Reverse y axis columns

Hi.
I'm using numbers to create a chart for my website alexa rank. x axis is dates; like september 13 2011. and y axis is site rank in each day. as you know, when rank number is lower its better, so I need to reverse the y axis columns. how can I do this?

Numbers always graphs with values ascending toward the top of the chart, so you'll need to do a minor fiddle on the data to make the graph do otherwise.
Here's an example showing alexa's rank in an imagined list of 10 sites.
Columns C and D contain the same formula, but with one argument changed.
C: =RANK(B2,B,0)
D: =RANK(B2,B,1)
Each is filled down its respective column.
The third argument controls the direction of the ranking. The second (in column D) is selected as the set of values to be charted.
In the Chart Inspector, click on Axis, then uncheck "Show Value Labels" in the Value Axis (Y) pop-up menu.
Replace the now missing values with a descending list as shown, typed into a text box. You'll need to use the Text inspector to adjust the space between lines to align the numbers with the grid lines on the chart.

Reverse Y-Axis sequence on Analyzer graph

We would like to report rankings, 1-10 on an analyzer graph. Not a problem, however, we want 1 at the top of the y-axis, and 10 at the bottom (1=best). Is there are way to reverse the sequence of the y-axis...it comes out 10, 9, 8 ..1 top to bottom, and I don't see anywhere to reverse within Analyzer.Thanks!

A solution consists to put a negative sign to the member that is used for ranking, in your Essbase outline (To avoid a problems, you can create and USE for ranking a SHARED MEMBER which will be the negative equivalent of the account member used originaly for ranking). Then, you will able to applicate the ranking using the new negative shared member account and by selecting the BOTTOM 10 members. At last, change the negative sign to positive one in Analyzer Analysis Tools Manager. I Hope that this will help you...Regards

SSRS 2008 R2 Column Graph, Scalar Axis, Columns Take more than 1 Category

In SSRS 2008 R2, I have created a stacked column graph with two data columns, using a scalar axis with dates. If I have two columns next to one another, everything is rendered fine. If all of my columns have space between them, then the columns
will take more than just the day that they fit.

After testing the issue in my own environment, I can reproduce it. Just as you said, if there are two columns next to each other, then all the columns will be displayed on their own location; if all the columns in the chart exist space between each other, then
they will expand as wide as possible until there is no place to display all columns. This is by design.
Besides, if in the second scenario, we can manually add one record in the dataset, and then hide the additional record in the chart to work around this issue. For more details, please see:
Add one new record with adjacent date of MyDate field and unique value of MyStackedValue field in the dataset as below:
INSERT INTO #Temp (ID, MyDate, MyStackedValue)
VALUES (100, '11/24/2013', 1000)
Right-click the series to open the Series Properties dialog box, select Visibility in the left pane.
Using the expression below to control the series Visibility:
=iif(Fields!MyStackedValue.Value="1000",true,false)

Reverse y axis in graph

How do I reverse the plot on a graph without using negative numbers?

I'm plotting data points, not a function so the Grapher.app isn't much help to me, but thanks for telling me about it (might be useful later). Having the y axis reversed isn't as important to me as having the x and y axis crossing at zero. I don't mind having the downward values as minus (as is normal), but now if I plot it the x and y axis don't cross at zero!! Surely this is a basic feature that should be available?
If possible maybe you could let me know of any other tricks or overrides that might be useful?

Thanks for your suggestion, I already tried that method, and as I said before my main problem is the x and y axis not crossing at zero (I'm studying engineering so they are very fussy about these details, and personally I'm a bit of a perfectionist), also manually putting in the x axis for 50+ graphs (all with varying scales) is something I'd rather avoid!

Reverse Chart Label Column

Hello,
I have a numbers spreadsheet that contains search engine rankings. The lower the number the better the result (#1 is highest of course) and I am trying to figure out how to display the data in a line graph where the left hand vertical labels go from lowest to to highest. They way it is by default, as rankings improve the line goes down making it appear as if performance is dropping.

I would reverse the ranking scheme so that #1 becomes the largest numbered item. Once plotted, you can overlay the X-Axis labels with a scale that has "1" at the top and however large a number you want at the bottom.

Reversing Order in columns.

Having entered details in a spreadsheet 3 columns x 1000 rows, I found I need to reverse the order of the columns. I need to do this without sorting them, as the listed items are not in numerical or alphabetical order. eg.

I'm not sure I understand what you're saying here. The new column can be inserted anywhere. Numbers always sorts Rows, based on the content of one or more columns. Here's a copy of your original table (Table 1), with four duplicates, to each of which a single column has been added.
After adding the column and finning in the numbers, each of the copies was sorted descending on its added column. As can be seen, the results were the same for each table.

Change gearing sign (reverse slave axis)

Hello,
I am building a precision winding machine: the mater motor controls a cylinder and the slave motor movese the head with the wire. The objective is to wind the wire in a 3d helix. I am using a cRIO 9022 with two NI 9512 drivers.
The problem is that I need to be able to change the gearing sign, so that I can do clockwise and counterclockwise helixes but always move the master motor (and the cylinder) in the same direction (the winding machine is built so that the wire should only be pulled in one direction).
I have tried reversing the sign of the numerator in the gearing VI to get the slave motor to move in reverse but this does not seem to work. The only solution I have found is to reverse the motor phase by swapping the A and Abar wires in the 9512 driver.
I can attach a copy of the project if needed.

Looking at the SoftMotion Multi-Axis Gearing example (Function Block or Express VI versions), I do see the numerator with a negative value and the slave axis then moves in the opposite direction from the master axis. I would expect this to work with motors as well as the simulated axes I'm looking at.
Some questions:
Are you using SoftMotion? Which version of the software are you using?
Are you trying to change the gearing during operation, or do you set a ratio and run with it through the full operation?
It might be useful to see the project, as you offered.

Regarding reversing Siebel datastores-Column Datatypes multiplied by 4

Hi,
I am trying to reverse a table from Siebel. I am using no RKM. But for my surprise except number and date all other datatype values are getting multiplied by 4.
For eg: Char(1) in db is reversed as Char(4)
varchar2(100) in db is reversed as varchar2(400)
It is Siebel based on Oracle db.

Hi,
It is an issue with drivers. Database I am using is 11g and ODI standard comes with 10g drivers.
Solution:
1)Download ojdbc5.jar and ojdbc5_g.jar if your jdk is 1.5 and ojdbc6.jar and ojdbc6_g.jar if your jdk is 1.6.
2)Replace ojdbc14.jar with these. Dont keep ojdbc14.jar in the ODI folder.
3)Close all ODI applications and reopen.
4)Go to topology and test any of the Physical topology, when a window pops up to test click on details and see whether the driver version is reflection as 11.<version>.
Be sure of 3 dimensional matrix i.e. database, jdk and drivers.

Reversing an axis

I need to make a log scale graph, but my x axis has to go from 1000 to 0 instead of 0 to 1000. Can someone help me with this?

select the graph, then select the menu item "Arrange > Flip Horizontally"
I hope this helps. You can remove the axis labels by changing the settings in the Graph Inspector.

Why doesn't the Crop tool allow me to reverse the mouse axis?

When using the crop tool every axis is backwards! I know I'm supposed to move the photo, not the crop window, But for me this is not a matter of "correct" or "best practice", some people's brains do not work this way. I have been using lightroom for more than a year, and it still feels absolutely wrong every time. Please please please, I beg you, provide a reverse mouse axis checkbox.
I love Lightroom so much. Please help me...

The brain is incredibly flexible. But some people are left handed, some people are right handed. Some people have different dominant eyes, legs, arms.. etc. Part of learning a process is how it has been performed in the past, but another large part is the fastest and most reliable synapse. If a process "just feels wrong" that means my brain has already been trained or was wired a certain way to begin with.
The point of design is to create an intuitive interface that not only doesn't interfere, but enhances use of the interface. If I have to re-train my brain to work the way the tool wants me to think, then it is not as successful as it could be!
If you google: "Lightroom crop tool backwards" there are quite a few results with many people asking the same question.
All it needs is a preference item that reversed x and y direction for the crop tool and said: Crop Tool: Reposition the crop window/Reposition the photograph [x] [ ]

Not Able to View data after reverse engineering

Hi All,
I have created an XML dataserver and tested it sucessfully. Created a physical and logical Schema and defined appropriate context for this.
Now in the xml model i am also able to successfully reverse engineer the columns, but when i am viewing the data, it is giving the error:-
Suppose i have given a physical schema- BUSINESSUNIT
java.sql.SQLException: You already have a schema opened on this file with another name BUSIn(it is referring to another logical schema which i cant find any reference to)
How do i resolve this error?

X-Axis - Date Format in MM/DD

Hello All,
I'm a beginner to Design Studio. We are in DS 1.2.
Our requirement is to display date in MM/DD (06/09) format on X-Axis.
Presently, the date is in M/D/YYYY format. (6/9/2014).
Our Chart Type - Dual Axis-Column Combination.
Any help is much appreciated.

How can I show all results from my DB in reverse row order?

So if I have three rows in the database, called John, Steve,
Tom, if you usually display all results from a database to a web
page, you will get just this order. I have found order by SQL
syntax, but this orders numerically or alphabetically. How can I
order the table contents backwards so that the rows wil read Tom,
Steve, John?

You misunderstood Joe's answer. You don't have to know any of
that. First
and Last were names Joe chose for the columns holding the
first and last
name. Since you mentioned first names as your values, he used
First (his
first name column) to order by.
In order to sort something, you have to know what it is
you're sorting.
Since you're unwisely using SELECT *, I'll make up column
names for you.
SELECT AB, BC, CD, DE
FROM HCT122
ORDER BY AB DESC
Now all my records come back in reverse order by column AB.

X-axis values on Custom charts

Hi,
I have a Custom chart with the Pen Type as Line.
If I plot a numerical values as the X-axis, the X-axis ranges do not come as expected.
e.g. If my data comes as shown below and I am plotting column A on the X-axis, then the
X-axis labels would read as 6,8,5,4,3.

When I plot a Line Chart with the same data, the X-axis labels come properly in order(3,4,5,6,8).
If I do an explicit sort on the X-axis column, then the Custom Chart gets plotted correctly, but the requirement is such that I cannot do an explicit sort on the dataset.
Can anybody help me out on this?

The chart will plot them in data set order, so that is what you need to address. If your dataset is coming from an SQLQuery then do your sorting in the query or procedure. For non-sql results consider using the GenericSortFilter.xsl as an InlineTransform in your query template, or the sort filter action block in BLS if your chart is being fed by an XacuteQuery.
