Retriving Data from TableView with a Button Click

Hi,
I have a TableView and a Button. The requirement is that the user can select several rows in the tableview and click the button to process the selected rows. I am using the following logic in OnInputProcessing to retrive the rows selected,
DATA: TB1 TYPE REF TO CL_HTMLB_TABLEVIEW,
       tlist1 TYPE REF TO OBJECT.
case event->name.
      WHEN 'button'.
               CALL METHOD cl_htmlb_manager=>get_data
                  EXPORTING
                     request = runtime->server->request
                     name = 'tableView'
                     id = 'tvX'
                  RECEIVING
                      data = tlist1.
         TB1 = tlist1.
Then access TB1->data->prevselectedrowindextable to find out which row indexes the user has clicked in TableView.
However I get error that can't assign type ot tlist1 to TB1.
The return type of tlist1 is TYPE REF TO CL_HTMLB_TABLEVIEW so this assignment should be possible.
But I think the problem is only during runtime is the type of tlist1 knowm. ?
Also, is there a better way to retrive multiple rows from a tableview when a button is clicked ?

You are correct that ? is the character you are looking for here. In your next quiet moment, spend some time reading ABAP online docs (or in fact any OO like language) on casting.
DATA: tb TYPE REF TO CL_HTMLB_TABLEVIEW,
obj TYPE REF TO OBJECT.
obj = tb.
tb ?= obj.
You need the ? to indicate to ABAP that are casting from an OBJECT to something bigger. Notice that in the other way this is not required.

i have a problem with the function module "ALSM_EXCEL_TO_INTERNAL_TABLE". I will call this function module with vba to load data from excel to sap with a Buttonclick. I have copied this function module and set it remotable. But i can´t call it from excel.
Can you give me some tips how can i
upload data from excel with vba by click a button.
The problem seems the function: call method cl_gui_frontend_services=>clipboard_import in the function module, because when i comment this function call the vba-call is true but no results.
How can I call the function module correct with vba?

Importing data from excel ... when clicking finish button nothing happens

Version 3.1/32bit version ... I am trying to import data from excel but when i clicki finish button nothing happens. any idea. this used to work fine on the older version?

Hi,
Generally speaking, the data import from an xls or xlsx format Excel file works. You need to provide more information about your environment and the Excel file itself -- size, data types of the columns, number of worksheets, etc.
I recommend running sqldeveloper.exe (not sqldeveloperW.exe) from a command line window. Repeat your import test and see if any stack trace appears in the console. For example, trying to open a 0 byte xls file results in a stack trace like this:

EVDRE encountered an error retriving data from web server in PROD

Hi friends,
We are checking Evdre reports in BPC production system. We checked few application' EVdre input templates & reports and are fine.
But yesterday evening onwards we are facing below error message.
EVDRE encountered an error retriving data from web server. This message we are getting for all BPC applications in BPC production. There is no short dump in backend.
But when i checked in BPC developement there is no probelm.
We are on BPC7.5 NWsp04 and BI7.01.
In BPC, production,when i try to create evdre template(just after filling
information in evdre builder), immediately getting same error information.
I read few notes, did as per that but sill problem exists. In note, mentioned process dim of particular application and process application. Logout from bpc admin & excel. I did this and, that error message not received for upto 20min. After that i'm getting error. We checked communciation between ABAP layer and bpc, reset IIS also. Still same probelm exists.
Any suggestions pls.

SAP OSS team resolved along with our basis guy.
Initially SAP supported notes:
1.1475233 and 1378705 Process all dimensions and applications.
2.1355954 Drop SAP temp tables.
3.1428764 confilict only if you use Oracle 10 g, if you don't, then forget it.
I used 1378705 and problem resolved temporarly, but still exists after 1 day.
There are different reasons for getting the error message. In our case, problem is at backend BW and, BW system running on HP unix OS.
Checked librfc32.dll in the
directory /usr/sap/BP1/DVEBMGS00/exe.
Executed the following MDX statment in MDXTEST transcaction, and it
executed in both the available instances.

Even i also don't have clue how SAP resolved this issue.

I would like to extract data from Essbase with HAL.
I use the essbase Adapter with the "Extract Data" Method.
All is working when I use only the essbase Adaptater and configure it.
But I want to have a variable on my Years dimension.
I have to fill "Years member port" and "Years Criteria port" of my essbase Adapter with variable.
I have a "v_year" and "v_year_criteria" variable. I fill "v_year" with "FY05" but I don't know how fill my "v_year_criteria" variable.

If you are in 9.3x, I would recommend using the DATAEXPORT calc script function. You just FIX on what you want to export (including substitution variables), and then fill in some parameters and it writes a file. Look in the DBAG.

Problems with retrieving data from tables with 240 and more records

Hi,
I've been connecting to Oracle 11g Server (not sure exact version) using Oracle 10.1.0 Client and O10 Oracle 10g driver. Everything was ok.
I installed Oracle 11.2.0 Client and I started to have problems with retrieving data from tables.
First I used the same connection string, driver and so on (O10 Oracle 10g) then I tried ORA Oracle but with no luck. The result is like this:
I'm able to connect to database. I'm able to retrieve data but from small tables (e.g. with 110 records it works perfectly using both O10 and ORA drivers). When I try to retrieve data from tables with like 240 and more records retrieval simply hangs (nothing happens at all - no error, no timeout). Application seems to hang forever.
I'm using Powerbuilder to connect to Database (either PB10.5 using O10 driver or PB12 using ORA driver). I used DBTrace, so I see that query hangs on the first FETCH.
So for the retrievals that hang I have something like:

On the side note, I have no problems with retrieving data either by SQL Developer or DbVisualizer.
Problems started when I installed 11.2.0 Client. Even if I want to use 10.0.1 Client, the same problem occurs. So I guess something from 11.2.0 overrides 10.0.1 settings.
I will appreciate any comments/hints/help.

Installing 11g client changed something that even using old 10g client (which I still have installed) fails to work. The same problem occur no matter I'm using 10g or 11g client now. Powerbuilder hangs on retrieving tables with more than like 240 records.
