Retrieving password.........

Hi all,
We want to compare the entered password in an input field with existing one by using UME API. How it can be achieved.
As there is a method called 'getHashedPassword', but not able to compare it with supplied one.
Is it possible to do so?

Small add-on (see UME API docs):
public boolean checkPassword(java.lang.String pass)
compares the stored password with the input password
<i>Note: Use IUserAccount.isPasswordDisabled() before calling this. If the password is disabled, this method will result in a UMRuntimeException.</i>
Parameters:
pass - Password string
Returns:
true if match , false otherwise
public int checkPasswordExtended(java.lang.String pass)
throws UMException
compares the stored password with the input password Possible return values are:
ILoginConstants.CHECKPWD_OK
ILoginConstants.CHECKPWD_WRONGPWD
ILoginConstants.CHECKPWD_NOPWD

That is the bugger with generic (executable) functionality. When used for multiple requirements which are too far from each other then they break or the "lowest common denominator" calls the shots.
If this data is being uploaded from the application server, then why don't you just protect it there. The S_DATASET for that program context will not be very usefull, because it is generic.... so you can look into using S_PATH.

Again, this means that anyone who knows the generic password (or can display / debug the code) will be able to access the data.
A better variant of the same would be to create a symbolic service user, and prompt for that user's password before the data is downloaded. You can then use standard functions for prompting for passwords, which also update the lock counter.
=> If the password is locked due to incorrect logins, then the program is locked for this functionality as well.
=> You can periodically lock / unlock / change the access to the program, by administrating the service user in SU01.
=> Do not give this service user any authority at all - you only want to prompt for knowledge of the password, but not actually log the user itself onto the system. (see report RDDPWCHK for some example coding)
In German this is called "von hinten durch die brust", which means something like "unusual approach but still works anyway".

Keychain doesn't retrieve passwords when I need them.

Keychain doesn't retrieve passwords when I need them. It's turned on, and it suggests passwords as needed. How can I fix this problem? It's worse than losing passwords that I created myself.

It seems your passwords aren't autofilling. That does sound troublesome. You may want to review your autofill settings in Safari:
Safari 8 (Yosemite): If AutoFill doesn’t work
If AutoFill doesn’t work in Safari
If Safari isn’t automatically filling in information on websites, try these suggestions.
Choose Safari > Preferences, click Passwords, then make sure “AutoFill user names and passwords” is selected.
Note: The “AutoFill user names and passwords” option in the Passwords pane is equivalent to “User names and passwords” in the AutoFill pane of Safari preferences. When you select one, the other is also selected.
Make sure any information you want to be filled in automatically is saved on your card in Contacts. Safari can only fill in contact information that’s on your card in Contacts. For example, if a form requires your phone number, but it isn’t on your card, you must fill it in manually.
Make sure the webpage has fields AutoFill can complete.
Safari may be unable to tell which fields are for user name and password, credit card number and expiration date, and so forth.
If AutoFill still doesn’t work, the website may not allow it.

Can retrieve password from OID?

Can i get password from Oracle Internet Directory? Is there any tools available? I found that using command 'ldifwrite' can convert information residing in an Oracle Internet Directory to LDIF file. Can this command retrieve password as well? Im using Windows and ldifwrite.exe doesn't exist in my oracle_home/bin, so i can't execute this command. Any solution? Thanks...

mass retrieval of user passwords is not possible for as far as I know. The passwords of the users you have added to the OID are encrypted, so there is not much use anyway. Passwords for a couple of services/database users are unencrypted, but for some reason I do not think this is what you are looking for...

Retrieving password for Time Machine

Hi all!
For some time now, when I turn my computer on I get a pop up window asking me to log onto my Time Machine so my iMac can back up to it.
The time Machine window has my name in it but every password I try does not work. I can see where you can change your password but if you dont know your existing one, you cant change it. How do I retrieve my password? At the moment the name in the window is my name - i.e. not my Apple ID - which I have tried also.
Any suggestions to show me how to retrieve my password will be appreciated.

You cannot retrieve your password. The Mac encrypts it as it is entered, and only the encrypted version is stored. Your Mac does not even know how many characters are in your password. All it can tell is, if you enter it again and it encrypts what you enter, was that It?
You can forcibly RESET your password, but then the old password is lost. so everywhere else that requires a password will then require the new password.

A representative from China Telecom recently set up my broadband PPPoE connection on my macbook pro.
I can only see my Account Name in clear text.
The Password used is displayed only as a number of dots...
How can I retrieve the entered password?
I own the machine have full control of the macbook but cannot read the password entered, neither can I copy the password entered....
Is there a way around to do so?

I found the solution myself.
Go to Utilies - Keychain Access.
Under System - Password find PPPoE - rightclick and select "Copy password to clipboard" - enter your macbook pro administrator Username and Password.

Boot from your install disc, go to Utilities>reset password. Choose the account you want a new password for and enter it, verify it and click on save. The new password will work for everything unless you have a separate password for keychain.

Ahh. sorry Why you try "select dbms_metadata.get_ddl(’DB_LINK’,’TEST’,user) from dual
it will give the script. If the password in encripted for 10g try with "link$" it will work.

Retrieving Password self service registration answer

Hi
Is there any way to retrieve what user has given at the time of registration? There is an issue everytime raised by the users that the Password service is not taking the answer given at the time of registration. We need to verify and compare the registration answers with the actual answers given by the users.

Wouldn't that kind of defeat the purpose...?
Have you thought about linking UME to your Windows Authentication and disabling the question, i.e. if the people know their Windows Password they can reset their SAP password(s) without additional questions?
Might not work for everyone, but a smart solution if it complies with your policies.

You will need to install the OS to your computer and then use loader.exe to install the apps back to the device. What OS version do you have on the new device? Compose a new mail and in the body type "myver"without the quotes and hit the space bar. Please post that version number and your carrier.

Retrieving password encripted backup

How do you retrieve a password for encripted backup?

The ONLY time I've ever seen this happen is where the user had a company Exchange account installed on their phone. Exchange accounts can require the iPhone backup be encrypted, through a profile installed on the phone, that will trigger that switch in iTunes, whether the user selects it or not. Using the Exchange password fixed the situation.
And what exactly do you mean by "starting over?"
You delete ALL existing iPhone backups listed under iTunes>Preferences>Devices, make sure the box to encrypt is NOT checked & sync. This creates a current iPhone backup. Of course, such is not possible if encryption is required, as I've stated above.
