Retrieve partitioned data in Oracle 8i.
I have the following query.
I want it to retrieve data for 24 months (2 years)
I have to run the query for 24 partitions each partition having one month data,
this query is working on one month data only 200705.
abc>SELECT r.account_id,
2 p.presc_num,
3 spm.product_id,
4 p.month,
5 t.best_call_state,
6 sum(p.trx_count)
7 FROM rlup_assigned_account r,
8 temp_presc_num_TEST t,
9 retail.prescrip_retail partition (PRESC200705) p,
10 sherlock.sherlock_product_mapping spm
11 WHERE spm.product_id like '056%'
12 and t.CLIENT_ID='934759'
13 and spm.mds6 = p.product_id
14 and t.CLIENT_ID = p.presc_num
15 and r.ndc_pyr_id = p.payer_plan
16 and t.best_call_state = r.ST
17 GROUP BY r.account_id,
18 p.presc_num,
19 spm.product_id,
20 p.month,
21 t.best_call_state
22 ;
ACCOUNT_ID PRESC_NUM PRODU MONTH BE SUM(P.TRX_COUNT)
2131 4759 0512 01-MAY-07 1
2131 7599 0567 01-MAY-07 3
2131 9359 0601 01-MAY-07 4
If I access partition data, I do not see any partition created in the schema:
connected to abc schema:
SQL> SELECT table_name,
2 partition_name,
3 high_value,
4 num_rows
5 FROM user_tab_partitions
6 ;
no rows selected
Q1. How do I know what are those 24 partions (apart from using user_tab_partitions),
Q2 How do I use them in the query specified above to retrieve 24 month data from 24 partitions.
... and in answer to question 2, don't specify a partition clause. In fact I would avoid using the partition clause at all and filter on the appropriate month - let the optimizer do the work.

HY000 error retrieving CLOB-data from oracle database via ODBC
Hello,
I get error HY000 [Oracle][ODBC][ORA] ORA-00932: inconsistent datatype when I want to show a CLOB column in my crystal report. The type of the field in the report is memo - in the database it is CLOB.
How to retrieve CLOB-data from an Oracle 11GR2 database via ODBC in Crystal Report Version 12.3.0.601?
Thanks in advance for any help.

Retrieve the data from Oracle (Superior difficult)
Dear all,
I want to retrieve the data from the table (TABLE A), in TABLE A there are a field call RANGEFROM, However, the data type of it is "VARCHAR2". But in this field, it can contain numeric and date. Now, I want to select this field in it by a SQL statement. I want the SQL statement like this:
"SELECT * FROM TABLE_A WHERE (to_date(RANGEFROM, 'mm-dd-yyyy')) <= 'Now()';"
However, the result of the SQL only display in VARCHAR2 mode. That mean it can't compare the result. so What can I do?
Thanks
nullAs long as the input literal for formatting the date is in always like 'mm/dd/yyyy' then you may explicitly select the RANGEFROM field in your select list as to_date(RANGEFROM,'mm/dd/yyyy');
eg:
SQL> select to_date('01122000','mm/dd/yyyy') RANGEFROM from dual;
RANGEFROM
12-JAN-00
Also this is now good for comparison:
SQL> select SYSDATE - to_date('01122000','mm/dd/yyyy') from dual;
SYSDATE-TO_DATE('01122000','MM/DD/YYYY')
339.67455
Also the same technique could be applied in your where condition as well.
Good luck :
(12 month wait for a response is not good) -

Using eclipse Web services to retrieve and update data to Oracle DB
Hi,
Can I have a sample about to use eclipse to retrieve/update data from Oracle DB by using axis web services?
thank youHi,
If you have a sheet in Excel with data from a SharePoint Online list you can switch to the PowerPivot ribbon and ask to add it to the model. This will allow you to reference this table when you create a PowerView report.
This workbook, with the Odata feed can then be refreshed via the scheduled refresh feature of Power BI Site.
Insert the data using the Odata feed
The Odata URL will be something like:
https://MyCompany.sharepoint.com/MySite/MySubSite/_vti_bin/listdata.svc/MyList
If you are not sure what is the list name, you can drop just browse to
https://MyCompany.sharepoint.com/MySite/MySubSite/_vti_bin/listdata.svc and this will provide a list of all the lists in that site/sub-site.
Once you have those in the model and you setup scheduled refresh, it will refresh the lists directly from SPO (using the owner identity)
Hope this helps.

Help ! Cannot retrieve Object table data from Oracle 8i
Dear All,
Created the object and object table in SQL*Plus. If query from SQL*Plus, return rows selected.
But if query from SQL*Plus worksheet and ODBC Test program, return "0 rows selected".
Similary, if created the object and object table in SQL*Plus worksheet and query from SQL*Plus worksheet, return rows selected.
But if query from SQL*Plus or ODBC Test program, return "0 rows selected".
Appreciate advice from anyone. Thanks in advance.
Oracle version. 8i Enterprise Edition Release 2
Scrip to create object and insert record:
CREATE TYPE stockitem_objtyp AS OBJECT (
STOCKNO NUMBER,
PRICE NUMBER,
TAXRATE NUMBER
CREATE TABLE stock_objtab of stockitem_objtyp (stockno primary key) object id primary key;
INSERT INTO Stock_objtab VALUES (1, 1000, 3);
select * from stock_objtab;
nullFirst, I suspect that this question probably belongs on the ODBC forum, since it doesn't appear to be at all related to the JVM.
That said, I don't seem to have any problem retrieving the data, either through ODBC or SQL*Plus. If you post your question to the ODBC forum, perhaps some other folks will be able to try this and we can narrow down the problem.

Retrieve specific range data from oracle table
Hi, Dear friends,
I want to retrieve all the data from oracle table and then save them to mysql table using JDBC ResultSet. The problem is that some oracle table is too big, if I retrieve all of them to memory at a once time using excuteQuery, the program will become no response out of memory limitation. So my question is if I can retrieve just specific range data once a time. I can¡¯t find this function through JDBC API. Also, I don¡¯t want to use the specific sql sentence, for example ¡°select ¡ from¡ where someid>¡ and someid<¡¡±, because there are many different tables, I want to transfer them automatically. So I can¡¯t construct such sql sentence in advance. Does anyone know if oracle JDBC driver provide such kind of function or does there any other way?
Any suggestion will be greatly appreciated!
SammyDear Justin,
thank you so much for your prompt reply!
as your suggestion, I do check the performance while my program is running, after the program become nearly no response, I found the memory usage is nearly 100%, while disk usage and process usage is pretty low. that's the reason why I guess maybe the memory limitation, but the strange thing is that no any error reported by JBuilder, it just nearly no response and don't transfer any data any more. my os is windows xp, the version of JBuilder is 7. my main memory is 768M. just as you said, the total 6,000 records in not very large, just no more than 400K. another strange thing is that why my program works well when there is little data records in the table.
the big picture of my program is first I retrieve oracle table metadata, according to this information, I construct DDL sql words and then create the corresponding table in mysql database. this part works well. in order to save your time, I will not paste the code here. then there is a method to transfer oracle data to mysql table, whenever creating the mysql table, then I will call this method to transfer datat to it. the following is the code of this method, I am very sorry to take your time. please read it when you are available.
thank you very much!!
Sammy

I encountered the following problem with a JWeb Application:
I tried to write a JWeb-Application for OAS 4.0, that retrieves

How to retrieve the data type of a column of a table?
Hi,
I want to retrieve the data type of a column of a table. At the moment I am querying "OCI_ATTR_DATA_TYPE" attribute but it is returning SQLT_CHR for both varchar2 and nvarchar2 data type columns. I need to distinguish between these two data types columns separately. Is there any API through which I could get the exact data type of a column i.e. "nvarchar2"?
Thanks in advance.
HashimHi,
This is the Oracle C++ Call Interface (OCCI) forum - I'm not sure if you are using OCCI or OCI (Oracle Call Interface - the C interface) since you reference "OCI_ATTR_DATA_TYPE" which is more of an OCI focus than OCCI.
In any case, you might take a look at "OCI_ATTR_CHARSET_FORM" which takes the following values:
#define SQLCS_IMPLICIT 1 /* for CHAR, VARCHAR2, CLOB w/o a specified set */
#define SQLCS_NCHAR 2 /* for NCHAR, NCHAR VARYING, NCLOB */So, if you have a datatype of SQLT_CHR and OCI_ATTR_CHARSET_FORM is SQLCS_IMPLICIT then you have a varchar2 if it is SQLCS_NCHAR then you have an nvarchar2.
If you are using OCCI and not OCI then take a look at MetaData::ATTR_DATA_TYPE and MetaData::ATTR_CHARSET_FORM which expose OCI_ATTR_DATA_TYPE and OCI_ATTR_CHARSET_FORM respectively.
Perhaps that will get you what you want.

Mark
