, but spend a lot of time moving media files from my locations to her itunes folders. That's when I need access to those restricted folders.
Security in our household is not an issue as my trustworthiness is a BIG yes-yes.
Now, apart from your guidance on moral issues and appropriate log-in 101, thank you for your clarification.
    Regards

  • Can i use a 2nd iphone if i install itunes on another user account.when i tried to create a second library i messed up both phones, the second one now has all my contacts and when it sends txts it either says its my other phone or email address

can i use a 2nd iphone if i install itunes on another user account.when i tried to create a second library i messed up both phones, the second one now has all my contacts and when it sends txts it either says its my other phone or email address. i can cope with the first phone and getting it back on itunes but dont want to syn the 2nd phone until i know it is independant of the other one. Does it matter that both phones use the same itunes store account?

Deleting the account on your phone only removes if from your phone.  The account and it's data remain intact and doing so will not effect your daughter's phone.
To do this, first go to Settings>iCloud on your phone and turn any synced data (contacts, calendars, etc.) to Off, and when prompted, choose to keep the data on the phone.  When finished, scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account.  Then set up a new iCloud account with a different Apple ID and turn any data you want to sync with iCloud (contact, calendars, etc.) back to On.  This will upload your data to your new iCloud account.

  • The account application created using can see current Blank Site page but no other user account see current page only some old page?

    Hello Community
Using Sharepoint 2010 Server and the UI, building an intranet
starting with a Blank Site and then adding subsites can be accomplished.
However, in this case the current Blank Site page that was created only shows
when logged in using the account that the application was created under.
Any other account used to login with when the url is typed into the
address bar does not show the current Blank Site page.
Instead when using any other account the page that is returned is
some page that was created early in in the creation of the site.
A Blank site is said to be:
"A blank site for you to customize based on your requirements."
I checked-in the v4.master and approved it but the problem still exists.
Then I checked the Site Collection features under Site Collection
    Administration "Active" contains:
        Sharepoint Server Publishing Infrastucture
Sharepoint Server Standard Site Collection features
Then I checked under Site Actions has Manage Site features "Active"
    contains:
        Sharepoint Server Publishing
        Sharepoint server Standard Site features
It is said that maybe the page needs to be "Published".  Basically
this is a Blank Site page so when the instructions says:
"To publish a page, on the page that you are editing, on the
    Page Editing toolbar, click Publish."
I am unable to do it because when I:
           "Edit Page"
There is not no option on the ribbon to choose "Publish".
Neither did I see the "Publish"option when editing the v4.master in SPD.
In summary, when logged in with the account that everything was created
under I can see the current Blank Site with the Lists and everthing else
on the page but how come when I login with any other user account
I don't see the current Blank Site page but instead see some old page that
I may have created earlier when creating the application?
        Thank you
        Shabeaut

    Hello Community
I think it is worth mentioning that the Top Link Bar shows what appears
on the current Blank Site page but it is the OOTB NoteBoard  and Discussion Board
List which both reside in Left web part on the Blank Site page that has been replaced
on the page by what had been in an old Content Editor web part during early creation.
How can I grant permissions to the OOTB NoteBoard and the Discussion Board List
that would allow other user accounts to see them, thus making the entire current Blank Site page
    visible other user accounts?
        Thank you
        Shabeaut

  • What exactly happens to my apps and settings when i create a new user account, and delete all the other user accounts?

Such apps and settings that apply to icloud, appstore, and itunes. I know the apps will still be in the new account and any other purchased apps will be in the appstore for re-download. But what will happen I delete user accounts and choose not to save any folders or files of the soon to be deleted user accound? I don't have a disk to do a clean install and I'm trying to give my super old macbook pro to a friend and I want to make sure the laptop is his and everything of mine is gone. Will erasing free space do that trick?

If it is not installed in HD>Applications folder and installed in a user account then it's gone with the user account. It's that simple.
