Retrieving imported pictures, when location of pictures is lost.

I imported pictures to Adobe Lightroom and exported them to my memory card. Now my memory card is broke!
Is there any way to retrieve those pictures from Lightroom. Right now they are saying missing.

I consider it very dangerous to phrase "pictures are in Lightroom".
I agree. I've known more than one person who is not so literate computer-wise to import into Lightroom, then delete originals (thinking they are now in Lightroom).
Being the author of PreviewExporter, I've helped too many people recover Lr previews after having lost originals.
I hope Adobe will try to make this clearer up front, along with "why do my imported pictures look different in Lightroom than they did in my camera...".
Anyway, I guess we need to hear from the OP now to ascertain whether the originals are recoverable somehow... best not to resort to preview recovery unless absolutely necessary.

  • Import Miro when location is different

    Dear All
I have a situation as below
Some material has been received from the import vendor. The material is presently on the port. We have hired some space on the port itself which we could consider as our external warehouse wherein the material would be loaded. Now as n when this material is required we will pay them the custom charges & get that material released. How can we cater such situation in our sap wherein we can have the stock status of that external warehouse.

    Dear Ravi
Thanks for the solution but when I create a separate Storage Location Accounting entries will be generated but the actual effect that I have to provide in my Books is that of the material Tfd from warehose to individual BA besides that Excise implications & other cost is also required to be booked. Secondly when I create a Storage location It will not solve the basic problem which is I have to keep only that stock which is being received from warehouse & based on that MIRO will me done.

  • I have iphoto 9 (version 8.1.2).  When I opened up iphoto it said that I had 0 pictures (it had over a 1,000) prior.  My screen saver was and has been set to a foler in iphoto and still displays the photos.  How do I retrieve my pictures?

When opening Iphoto (Iphoto 9 version 8.1.2) I went from hundreds of photos to 0.  I looked in my harddrive and could not locate the pictures under library or photos.  I tried rebuilding the system (ctl. alt. and opeing the program).  I would assume all my pictures are lost except for when my screen saver runs, I still see all of my old photos.  How can I retrieve my photos?

go in to finder than photos they should be somwhere in there. after you find them select add to iphoto

  • Why do imported pictures end up in an "Originals" folder I can't locate?

I am trying to import pictures to IPhoto from a CD. I am choosing "Import to Library" under "Files" on the IPhoto library menu, and then highlighting several folders on the CD.  I click the message that says do not import (all) duplicates. The import occurs. But when I check, the vast majority of the photos I had intended to import are not in the "last imported" area. If I use my "Spotlight" to locate one of the images that didn't import by typing in the exact name of the image (number plus jpg extension) I get two listing of the photo that did not import. One is (as expected) on the CD.  The other is in a folder called "Originals" in my IPhotos library. But when I scan the IPhotos library I cannot find a folder called Originals. In case it's relevant I should mention I have been using IPhotos Library manager, which has been useful. But in this particular instance, I am not using it--just trying a simple import into my IPhotos library.  Thoughts?
    All the best, David

    A few things
1 - Never go directly into the inside of the iPHoto library - there is no reason to and there are no user servicable pieces in it - only access your photos using iPhoto or the media browser - more details are available in the user tip on accessing your iPhoto files -
2 - a default "managed" library (the iPhoto preference to "copy imported items to the iPhoto library is in its checked state)  is strongly recommended - a referenced library where that preference has been unchecked is not a good idea
3 - IPLM is not a photo manager - it is a library manager and is used to help manage iPHoto libraries - iPhoto is used to view, access and organize libraries
4 - what is the source o the photos on the CD? Camera? Scans? in events view try looking at the top and the very bottom of the events - depending on the source of the photos and their past history they could be anyplace - but that is a place to look -

Hi, I was importing pictures into iPhoto from my sd card and suddenly iPhoto quit.  Now it just won't open.  When I click on the iphoto icon in the dock, nothing happens!  Does anyone have a solution to this problem please?

As a test launch iPhoto with the Option key held down and create a new, test library.  Import some photos and test to see if the same problem persists. Does it?
If it does then your current library has been damaged and should be repaired: apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Since only one option can be run at a time start
with Option #4 and then #1 as needed.
    Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 - download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 - click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option.
4 - In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments.  However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

  • Why does iPhoto create multiples when importing pictures?

    OS X Yosemite 10.10.2
    iPhoto version 9.6
I have a new MacBook and I am attempting to import pictures to iPhoto that were created by various devices - old digital cameras, scanners, iPhones.  The original images import without trouble, however iPhoto is creating an extra THREE pictures for each ONE that I import.  Please see the attached screenshot of my iPhoto after importing a few folders.  Take for example the Bowl for Kids folder - you will notice that the original folder has 20 pictures, and it is followed by an additional folder with 60 pictures.  The same situation is repeated for each folder.  The additional folders all share the same name - "d312a08daf7d..." and have EXACTLY three times as many pictures as the previous folder.  I have verified that the pictures contained within are indeed triplicates of the originals.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

I did not import an existing iPhoto Library.
Starting with a completely empty Photo Library, I navigate to File > Import to Library and select a single folder (Bowl for Kids).  This folder has 20 photos in it, however iPhoto imports 80 (20 originals and 60 multiples, as evidenced by the screenshot).  I then repeated the process for the other two folders.
The photos shown in the screenshot were taken from various devices many years ago.  None of the above were taken on an iPhone.
The photos reside on my MacBook hard drive under Users > Worgowan > Documents > Pictures and Videos.  I chose to place them here to keep them separate from the native Pictures folder.
To answer an inevitable future question, here are some settings from my iPhoto Preferences.
    > iCloud > My Photo Stream (OFF)
    > iCloud > Photo Sharing (OFF)
    > Advanced > Importing: Copy Items to iPhoto Library (OFF)
    > Advanced > Edit Photos (In iPhoto)
    > Advanced > Use RAW when using external editor (OFF)
    > Advanced > Save edits as 16-bit TIFF files (OFF)
    > Advanced > Look up Places (NEVER)

  • LR 5.2 hangs when importing pictures from the SD reader (Macbook)

Hi, I'm experiencing problems when importing pictures in Lightroom. The context is
    - Lightroom 5.2
    - Nikon D600 (always RAW files)
    - SDHC SanDisk Extreme Pro 32GB (UHS-I, 95MB/s)
    - Macbook pro 15" early 2011 (high def matte screen) running Mac OS 10.7
I have a recurrent problem when importing pictures in Lightroom using the built-in SD reader. LR starts the process ok but a few seconds later it seems to stop. If I click on a picture I get "preview not available". Even when (after a long long time) the importing finishes, the pictures are corrupted and I have to start it again.
The only solution I've found so far: try once and again (ejecting the card doesn't work, so I get several messages: 'disk not unmounted cleanly' or something similar) until it works smoothly. Usually 3 or 4 re-tries are needed. It goes worse with the number of pictures: the more pictures I have in my SD card, the more likely it will hang repeatedly. Very disappointing...
Any help would be welcome. Thanks!
    Cheers, German

Try this:  launch iPhoto with the Option key held down and create a new, test library.  Import some photos and check to see if the same problem persists. Be sure to not delete the photos after importing into the library.
If you are able to import into the new library try repairing your current library as follows:  make a temporary, backup copy (select the library and type Command+D) and  apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Since only one option can be run at a time start with Option #1, followed by #3 and then #4 as needed.

  • How do you stop adjustments to the image when importing pictures?

When I import pictures into Lightroom 1.1 they all automatically get adjusted to be much brighter. How do I stop this? The DEVELOP SETTINGS DIALOG in the IMPORT PHOTOS pop up box is set to NONE. I don't think it's a color management issue as the images are imported with a normal brightness/color balance and then get their settings changed one by one. Opening an image in Photoshop CS3 with the EDIT A COPY WITH LIGHTROOM ADJUSTMENTS radio selected opens up the modified brightened image. Opening that same image in Photoshop CS3 with the EDIT ORIGINAL radio selected opens a normal image with correct brightness/color balance.
This is driving me mad! I don't want these adjustments. Please help!

It's not turned on by default, that I know of. Somehow, yours got that way.
As to where it's located, I would like the preferences to be distributed around the application rather than concentrated in one place. I agree with you that this one should be in the import dialog.

  • I am using Photoshop Elements 12 and when I am importing pictures the system freezes and needs to be forced quit. When I restart it it continues to bring the pictures in eventually. What is the solution to this?

I am using MAC os version of elements 12 with OS 10.9.4 (the latest). When I am importing pictures from a card elements freezes consistently and needs to be voce closed. When I then restart elements it continues to bring the pictures in but this is very tedious and I need to get the matter resolved,

I would do another rename to disable or just delete all the OldFilm.AEX and OldFilm.AEXOLD in that NewBlue Folder.
If you do, please let me know if that OldFilm.AEX regenerates itself the next time you open Premiere Elements 13.
Here is the strange story...at least from my Premiere Elements 13 Windows perspective...never had the No Disc error issue
Here are some details to sort through trying to figure out why you have 2 OldFilm.AEX file in the NewBlue Folder.
    1. The original OldFilm.AEX file of Premiere Elements 13 has the date of 9/4/2014 (just before the version was released on 9/24/2014).
After the 13.1 update is done (whenever date), that OldFilm.AEX file has the date of 1/31/2015. I first saw notification of the 13.1 Update
    release early in February 2015.
    2. Now in Premiere Elements 13.1, if I take my OldFilm.AEX (date 1/31/2015) and disable it by renaming it to OldFilm.AEXOLD, close out of there, and reopen
the program, the OldFilm.AEX is not seen to regenerate. The OldFilm.AEXOLD remains there as its lone self.
    3. So, I am thinking that your OldFilm.AEXOLD in the screenshoot is "original equipment" that you disabled to get rid of No disc error.
Why the OldFilm.AEX is there also is not clear, but the dating on it suggests that it came along with the 13.1 Update.
Bottom line: let us try the deletion or disabling one more time and see what happens.
Looking forward to further reports on your findings, as your time permits.
    Thanks.

  • When I try to import pictures of my daughter, what gets imported is about 50 pictures of world flags, then masks.  I can't import any pictures now.  I am on MacBook Pro.  I called Applecare and honestly got 'gee I don't know' for an answer.

I can't import pictures into iPhoto.  (f I can right click and there is a choice to put in iPhoto that works fine) .  No matter what happens, even when I download them first, all that imports is a mass of pictures of flags and masks, and they are the only things that are imported, no matter what picture I try to import into my librarly.  Can anyone help me with this?  I live in a small down 5 hours from an apple store so I can't just take it in and get somene to look at it.
I am on a Macbook Pro.  I called AppleCare and all i got was 'gee, I don't know'.  Everything was fine until about 3 weeks ago

Elaine.  What are you trying to import from?  Are you inserting a camera memory card in the slot on the side of your mac? Are you connecting your camera to the mac through a USB cable? It sounds like you can see your pictures, where do you see them, on the memory card that you open on your desktop, or are you using software that came with your camera?

    What version of iPhoto?
What colour profile is the shot?
    As a Test:
Hold down the option (or alt) key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there?

It sounds like you are using an application to import. You can do it manually.
Start > Computer (on the right) > scroll to the bottom and you will see your iPhone under Portable Devices > Open it and you will see a Drive, open that and there will be a DCIM folder. That is where your photos will be (There may be other folders each holding photos).

  • Automatic directory creation and renaming when importing pictures

    Hello,
I was wondering if what I'm trying to do is possible with iPhoto or anything in Leopard.
When I import pictures, I want to create folders and rename the pictures based on the date. For an example, when I import pictures taken on November 10th, 2007, I want to create folder "2007", then under that folder create "11", then create "20071110", then rename the photos in "20071110_001.jpg" format.
    Is it possible?
    Thanks.

No, actually I did all your posts all the way to the end. How can you tell? because I answered this question
    The goal.
When importing the pictures through my Mac Mini, copy new pictures in the Samba server using the same structure, NOT in my LOCAL Mac Mini.
in my very first reply to you. I did this when I said:
    No.
Was there some part of that that was confusing?
iPhoto will not do this, and, frankly, I know of nothing that will on the Mac. If you're confident with AppleScript you may be able to whip up a Folder Action to do it where you:
    1. Download the pics to a folder in the Finder. Have the attached script read the exif data, rename the files, and then create the required folders on the Samba server and copy the files over. But I have to say that I don't know if you can get a Finder Script to read exif data. I certainly could find nothing in the library. Nor is there anything in the Automator library that I can see. You might like to post on the AppleScript forum:
    http://discussions.apple.com/forum.jspa?forumID=724
where some of the folks over there might be able to help.
    2. Then have an attached script that will automatically import the files into iPhoto. This is relatively straightforward with either Automator or Hazel.
