Return to previous menu before finsihing a scene?

I have set up menu 1 which gives a choice of viewing the entire progran (story 1) or go to menu2 with buttons for individual scene choices/chapters.
Each chapter marker will return to it's start button on menu 2 if played to the end. (end jump set to appropriate button)
How can I set the same action for a situation where the viewer doesn't watch the scene through to it's conclusion?

You mean if the user is in a story for a single scene, and they press the menu button on the remote? You can set the menu call for each story to go to a specific button from within the property inspector. This should easily achieve what you want to do, if I have understood you correctly.
You could also script this if you were not in a story, or had this set up in some other way. You would set the menu button and end jump to point to a script like this:
mov GPRM0, SPRM8
div GPRM0, 1024
Jump Menuname [GPRM0]
This is a GPRM based button jump, and the GPRM has been set up to hold the value of the last button selected on the menu (which is what SPRM8 does). The div function ensures that the button number (which is in multiples of 1024) is converted to a simple sequential number. You only need to make sure that the menu name is correctly entered in the script.

  • Return to previous menu from video while it is playing

DVD SP 3 I want the person playing my project to be able to terminate his viewing of a video and return to the menu from where he has just come, wherever that is depending on where the viewer is.
Pressing the Return button in the Simulator and also while the (physical) DVD is playing have no effect. The button on the Simulator's remote control is greyed, and while the DVD is playing on a TV a flattened hand symbol appears on the screen. I have tried setting Disc Inspector > General Tab > Remote Control > Return: to "xyz Menu", but no effect, and in any case would not do what I want (please see italics above and below). (I know that nearby in the Disc Inspector I can set the Remote's Menu and Title buttons to go to suitable menus, which helps but ony a very little because the setting is fixed.)
Many DVDs have several long videos and surely there must be a way of terminating, perhaps after a mistake was made in choosing it, or boredom etc. and allowing the viewer to retun to his last menu which will sometimes be two or more depths below "xyz Menu" and different from it and indeed different every time, depending on where he is.
    Any ideas please?

Steve - Drew has already got this covered, I'm sure... the answer is to use a simple set of scripts. The problem facing any author using multiple menus to access the same basic track asset is how to know which menu to go back to.
On some players, using the menu key will go to the last viewed menu, but not all will work this way - some manufacturers seem to invoke their own practices rather than the spec. guides.
What you do is really quite easy... every time that you send the viewer to a menu (be it the start up menu or whatever) you first of all send them to a script. In the script you set a value into a GPRM and that way you can keep track of where the user came from.
For example, your disc starts with a menu... but you set the first play to go to the following script:
    mov GPRM0, 1
    Jump Menu1
From the main menu you want to go to a features menu - set the button on menu1 to go to the following script:
    mov GPRM0, 2
    Jump Menu2
As you can see, GPRM0 (the memory space) has a new value in it. If you want to go back to the main menu from the features menu then set the button on menu2 to go to the first script. This will reset the GPRM value back to '1'.
Now, all you need to do is create a final script which you set to be the menu call and end jump for your track. You do this from the property inspector for the track - use the drop downs for 'Menu' to navigate to your scripts and choose the following script:
    Jump Menu1 If (GPRM0 = 1)
    Jump Menu2 If (GPRM0 = 2)
Now you have a system in place which will take the user to whatever menu they were last on regardless of anything else. You can expand this system indefinitely to accommodate many more menus, and also build it to send you back to the exact button you were last on as well. It's a flexible system!
Keep in mind that the menu button on your handset is intended to act as a resume function as well - don't fall into the trap of believing you can move from menu to menu by pressing using that handset button more than once - a second press will take you right back to the track you were last watching.

  • Return to previous menu button?

    hey hey...
does anyone know if there is a function that when ur in safari or doing something else and you get a txt message... if u hit reply and all that... can you return to the previous screen without going to the home screen?
    thanks for ur help!
    =)

No, you cannot. Reading an SMS takes you to the SMS app, and to get back to what you were doing before, you need to go through the home screen.

  • Return to main menu after chapter...

Is iDVD capable of returning to main menu after a certain chapter plays? The reason I ask is because I have a clip I would like to keep "hidden" - it's technically chapter 3, but I don't want it to play as part of the movie - I only want it be played by selecting "extra scene" in the main menu (don't really want it in the scene selection menu, but i'd take that also)- but I have a feeling iDVD can't do that... I hope i'm wrong though.
Another thing - i'm putting together a dvd with concerts - is it possible to have a menu and a scene selection menu for EACH show? For instance - concert #1 would have a menu - with a scene selection spot - and concert #2 would have the same - and 3 and so on... Of course, that brings me back to my first question - can these play without running together?
or do I need DVD Studio Pro? cause I think that's probably what i'm gonna have to look into.

Separate iMoive or FC projects can be input separately.
You can split a moive and import only what you want by exporting it to Quicktime alone.
But if something is a part of your main video project, it will play along with the other parts.
You can delete its chapter selection from your menu, but the video will still play in order in the project.
And, no iDVD can't return to the main menu from a certain chapter in the project.
The only way to do that is to (as stated above) import that video separately.
I'd say you still have a lot of options before you jump to DVDSP.

  • How can I return to previous page? There used to be an arrow in upper left side of screen that would allow this, but it has disappeared.

I have the latest version of Firefox, 5.0 installed today, but no arrow in upper left part of screen that previously would let me return to previous page.

can I somehow edit the location of where I can find all the sheets (right now they are on top of the page, and you can't see all of them listed at quick glance but must scroll/arrow through them)
On my machine I just hit shift-command-j (the keyboard shortcut I assigned in System Preferences) and a list of the sheets in the current document pops up:
I type a number from the list and jump immediately to that sheet. The hands never have to leave the keyboard.
(This particular document had a sheet named for each month.  But the sheets in your document automatically will be listed instead.)
This is done via a Jump to Sheet Automator Service (Dropbox download).  To install just doubleclick the .workflow package and (if needed) click 'Download Anyway' in System Preferences > Privacy & Security.
Installation will cause a new item to appear in your Numbers > Services menu.  Then, if you want a keyboard shortcut, go here in System Preferences and add one:
You can rename or remove the service by holding down the option key in Finder and choosing Go > Library > Services. You can also view the AppleScript contaned within the service by opening the .workflow package in Automator.
Note, also, that in Numbers 3 you don't have to use those left-right arrows upper right to slowly scroll left-right to the sheets that are out of view.  Just move your cursor up to the "band" with the "tabs" and drag left or right.  That's much faster than using the arrows.

  • Can I logoff from my iTunes and login using my family share id, download the apps that I want that waves to apps previously purchased before I linked family sharing

Can I logoff from my iTunes and login using my family share id, download the apps that I want that were previously purchased before I linked family sharing with my unique Apple id, logout, and log back in with my Apple ID to have access to the apps?

If you transfer any iTunes content to the iPhone from an iTunes library on another computer, all iTunes content on the iPhone will be erased first with a warning message provided indicating this beforehand.
Authorize the different computer with your Apple ID with iTunes. With your iPhone connected and without syncing, right click on the iPhone under Devices in the iTunes source list and at the menu window that appears, select Transfer Purchases. This will transfer all apps on your iPhone to the iTunes library.

  • Returning to Source menu when MENU is pressed

I have found close answers to this, but not spot on....
    (1) MAIN menu button "PLAY ALL" plays track. If MENU is pressed in the middle of play, it returns to MAIN menu. Good.
    (2) From the CHAPTERS menu, if I press a selection, it goes to that chapter & plays. Good also. If I hit MENU while playing that chapter, however, it goes back to MAIN menu. Not good. I want it to go back to the CHAPTERS menu & to the button that I first pressed. But, I want to keep the (1) menu connection, also.
I'm fine with my end jumps on the PLAY ALL track. It plays through to the end of all chapters. And the chapter tracks continue to the end, too. Separate stories would isolate all the tracks.
I just want the MENU button to return the viewer to their starting menus when pressed mid-play.
Any and all guidance is appreciated.

    No worries.
The theory is that each time you access a new menu you change a value in a memory slot (a GPRM). Move from menu to menu by going via a small script each time, and then you can rely on that value when using the menu button on the remote.
So, let's assume you have two menus - the main menu and a scene selection menu. Create two scripts and in the first one set it to read:
    mov GPRM0, 1
    Jump menu1
on that menu you will have a button that goes to your second (scene selection) menu... point it to the second script instead of the menu, and make the second script read:
    mov GPRM0, 2
    Jump menu2
On the second menu you'll have a button to return you to the main menu... set that button to go to script 1. In fact, any time there is a possible choice of menus in your project, set the button to go to the appropriate script.
Now, set script 1 to be the start up item for your disc. This will ensure that there is a value right from the beginning of playback.
Finally, when you press the menu button you need to go to the correct menu. A third script needs to be created which reads:
    Jump menu1 If (GPRM0 = 1)
    Jump menu2 If (GPRM0 = 2)
If you are concerned that there might be a time when GPRM0 doesn't have a 1 or a 2 in it (can't think why, but things might go wrong), then add a third line:
    Jump menu1
This ensures that you will end up somewhere at least... although I don't think this will ever be needed... it's a safety net.
So - a little more long winded than Dave N's ones, but guaranteed to work regardless! It get's a bit tiresome with lots of menus, but there are other ways around it then. For a small-ish number, use these 'freestanding' scripts and keep away from pre-scripts if you are using GPRM based button jumps.
For example, let's say your menus have 30 buttons on them each (wow... too many!). When you are on button 24 and you play, then go back to the menu you really want to be back on button 24, right?
In this case you'll need to set up some more scripting to accommodate that. Have a look at http://www.dvdstudiopro.co.uk/gprm-based-button-jumps/ for some ideas on this one (it uses GPRM0 so you'll at least need to change that to a different GPRM) - the two systems can be combined with a little thinking.
I'll write a tutorial about it and post it at http://www.dvdstudiopro.co.uk as soon as I get a chance.

    # Question
When the program gets terminated unexpectedly (power failure, UPS fails), when I reopen it, it usually does NOT return the previous pages, as I have checked in the 'options' box, but goes to some random collection of pages often from months ago. Very frustrating - can anything be done to COMMAND it to save current pages and re-open there? (As I said, I have this box checked in the options, but it does not work ..

Very Important, how much Free Space is on your Hard Drive first of all? Click on the Macintosh HD on the Desktop, then do a Get Info on it.
Could be many things, we should start with this...
    "Try Disk Utility
    1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
    2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu at top of the screen. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
*Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.*
    3. Click the First Aid tab.
    4. Select your Mac OS X volume.
    5. Click Repair Disk, (not Repair Permissions). Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106214
Then try a Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
(Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.)
If perchance you can't find your install Disc, at least try it from the Safe Boot part onward.
Do they launch OK while in Safe Mode?

  • How to return to previous pages without going back one at a time

I do a lot of work on ebay and have to return to previous searches or pages and I used to be able to have a button that would show all the previous pages and I could go down the list and click on it. The only option I have now is to go into history and it only shows recent pages and it's for ALL the tabs open. I want just the tab for ebay previous pages. For instance if I go to ebay sold and relist an item it takes me through the prompts and if I want to return to ebay sold I want a drop down showing that option. I no longer see one. This normally wouldn't be too much of an issue except that the ebay sold is on ebay.com and relist is on ebay.ca so I like to go back to the previous page instead of going to bookmarks, ebay, my ebay, sold etc to get there again. Too much work!!! thanks, Iris

I had my iphone 4 locked to vodafone uk carrier. I connected the phone to itunes on my pc and tried to update the version to ios 6 through itunes. But it has been locked and asks for sim of previous carrier. how can i return to previous state?

You cannot return to previous state. The update re-locked the iPhone
to the original carrier. You must contact the original carrier to see if
they offer unlocking and if you qualify.
What does it say when you look at Settings=>General=>Carrier?
Be advised that if your iPhone had previously been hacked/modified/
jailbroken to work with other than original carrier, it may be impossible
for the original carrier to unlock it properly.

I get an "install failed" message. "Recovery system can't be created—click restart to return to previous version of OS X." This doesn't work. My Mac continues to try to install Mountain Lion. What is the elegant way to get my system back?

The first time I attempted to install ML was on a late 2011 MBP.  It ran for three minutes then gave me the error message: Could not install OSX due to an unexpected error.  I was using the original ML install app, not a USB or other drive.
After a couple of restarts wiht the same result I saw a message to the effect that the install was trying to close open apps.  I closed apps  manually a few times to no avail.  I shut down instead of restarting then booted into Safe mode (hold down the shift key when starting) and that did it.  The install went smoothly after that.
I since installed ML in two iMacs using a cloned copy of the install app on a USB drive.  This time I shut down the computers and booted into Safe Mode first and there were no problems.
I don't know if this issue is the one causing you these problems but it is a simple enough solution to try.

  • Project with 2 menus: Menu Remote does not return to last menu

    Blu-ray project.
2 menu A and B, each listing the chapters in 2 timelines (1 and 2).
Menu A and B are linked by buttons.
Timeline 1 end action is timeline 2
Project title button is set to menu A and main timeline is set to timeline 1
Each timeline has Menu Remote set to Return to Last Menu
In Encore preview, there is title button and a menu button (this seems to match my DVD player).  However, both buttons always bring me back to menu A, no matter where I starts.
For example, I start with menu A, go to menu B and click on a link to play a chapter in timeline 2.  When I press menu button, I expect it to return to menu B.  But it goes to menu A.
If I set timeline 2 Menu Remote to menu B, it does the trick.
I don't remember doing this for DVD project.  Is this be design?
Another thing confusing to me is the player.  I don't have a standalone player but I have both PowerDVD and TotalMedia.  Neither has both Title and Menu buttons.  TotalMedia has Disc Menu and PowerDVD has Menu.  Both has a title list 1-5 for this project which looks strange to me.  I still have a DVD player lying around and I can see the remote has both buttons.  Is this unique to Blu-ray and by design?
    Thanks

I've made the change in Encore to set timeline 2's menu remote to link to menu B.  The preview in Encore works fine.
However, once it's disc folder is created, Total Media remote button links back to menu A instead of B.  Same behavior in PowerDVD.
Is this a bug in Encore?  Or am I missing some settings?
I need to burn several discs this week.  Any help will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!

  • How do I prevent users from returning to previous pages in a PDF with fill-in-forms?

I am creating a presentation in Adobe Acrobat Pro and there is a test at the end. I do not want users returning to previous pages to find answers. How do I do this?

It can be done with a script, but it's not really a good way of doing it... The user can always close the file, re-open it and see the answers. They can also disable JavaScript and then do whatever they want. I suggest you think of another way of setting this up.
