Reverse profile for sRGB?

I realised that the color photos I work on (on my color calibrated system) look different to people on their monitors (most viewers/users are not using calibrated monitors).
Ok, first let me clarify, that I am using calibration not for web view but for my prints to look as I expect them.
That is what brings up this question - so for web view to look like they look on calibrated monitors, what should be done?
1. Simply tag with sRGB
2. Convert to sRGB (for browsers that don't respect profiles)
3. 1 or 2 will not work. A "reverse" profile is needed (?)
Goal: Make the colors as they appear on a profiled monitor to look the same on a non-calibrated monitor. this may mean two separate images?
Example: I order a "blue" shirt from Amazon, it turned out to be a very different color!
What is better for online shopping? I figured, stores don't really bother, and they are addressing masses with sRGB. Even then, using a calibrated monitor for online purchase, will be a bad idea. Or not?

That will never happen, ever. You have no control of what your images look like on the uncalibrated monitors of 98% of web surfers. None.
The solution is very simple: Convert (a copy) of your images to sRGB, and make sure you embed the sRGB profile when you save the PNG or JPEG image.
This is most easily, safely and speedily done if you use "Save for Web", making sure the Embed Document Profile" is checked in the "Save for Web" dialog box.

Recommended sRGB profile for export - use in browsers

Is there any recommended sRGB profile for use in internet presentation? Below you find the same picture displayed in chrome (left) and internet explorer (right). Colors look quite different, the chrome version appears to be much more natural, the saturation of the ie-version seems to be higher. I know that color management capabilities of different browsers are different. Is there ICC profile recommended that does not show these effects?
The picture was generated using the LR export function. File Format JPEG, Colorspace sRGB.

I see you have a wide gamut monitor...which means the first thing you must learn is to forget IE and deny its very existence . It's useless.
There is only one sRGB, that's not your problem. The problem is IE not converting that sRGB source profile to the monitor profile for display.
They botched it completely with IE. Instead of a normal color management chain - converting source data to your monitor profile - IE converts everything to sRGB and passes that on to the display. What a brilliant idea that was...this way they made absolutely sure, with 100% certainty, that it will never display correctly - especially vividly demonstrated on a wide gamut monitor. Yes, that was sarcasm.
A wide gamut display requires fully color managed software to work as intended. You also need a valid monitor profile for that software to use. These are absolute requirements, no exceptions.
You need a web browser with full color management in all scenarios. The only one that qualifies is Firefox, with color management set to mode 1. This assigns sRGB to all untagged material, honors all embedded profiles, and converts that to your monitor profile for display. No other browser delivers on all counts.

Color profiles for I photo books

Is there a desired color profile to use for printing books with i photo
My images are currently adobe-rgb. jpegs brought in from CS
When I print the images thru CS they look great.
When i print them thru I photo book or the PDF they look very dark and muddy...and would assume the same of the book printing online.
any ideas on how to get the best print.
Is there a color profile availabe from the online book printers or are we just winging it
Also tried converting one page to S-RGB Still Muddy / dark thru i photo book
and PDF Print. And just fine thru CS

Though I did go back and lighten my images. Also
Ran color synch utility, which fixed 11 corrupt color profiles.(none of the 11 profiles pertained to i photo)
I guess I am afraid to use pref setter,, to set the key embed color profile.
Confused as to what that means??? Does that mean that all my CS Adobe-RGB jpegs will keep their color profile???
Also implanted one image as an SRGB vs the rest which will all be AdobeRGB
Oddly my color management in CS is almost Flawless. Yet, get me out of CS and I am completely lost!!!! Complicated stuff
Toad, I did want to pass on that AdobeRGB 1998 is a much more robust color profile then SRGB especially when it come to printing on Epson. It might be worth experimenting with and if you really want to get into it there is also
Pro photo RGB which is Huge color space, but a beast to work with

Choosing Color Profiles for Images Created on Film

I just finished sending feedback to Adobe on one of its tutorials. The following is a copy of my message explaining my present predicament.
<< I have scanned film negatives and positive film transparencies dating back to the 1950's .I was the creator of most of these images but I do not remember the make or model of the cameras I was using at any point in time prior to 1974 and they all lack metadata. Prior to 2000 I used iPhoto and PS Elements for scanning, toning and development. Thus I can only guess what color profile I should use. I want to create TIFFS that will serve a dual purpose: exporting two formats, one for electronic sharing and the other for printing. On the Adobe CC, if I guess wrong, LR 5.6 64bit crashes immediately. Prior stand alone versions of LR and CS6 let you know that you had a color inconsistency, but they did not crash when you had made a wrong choice between srgb and ProPhoto. ACC gives me more options, but no warnings unless I am missing something your Help Files should contain.>>

Which Color profile for softprofing to print to Apple's book services?

I'm looking for a simple, specific and official answer as to which specific ColorSync profile should I choose for 'Onscreen Proofing' in Aperture? My intended output is Apples Print Services (Hardcover book).
I've crawled the web looking for this simple answer with no luck.
It seems to me that this profile (ie an accurate characterization of Apple's Printing Services) should be at the top of the list (in View/Proofing Profile/). Instead all I could find are discussion forums which hint or guess as to which profile to use.
Alternatively. It should be documented in the manual or the "How to create great looking books?" articles something like: "If you are going to order a book from Apple, then choose the sRGB profile for onscreen proofing. Apple's services are calibrated to this profile and guarantee consistent results". <-- Something like this appears nowhere!

In a colour matching conversion, you have a source colour space (in this case, your ICC type MNTR Monitor profile for your RGB working space) and a destination colour space (in this case an unknown ICC profile, probably of type PRTR Printer).
Your aim in the ICC architecture is to capture into and correct in as large a source colour space as is necessary to contain the colours you can render on the largest colour spaces of displays, printers and presses. This excludes sRGB as source by definition.
The sRGB colour space is the colour space of an HDTV cathode ray tube. This colour space cannot hold colours a lot of output devices can render, including the pure cyan of an ISO 12647 offset printing condition on art paper, and for inkjet sRGB is even worse as source.
Open the Apple ColorSync Utility, select sRGB in the RGB profiles list, click the Disclosure (triangle) icon in the CIELa*b plot, and select Hold for Comparison. Then pick an inkjet profile in the RGB profiles list or a large gamut offset profile in the CMYK profiles list, and turn the 3D graphic to see what can be matched directly and what can be matched only by reshaping the colours.
PDF printing masters can either have only the source ICC profile(s) embedded or both the source and destination ICC profiles. In the former case, the colour matching is done at runtime and you have to wait to see what prints.
In the latter case, you embed the destination ICC profile as OutputIntent and submit PDF/X-3. Since you are allowed to embed either type PRTR Printer or type MNTR Monitor profiles as OutputIntent, and since both are bidirectional for printing as well as for proofing, you have a contract proofing condition.
But in order to work with PDF/X-3 you need to know enough about rendering intents and gamut mapping behaviours that you don't set the wrong rendering intent per object in the page. So a runtime rendering workflow ensures that you get to draw to the maximum gamut available in the printing service, without giving you advanced controls.

My screen contrast has gone awry and the ColorSync Utility is unable to fix the problem. In searching the wisdom of the web, I found a response from 2009 on another forum, which referenced this forum. But the thread is gone. The information was in regard to the Color Profiler. Can anyone help? Has anyone had to deal with this? I found a lot of people looking to fix this, but not a lot of follow-up replies with answers. I have tried reinstalling the file from a back-up and re-booting, but to no avail. Some have suggested a problem with the Epson software. But without any detail, I don't know what to look to change. Any help, advice, cures, etc. would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Sorry, I thought you asked what course of action to take.
It means the data for that "tag" in the profile is not the size expected - I know, that's obvious too. The 'dmnd' tag contains the manufacturer's description.

You could try opening it in ColorSync Utility and editing the tag.

CMYK color profiles for China

I am using CS2 Indesign and Photoshop 7 on a PC. I have to prepare color
photos for a printer located in China. They want all images to be CMYK
.tiff.
I now have an assortment of about 100 images from various sources around the
world, there are .tif, .jpg. .bmp, and .psd. All of them appear to be RGB.
There are images with: 1) no color profile, 2) sRGB IE60966-2.1, and Adobe
RGB 1998.
I have been converting these to .tif (and using one dpi/pixel resolution for
all images).
Do I just select/save as color mode CMYK? Or are there special
settings/profiles I need to know about for China? My Chinese language
skills are way, way far worse than the printer's English skills. I was
hoping that someone in this group would be familiar with RGB to CMYK for
foreign printers.

Sorry for the confusion -- I meant "one" not in the number one -- but I mean
that I am using the same resolution for all images. "One" in this case was
to mean: "singular."
I was wondering if there was a commonly accepted CYMK color profile that is
preferred by book printers in China.

Color Profile for SnapshotUtilsEx?

I'm using SnapshotUtilsEx to get a pixel version of document spreads and pages. This works very well, but I can't figure out what color space the received image data is in. There seems to be no obvious way to find the attached ICC profile for the generated data.
So please what is the recommended way to get a correct color profile that I can use with the received image data?

Since you say the printer "prints in color profile sRGB", it sounds as though you should save your images tagged with the sRGB IEC61966-2.1 color profile.
If I'm understanding you correctly "Lab" does not mean "print lab", it's an acronym that describes an alternate color space for representing an image, fundamentally different from RGB. Print houses normally don't expect an image to be sent to them in Lab mode.

Lightroom 3 DNG profiles for K5

I tried to find DNG profiles for my new K5 on the net, but I failed. Are there any available or do I have to wait for the next Lightroom update?
Up to now I can only choose "embedded".

There you are then...no calibration available for un supported formats. If the camera shoots natively in DNG you will get all the benefits of RAW except for the calibration as none will be available until Adobe builds some. Therefore I assume LR is using the camera embedded sRGB or Adobe RGB space used for the jpg. The great advantage of native DNG is that at least LR will read it even before the camera is formally supported, however until the camera is fully supported some things such as calibration and I assume lens calibration won't be available.
You could also rewrite the camera name tag in the RAW files (using ExifEditor or similar) to a Pentax camera supported by Adobe and then you will be able to use the calibrations built for those cameras, not a perfect solution but always worth a try, just make sure you keep copies of the unchanged files.
Hopefully the K5 will be supported in LR 3.3 otherwise you will have to wait until LR 3.4 for full support.

Color profile for print

Do I need color profile for print taged in the file?
I need to print some photos at LAB (photo lab) and they print in color space sRGB.
I have created through Adobe Raw a JPEG file, which has untagged color profile.
Is it necessary to have a color profile for a print at photo lab tagged in the file or better not?

Did you tried FND_GLOBAL.APPS_INITIALIZE package to set the application context for the session.
After setting this, try assigning the profile values inside the PLSQL code unit, not in the declaration part.
Try this and let me know if it works.

Color profile for export in Aperture 3.0.3

What is the best color profile for exporting in aperture 3.0.3 (specially, if the pictures are used for stock). I normally use the export version TIFF or PNG original. Is ADOBE 1998 or sRGB or something else? In Photoshop I have sRGB.

Colour Profiles don't have a best one. It is a way of matching colour produced by one type of device so that it is reproduced by another type reasonably well. Allan

web or weblogic.xml files on your RPS needs to define for each case like if inbound port is 7011 then send it to PIA:7011 and http and the same for 7012 then send it to PIA:7012 and https. in the webprofile configuration for your RPS profile, set both https and http relative URLS. I believe you could start using this info and I am sure you could figure out the rest.

IOS 6.1.4 released for iPhone 5 Adds an Updated Audio Profile for Speakerphone

Apple has just released an Over the Air update for the iPhone 5. It seems to only provide an updated audio profile for the speaker phone. Nothing else listed in the change log.
I would assume that there will be an iTunes downloadable update available shortly.

It obviously is because you didnt understand. The iphone 4's last update to IOS 6.1.3 in some cases caused the phones speakers to not work (in which this happened to mine and a few people I know) which some people got rid of their phones. HENCE the AUDIO UPDATE that they recently posted but only iPhone 5 can download the update. That is my problem. I have alot of apple products diesel vdub and have had apple for a long time but I can't seem to understand why they would do this and I posted this in hopes to find more people that have had this issue and if they did anything to help fix it this issue. Thank you for your concern though.

Can't see the installed icc profiles for my paper in print module

I have downloaded and installed the icc profiles for my favourite Canson and Crane Museo papers on my new Macbook Pro but they don't show up in the options box in the LR 4 print module. Is there another step I have missed? Thanks in advance.

Where did you install the profiles? They should go into
Library/Colorsync/Profiles in your home folder or at the root level of your
hard disk. If you put it in that folder in your home folder, they show up
in user, if you put them in the root Library folder, they show up in
"Computer" in Colorsync utility
