Return for Fan Problem (aka mooing)?

Has anyone actually returned their Macbook for the fans coming on and off (or "mooing")? If so, did you get a moo-free MB?
The mooing isn't too bad - and I have hope that software could fix it; but if there are Macbooks that don't moo, man, I would like one. However, no point in going thru the process if there is no possibility of getting a moo-free MB.

There definitely ARE some that do not moo. Or if they do, they do it much softer. Last night I had a white one that, every 10 seconds, would moo. It was horrible. Even with my TV on, I could still hear that fan revv up and then revv right back down, then 10 seconds later the process would repeat itself. I certainly couldn't live with that. I'm a student and would surely be kicked out of class with a laptop that sounded like a zoo, lol.
So anyway, I returned it today (demanding an exchange). What got me is when I explained the moo'ing to the girl, she sounded surprised and that she'd never heard of the problem before. THEN she takes it in back for about 5 or so minutes and comes back out and persists my MacBook didn't have a fan problem. I told her the machine had to be running for about 15-20 mins before it would kick in. Well she's gets my exchange and then continues to tell me "they're supposed to do that." She said hers at home did it. She also even commented about the posts on these forums about it at that point, too. I was thinking, okay then why didn't you tell me that when I explained the problem? I have a feeling the manager told her to tell me that.
Well, I got my black one home today and have been using it for about an hour before work (while it charged), and now for almost 2 hours (running down the battery). I've only been using it lightly and my temp hasn't gotten higher than 60C even on AC power. Perhaps this is why it doesn't moo? My white last night was close to 70C (on light use) and the moo wouldn't quit.
Unfortunately, this one does whine (somewhat loud on AC power, but very very soft on battery). However, that is a non-issue because turning on bluetooth shuts it up right away, or using QuietMBP works also. Whine I can deal with, but there is no work around for the moo.
So, my advice, is yes, return these moo'ing MacBooks. Like others have said, the more returns they get back for this fan issue, the faster they will (should lol) correct it. There's no need in my eyes to sell a laptop that behaves such as some of these do. I do not pay well over a thousand dollars to have to sit in a zoo-like atmosphere. And that's exactly what I told the sales woman. A lot of times I sit in quiet and this fan noise is too loud to ignore. However, I really do believe this is tied to a heat issue, because it is clear some of these run much cooler on light use than others do. That must be why I haven't heard the fan on this one - my temp is much lower than the one I had that moo'ed.

    Unlikely.  Based on the complete lack of detail of the issue provided it is entirely possible the same issue would occur.
    Unless and until the user provides some actual details of the problem, there is nothing the indicate that the issue is with the iPhone.

    No code to go with the question. I am trying to settle on the best design pattern for the problem before I code. I want to use an Object Oriented approach.
    I have included a basic UML diagram of what I was thinking so far. 
    Stated simply, I have three devices; Module, Wired Modem, and Wireless Modem.
    In the Device Under Test parent class, I have put the attributes that are variable from device to device, but common to all of them.
    In the child classes, I have put the attributes that are not variable to each copy of that device. The attributes are common across device types. I was planning to use controls in the class definition that have the data set to a default value, since it doesn't change for each serial number of that device. For example, a Module will always have a Device Type ID of 1. These values are used to query the database.
    An example query would be [DHR].[GetDeviceActiveVersions] '39288', 1, '4/26/2012 12:18:52 PM'
    The '1' is the device type ID, the 39288 is the serial number, and the return would be "A000" or "S002", for example.
    So, I would be pulling the Serial Number and Device Type ID from the Device Under Test parent and child, and passing them to the Database using a SQL string stored in the control of the Active Versions child class of Database.
    The overall idea is that the same data is used to send multiple queries to the database and receiving back various data that I then evaluate for pass of fail, and for date order.
    What I can't settle on is the approach. Should it be a Strategy pattern, A Chain of Command pattern, a Decorator pattern or something else.

    Recently, I've encountered a problem about clearing alert when a null value is returned for a metric column. From Oracle official doc, it seems that NO_CLEAR_ON_NULL could be used for this propose. However, it doesn't.
    Here is the line from doc, you can see when NO_CLEAR_ON_NULL is set as FALSE, the null value will clear alert, and the default value for NO_CLEAR_ON_NULL is FALSE.
    NO_CLEAR_ON_NULL: This attribute is used to control severity clearing when a null value is returned for a metric column. It defaults to FALSE with the behavior that a null value ends up clearing previous alert severities. With a TRUE value for this attribute, null values will be skipped in severity evaluations without clearing the severity.

    SQL*Plus is a CLI (Command Line Interface) client tool. It has a very limited vocabularly, allowing you to (primarily):
    a) configure its local environment (e.g. size of the terminal ito number of characters per lines)
    b) configure its bevahiour (e.g. spooling data to a file)
    c) defining substitution and bind variables
    And that's it. It is not PL/SQL. It is not SQL. It takes the PL/SQL and SQL you enter, and submit that to the Oracle server. (it does some basic parsing of the data to substitute variables and bind variables where applicable)
    Do not confuse this CLI client tool with the server side PL/SQL or SQL languages.

  • MacBook (13inch-late 2009) Heat/fan problem?? (2.26Ghz, white unibody)

    Hello guys, I have, maybe a problem with a unibody MacBook 2.26Ghz.
    Many times i have noticed that it is quite silently with his fan, even if some process are taking lot of CPU. For example, my MacBook Pro 13inch mid 2009 is not so silent, cause the fans runs faster. For example, now that I'm writing on it, the CPU temp is 55 degree and fans runs at 2500rpm. I think could be normal, even if most of the times I would prefer it would not cross 2000rpm for low temp.
    By the way, interested about the fan speed of this macbook unibody I have started a hard process that was taking lot of CPU (A VLC video mkv playing at very-very-very high quality). Around 90 % of both cores was used, so the temp started to gone up as normal.
    The strange thing, is that even if the CPU was running from 50, then 60 then 70 then 80 and over degree, the fan speed was still at 2000rpm. The fans was not taking care of this high temperature, all was normal. The video played for many minutes, and nothing happened, the fan was still at 2000rpm, some rpm more, some rpm less.
    On my Mac Book Pro, the same process cause an increase of fan speed quite after the CPU starts to get stressed at high percentage.
    I have manually tested the fan of this macbook, and it is able to go at faster speed, the classic 6200rpm can be reached if someone ask it to run at that speed.
    So, now I ask you guys, does is normal that this macbook quite ignore this hard temperature and not start to cool the CPU on this high degrees? Does I have to wait more for fan speed (i have waited at last 5-10 minutes)?
    My fear is that the heat could damage the CPU or cause any other hardware problems...

    When i'm trying to Post it using J1IV, Surprisingly I am finding that RG23A fields are getting populated instead of RG23C.whereas my requirement is that instead of RG23A , RG23C should get populate, so that i can complete mt transaction.
    plz suggest if any configuration has to be done for that, i have checked all configuration, i am finding correct from best of my knowledge.

  • Fan problem, could it be serious?

    I got the widget iStat Pro a while ago & loved it. Recently, I got another another app, smc fan control, I tried it out & found no real use for it. A few days ago, I noticed that iStat shows the fan speed for only one of the fans, "Fan 0" which goes at a little less than a 1,000rpm. Before, it showed both fans going at about the same speed. Now, next to 'Fan 1' it says, '0rpm'. The temperature of my computer hasn't gone up above normal temp, (about 100F) but still, is this fan broken? I uninstalled iStat & downloaded it again, but it still says that fan 1 is at 0rpm. Is this a serious problem? What can I do to fix this? I tried paying around with the fan control app again to see if I could get only fan 1 to go at a high rpm while fan 0 goes slower, but nothing changes for fan 1. Someone please help me out. Thanks.

  • Auto payment returned for non sufficient funds

    Help! I had an issue with my checking account this past week causing my Verizon payment to be returned for non-sufficient funds. By Friday I had the issue was cleared up with the bank and they reversed all the non sufficient charges due to this problem being an error on their part. I don't know what happened to my verizon payment now since it was one of the payments returned for insufficient funds? It is showing on the verizon web site as paid. My checking account is not showing it as withdrawn from my account a second time. I've never been late or had an issue like this. I don't know what to do. Will my auto payment be resubmitted? Will my service be suspended? Right now it appears that everything is paid, but I know from my bank account that the October payment has not been withdrawn and I've already received my next months bill and it the regular bill. Any advice? Thanks!

    I, too, know that sinking feeling when you get notification of a bank error- and many thoughts start coming to mind, especially about your other bills that are en-route. So I completely understand how you feel in this situation. 
    A thank you goes out to Leiko27 for the information provided. I would like to add some information if I may.  
    I, too, would recommend checking your balance by dialing #BAL., or 1-800-922-0204, option 1.  If the balance due is different than the amount of your bill, chances are good that the payment got reversed and the amount was added back to your balance. 
    Now, when a check is returned for Non-Sufficient funds, a $25.00 fee is billed to your account. However, since your posting mentioned that the issue was a bank error, we can waive any charges for a returned check if documentation is faxed on the bank's letter head confirming the bank error. Just so you have it, the fax number, if needed, is 1-847-706-7276. If you do need to fax the information, please do not forget to include your name and mobile number. 
    I would also recommend that if you do find that the balances are different and the check was returned, that you give our Financial Services Department a call directly. Their number is 1-866-266-1445. Their hours of operation are:
    M-F: 8:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m. ET 
    Sat: 8:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. ET
    Sun: Closed
    In these situations, we are always willing to work with you and make sure all is well with your account. In the meantime, please get documentation from your bank stating that it is their error, so we can credit any fees if they are charged.

    For Withholding tax quarterly returns we use t.code j1inqefile, but this does not generate quarterly returns for W.Tax u/s 195.
    Please advise which t.code can be used for section 195.

    Hi Rakesh,
    The liability towards TDS is the amount you have deducted in INR.You have to  calcuate TDS based on INR_value and pay as such.
    Here you have deducted Rs.2693 and have paid Rs.2356.40.The balance[ Excess deducted ] being 336.60[2693-2356.40] should be paid to the IT dept.
    Pass the following entries and close the account as under::
    1st entry: Dr::TDS clearing>336.60:::Cr:IT payable>336.60.[ The clearing acct.is now balanced]
    The next entry  > Dr::IT payable>336.60:::Cr--->. Bank:336.60 [upon actual payment]
    This resolves the problem in full.

  • Return for correction from asynchronous page

    HI ,
    I have a process for Contingent Worker Placment. I am initiating the process and have 2 approvers in the supervisor hirerachy.
    but requirement is that after these 2 approvers we need to have the final approval from another team. but they ll not get any notification. I ll put all the transaction details into the table n show that to the use. from there the approval group can do multiple actions like Return for Correction, approval, rejectiion etc.
    To achive this , I have blocked the workflow after 2 approvers.After this the txn details are put into the table from where the final approval group can either select approve , reject or Return fo rCorrection. When they click on Approval, the workflow blocked activty will be compelted with a result of Approve and if they click reject it will complete activity with reject status.
    Bothe are wokring fine. but RFC is not working. From the Admin group, I am able to launch the RFC page, but from there not able to complete the blocked activity of workflow and resume workflow as the RFC CO is a seeded CO>
    please advise.

  • BIOS 902 cooling fan problem

    Today, I powered my laptop and see the error BIOS 902, cooling fan problem. Then the laptop shutdown. However when I tried to power the laptop at third time, It can start up normally and I can use my laptop for more than 8 hours
    I found the solution in google that upgrading the BIOS. However the error 902 still there. My laptop always start up normally at third time.
    What should I do? Should I bring my laptop to warranty center?

    Please identify your notebook/pc .
    Look at the base/rear/side of the notebook/pc at the barcoded sticker.
    Post items numbered 1 and 2 on the following image. Your barcode may be slightly different but will still have the important imformation needed for us to help you.

  • Best approach for this problem

    Hi there Experts,
    I have an Async Sync Bridge BPM, to go from Delivery Idocs to Webservice Calls, after that i map the response to a an ALEAUD Idoc structure and i send it back to erp to update the Delivery Status.
    Currently its working as intended on production system, but the Deliveries quantity is growing exponentially, raising the response times for the whole process.
    I found a solution for this problem, instead of making 1 Webservice call for each delivery, i can group those deliveries and send multiple deliveries per each webservice call, the problem i have appears when i need to map this response to single ALEAUD Idocs.
    To Update the original delivery Idoc i need that idoc number onto the ALEAUD, but the webservice returns the response based on delivery number, therefore i need a mechanism, maybe a temporal table or something, that allows me to store the idoc number with the matching delivery number so i can use it as reference to map the huge response to single ALEAUD Idocs, also i'd like to know if this is possible to achieve using graphical mapping or wich would be the best way to do it.

    Maybe you can write 2 RFC function modules to maintain values in ECC and the other to read it. These RFC's can be called from within mapping.
    I dont know if it will work or not, but can be tried.

    thank you for your information. But I can only confirm again that officially this process is not supported by SAP. There have been many attempts to bring this functionality into the standard ( as the SAP employee working in this area I know this very well), but there have been always some technical problems or limitations which would do it impossible to release this functionality to the customer. The returns for the third-party order is therefore officially a not supported process at SAP ERP. The SAP note above documents this.
    Be careful with workarounds, they can have many critical restrictions or limitations here. I am sorry that I cannot give you a more positive response.
    But I hope that this info helps a little bit further.

    Done the PRAM and SMC reset ! I am just getting ready to throw it by the window, the fan noise drive me mad ! Use all the app for fan speed control !
    Apple is useless fixing the problem, who can help ?

    Assuming you did multiple SMC and PRAM resets correctly (for correct procedures please click iMac SMC and PRAM reset) and the problem persists then you may have a failed fan or fan sensor. To find out if you have a hardware issue run Apple's Hardware Test in extended mode 2-3 times back to back. The reason to do this is AHT does not always find errors the first or second pass however if it does find errors they are correct. If you do get an error code the ONLY thing to do is take the machine to an AASP (Apple Authorized Service Provider) or an Apple Store for professional diagnosis and repair.
    BTW rants are off topic, I have asked the moderator to please remove yours.
