Return key breaks dialog boxes

I have illustrator cs5 on snow leopard. When I open up a dialog box I often try to push enter when I'm done typing stuff to close it. The OK button is highlighted so you'd think this would work. But no, instead it just completely breaks the dialog. Clicking ok or cancel after pressing return does nothing. The dialog won't go away so I can't do anything with the rest of the program. I have to force quit and restart it, losing all my work. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Try this first
PC
1. Quit Illustrator.
2. Rename the AIPrefs file (for example, to AIPrefs.old) in the Users/(user)/AppData/Roaming/Adobe/Adobe Illustrator CS3 Settings folder.
3. Start Illustrator. Illustrator creates a new preferences file.
Mac
1. Quit Illustrator.
2.Go to User/username/Library/Preferences/ Adobe illustrator CS4 Settings and trash the settings folder, the whole folder not just the contents of the folder..
3. Start Illustrator. Illustrator creates a new preferences file.

Its file upload dialog box

All,
Within the portal, the file dialog box does not show up. When you click on the file upload dialog button, it simply hangs and does not return a file dialog box. We found in a note that this is resolved in patch 18 of its, but when we retest this the same problem came up.
Has anyone seen this problem? If so, how did you solve it?

Cancelling Dialog Box

I'm launching a dialog box from a page and this dialog box has two buttons. There is one button that uploads a file (i.e. performs an action) and another that will close the dialog box. On the close button I call the returnFromDialog and the calling page has a return event/listener that performs an action upon returning from the dialog box. However, if the user clicks on the "cancel" (red x on the dialog page) on the dialog box and not the close button, the returnFromDialog isn't called and the calling form doesn't execute the return event/listener... I need the return event/listener to run regardless of whether the user closed the dialog box by pressing the coded Close button or by using the default cancel button on the dialog box. Is there anyway to know the user pressed the cancel on the dialog box to return to the calling form?

you could set a session flag before calling the dialog and have this flag being reset when the return from dialog listener executes. If the flag is still set then you e.g. can alert this as an error upon the next user action (and then reset the flag)

In the expression editor dialog box my TAB key doesn't function correctly

This is bizarre behavior that seems to have started recently.
In Visual Studio 2012, an SSRS project, any expression editor dialog:
The tab key doesn't work right.
Open the expression editor and:
* I see a blinking cursor and I can type in the expression box.
* If I hit the tab key, the cursor disappears and I cannot type. I appear to lose focus in the editor but focus doesn't appear to go anywhere else in the dialog box.
* If I hit the tab key a 2nd time, the cursor is still gone and I cannot type.
* If I hit the tab key a 3rd time, I can finally type again and note that I am now
3 tabstops in. In other words it seems like the tabs were working but I lost the ability to type anything until I "tab" 3 magical times.
I can work around this by hitting tab key then grabbing the mouse and clicking where the cursor SHOULD be which returns focus to the text area.

According to your description, as you said that the cursor disappears and cannot type issue. It seems that the issue may be not Visual Studio the VS IDE issue.

Is there a way to change the defaulted (press 'Enter or Return on keyboard) button in a dialog box? Specifically,

When the cookie preference is set to "ask every time" the default button (highlighted & selected when I hit return or enter) is "allow." Can I change the default button to "allow for session" so I don't have to use the mouse to select it?

Your question/suggestion got me thinking about making a programmable function key (PFK), but I couldn't think how to make a PFK represent a mouse click. Then I tried the option [ ⌥ ] key (I don't have Alt [⎇ ] ) and the s, with or without the shift. I tried the command [⌘] key, and finally the control [⌃] key with the s — that's the one that worked. 8¬D
I remembered scripting radio buttons, which might apply here, but it's been too long ago.
Thank you for pointing me in a new direction, that will do well enough 'till I find out if the default button(s) can be changed in dialog boxes in general.

How can I return to the last selected item in a dialog box

In OS 9 using Dreamweaver (for example) when I was adding images to a document, each time I added one the dialog box would return to the last selected image and I could just arrow down to the next in the list, add it (exiting the dialog box) and then repeat the process until I had added all the images in the folder. Now, using OS 10.4, after I add an image, and return to the add image dialog box it goes to the first item in the folder list instead of the last selected item. this really slows the process down, and when I'm adding 100 items or so, it's a real drag. I figure there has to be a way to get the dialog box to return to the last selected item, but I don't know what it is. Help!

KB2909210 on Server 2008 R2 breaks my intranet sites and print dialog box

Let's try this again. I have been asking the following question of Microsoft and every time I do, I have only been told to try another forum.
I have several intranet sites that my users use for various data entry and querying purposes. I installed Internet Explorer 10 onto my 2008 R2 Terminal Server over this past weekend (10/18/2014) which also installed the Security Update KB2909210
and rebooted the server. On Monday morning (10/20/2014), when my terminal users logged into the sites, the sites began malfunctioning. All the dropdown arrows turned into question marks. Some fields which normally have a small "x"
on the right-hand side used to erase the data entered in the text field were also displaying as question marks. The objects still functioned but it was disconcerting to my users. The update also slowed down these same intranet sites to where it
began interfering with productivity. I activated Compatibility View for all intranet sites, but it did not resolve the problem.
I also found that when my terminal users tried to print a pdf document from the intranet sites, the print dialog box was jumbled and no fields were pre-populated with data like they always are when printing. I updated to the latest Adobe Reader, but
the print dialog box remained jumbled.
All of my users with stand-alone PCs have IE 10 installed and the intranet sites work fine. The sites display properly and process quickly, and the print dialog box is not jumbled. It is only my terminal users who log in from a thin client
to their profiles on the server and use the IE version installed on the server who have the problem with IE10. The KB2909210 Update is not installed on, and does not come up as, an update for any of my stand-alone Windows 7 PCs.
I uninstalled IE 10 from my server, but since this was one of my production servers, I could not restart it until after the plant was shut down for the evening forcing my users to suffer with the slowness for the day. This morning (10/21/2014) the
intranet sites are working fine through IE 9. I also had to revert back to Adobe Reader v9.5 as the v11 (and v10) print dialog box does not display properly in IE 9.
I do not want to stay on IE 9 on my server as IE9 gets more un-secure by the day and we've found IE 11, on any of our machines, to be too buggy.
How can I install IE 10 with its security updates and prevent it from breaking my intranet sites and print dialog box? What is so different about Server 2008 R2 and Windows 7 that IE 10 causes this corruption of intranet sites and the print dialog
box on the Server but not on the Win 7 machines?

In my opinion, it's hard to say your problem caused by KB2909210. Have you tried to uninstall this update for test if your intrant site's problem resolved?
If your problem truthfuly caused by this updates, you can choose to hid the update as a workaround method.

When I hit the escape key to close out the open file dialog box, firefox hangs or crashes.

When I open the "open file" dialog box using the ctrl+O and then hit the escape key to exit the box, I get an error message which I'm not able to paste here.
it says something about a runtime problem and if I try the same thing again to reproduce the problem, it will sometimes just hang and windows vista will tell me the program is not responding.
I've checked to see if there are any crash IDs but none were found for this time frame.
I have even disabled all add ons.
I'm currently using vista 64 bit edition and Firefox 6, beta edition.

After spending three months building a twenty six page Book Project in iPhoto i added a page and later decided to delete the page. The whole project was gone, the undo menu was grayed out and there was nothing in the iPhoto trash about my Book.

Sorry I'm having a hard time getting this.
If I go to my hard drive BIGMAC>Library>Application Support>iPhoto>the only thing in this folder is Themes.
However, when I "Get Info" it's 580MB for 24,421 items. iPhoto says I have 35,977 photos. I would think the database would be into the GB for this many photos.
If I go to BIGMAC>system>Library>I find nothing about iPhoto
Is the iPhoto file in the Application Support the one I need to replace with my backup?

Can't close levels dialog box by pressing ENTER key, how to fix?

Using Windows 8.1.
I could close the levels dialog box (CTR-L) by hitting ENTER key in CS6. Doesn't work like that in CC and I can't find a preference to change the behavior.

You realise that Enter works on whatever is the active button? That defaults to the OK button when you open Levels, and stays there if you just adjust the sliders, but will move to whatever button you click on i.e. Auto. If you really want to use the keyboard, then hitting Shift Tab a couple of time will move you back from Auto to OK and you can then hit enter to close the dialog box.

Math in 'Crop Pages' dialog box fields & Arrow key shortcuts

I believe Acrobat is the only Adobe application i've used where you cannot do math in the dialog box fields. For example: In the crop pages dialog box, if the top value is set to '.25in' and I wanted to add '3p6' to that value, I cannot type '.25in + 3p6' like I could in InDesign or Illustrator. Adobe, you spoil us by letting us take advantage of this math feature in InDesign & Illustrator. My calculator has been getting a lot of attention lately.
Also, what happened to using the arrow keys to increment the values up and down (crop pages dialog)? I used the arrows all the time in acrobat 7. Please bring that back! Prepress departments around the world will thank you.

Not all of the listed email recipients on my contact form are receiving the inquiries.    Muse allows me to add several email addresses separated by a semi-colon (see below from Corey Wrote) but only one of the three addresses are receiving the contact form inquiries.

Key Event Windows dialog box

I have executed a windows program using
Runtime = Runtime.getRuntime( );
Process proc = rt.exec(command);However the program brings up an " an ok message dialog box" which needs click in order for the program to run.
I have used the Robot class to simulate a Enter key press using the
robot.keyPress(keyEvent.VK_ENTER);However this does not work because the focus is on the command prompt and not on the windows message window. is there a way round this??

I have figured it out, so if any one else has this problem this is the solution.
Unfortunatley the only way I could do it was by turning to the dark side and using a spot of black magic and voodoo, sorry I mean Windows scripting (.vbs)
You first have to set the focus of the error title bar Appactive( ) and then use the Sendkeys( ) method to send a simulated enter key press, yuk!!!!!
If anyone has a better solution please tell

Submiting forms returns a "Save As File" dialog box

I've got a form that users return via email, one user always gets a Save As File dialog box and since this doesn't match the instructions. User doesn't return the form as others do. Any help greatly appreiciated.

JFileChooser does support a "save-as" dialog. Follow the link from the API documentation to the tutorial:

Declare a GUI status for the ALV.
In the GUI status, define an OK code for the F6 key.
In the form for processing ALV user commands, if it is this OK code, display your dialog box.
There are function modules for dialog boxes, but perhaps the neatest here would be another ALV.
