Return code 8 while converting field in record 1 (Remote cube)

I am executing a query which fetches data from a remote cube. This query gives me errors 'Return code 8 while converting <Field> in record <no.>' RSAR 1118.
What might be the issue with the remote cube. and how should I check it.

I have a base image I have created with an MDT task sequence, than I am then immediately capturing with another MDT task sequence (the capture sequence is basically the default). After capture, I get 0 errors, 1 warning: "Unexpected return code
while re-arming office 2010, RC= -1073425657".
I am capturing immedaitely after the base image build, and even more strangely, even with Office 2010 removed from my base build, I STILL get this warning! Office isn't even on there anymore (I verified before capture just to double check).
Not sure how or why this is happening - or more importantly, should I care? I've deployed a couple of machines using this image, and both Office and Windows show as activated. Can this safely be ignored, or if not... what is the fix?

Please read your own post again, can you tie the knots together, because your phrasing is going crazy!?!
However, if using the sysprep step from within a MDT task sequence, please scroll through the ZTISysprep.wsf to find that not only the machine will be sysprepped, but also Office 2010 will be automatically re-armed, this is provided in the script already,
so no need to run it on your own.
Ok how do i undo that because thatswhy the message appears to many rearms...
If a machine is domain joined, it will not sysprep and capture. Also I wouldn't sysprep and capture an already sysprepped and captured image again (based on gut feeling) and as always check your logfiles, they can reveal what is going on here.
The machine is not domain joined in the Vm. And i do not sysprep and capture twice.Which logfiles exactly to see?

Error Getting return code while FTPing file through JAVA

Hello experts
My requirement is to send file to Mainframe server in a JOBQ.I used a socket to connect to server. A designated FTP ID is provided for authentication.
I tried to FTP file to mainframe sever, but while getting return code from server, i m recieving Junk values.I am reading return code through BufferReader.readline().
I have set up the connection mode to ASCII mode.I tried to set up the connection mode to EBSIDIC mode too, but i revieve the same error.
Any one have tried to FTP file to mainframe in got the same error.What could be the possible reason.

UOM is not converting in APO reports(Remote Cube-Bex)

I am using SCM5.0 with BI7 and i have created the reports (Bex)in DP with remote cube.
Here i am unable to get the option to convert the units from ton - kg - pc.
System by default taking the ton from PA, But i need to convert this into kg/ pc in my report.
Note: I have maintained conversation in master data(product).
I think i have missed some settings in Q-Designer/ Cube settings?????
Please help me experts in this regards.

Hi,
Edit the Infosource based on your PA:
1. Add new KF to Communication structure - let's say QUANT_PC
2. In transfer rules for new KF choose "Routine". In ABAP code read the conversion factor from master data and calculate the quantity in PC. Assign to RESULT.
3. Activate
Now you can add new KF to your remote cube and new KF will be accessible in BEx reports.

Hi we r trying to run the listcube for remote cube .We are trying to access the oracle data by creating views and pulling it into bw using remote cube through UDConnect

Error reading the data of InfoProvider ZR_CHFCB
If any one face the similar issue please reply me back .

Remote cube doesn´t store data in BW....it only access data from remote system and shows in a report.....the listcube TX need to find a data table in order to show the information but in this case tha remote cube doesn´t have anything.....

No tax code while converting PR (EBP-PR) into PO

Hi Al
I am trying to convert a PR (created through EBP) into PO in the backend but the tax code which was determined in the
PR privously within EBP will not be transmitted or determined in the PO. Is this a standard problem?
Since in the PR on the EBP side is the tax code visible. I have looked that via T-code BBP-PD on the EBP side.
I'm lost here so any help is highly appreciated and greatly rewarded

In short you will have to define the tax codes, define Tax code in the info record of materials (ME11 to create).
So as soon as you put the vendor the Tax code can be populated in the PO.

Changes to be done in the code while converting appln to web start

I am developing one application using swing, Spring, Hibernate. It is working fine through eclipse. Now I want
this project to be launched via java web start. For that I have to make changes in the code for accessing
resources such as images, files. Also changes have to be made to access the system environment variables.
But there will not be 2 versions. I want something like
if applcaiton running through eclispe
execute this code for images and files
else if application is running though jabva web start i.e. by clciking on jsp
execute this code for images and files
Also spring-beans.xml has the system propery as environment.

but while running though eclipse i have to change it as

Now can it be possible to have only one property value for location?

You can even choose JSF as a view layer.

Dump while accessing remote cube

I have a remote cube on a r/3 function module.
While doing listcube on the remote cube I get following error:
System error: Message type   is unknown.
Error reading the data of InfoProvider
In R/3 error dump analysis gives the following:
Only message types A, E, I, W, S and X are allowed.
There is probably an error in the program "GP45R68OC5AE7889UWEDQJN1THJ".
MESSAGE_TYPE_UNKNOWN
Does anyone have experience to handle similar situation? Any suggestion for the next step?

Is there a direct effect while running queries against a remote cube when its underlying R3 DS has been enhanced?
An example is, I'm running queries on a remote cube copied from OL_PCA_1. Now I enhanced R3 DS 0EC_PCA_1_9 (which feeds IS 0EC_PCA_1, which in turn in the basis of my remote cube). I did not include the new characteristics in the remote cube itself, but rather included it in the enhanced standard OL_PCA_1 where more granular reporting will be performed.
Will there be query performance effects on the remote cube using this approach? How can I measure the performance impact (if any) on the remote cube's queries?

I am getting error
"Record 1 :Return code 4 when converting field GN_PAR_SSY in record " while extracting customer text through 0customer_text.
In the transfer rule there is nothing assigned to the infobjects 0GN_PAR_SSY.
My source system is EEC 6.0.
I am not getting this error on development and quality servers.

If you using data source as flat file, nothing related with some other data sources.
and also LOG_SYS is not needed in the transformation.
Remove that link (LOG_SYS), Which is in the transformation.
After that you will not get that error message.

Return code 4- when converting field CUSTOMER in record

We are loading transaction data. Data load till PSA is succcessful but when we are loading from PSA to CUBE its is failing.
The error message is "Return code 4- when converting field CUSTOMER in record"
I have checked Transfer Rule, Update Rule it is simple object to object assignment. Data in PSA is also correct.
What could be the reason?

Return Code 0XFFAB411C received when setting selected field for timestamp

I have a time stamp field that I want to change the selected fields (the fields that determine whether the time stamp gets updated)
When I select ALL fields and save I get the return code of 0xFFAB411C.
I have ran verify repair on repository, no change
I have archived and unarchived, no change
I have deleted the field and recreated it with the same result.
When I create the field it defaults with selected fields "ALL" I need to add all the fields and remove 2-3 fields but I get the error message.
I have added fields one by one until I get the error message, then try it with just the last field but I do not get the error.
Any ideas?

FYI this is the response from SAP regarding this issue.
Please refer to SAP Note 1283688 which documents the limitation while
using time stamp fields.
As this is a Database limitation and currently can't be removed, please
consider the following options :
1) Since most of the fields are to be included, leave selected fields
with [All]
2) Split the table fields to 2 (or more) groups and add a Time stamp
field to each group
3) Lower the number of fields that should be tracked by the Time stamp
field
If both solutions are still not valid to use by the business, please
refer to SAP Note 1156293 on how to file an enhancement request.

SY - System fields and return codes in ABAP

I'm new to ABAP, where do I find what the meaning of the system field return codes are ?
example SY-SUBRC returns a number of codes 0, 2, 4, 8 etc what do they mean.
Is there a resource somewhere that provides this information for all the system fields.
I have searched high and low and have found little, they must be defined somwhere ?

As for what the return codes( 0, 4, 8) for SY-SUBRC mean, that is a little tricky. The meanings of the values are dependent on what statement was used previously. They would mean different things when used with different statements. For example, if you check SY-SUBRC after a FIND statement, the return code value 4, would mean something different than if you had check the SY-SUBRC value after doing an OPEN DATASET. So you need to look at the specific statements in help.sap.com and see what it says about the SY-SUBRC values for each statement.
