Retrieving all options in a list box

I am very new to JSP, though I've done a little with ASP before. I have a page in which users can add and/or delete text concerning levels of discussion. They can also move them up and down to place them between two other levels by using one of two buttons. When the user is done with the form, I then need to update the database table which these levels are in. This is the part I am having trouble figuring out. How do I retrieve all of the items in the list (select with multiple lines) in the order they placed them? Is it just a simple request.getParameter or would this just give me the item that was selected last?

I think you'll have to create a "hidden" form variable
(like <input type="hidden" id="allList" />)
and upon form submission, do some javascript to append all the list's values to that variable, with a separator between each value (I would recommend the tab character (\t)).
Then when the form is submitted, your request.getParameter("allList") will contain a long string containing all the values, tab-separated, that you can use StringTokenizer on to get each individual value. Make sense?

Trying to retrieve the editValue of a list box selection with multiple selections

I have a requirement to display the text and the value of a multiple choice list box but as soon as there are multiple selections the value displayed is the rawValue.
My code is something like this:
verifSubTaskDescID.addItem(this.editValue);
verifSubTaskDesc.addItem(this.rawValue);
When "this" which is a list box with ["a","first"],["b","second"] is set to a or b it works perfectly, displaying "a" in the ID and "first" in the Desc as follows:
a          first
OR
b          second
but when I select both this list looks like this:
first          first
second     second
Any ideas on how to preserve the letters without making the code too complex or hard to maintain??

Hi,
you can use a for loop to get all selected values from a choice list.
This could look like this.
This sample script goes to the exie event of the choice list.
It refers to the dataNode which holds the multiple values.
The for loop the then extracts the selected values and their associated display items.

Buy all option in Wish Lists not there

I checked the Apple's website and it states in Wish Lists there is a buy all option. I don't have that option? Anyone else have this problem and know of a fix?

sabfa, if you are in Canada, for some reason Apple does not have that option for you. It is noted on the 3rd line from the bottom here

I don't need a rant about how this is unfair to Canadians. I have no idea why it is so. Just pointing out that it is. And if you're not in Canada, I don't know why you don't have that Buy All button.

SharePoint: Workflow to retrieve all users and Create list item record for each user

My share point site have two Lists as Holidays and MyCalender.
Actually Holiday is simple non-Calender list with field as Holiday Date, Reason. MyCalender List Calender type list with Person Look-up column and user can see his own record. User of Manager group will declare holiday. This Holiday should get reflected
on each user 's MyCalender List.[One listitem as holiday date and reason for each user] so everyone can view that record.
I have requirement as Manager will create one Holiday record and then run single workflow so for all users present in SharePoint Site, one MyCalender List Item record should get created. Is it possible to do using Workflow?? Please help as I didn't get any

You don't need one workflow per user when a filtered view can do this for you. If the manager's list is the parent calendar, I'm assuming that he'll be at least using the person look-up column.
Whether this feeds through the MyCalendar or stays where it is, you can use the [Me] parameter within the filter on a new view. This will then return the assigned holiday filtering against the account that is logged in.

Dynamic retrieval in list boxes using JSP

Dear All,
I have a list box in a form which is created by extracting data from oracle database. There are approximately 26000 records which are added dynamically in the list box. There are five rows in the form and each row has to have a list box with all records. Now if i retrieve all records for all list boxes, the page takes high time to load. I also tried using String array to read once and write them using loops in list box. But even then the loading time is quiet high. Is there some better way so that the page loads fast enough. I am using Oracle Database and the table is indexed.

Well, it's big enough to make any page slow... but you can try to load all the list boxes in the client side with javascript.
i make that usually, create a javascript strings array and on the "onLoad" event fill all the list boxes with the values in that array.
but anyway is too much data.

my problem is when i change the option in the list box, the particular modify group ie, the screen is getting changed only after i press enter, So please suggest me how i can change the screen without pressing enter.

without using VRM_SET_VALUES...you just create one data element by going se11....create one domain for it...now give the values in the "value range" tab....and at the time of declaration just write ..
PARAMETERS var1 TYPE <your created data element>
                    AS LISTBOX VISIBLE LENGTH 20
                    USER-COMMAND onli
                    DEFAULT <one value>.
You will get the same effect as list box....and make it mandatory..

Displaying list box field in PDF

I have exported to an interactive PDF which contains radio buttons, text fields, combo boxes and list boxes. This form is to be viewed on an iPhone 5 in Adobe Reader. All the form objects work except for the combo/list boxes. They appear and a selection can be made but the selection is not displayed in the box. I have tried to enlarge the box, thinking it was too small to display the text.
I have tested it on an Ipad 3 and an android phone and it doesnt work but it does work on a desktop. The reader app is up-to-date on all devices. This is how it displays (sorry about the quality). The option within the list box are "nothing" ie space, Y and N. Before a selection is made the arrow is displayed but after a selection is made the box is blank.
Can someone please tell me if there is a compatibility issue or a work around for this problem.

One more thing: There is a workaround for those who own Acrobat for Windows or Mac. You should be able to open forms with this problem in Acrobat, modify the default values in these fields, return the default values in those fields to their desired state and then resave the document from Acrobat (windows or mac). This forces Acrobat to save the fields in a way that the mobile Readers can properly display and edit. While we absolutely should fix the bug to properly display fields created by InDesign, this workaround may be useful for others so I am posting it here.

Well the following is my data base structure or table .

Let me put my questions in a very much briefed manner.
first my database name is zybilltyp
consist of the fillowing fields

in the zbilltyp i have value range ie. 1) EB -Electricity 2) TB Telephone And Finally 3) In -Insurance
In Module Pool Screen i am having these three value to be appended into the listbox named -zbilltyp
My difficulty is that based upon the value choosed in the first listbox dynamically the value of the second listbox should change.
For instance in first listbox i have choosen Telephone Bill. Then in the second list box it should display all the telephone related companies names But these values should not be in from the database we have to manually hardcode the value.
In the second listbox it should display like this
Airtel
BSNL
Vodafone
Like this.
Please suggest some points regarding this. it Will be a great favour for us.

Condition :
1) If bill type is PB for telephone bill then the corporation list box should show telephone conpanies names like Airtel or bsnl etc .

Retaining List Box Value in Form Bean

Hi All,
I want to retain the List Box populated using the Form bean.
Right now when i display the List Box in a page and submit the Form and come back
to same page again I do not get List Box populated.
In the JPF I do not get the all values of the List Box. I only get the selected
value of the ListBox.

How to set multi select by script to a list box.

Hi All,
I have a list box with multiple select on the form with list (Say A,B,C,D,E,F,G ..)
When I select A,C,E ans say this.RawValue I get A,C,E separated by carrage returns.
When i submit the form in my Fm I get A#C#E its all fine.
Now when the form is openend for the 2nd time to update values I get the value as A,C,E separated by carrage return thats fine too.
Now i need to set these 3 values as selected by default so i had some java script in form ready.
Where i iterate tru these list match the entries in the dropdown its fine untill here.
this.setItemState(index,true)
is the code to set them as selected but when i do only the 1st found is set to selected not the remaining ones.
Am i doing something wrong here, please let me know with your suggestions.

Hi Sai,
     The replace function is only replacing the first occur of #, not all of them. But you don't even need to replace the # before you do the split, just change your first lines to split directly with the # character. Your code should look as follow:

On button click of Infopath forms select multi select list box values...

We have multi select list box on one of the info path forms. We have placed on button on this form. If user clicks on this button we want to select some of the values in Multi select list box (check box).

Hi Amit,
From your description, you would like to check items in a multi-selection box when a button is clicked.
I’d recommend you make use of rules in InfoPath form, i.e. when button is clicked, then set a field’s value.
However, if you are using multi-selection box, then you could only set the value of one item at a time. If you want to select several items at once, then we could use code. For more information:

If you are using several check boxes to replace multi-selection box, then it will be more easy. The rule could be that when this button is clicked, set a field’s value (check box field) to true and repeat it.

LOV with 'ALL' option

I need to create an LOV with individual campus codes along with the option for selecting all of them. For my ALL option (in static list), I have the literal 'ALL' as my display and the string of (1,2,4,5 etc) as my return. This, however, does not work. I have also tried adding tic mark(s) to the string ('1','2','4' etc)... she still no work. Anyone know of a work-around?
