Retrieving Oracle Data on JTable

I'm just starting in Java and I would like to have atleast a sample code on a certain table which retrieves data coming from the Oracle Database using JDBC. Thanks.
My JDBC Configuration is fine. I'm also familiar with the Database Oracle Connection using resultset and Driver Manager.
I already tried it using the JComboBox in which the data is coming on the Oracle Recordset. It works! Now I just want it done using the JTable. Help me guys!

hi,
try this out
try{
     stmt_test=con.createStatement();
     rs_query = stmt_test.executeQuery("select * from Emp");
     rsmd=rs_query.getMetaData();
     cnt = rsmd.getColumnCount();
     for(int j=1;j<= cnt;j++)
     vec1.add(rsmd.getColumnLabel(j));
     while(rs_query.next())
     vec=new Vector();
     for(int i=1;i<= cnt;i++)
     vec.add(rs_query.getString(i));
     mainvect.add(vec);
catch(Exception e){//the exception here
create three vectors namely vec1,vec and mainvect.
construct the table using
JTable tab = new JTable(vec1,mainvect);
hope this solves ur problem

    Hello,
    I get error HY000 [Oracle][ODBC][ORA] ORA-00932: inconsistent datatype when I want to show a CLOB column in my crystal report. The type of the field in the report is memo - in the database it is CLOB.

  • Retrieve the data from Oracle (Superior difficult)

    Dear all,
    I want to retrieve the data from the table (TABLE A), in TABLE A there are a field call RANGEFROM, However, the data type of it is "VARCHAR2". But in this field, it can contain numeric and date. Now, I want to select this field in it by a SQL statement. I want the SQL statement like this:
    "SELECT * FROM TABLE_A WHERE (to_date(RANGEFROM, 'mm-dd-yyyy')) <= 'Now()';"
    However, the result of the SQL only display in VARCHAR2 mode. That mean it can't compare the result. so What can I do?
    Thanks
    null

    As long as the input literal for formatting the date is in always like 'mm/dd/yyyy' then you may explicitly select the RANGEFROM field in your select list as to_date(RANGEFROM,'mm/dd/yyyy');
    eg:
    SQL> select to_date('01122000','mm/dd/yyyy') RANGEFROM from dual;
    RANGEFROM
    12-JAN-00
    Also this is now good for comparison:
    SQL> select SYSDATE - to_date('01122000','mm/dd/yyyy') from dual;
    SYSDATE-TO_DATE('01122000','MM/DD/YYYY')
    339.67455
    Also the same technique could be applied in your where condition as well.
    Good luck :
    (12 month wait for a response is not good)

  • Performance issue with Oracle data source

    Hi all,
    I've a rather strange problem that I'm stuck on need some assistance on.
    I have a rules file which drags data in via an SQL data source thats an Oracle server. If I cut/paste the 3 sections of "select" "from" and "where" into SQL-Developer and run the query, it takes less than 1 second to complete. When I run the "load data" with this rule file or even use the "Retrieve" with the rules file edit, it takes up to an hour to complete/retrieve the data.
    The table in question being used has millions of rows and I'm using one of the indexed fields to retrieve the data. It's as if the Essbase/Rule file is ognoring the index, or I have a config issue with the ODBC settings on the server that is causing the problem.
    ODBC.INI file entry for the Oracle server as follows (changed any sensitive info to xxx or 999).

    One other thing that I've seen is that if your Oracle data source and Essbase server are in different geographic locations, you can get some delay when it retrieves data over the WAN. I guess there is some handshaking going on when passing the data from Oracle to Essbase (either by record or groups of records) that is slowed WAY down over the WAN.
    Our solution to this was remove teh query out of the load rule, run it via SQL+ on a command line at the geographic location where the Oracle database is, then ftp the resulting file to where the Essbase server is.
    With upwards of 6 million records being retrieved, it took around 4 hours in the load rule, but running the query via command line took 10 minutes, then the ftp took less than 5.

  • How to retrieve the data type of a column of a table?

    Hi,
    I want to retrieve the data type of a column of a table. At the moment I am querying "OCI_ATTR_DATA_TYPE" attribute but it is returning SQLT_CHR for both varchar2 and nvarchar2 data type columns. I need to distinguish between these two data types columns separately. Is there any API through which I could get the exact data type of a column i.e. "nvarchar2"?
    Thanks in advance.
    Hashim

    Hi,
    This is the Oracle C++ Call Interface (OCCI) forum - I'm not sure if you are using OCCI or OCI (Oracle Call Interface - the C interface) since you reference "OCI_ATTR_DATA_TYPE" which is more of an OCI focus than OCCI.
    In any case, you might take a look at "OCI_ATTR_CHARSET_FORM" which takes the following values:
    #define SQLCS_IMPLICIT 1     /* for CHAR, VARCHAR2, CLOB w/o a specified set */
    #define SQLCS_NCHAR    2                  /* for NCHAR, NCHAR VARYING, NCLOB */So, if you have a datatype of SQLT_CHR and OCI_ATTR_CHARSET_FORM is SQLCS_IMPLICIT then you have a varchar2 if it is SQLCS_NCHAR then you have an nvarchar2.
    If you are using OCCI and not OCI then take a look at MetaData::ATTR_DATA_TYPE and MetaData::ATTR_CHARSET_FORM which expose OCI_ATTR_DATA_TYPE and OCI_ATTR_CHARSET_FORM respectively.
    Perhaps that will get you what you want.
    Regards,
    Mark

  • Unable to insert and retrieve Unicode data using Microsoft OLE DB Provider

    Hi,
    I have an ASP.NET web application that uses OLEDB connection to Oracle database.
    Database: Oracle 11g
    Provider: MSDAORA
    ConnectionString: "Provider=MSDAORA;Data Source=localhost;User ID=system; Password=oracle;*convertNcharLiterals*=true;"
    When I use SQL Develeoper client and add convertNcharLiterals=true; in sqldeveloper.conf then I am able to store and retrieve Unicode data.
    The character sets are as follows:
    Database character set is: WE8MSWIN1252
    National Language character set: AL16UTF16
    Select * from nls_database_parameters where parameter in ('NLS_CHARACTERSET','NLS_LENGTH_SEMANTICS','NLS_NCHAR_CHARACTERSET');
    PARAMETER VALUE ---------------------------------------
    NLS_CHARACTERSET WE8MSWIN1252
    NLS_LENGTH_SEMANTICS BYTE
    NLS_NCHAR_CHARACTERSET AL16UTF16
    I have a test table:
    desc TestingUni
    Name Null Type
    UNI1 VARCHAR2(20)
    UNI2 VARCHAR2(20)
    UNI3 NVARCHAR2(20)
    I execute the below mentioned query from a System.OleDb.OleDbCommand object.
    Insert into TestingUni(UNI3 ) values(N'汉语漢語');
    BUT when retrieving the same I get question marks (¿¿¿¿) instead of the Chinese characters (汉语漢語)
    Is there any way to add the above property(convertNcharLiterals) when querying the Oracle database from OLEDB connection?
    OR is there any other provider for Oracle which would help me solve my problem?
    OR any other help regarding this?
    Thanks

    using OraOLEDB Provider.
    set the environment variable ORA_NCHAR_LITERAL_REPLACE to TRUE. Doing so transparently replaces the n' internally and preserves the text literal for SQL processing.

  • Oracle Data Provider (ODP) Passing Arrays to PL/SQL

    Does anyone know how to pass an array or collection of data (from VB.net) to PL/SQL using the new Oracle Data Provider?
    My PL/SQL procedure is accepting type Table (Table array).
    This was easily done with Oracle Objects (in VB6) but I've found no way to do this with the new provider with .Net.
    It seems like a serious limitation if it can't be done.
    Anyones help would be appreciated.

    Just out of interest, what are the performance implications of using REF CURSORS for retrieving resultsets from Oracle stored procedures via ODP.NET?
    When coding the PL/SQL for these, the REF CURSOR is left OPEN and not explicitly CLOSED. When does the cursor actualy get closed? Is there a risk of reaching "maximum open cursors" or some other limit more quickly if REF CURSORS are used in this manner?
    I haven't found any documentation of this issue as yet.

  • Write / store xml data in Xe and retrieve stored data using pl/sql

    Hi to all,
    i'm searching a tutorial on:
    A - how to write / store xml data in Xe and retrieve stored data using pl/sql
    I don't want to use other technologies, because i use htmldb and my best practice is with pl/sql.
    I was reading an ebook (quite old maybe) however it's about oracle 9 and it's talking about xmltype:
    1 - I don't understand if this is a user type (clob/varchar) or it's integrated in Oracle 9 however i will read it (it's chapter 3 titled Using Oracle xmldb).
    Please dont'reply here: i would be glad if someone can suggest me a good tutorial / pdf to achieve task A in Oracle XE.
    Thanx

    Thank you very much Carl,
    However my fault is that i've not tried to create the table via sql plus.
    Infact i was wrong thinking that oracle sql developer allows me to create an xmltype column via the create table tool.
    however with a ddl script like the following the table was created successfully.
    create table example1
    keyvalue varchar2(10) primary key,
    xmlcolumn xmltype
    Thank you very much for your link.

  • Crystal Reports and Oracle Dates

    CA Forum: General
    Hey Guys, I am experiencing some issues with Crystal Reports Developer XI (SP4) and Oracle Dates. Situation:I have a view setup in oracle database, i use this view to base my reports. Within the view there is a logtime column (to_date(logtime,'DD-MM-YYYY') & to_date(logtime,'DD-MON-YYYY') -: i have used both) When i connect to the database the database expert (view on the left of the screen) displays the logtime column as date time, but when i go to refersh the report with data with the logtime as group 1, i get a whole lot of errors:1: Failed to Retrieve data from Database2: Failed to Retrieve data from Database    Details: ORA-01861: Literal does not match format String    Database vendor code: 18613: Failed to Retrieve data from Database    Details: Failed to execute SQL statement. OCI Call................................... Anybody got any ideas why this is happening, if i use the to_char the report work fine...well it will not sort by date!! Any help, most appreciated.... Hello there and thanks for your reply,
    I have found the problem, it was not really a problem but a slight misjudgment of the use of the to_date function in oracle!
    I should have used to_date in conjunction with to_char
    to_date(to_char(logtime,'DD-MM-YYYY'),'DD-MM-YYYY')
    Presto
    No need fo any formula in crystal to do this....
    Thanks again

  • OSB: Retrieve MIME Data when MTOM is enabled

    Hi,
    I'm aware that when a proxy service MTOM enabled, attachments variable (storing MIME data) is null.
    Is there other way to access/retrieve MIME data?
    For eg. Content-Disposition, Content-Type.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
    Can anyone help? Perhaps I should rephrase my question.
    What is the reason for this statement when MTOM is enabled:
    The $attachments message context variable, in contrast, does not contain any information (is null).
    Thanks!

  • Can I define a SQL Server View to Oracle data?

    So I have a subset of data whose source of truth resides in an Oracle Database. Can I define a SQL Server View to retrieve this subset of data and make it available on the SQL Server side for say Reporting and SSRS? I think I also saw where they tend to
    prefer User-Defined functions as opposed to a view. If I define the view using an OPENQUERY, I have noticed that it seems to run FOREVER on the SQL Server side and returns pretty timely if I run in Oracle SQL Developer. Is there anything I can tweak to improve
    this timeliness or lack there of?
    And the whole reason I'd like to create a view of this Oracle data is so that I can take advantage of all the views and functions that we have created on the SQL Server side.
    Has anyone gone down this path and can offer some advice and web sites or YouTubes as to the best way to approach this?
    Thanks for your review and am hopeful for a reply while I keep Googling this.

    There are couple of ways by which you can connect and fetch the data
    OPENQUERY - which you are already using [uses linked server] -
    runs on remote server
    OPENROWSET - I would like to avoid this because it requires crenditials
    OPENDATASET - Similar issue like OPENROWSET
    Directly access linked server like LINKEDSERVER.DATABASE.SCHEMA.TABLE -
    runs on your local server
    Now, performance
    basically, they have the same performance advantages and disadvantages when connecting to remote server. But you can enhance it by
    Avoiding data conversion
    Using procedure on Oracle and then call it from SQL Server (due to compiled plan your result will be faster)
    Avoiding dealing with complex data types
    If you are dealing with large number of records, try using Oracle connector in SSIS. I found it working much better than SQL sometimes.
    Hope this will help
    Glad to help! Please remember to accept the answer if you found it helpful. It will be useful for future readers having same issue.
