Restrictions in characters used for customer numbers

Is it advisable to use the charcter "&" in customer numbers and in business partner naming?

Dear Chandramouli,
In the name you can use but in the no. not advisable. When you are defining the no range, it is as following:
Intervals can only contain either letters or numbers, as sorting can differ between platforms (Code page):
Allowed: 000001 to 999999
AAAAAA to ZZZZZZ
Not allowed: AAAAAA to 999999
Please find the SAP help on this.

  • Automatic payment program use for Customer doc's

I can understand how APP will pay off vendor docs automatically but i know its used for customer documents also... i can't understand the logic of using a payment program on Customer docs.>?? can any expert give me a reason why????
i know its used for making some payment notices or some sort of a list of customer's from whom payment is due.. is this correct... please clarify thanks
Secondly with dunning.. again, this is used to fig who owe's me money and for how long but is dunning used with Vendor's accounts as well, If yes, whats the logic and what doc are created for that. .thanks

    Hi Benson,
Yes APP is used for customers as well. Suppose you have your customer had made you down payement and you are not able to deliver the goods for anty reason. In this case you have to pay your customer back. So you can use APP for that. This is only one of  business conditions.
Yes in case of Vendors you can also do dunning. The reasons can be many. Like you have made a down payment to the vendor for particular rawmaterail but your vendor had not yet delivered the goods. So in that case you can dunn the vendor.
    Hope it makes you clear.

  • SP2013 - What better to use for custom webservice creation, which will be save filled in Infopath form to sharepoint library

Client use SharePoint 2013. I have to develop a custom webservice for this SharePoint. Webservice will receive some information as request, will fill in a InfoPath form (on based existing infopath template from library) with this information and save result
    to SharePoint library.
Could advice how it right  organize? What is better to use for custom webservice in SharePoint 2013 (REST api or something else), how better fill in and save infopath form to library?
    thanks

    Hi,
In SharePoint 2013, you can still reference the way what it used to be in SharePoint 2010 or previous version.
The two demos would also work in SharePoint 2013:
    http://blogs.msdn.com/b/jannemattila/archive/2007/01/21/infopath-and-web-service-data-connection.aspx
    http://wmostafaw.wordpress.com/2012/08/07/calling-web-service-from-infopath-2010-with-parameters/
If the customer just want an interactive form for easy input, there are also other options in SharePoint 2013 like:
    Customization on the default form pages of a list using JavaScript Client Object Model;
Create a SharePoint App which will enable you implement more complex requirements with Client Object Model and REST API, you can even upload it to the App store to share it with
    other people.

  • ACE Error - NCOALink Parameter Error, Customer ID already used for customer

ACE Error - NCOALink Parameter Error, Customer ID already used for customer "[customer name]", list "[list name]"
Received this error and not sure if its due to the Customer/List ID & List Name combination or some thing else.  Any ideas?
Also, is there a document that explains ACE errors.
    Thank you!

    Greetings cbeaure,
For something like this I normally suggest logging an incident with Support at service.sap.com .
However I thought it might be heplful to answer your questions and provide you with the example you would have located by using the Knowledgebase search when logging the issue with the Support team.
During the process of logging an issue to Support on the SAP Service Marketplace, you would be prompted for a search in the Knowledgebase. By entering in the error you received, you would have seen the following:
    Cause:
This error will occur when either the List Name or Company Name was changed, but the PAF ID (specifically the Customer\List ID) has not changed.
    Resolution:
The software has verification in place that requires a unique NCOALink PAF ID for the combined parts of the List Name and Company Name. This meets the Licensee's requirement, as described by the USPS in the Limited Service Provider and Full Service Provider Performance Requirements:
"Licensee will assign each NCOALink customer file, list, or database a unique NCOALink PAF ID. This ID will be used by the software to verify that the customer has a valid, active PAF on file with Licensee. This ID will also be used to provide a relationship between Licensee's service log and PAF information files. The format of the ID will be an eighteen character alphanumeric field consisting of four sub-parts.  The Licensee will ensure that each of their customers has a unique and never duplicated PAF ID. The software must not allow duplicate IDs. The ID shall be assigned by Licensee upon execution of the Processing Acknowledgement Form and be used throughout the system as prescribed."

  • What's use for Customer Hierarchy

    Dear Guru
What's use for Customer Hierarchy? give me a step to config?
    regards
    Mohammed Renu.I

    Hi Mohammed Renu,
    CUSTOMER HIERARCHY:
Customer hierarchies are available in Sales and Distribution, so that you can create flexible hierarchies to reflect the structure of customer organizations. If your customer base includes multi-level buying groups, cooperatives, or chains of retail outlets, for example, you can create hierarchies to reflect the structure of these groups. Use customer hierarchies during sales order processing and billing for determining pricing and running statistics.
 A customer hierarchy consists of nodes.
 To create a customer hierarchy:
    1. Create master records for each node.
    2. Assign the nodes to each other.
    3. Assign the customer master records to the relevant nodes.
 Hierarchy nodes are only valid for a certain period of time. They may also be moved. If a node is moved, the system automatically reassigns all related nodes and customer master records.
With customer hierarchies, you can assign price or rebate agreements to a higher level node. The agreements are then valid for customer’s at all subordinate levels to this node. You can create pricing condition records for each node indicated as relevant for pricing. If one or more nodes in the hierarchy path of a sales order contain pricing information, the system takes them into account automatically during pricing.
    'How to check'
All the customizing is in SD/Master Data/Business Partner/Customers/Customers hierarchy
All the customizing is in SD/Master Data/Business Partner/Customers/Customers hierarchy
    1) Define hierarchy type: just put and ID and a name to the new hierarchy.
    2) Set partner determination: if you want to user the hierarchy in price determination, then, in the orders, at the header level, you have to have a Partner Procedure with a partner function for each level. In the partner procedure, in each partner function you must indicate the source partner function. With this information, in the order, you obtain the business partner for each partner function.
    3) Assign account groups: you indicate which accounts groups are allowed for being part or your hierarchy.
    4) Assign sales areas: simple you indicate which sales areas are allowed in your hierarchy. (Here you can customize common sales areas, just for not having to build de hierarchy in all the different sales areas).
    5) Assigning hierarchy type for pricing: you indicate which classes of documents uses hierarchy in pricing determination.
It is possible to maintain so called customer hierarchies. This might be useful when for example you create a condition discount for a customer that is part of such a hierarchy structure. All subnodes in the hierarchy below that customer, will thus receive the same discount.
Customer hierarchy setup, firstly decide the hierarchy type to be used.
    The standard is type A.
You can also assign a partner function to the customer so that the higher level customer in the hierarchy is copied into a sales order as a partner function - but you don't need that right?
Next assign your customer account group to the hierarchy type. And enter the combinations that will be allowed for creating the hierarchy.
You want to assign a ship-to to a payer. So enter the ship to account group and enter the payer account group as the higher level.
You must also make an entry for permitted sales area assignments. So if you want to a hierarchy for customers in the same sales area then enter the sales area and enter the same one as the higher level sales area.
All these settings can be found in the IMG. Under SD - master data - business partners - customers - customer hierarchy
You use for example customer hierarchy when you have an company like Unilever and you agree both on a discount. Unilever does have different locations / businesses and you have to maintain the discount for all customers. If you use a customer hierarchy you can maintain the discount for the partner in the top of the hierarchy and in this way it will be valid for all customers in the hierarchy.

  • Restrict Sales Order Creation for Serial Numbers already in Sles Order/Sold

We have recently implemented variant configuration and usage of serial numbers.
Facing some problems because of this.
    1. If a Material is in Stock e.g Material xyz and serial number 123
System allows us to create sales order and Deliver and Invoice Serial number 124.
I have activated Indicator: Serial Number Existence Requirement thru OIS2. However it solves only part of my problem.
If for Material xyz serial number 123 is in stock but serial number 124 has also been created and assigned to material xyz but not in stock, then system allows me to create sales order, delivery and billing for material xyz and serial number 124.
When I check MMBE I see zero stock when I click on serial number I see serial 123, which is inconsistent.
How to ensure that such a situation does not happen?
Also I do not want the system to create a sales order for a material for which sales order has been created.
e.g. for material xyz and serial 1234 if sales order exists then system should not allow creation of another sales order for the same combination.
However in case of consignment orders the system should allow only the logical transactions like consignment fill up or consignment returns.
    Please help.

  • Is there a FM imbedded link used for phone numbers that in a pdf file activates the number on a smart phone?

When I use the URL hypertext function and type in mailto:<email address> and save it as a pdf. When bringing the pdf up in a smart phone and tapping on the link, it will bring up email to that person. Is there a FrameMaker version that also does this for a phone number and what is the text that needs to be typed in? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!!!

What happens when you use Marker Type: [Hypertext]
    and a URI of form:
    message URL tel:1234567890
In a quick test, this survives to PDF as hypertext, gets handed to my default browser, which (being a desktop machine) throws a dialog saying, in effect "Just what am I supposed to do with this? I'm not a phone you know." My phone, on the other hand has two PDF readers (Kindle and some shovelware office ap), neither of which appear to even notice the URL (which I take to be not FM's fault).
The hand-off to email is not something that FM (or Acrobat) does per se. As far as I know PDF readers merely hand the URI to the host operating system. If the host knows what a "tel:" scheme name is supposed to do, it gets done. For a more or less complete list of scheme names, see the wiki page.
Be sure to use fully qualified international dialing numbers.
And be sure to avoid mistake 0 of FM hypertext markers: in addition to inserting the marker, it has to be within the scope of a unique Character Format applied to the text string to be made active. This tag doesn't even have to apply any visible effects, but it does have to be there, as it's how FM determines the boundaries of the hyper region. A Character Format set to Family:Default ¶ Format (and all else blank or As-Is), named "URI", would suffice.

  • Refined query for customized numbering

    Hi,
Below is the query that used to generate a customized number for service call
It was set to auto generate when user select the customer code.
The number will increment only if the service call is created.
Before it has no issue  if one user create a service call at one time.
However, I found a issue when A user open a service call and number was generated (ABC0001), user haven't create the service call.
At the meantime, B user also opening a service call and number was generated (ABC001), B user  created the service call, following by A user.
So when I run a report, there will be two ABC001.
So wonder is this issue due to query or some other setting ?
    Declare @fmt_num as Integer
    Select @fmt_num=count(OSCL.CallID) from OSCL
    SELECT 'ABC'+ replace(str((@fmt_num)+1,7,0),' ',0)
    Thanks

    Hi,
    1. Create header UDF
    2. Assign your query to get customized number ( ABC0000005)
    3. There is no message if two users are open service and update.
    Thanks & Regards,

  • What is best UI technology to use for custom business package

    Hi,
I have a requirement to develop a custom Business Package for Treasury in Finance. With my past experience I am leaning towards Web Dynpro for Java.
Client does not have any programming language consideration.
Is there any body who has done something like this ? Can some expert suggest me if my choice of Web Dynpro might not be good and why?

    Hi,
If you don't have complex business logics and lot of portal runtime interaction then webDynpro is the best choice considering the ease of development and look and feel.
But your answer to the question is yes then you can think of java iView development along with webDynpro.

  • How to use 0vtc in production although prod. isn't allowed for customizing

    Hi,
I have created some routes and want to add transportation service agent datas into these routes by using 0vtc transaction code. But in the client that we are using for customizing we don't have and don't create the service agent master data and we can't customize 0vtc in production as customizing is not allowed in that client.
I need to learn how to use 0vtc in production client although production is not allowed for customizing.
    Thanks beforehand.
    Nuran.

    Hi,
Are you trying to do configuration in Production system?
Production systems are locked for configuration, you can not do any configuration in prodcution client other than some manual configurations. Your T code 0VTC is not a manual configuration so you can not do it production. And ruotes are defined as master data, use LSMW to upload the route data in prodcution. Ask your Basis team for authorization to do the same.

  • UOM Conversion changes where conversion is only used for reporting

I think this is a different situation than I've seen in other posts.
We have a UOM conversion from CS to POUND (i.e. 1 case = 30 pounds), and at some point may want to change it so that 1 case = 28 pounds. In our situation, all transactions are done at the CS (primary UOM) and the weight is only used in calculations to print on shipping documents. Is there any harm in just changing the 30 to 28 when that time comes? Again, there are no transactions that reference the weight, no PO's, no SO's, no financials, etc.
We also have a similar situation where a PALLET may contain 100 cases now, but in the future be reconfigured to contain 90 cases. Same idea, nothing is transacted in Pallets, and the conversion is only used in reporting. Seems like it would be OK to change that conversion without causing problems. Any thoughts?
    Thanks for your insights!
    Bill
    (Running r12.1.3 with OPM)

I think this is low risk - just make absolutely sure that the uom was not used for customer pricing, internal pricing, boms, on ASL, on price breaks, on quotes, on POs, on material transactions, wip moves etc.
As long as it was truly used just for reporting, you should be ok.

  • Entering MultiByte characters using OA Extension JDev forms

    Hello
We have certain custom OA extension JDev forms running on Oracle Applications 11.5.10/ 10g database. Recently we converted our db to be utf8 compliant. While I can querry chineses characters through the custom JDev forms, when I try to enter chinese characters using the custom forms, it stores it as Junk. In the preference I did set the Client Character Encoding to UTF-8, but that did not help. Any clues as to how to get this working would be appreciated.
    Thanks
    PHK

When you say it stores junk, you see the junk characters from back end or on the OA page on further retrieval of the same value?
