  • Can SQL Dev Data Modeler be used to reverse engineer Windchill PDMLink

Does anyone know if SQL Developer Data Modeler be used to reverse engineer Windchill PDMLink Oracle database? I need to get the DDL and ERDs from Windchill PDMLink.
Can SQL Developer Data Modeler be used to reverse engineer object oriented Oracle databases?

SQL Developer Data Modeler be used to reverse engineer Windchill PDMLink Oracle databaseprobably you mean Windchill PDMLink tables in Oracle database - yes, it's possible to get the structure of tables.
Can SQL Developer Data Modeler be used to reverse engineer object oriented Oracle databases? It's not clear for me - you can reverse engineer definition of object and collection types, definitions of tables and views including those that use object and collection types in their definition.
    You can try it.

  • Reverse engineer data model

I was trying to reverse engineer database information into a data model diagram in visio 2000.
I received the following error :
Encountered a fatal error during reverse engineer of information from database
    My Database version is
    Oracle9i Enterprise Edition 9.2.0.5.0 64bit
Is it true that Visio does not support Oracle 9i (as I was told) ? If so, is there any freeware on internet where I can do the same (reverse engineer)
    Thanks

You can use most any ERD product to reverse engineer an existing system: oracle designer, ERWin ,ER/Studio, etc....
But it is likely to be a very manual process.
If the application does not make use of database defined FK, UK, and PK then you will likely be forced into reading source and/or running traces on application processes to follow the DML.

  • Not able to see executions in operator - Reverse engineer problem

    Hi All,
I´m starting a new project, this is the situation. I've created the agent (physical and logical), it's running as a service (OPMN instance). When I execute the test, "Agent test Successfull". So I guess that is not the problem.
I'm creating a new model, I've already created the Data server (SQL server), connection test is Ok, I've also created the physical and Logical Schema. The problem is after creating a new model, when I select reverse engineer option, everything looks like that data is being correctly retrieve, however data do not appear in the model. When I go to the operator to check the log, nothing is there. Any idea?
    Thanks in advance,
    Gonzalo.-

Do you mean to to say that uou are not finding any infor about the reverse engineering process in Operator ?
If yes then please note Standard reverse engineering does not list down the operation performed in Operator.
If you are using some RKM then only it will display the steps performed in Operator

  • Import Meta Data from CSV - Export Meta Data to CSV

Ability to import meta data into selected images from CSV file containing a number of fields, one of which is file name. The other fields would be selected tags to import.
Import logic would be, Where file name in column 1 matches current selected filename, then take following fields 2, 3, etc and import into Bridge.
Export selected meta data from selected files to CSV to form reverse of above to allow edit of data in Excel etc.
Further enchancement on import would be to allow instead of just filename, but date/time range matching.
Logic would be, Where date/time in column 1 is within X hours of selected
image creation date/time then import following fields into image meta data.
Useful for example if you already have a GPS tracklog in CSV and want to try and update images with GPS. Assuming camera clock approx same as GPS clock.

The issue was within the .csv file.  There were duplicate records that were attempting to load as the ID value.  After deleting the duplicate records, the transformation file ran successfully.

  • Reverse engineer using DBMS_METADATA

    Hi,
Can I use DBMS_METADATA package to reverse engineer a scheduled job from the database. I tried running below statement but it only returns the first job no matter what I do:
    select JOB,WHAT,dbms_metadata.get_ddl('JOB',USER) FROM DBA_JOBS
I even used a where clause to make sure that I am using a specific job but the output remains same I mean I get statement generated only for first job.
    Any thought?

  • ANSI X12 meta data availability in conversion agent??

    Hello,
Is there a provision for availability of ANSI X12 meta data in SAP conversion agent. We are trying to process EDI orders using the X12 INDUSTRY standard. Please advise.
    -Kris

    hi,
SAP Conversion Agent together with SAP Net Weaver, enables  to automate complex integration activities for a multitude of data and document formats. These include unstructured and partially structured documents such as Office files, data streams, printing applications, and other application-specific formats.
Easily integrate unstructured and semi-structured data into SAP Net  Weaver Process Integration using the Conversion Agent.
Conversion Agent dynamically converts unstructured messages from   Microsoft Word,Excel,PDF plain text.
Semi-structured formats such as HL7,SWIFT,HIPA, ANSI X12 and COBOL to   PI understandable SOAP XML.
So that it helps to easily integrate the information need into the back-end systems. Conversion can also be used as the reverse process to convert from XML to unstructured or semi-structured formats

  • Catalog settings and meta data is there a better way.

    HI
I have adobe cs4 and light room 2.2 I do my editing in LR cropping exposure web galleries and so on on, thats all well and good but any modifications i make will not show up in the bridge unless i go into light room and apply save meta data to files. I have about 400 light room catalogs as I store the catalog in the folder that contains the original image. Is there a way to have light room automatically apply meta data changes to each catalog in stead of going to catalog settings or saving the meta data to the file. its a pain in the *** to have to go into a catalog and apply all those settings if i want to do some editing in the bridge

    > ...is there a better way ...
Might I humbly suggest that your multiple (400!!) catalog strategy is flawed? You have defeated the benefits of having a single database. (And those that argue a database is bad concept and a possible single point of failure are ... well ... simply wrong.)
Lr can automatically write XMP data so that Bridge can read it. But the reverse is not true. Any changes that Bridge/ACR make will have to be imported into Lr with manually initiation.
The point and beauty of Lr is that you make the majority of adjustments in Lr. It's possible to make adjustments in Bridge and have them imported into Lr but as you discovered it is not automatic. And your workflow choice makes it doubly (or 400 times) more troublesome.

  • Enquiry:  Any tool to reverse engineer an existing db schema in Oracle 8i

    Dear All,
Do you know whether Oracle SQL Developer Data Modeler (3.1.1.703) supports Oracle 8i? If not, is there any tool that can be used to reverse engineer an existing database schema in Oracle 8i?
    Your early reply is appreciated.
    Thanks a lot.
    LAWRENCE CHOW

That's a pity. The initial version of Data Modeler used to support import from Oracle 8i.
You could try setting up an ODBC connection to your database and using the JDBC tab (rather than the Oracle tab) when entering the Connection details into Data Modeler.
Alternatively, if you can get hold of an earlier version of Data Modeler (e.g. version 3.0 or earlier), you could try this (and if it works you could then upgrade your model to the current version).

  • Reverse engineer Toplink mapping to a ERM diagram

    Hi,
We have a Toplink mapping for our application, the problem is that in the database no foreign keys relationship are defined, thus the relations
are only in our Toplink model and not in our database. Id like to create a ERM model with for instance the new "Oracle SQL Developer Data Modeler".
Is there a way do reverse engineer a Toplink model to a ERM diagram?

    Hi Jonas,
unfortunately there is no support for Toplink.

    Please help ?

  • Reverse Engineer in models doesnt give the right structure from Essbase

    Hi,
I have created Hyperion essbase(source)/Oracle(target) Data sources,Physical Schemas,Logical Scemas and have linked them with the context.
When I create a model - I hadTechnology as Essbaseand the right physical schema -
In the reverse engineer tab, I have correctly selected RKM Hyperion Essbase,Types pf objects is table.I had set True to multipls columns and had given the data column as Accounts - and the data column members as "Sales","Cogs"
Now when I reverse engineer, I assumed the columns should be populated as (dim1,dim2,Sales,Cogs) - But what i get is (dim1,dim2,Account,Sales,Cogs,Data) - The account member and data also comes along in the column. Any idea where i am missing out this?
Eventually when i execute the interface, I am ending up in an error "com.hyperion.odi.essbase.ODIEssbaseException: com.hyperion.odi.essbase.ODIEssbaseException: Invalid column in the source"
    Please share your thoughts...
    Leo jose.

    Hi,
Please ignore, it is just that when a model is reverse engineered, it is having the old in memory and the new changes made in the model is getting appended along with the old dimension information creating some confusion.just did it with a different application and is giving desired results.I asked and I answered :)

  • EBS reverse engineer table/view names

In SQL developer I connected to EBS and created some hierarchies from these tables - fnd_flex_value_hierarchies, fnd_flex_values_tl,FND_FLEX_VALUE_CHILDREN_V
Now I am using the trying to reverse engineer in ODI using the EBS knowledge module, but I can't find these tables.
...I was told by an EBS person I should be using the above tables to build my account hierarchy...is this correct? Or are there other tables I should be using?
    Thank you,
    Jz

    Hi Frank,
I assume you imported your Table definitions from a DDL file.
Column datatypes appear in dialogs in the way you have described if Domains are set up during the import and the Columns are associated with these Domains.
You can change this by opening the Preferences dialog (select Preferences from the Tools menu) and selecting Data Modeler/DDL in the tree.
On the Data Modeler/DDL page of the Preferences you should unset the option "Create Domains During Import".

  • Meta Data Lun Corrupted!!!!

    Hello All,
Our XSan went down today and upon rebooting the metadata controller it was discovered that the lun that contained the meta data had become corrupt. Whereas the two data luns showed up as CVFS format and had labels the metadata lun prompted an "unreadable, eject initialize ignore" message at startup and in the XSan admin was listed as unlabeled. It was listed as "unknown" format and unlabeled when listed with the other volumes in the command line.
How do I repair this lun? When I try to use CVFSCK command it complains that the lun "mylun2" which was the name of the corrupted lun is unavailable. Is there a disk utility of sorts that repairs a volume (lun) that is CVFS file system?
I see a few command line options but all come with serious warnings. So, I wish to seek guidance first.
    A few more things.
    1. the metadata lun is a Raid 1 two disk mirror.
    2. the backup controller had not been updated from 1.1 to 1.2 and had taken over metadata controlling earlier this week before the first crash which was solved with a restart and the main metadata controller resumed responsibility. both controllers now have 1.2. I intend to have a conversation with the guy who only updated the one controller.
    3. both meta data controllers are running 10.4.3 server
    4. restarting all of the components of the san did not resolve the issue.
I really don't want to tell this client that all their data on the San is completely lost. They are a very good client and very good people. Any help that you could give would be THOROUGHLY appreciated.
    Thank you for your time,
    James L. McMahan Jr.
    G5 1.8   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

Uh... okay. If you have a better solution, Will, go for it. The fact of the matter, though, is if your metadata is lost and you don't have a backup (bad idea), you don't have any other option but to start over. There isn't some magic utility to run to make things all better again.
Xsan (or StorNext) is a cluster file system-based SAN, which is dependant on metadata stored on an Xserve RAID. Having redundant controllers isn't going to help with redundancy of his metadata -- it's going to help with redundancy of the controllers. It looks like he had an issue with the primary controller, which failed over to the secondary correctly. Why his primary controller failed, I do not know -- I haven't seen any logs (and even if I had, they might not be that much help to me at this juncture, anyway). The next problem he had was his secondary controller didn't have the same version of Xsan as the primary, which probably made matters worse.
At this point, I don't know what's up with his controllers, but he is stuck with a metadata LUN without a label on it, which is worthless to him. That's rare and unfortunate, but that's why you backup your data. If the metadata is lost, your data isn't accessible. A SAN without a backup isn't any better than a RAID set -- or even a single drive.
Will, while I appreciate your desire to help people, you can't always pull a rabbit out of a hat. Probably the reason why my response is what is a standard response from Apple is because it's the truth. I've put up and maintained many Xsan environments and serve as a Senior Storage Engineer for a large company. I know what I'm talking about, but I am not trying to claim that I know all. If there is someone out that who has a better solution, this is the forum to offer those suggestions, where James can be helped and the rest of us can maybe learn something we didn't know before.
But criticizing me for my response isn't going to help him, either. If you have a better solution, speak up. Otherwise, can it.

  • Designer 9i reverse engineer my database

I have Designer 9i with repository on Oracle 9i server.
I would like to reverse engineer my database from Oracle 8.17 server on a different computer - connection.
How do I do that? Beging from scratch, what do I need, do I need to create new Application system? I probably would need one... Can I connect this specific applicatino system to a specific database?
How to get the tables (and other objects)?
What tool do I use? Database design transformer says - I don't have any entities in a.s.
Entity relationship diagramer - that would be for designing probably, not for reverse engineering.
    Please help
    Thanks

    Rok
You can do everything you have asked.
The best way is to do the following:
    - Create an application system and name it appropriately.
    - Use the Design Editor tool
    - On the menu there is a option to "Design Capture" (this is reverse engineering). The menu path is Generate/Capture Design of/Server Model
    - This will ask you to enter the connect string for the db you want to capture
    - Then you will be presented with the objects in that db and you can choose which ones you want to capture
The rest is simple from there.
To help you I would suggest you go to the URL http://otn.oracle.com/products/designer/demos.htm on this site and at the bottom of the
page is a demo section on Server Design and Generation. Take a look at the one titled: Capturing Database Designs in the Design Editor
This will demo the step above. The other demos may also be useful as you want to change the data model or generate new schemas
