Retrieving raw XML data

Hello,
I'm working with the Oracle Content Server 10gR3 and Site Studio. I'm using region definitions and contributor data files to hold the content. For some cases I would like to include the raw content from these data files into the rendered web page. This would be similar to the site studio contributor, that lets you edit the content of the xml data files.
The problem is, when I use ssIncludeXml all the idoc script commands are evaluated. But I would like to get the original data with the idoc commands. Is there any service I could call to get the raw data? Site studio contributor uses the "SS_GET_CONTRIBUTOR_CONFIG" service, but as this returns json like data I can't use that in Site Studio ether.
Thanks,
Andreas

Hi Tim,
thanks for your answer. Using AJAX would be the way the contributor window does it by calling the SS_GET_CONTRIBUTOR_CONFIG service. It's correct, that I should be able to use the JSON data then to extract the information I want.
But that is too late. I want to process that data with idoc when the content server renders the page. Like including placeholder data or a fragment snippet just without evaluating it.
Cheers,
Andreas

  • Retrieve raw captured data after report generation crash

    Hi everyone
    Yesterday we were performing load tests on a server. During which I created and I scheduled a User defined data collector set based on the system performance collector set. The data capture ran for 2 hours. It then proceeded with the process of generating
    the report. During this process I observed the Tracerpt.exe was slowly and consistently consumed memory. The generate report process was taking a while, so I came back to it 15 minutes later, to discover the process has ended, but no report could be found.
    I'm assuming the process crashed.
    Is there a way to retrieve the raw capture data and attempt to regenerate a report? Where is the raw data temporarily stored?
    Is there any why to retrieve the missing information?
    Any help is appreciated.
    Ernie Prescott

    Suppressing Result Rows can be done in Query designer itself for one time. You need not to do after you get the report every time.
    If you always expect some 10 free chars constantly, i suggest you to insert them in Rows pane in Query designer but not in Analyzer. So that your report layout will be taking care with all settings what you want to do after the report generates in Excel. I mean you will get desired layout when you run the report first time itself.
    Suppress repeated key values also can be done in Query designer itself one time.
    By doing above, your report execution will not be tedious and it will be minimizing your efforts.
    Over all, What I have understood is, you are doing all sorts of settings in Analyzer after getting such huge volume of data, by which it gives you crash error.
    With all above steps, you can run your report with all pre-defined settings.

  • Filtering multiple-XML data model with parameters

    I have a data model that consists of a concatenation of 9 separate RSS feeds (weather information from 9 different cities coming from http://www.weather.gov/data/current_obs/????.xml, where ???? is the National Weather Service station ID). All of the feeds have exactly the same format. When I view the raw XML data, I see 9 different values of station_id and of every other tag. So the XML data looks fine. Now I'd like to be able to select one city at a time in an LOV dropdown.
    I've created a static LOV called Cities with the list of the 9 station ID's. I've created a parameter called city that is tied to that LOV.
    What I can't figure out is how to tie the selected city to the station_id field in the concatenated XML dataset.
    I've tied adding a parameter to each rss data set, entering each city's 4-character station ID into its Parameter Name field, and of course choosing city as the parameter. For example, the Parameters section for the Amarillo rss feed would show a Name of KAMA and a Value (Parameter) of city. While this seems logical, selecting the parameter on the View screen doesn't change the display.
    Is there a way to accomplish this?

    Ahhh, post as in "e-mail". DOH!

    Hi to all,
    i'm searching a tutorial on:
    A - how to write / store xml data in Xe and retrieve stored data using pl/sql
    I don't want to use other technologies, because i use htmldb and my best practice is with pl/sql.
    I was reading an ebook (quite old maybe) however it's about oracle 9 and it's talking about xmltype:
    1 - I don't understand if this is a user type (clob/varchar) or it's integrated in Oracle 9 however i will read it (it's chapter 3 titled Using Oracle xmldb).
    Please dont'reply here: i would be glad if someone can suggest me a good tutorial / pdf to achieve task A in Oracle XE.
    Thanx

    Thank you very much Carl,
    However my fault is that i've not tried to create the table via sql plus.
    Infact i was wrong thinking that oracle sql developer allows me to create an xmltype column via the create table tool.
    however with a ddl script like the following the table was created successfully.

  • How to store the XML data? file or database?

    i'm frustrate at it.
    If store XML data into files, then when i query any data,how can i search data using relationship as SQL?
    But if store XML data into database.How can i transform the xml data to the data table?
    Can any one give me an clear example.

    XML is perfect for data interchange and readability. However, to make it searchable you should resolve it properly into tables, in accordance of your own choice of model.
    1. Investigate the XML files and resolve the model
    <Person sex="male">John
    <Pet animal="dog">Doggy</Pet>
    <Pet animal="cat">Catty</Pet>
    </Person>
    2. Create the tables in your database, let one or several tables keep the raw xml for retrieval of original xml data.
    --- XMLDocument ---
    id XML_data
    --- Person ---
    id XML_Document_id sex name
    (foreign key)
    --- Pet ---
    id Person_id animal name
    (foreign key)
    3. Resolve data from the xml files and insert it into the database. Do this through your ContentHandler, or from your DOM model.
    --- XMLDocument ---
    id XML_data
    0 <Person>...</Person>
    --- Person ---
    id XML_Document_id sex name
    0 0 male John
    --- Pet ---
    id Person_id animal name

  • DataGrid does not display XML data

    Hello, and thanks for reading this...
    I am having a problem displaying XMLList data in a DataGrid.
    The data is coming from a Tree control, which is receiving it
    from a database using HTTPService.
    The data is a list of "Job Orders" from a MySQL database,
    being formatted as XML by a PHP page.
    If it would be helpful to see the actual XML, a sample is
    here:
    http://www.anaheimwib.com/_login/get_all_orders_test2.php
    All is going well until I get to the DataGrid, which doesn't
    display the data, although I know it is there as I can see it in
    debug mode. I've checked the dataField property of the appropriate
    DataGrid column, and it appears correct.
    Following is a summary of the relevant code.
    ...An HTTPService named "get_all_job_orders" retrieves
    records from a MySQL database via PHP...
    ...Results are formatted as E4X:
    HTTPService resultFormat="e4x"
    ...An XMLListCollection's source property is set to the
    returned E4X XML results:
    ...The "order" node is what is being used as the top-level of
    the XML data.
    <mx:XMLListCollection id="jobOrdersReviewXMLList"
    source="{get_all_job_orders.lastResult.order}"/>
    ...The "jobOrdersReviewXMLList" collection is assigned to be
    the dataProvider property of a Tree list, using the @name syntax to
    display the nodes correctly, and a change event function is defined
    to add the records to a DataGrid on a separate Component for
    viewing the XML records:
    <mx:Tree dataProvider="{jobOrdersReviewXMLList}"
    labelField="@name"
    change="jobPosForm.addTreePositionsToDG(event)"/>
    ...Here is the relevant "jobPosForm" code (the Job Positions
    Form, a separate Component based on a Form) :
    ...A variable is declared:
    [Bindable]
    public var positionsArray:XMLList;
    ...The variable is initialized on CreationComplete event of
    the Form:
    positionsArray = new XMLList;
    ...The Tree's change event function is defined within the
    "jobPosForm" Component.
    ...Clicking on a Tree node fires the Change event.
    ...This passes an event object to the function.
    ...This event object contains the XML from the selected Tree
    node.
    ...The Tree node's XML data is passed into the positionsArray
    XMLList.
    ...This array is the dataProvider for the DataGrid, as you
    will see in the following block.
    public function addTreePositionsToDG(event:Event):void{
    this.positionsArray = selectedNode.positions.position;
    ...A datagrid has its dataProvider is bound to
    positionsArray.
    ...(I will only show one column defined here for brevity.)
    ...This column has its dataField property set to "POS_TITLE",
    a field in the returned XML record:
    <mx:DataGrid width="100%" variableRowHeight="true"
    height="75%" id="dgPositions"
    dataProvider="{positionsArray}" editable="false">
    <mx:columns>
    <mx:DataGridColumn width="25" headerText="Position Title"
    dataField="POS_TITLE"/>
    </mx:columns>
    </mx:DataGrid>
    In debug mode, I can examine the datagrid's dataProvider
    property, and see that the correct XML data from the Tree control
    is present. However, The datagrid does not display the data in any
    of its 6 columns.
    Does anyone have any advice?
    Thanks for your time.

    Hello again,
    I came up with a method of populating the DataGrid from the
    selected Item of a Tree Control which displays complex XML data and
    XML attributes. After the user clicks on a Tree branch, I call this
    function:
    public function addTreePositionsToDG(event:Event):void{
    //Retrieve all "position" nodes from tree.
    //Loop thru each Position.
    //Add Position data to the positionsArray Array Collection.
    //The DataGrid dataprovider is bound to this array, and will
    be updated.
    positionsArray = new ArrayCollection();
    var selectedNode:Object=event.target.selectedItem;//Contains
    entire branch.
    for each (var position:XML in
    selectedNode.positions.position){
    var posArray:Array = new Array();
    posArray.PK_POSITIONID = position.@PK_POSITIONID;
    posArray.FK_ORDERID = position.@FK_ORDERID;
    posArray.POS_TITLE = position.@POS_TITLE;
    posArray.NUM_YOUTH = position.@NUM_YOUTH;
    posArray.AGE_1617 = position.@AGE_1617;
    posArray.AGE_1821 = position.@AGE_1821;
    posArray.HOURS_WK = position.@HOURS_WK;
    posArray.WAGE_RANGE_FROM = position.@WAGE_RANGE_FROM;
    posArray.WAGE_RANGE_TO = position.@WAGE_RANGE_TO;
    posArray.JOB_DESCR = position.@JOB_DESCR;
    posArray.DES_SKILLS = position.@DES_SKILLS;
    positionsArray.addItem(posArray);
    So, I just had to manually go through the selected Tree node,
    copy each XML attribute into a simple Array, then ADD this Array to
    an ArrayCollection being used as the DataProvider for the DataGrid.
    It's not elegant, but it works and I don't have to use a Label
    Function, which was getting way too complicated. I still think that
    Flex should have an easier way of doing this. There probably is an
    easier way, but the Flex documentation doesn't provide an easy path
    to it.
    I want to thank you, Tracy, for the all the help. I checked
    out the examples you have at www.cflex.net and they are very
    helpful. I bookmarked the site and will be using it as a resource
    from now on.

  • Print-time XML data update?

    We're researching our options to print artwork with dynamic (i.e. data driven) elements inline with our production process.  We have a packaging machine that has an integrated inline printer and we want to send print jobs that contain dynamic data such as part number, lot number, expiration date, description, etc.  In the past we have used barcoding and marking software for this as it's designed to be either autoamted by a third party application or to pull data from a database itself.  On this new project we're looking to deliver or more graphically rich result.  We thought InDesign with it's XML backed frames may be an interesting option to explore.
    Something like:
    Production management system (PMS) generats the backing XML file with the job specific data
    PMS then retrieves the appropriate InDesign template file for the product being produced
    PMS prints the InDesign template file and the XML data is pulled in
    Keep in mind that workflow is based on reading the product specs and a few blog posts about InDesign, we are NOT InDesign users (yet).  There are a couple areas I see problems and I wanted to ask the community if you happen to know if they are real issues or not.
    I suspect we would need a full InDesign license on the PMS system in order to print the ID template files.  We would want to make tis all command line if possible, we don't want a tech to use InDesign but still I think a license would be needed, even just for printing.  Update:  I have since found InDesign Server and it sounds like it may be an option for this concern.
    If command line printing IS an option, will such an operation cause the template to pull in the XML data that was generated by the PMS?  In other words, the PMS generates an XML file in a location that the InDesign template is expecting, will InDesign pull in that data when the file is sent to the printer?
    Actually, is it even possible to command line print an InDesign template file or do we need to go through a pre-print processing stage to generate a PDF or some other file?
    I hope that these questions aren't too vague and that you understand what we're hoping to accomplish.
    Regards,
    Steve

  • XML Data from PL/SQL procedure -- special character issue (eBS)

    Hi All,
    I am developing a report, where the XML data is created by a PL/SQL procedure. I chose this approach over a data template, since there is a lot of processing involved in producing the actual data, and it cannot be done by select-statements alone. The report is run as a regular concurrent request.
    So far so good. There is a problem though. Every time the data contains special characters (ä, ö, umlauts), the concurrent request is completed with a warning, the log confirms that "One or more post-processing actions failed.", also there is no output file. The XML structure is valid as such. The report runs smoothly and produces the output when the XML data does not contain special characters.
    I am producing the XML lines by using the standard FND_FILE.PUT_LINE procedure: Fnd_File.put_line(Fnd_File.output, '<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>'); This seems like a character encoding issue, but declaring the UTF-8 encoding in this way does not solve the problem.
    Any ideas what can be done to fix this? I have been searching Metalink but cannot find an answer. Many thanks for your kind help.
    Best Regards, Matilda

    Hi Rajesh,
    One idea I have, is that it might be possible to modify the PL/SQL code into a "before report" type trigger, attached to a data template. The code would process the data and write the lines into a temporary table, from which the data template could retrieve them in a simple select-query. However, it would be neat to be able to solve this without adding an extra layer of processing, since BI Publisher supposedly supports PL/SQL procedures as the data source.
    The data in this case is all correct, special characters are an intrinsic feature of the Finnish language. :)

  • How to retrieve Request Form Data in OIM 11g for SOA workflows

    Hi,
    I have a business requirement wherein, I need to retrieve a field's value inside my SOA composite for further processing and decide on the Approver of the Request. Say for e.g. I'm having a field *"Country"* inside my Request Form, and what i need to do is, as soon as the request form is submitted, I need to retrieve the value for *"Country"* attribute inside my SOA Composite using Payload, and further process it. This scenerio is with respect to provision an application instance to a user.
    Now, in a similar scenario, where I was trying to create a user of type *"Contractor"*, I had used Request Service Api to retrieve the Basic information of the userform submitted, and decide on approval. Fortunately, the basic data like, First Name, Last Name, Login etc was successfully being fetched from the Request and I was able to perform further operations.
    Unfortunately, the same code which was working for Creation of a User, is not working when I'm trying to provision an application instance to the user.
    Below is the code which worked fine for me to retrieve basic request data for user creation, and isn't working for provisioning application instance:
    RequestService reqSvc = (RequestService)oimClient.getService(RequestService.class);
    String reqId = ((oracle.xml.parser.v2.XMLElement)getVariableData("inputVariable", "payload", "/ns3:process/ns4:RequestID")).getText();
    System.out.println("request ID: " reqId);+
    Request req = reqSvc.getBasicRequestData(reqId);
    List <RequestEntity> targetEntities = req.getTargetEntities();
    System.out.println("targetEntities : " targetEntities);+
    System.out.println("------------");
    for (RequestEntity rea : targetEntities)
    +{+
    List <RequestEntityAttribute> attributes = rea.getEntityData();
    for( oracle.iam.request.vo.RequestEntityAttribute attribute : attributes)
    +{+
    System.out.println("Attribute.getName() : " attribute.getName().toString());+
         if(attribute.getName().equals("User Manager"))
         +{+
    beneficiaryManagerKey = attribute.getValue().toString();
         System.out.println("User Manager : " beneficiaryManagerKey);+
    +}+
         e+lse if(attribute.getName().equals("User Login"))+
         +{+
    userid = attribute.getValue().toString();
         System.out.println("User Login  : " userid);+
    +}+
    +}+
    +}+
    Any pointers to this would be of a great help.
    Regards

    List <RequestEntity> targetEntities = req.getTargetEntities();
    System.out.println("targetEntities : " + targetEntities);
    System.out.println("------------");
    The above piece of code retrieves the attributes and their values from the request form while creating a user, but not from the request form, which provisioning a resource to a user.

    </soapenv:Envelope>
    And i want to retrieve the values of tag
    <ChannelID> and <v6:VID>
    can somebody help, i have tried with extractvalue but not able to get the values

    I have used the below two queries but not able to get the expected results. Both queries result into no values.
    select xmltype(MED_REQ_PAYLOAD).extract('//ClientDetails/Org','xmlns:soapenv="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/" || xmlns="http://www.abc.com/gcgi/shared/system/header"').getStringValue() from ESB_OUTPUT_TEMP where SOAPACTION = '/SvcImpl/bank/alerts/v6_0_0_0/SOAPEndpoint/AlertsService.serviceagent/OpEndpointHTTP/AlertDeleteInq'
    select EXTRACTVALUE(xmltype(MED_REQ_PAYLOAD),'/RqHeader/) from ESB_OUTPUT_TEMP where SOAPACTION = '/SvcImpl/bank/SOAPEndpoint/AlertsService.serviceagent/OpEndpointHTTP/AlertDeleteInq'
    Well, for starters, both queries are syntactically wrong :
    - non terminated string
    - incorrect namespace mapping declaration
    - unknown XMLType method "getStringValue()"
    Secondly, all those functions are deprecated now.
    Here's an up-to-date example using XMLTable. It will retrieve the two tag values you mentioned :
    SQL> select x.*
      2  from esb_output_temp t
      3     , xmltable(
      4         xmlnamespaces(
      5           'http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/' as "soap"
      6         , 'http://www.abc.com/gcgi/shared/system/header' as "head"
      7         , 'http://www.abc.com/gcgi/services/v6_0_0_0' as "v6"
      8         )
      9       , '/soap:Envelope'
    10         passing xmlparse(document t.med_req_payload)
    11         columns ChannelID  varchar2(10) path 'soap:Header/head:RqHeader/head:ClientDetails/head:ChannelID'
    12               , VID        varchar2(30) path 'soap:Body/v6:AlertDeleteInqRq/v6:Base/v6:VID'
    13       ) x
    14  ;
    CHANNELID  VID
    HBK        20071209013112
    You may also want to store XML in XMLType columns for both performance and storage optimizations.

    First, we have separate environments for development, QA, and production.  Each environment will have a seperate URL to retrieve the XML for the report.  I would like to use the same report design to access each environment.  Is there a way to update the URL in the data source (or replace the data source with one that has the correct URL) without having to re-add the fields to the report design?
    The second issue is similar.  I can't seem to get Crystal to recognize changes in the XML format (new fields for example) without having to delete and recreate the data source (which automatically removes all the associated fields from the report).  Is there a way around this, or again, a way of re-creating the data source without it removing the existing fields in the report?
    Thanks,

    I have the same problem. Where can I find help about setting the data source when connecting to a web service. Since the hostname is hardcoded in the report, it is necessary to update it in the code.
