  • What is credit and debit memo? cancelled and returned transactions...

    Hello Experts,
Can you please explain what does the terms above mean? Thank you guys and
    take care!

    hi...
A transaction that reduces Amounts Receivable from a customer is a credit memo. For eg. The customer could return damaged goods. A debit memo is a transaction that reduces Amounts Payable to a vendor because; you send damaged goods back to your vendor.
Credit memo request is a sales document used in complaints processing to request a credit memo for a customer. If the price calculated for the customer is too high, for example, because the wrong scale prices were used or a discount was forgotten, you can create a credit memo request. The credit memo request is blocked for further processing so that it can be checked. If the request is approved, you can remove the block. The system uses the credit memo request to create a credit memo.
    3. Debit memo request is a sales document used in complaints processing to request a debit memo for a customer. If the prices calculated for the customer were too low, for example, calculated with the wrong scaled prices, you can create a debit memo request. The debit memo request can be blocked so that it can be checked. When it has been approved, you can remove the block. It is like a standard order. The system uses the debit memo request to create a debit memo.
As mentioned above, creating a credit or debit memo request enables you to create credit or debit memos based on a complaint. For this first create a sales document with the order type for a credit or debit memo request. You can create the debit or credit memo requests in the following ways:
Accont receivables and account paybales are in FI Module - suppose you order some material and you cancelled the order - meanwhile company charges money from ur credit card ,now customer has to get money ,this time account receivable and account payable will come in pictures ...

  • Credit note, credit memo and credit for returns

    All,
Can anyone explain to me the difference of the followong scenarios?
    -Credit note
    -Credit memo
    -Credit for return
    tia - Pablito

credit note and credit memo are same i.e when u pass the credit to the customer because of the excess amount u taken for example the high priced invoice, to balance it u create this type of document.
credit for returns is exclusively when you take back ur damaged goods for example u return the value of the goods to customer thru this type of document.

  • Goods Return or AP Credit Memo Creation if AP Reserve Inv created

    Hi All,
Can anyone tell me how to create good return or ap credit note if ap reserve invoice is used. GRPO created with reference to ap reserve invoice always closed.
    Regards

    Hi,
We cannot create neither Goods Returns based on GRPO which is based on A/P Reserve
Invoice, nor Credit Memo based on A/P Reserve Invoice on which GRPO is
    based.
To cancel GRPO based on A/P Reserve Invoice, create Goods Returns NOT
based on any document whith exactly the same data as in GRPO that should
be cancelled. Next, Copy this return to AP Credit memo.
If you have created a payment based on AP reserve invoice, cancel it, it should reopen the AP reserve invoice document status in 2007 A. Then you can easily create AP credit memo.
Please try in test environment first.

    Hi suchi,
The following would be very useful to you.
To reduce implementation time for print forms development, SAP has created a set of the most commonly used forms - Preconfigured Smart Forms:
<u><b>SD:</b></u> Invoice, Quotation, Contract, Delivery Note, Order Confirmation, Scheduling Agreement, Inquiry, Cash Sales, Picking List
<b><u>MM</u></b>: Purchase Order, Request for Quotation, Contract, Delivery Schedule, Good Issue (3 scenarios), Good Receipt (3 scenarios)
    <b><u>FI:</u></b> Dunning Notice
All can easily adapt these forms to their requirements, saving time and money.
Hope this information has been useful to you.
if you would like to have a smartform of your own i.e a Z or a Y then there is an option to get a sap script copied onto a smartform.
the sap script for the same is -> <b>F140_DOCU_EXC_01</b>
Go to Txn SMARTFORMS and just put the required smart form name in FORM field and then go to the menu bar: Utilities-> Migrate SAPScriptForm and juts type in the Script name which is given above(i.e F140_DOCU_EXC_01 )
I hope this will be an amicable solution.
    if helpful pls reward.

  • Create a Credit and Debit memo with reference

    Dear Gurus,
When creatting credit and debit sales document with reference to a billing document it is not possible to modify value of the sales document, in order to create a partial document.
It only happens when the billing document refered has billing plan.
I need to create partial debit and credit memo from a billing document with billing plan.
    Can anybody take a hand?
    best regards,
    Juan

    Hi,
I presume you are asking , instead of creating credit and debit memos, why cant we change the sales order, Am  I right ?
If I am right, then I like to say here, we have a provision in SAP of creating Invoice correction request.
Which would satisfy your quest I suppose. Invoice correction request of customers complaints, has sales document type is RK, and Document category is K.
"I need to create partial debit and credit memo from a billing document with billing plan" I say why not, you can do it with suggested Invoice correction request which is the combination of  G2 &  L2  in a single document.
However If I have helped you for dispeling your doubt, I am glad.

  • Output type for intercompany credit and debit memo

    Dear SD Gurus,
I am working for the IDOC Credit and debit memo process. I have listed below the steps which I have done to get the process to be done.
    1) Intercompany sales order created.
    2) Delivery.
    3) Invoice.(Accounting document generated)
    4) Intercompany billing.(Accounting document generated)
    5) Intercompany credit memo request.
    6) Intercompany credit memo.(Accounting document generated).
My client requirement is "IDOC posting for intercompany credit and debit memo".
Once I have completed all the above process, I used the transaction code : "VF31"(Output for billing) to execute it. But If I have given the billing document number which is intercompany credit memo that it is not getting accepted for the output type :"RD04"(Invoice receipt-MM) in VF31. The thing is client suggested me to use the output type :RD04 for this process. But the output type RD04 is getting accepted for the intercompany billing in VF31, which means the output type RD04 is wrong?
Gurus please let me know whether IDOC for intercompany credit and debit memo is possible. If it is possible, Please let me know the correct output type should be used to execute it correctly in VF31, so that I can able to run the transaction code :WE02 for IDOC successfully.
Inputs would be highly appreciated and helpful.
    Regards
    Mani.

    Gurus,
When I have clicked the error "G/l account 100000 1007 does not exist"
    Diagnosis.
A line item is to be posted to the non existant G/l account 100000 in company code 1007.
    System response.
The invalid account number is rejected.
    Procedure:
If you have entered the account number, correct your entry. If the account number was rejected when the system created automatic postings , check which postings it may concern by means of the business transaction. contact the system administrator to correct the account determination for the affected transaction.

  • Credit and Debit memo - Type of Billing

    Hello Friends,
Credit and Debit memo creation can reference a Billing doc or Sales Order or it can be created directly.
So, is credit memo or debit memo Order-Related billing ?
Can i confirm that because Credit memo correct values , it does not generally correct any stock, even in Returns scenario?
    regards
    John

Credit memo and debit memo are generally created either referencing to a biling document or without any reference. Yes, these are order related billing documents. It does not have any inventory impact. It only have accounting impact.
When it comes to returns scenario, it is a bit different. It depends on the business situation. There are a few ways that you can handle returns. Your customer returns the goods back to you for one of the reasons (over delivery, quality problem, damaged stock etc). You will take it back to your stock. Your inventory increases. Then, you cannot create a order related credit memo. Instead you create a return document referencing to the billing document, then do a post goods receipt (delivery document) and issue a credit memo to the customer. So, inventory is impacted and this type of credit memos (or returns credit as usually referred to) are delivery related.
Else, you will want your customer to destroy the stock (which your customer reports a damage and bringing it back to your plant costs you more). Then, you will only issue a credit memo to your customer. You will not receive any stock and the stock is not impacted. So, this type of documents become your order related billing docs... Here there is no impact on inventory and only financial impact is seen.
    Hope it helps...

  • Confused on 'Credit memo''Debit memo''Credit/Debit'....

    Hi Experts,
I found i am confused on Credit memo/Debit memo or Credit/Debit in SD. And read few articles and found more confused...
I read below 2 articles regarding the 'Credit' and 'Debit', seems what they said are not match each other....this confused me...
    Article A:
"A transaction that reduces Amounts Receivable from a customer is a credit memo. For eg. The customer could return damaged goods.  A debit memo is a transaction that reduces Amounts Payable to a vendor because; you send damaged goods back to your vendor."
    Article B:
"Suppose a simple sales transaction like an invoice is being made, then the system needs to identify the revenue account it should credit and the cash or customer account it should debit."
My understanding from Article A is:
            For Return damaged goods:
Credit memo reduces Amounts Receivable from Customer.
Debit memo reduces Amounts Payable to a Vendor.
My understanding from Article B is:
After the goods is sold to customers:
Normally the invoice is raised to the customer, then revenue account(Our company side?) should credit(means reduces?? if according to Article A)
what i thinking is that after the goods sold to customers, our revenue account should be increased, right, why here use 'Credit'????
Hope kindly help me, thank you very much!

    Hi Hoo Laa,
    Your statements are absolutely right.
Suppose we area a seller and our customer is a buyer.
We sold the goods to customer and due to some reason customer return these goods (Bad quality etc), suppose before returning the goods we have already billed the customer
Now upon returning the goods, this is our responsbility to credited the customer account.
Just opposite in the debit memo, we have sold the goods 100$ per piece. Now after selling the goods, we and customer are agreed that the price should be 120$ per piece. Now we have to debited the customer account for 20$ per piece.
    Hope it clarify your doubt.

  • Debit Memo/ Credit Memo for incorrectly shipped items

I Understood this: Lets assume you have sold 100 PCs Of Material A ( DLX model), But Due to some human error you have shiped Materia A (VLX) model, which is having price greater than previous one.In that case you will raise Debit memo for that customer.
But what if the customer says that he doesn’t want to pay the difference?
    1. does he have to return the product back for exchange of the originally inquired product?
    2. is it the clients fault that we shipped the wrong product? and will take a hit for the loss?
q: what if the customer decides to exchange the product ? there will be an inward and outward deliveries created for the 2 products at the clients plant; and will this trigger creation of one credit memo (for returns, since exchange is technically a return) and one debit memo (corrected invoice)?? Or will it be a straight exchange?
Guru's please help me understand this, thanks

Seems to me, this was Hypothetical Question.
You created sales order, delivery,Billing for X material,
But during delivery you picked Y instead of X.
Normally to move the material from Factory to Gate--there will be different departments & no.of employees has been employed for this--But still there is a chance for manual mistake(very rare)
As i understood this question can be handled in two ways:(Client dependent)
1.Customer  not accepted this Y goods:
we cannot do returns with parent sales order--because we dont have a transaction in SAP  (with Y material)-So you need to run all sales transactions with Y material followed by returns.
    2.Customer Accepted Y material:
So here your actual inventory shows the variations.
So you cancel the parent delivery(so this X will be back into your inventory---if proceeding document exists-need to be cancelled)Change the parent sales order with Y material(you can cancel the parent sales order,Can create new one--it depends on client)
Again here the issue comes with Value variations:
Always you can raise a credit/Debit memo to adjust the receivables.

  • Difference between Subsequent credit and Credit memo

    Hi,
Please tell me what is differnece between Subsequent credit and Credit memo.
You shoud give me on business exmple
    Thanks and Regards
    Anil Patil

    Hi Anil,
    For CREDIT MEMO
A Credit Memo (short for "credit memorandum") is a commercial document issued by a seller to a buyer, listing the products, quantities and agreed prices for products or services the seller provided the buyer, but the buyer did not receive or returned. It may be issued in the case of damaged goods, errors or allowances. In respect of the previously issued invoice, a Credit Memo will reduce or eliminate the amount the buyer has to pay.
The Credit Memo usually contains: PO #, Date, Billing Address, Shipping Address, Terms of Payment, List of products with quantities and prices. Usually it references the original Invoice and sometimes states the reason for issue.
Credit Memos are often called Credit Notes or just Credits.
The seller usually issues a Credit Memo for the same or lower amount than the invoice, and then repays the money to the buyer or sets it off against a balance due from other transactions.
The term may also refer to the document provided by a bank to a depositor to indicate the depositor's balance is being increased because of an event other than a deposit, such as the collection by the bank of the depositor's note receivable.
SAP Difference between Credit memo and subsequent debits/credits
Subsequent Debits/Credits are used in cases where the quantity is in the original invoice is to remain the same.
    Example:
    PO 10 - $10
    GR 10 - $10
    LIV 10 - $11 (Logistics Invoice Verification)
The vendor invoice is more than that in the Purchase Order.
In order to correct, the Vendor may send in another invoice for the Increased amount
or a credit memo for the reduce amount.
If you approve of the price increase,
post the subsequent invoice received as a Subsequent Debit Invoice.
If it is a credit memo that has been received for reducing $1 of invoice price,
then post the credit memo as Subsequent Credit.
This would retain the quantity but reduce the amount.
Subsequent Debit/Credit is for the case when the credit is not for the full amount
eg. if the Vendor decided to credit & only the $1 overcharged.
Credit memo is for the credit of the full amount and value.
    Regards,
    VB
