activation of failure cost in REM with Rework

Hello PP experts ,
Please let me know How to activate the failure cost ( FCOST) in REM scenario.
We have a scenario, where we want to start failure cost accounting in REM.
The production person is using MFBF for production confirmation.
In MFBF, the production person will do the confirmation under rework and then the same material no will appear in FCOST for further work.
Here in FCOST, you can confirm the same as scrap OR good ( from rework).
Waiting for your reply.

Dear Mr.Ravindra,
Do you want to track the amount for the extra activities done for a material apart
from the planned activities?
Can you explain me,what's the meaning for Failure cost?

Yes , you are right. I want to track the extra material and extra activities required for manufacturing.
These are the activities , which are additional from the planned ones.
This will be considered as a failure cost.

Ravindra,
I have not configured, but here is the theory behind this, Hope this helps
Making Settings for Failure Cost Processing ...
Use
A few basic settings need to be made before you can use the functions in failure cost processing.
For production orders, carry out the step Activating Failure Cost Processing for Production Orders.
For repetitive manufacturing, carry out the step Activating Failure Cost Processing for Repetitive Manufacturing.
To control the valuation of rework quantities, carry out the step Settings for Failure Cost Processing. These settings are optional.
The step User-Defined Error Management enables you to customize how messages are output in the valuation of failure cost documents. These settings are optional.
Prerequisites
For the failure cost cockpit and for reporting, activate the BAdI FCO_COCKPIT_FUNCT.
Production Orders
For confirmations, activate the BAdI WORKORDER_CONFIRM with the implementation FCO_CREATE_DOCUMENT.
For processing rework quantities, activate the BAdI WORKORDE_REWORK with the implementation FCO_GET_REWORK_QUANT.
Repetitive Manufacturing
For repetitive manufacturing, the following BAdIs must be activated:
FCO_CO_FUNCTIONS
FCO_CUSTOMER_SPECIF
Procedure To Activate Failure Cost Processing for Production Orders
Start transaction FCOACTIV_SFC Activate Failure Cost Processing.
Activate Failure Cost Processing for the required plants and order types.
Choose Save.
To Activate Failure Cost Processing for Repetitive Manufacturing
Start transaction FCOACTIV_REM Activate Failure Cost Processing.
Activate failure cost processing for the required plants.
Choose Save.
Settings for Failure Cost Processing
Performance considerations may make it advisable not to valuate rework quantities. In this step you can define how the rework quantities ? and consequently the failure cost documents ? are valuated.
Start transaction FCOSETTINGS Settings for Failure Cost Processing.
If you select the indicator No Valuation, the rework quantities are not valuated.
You can choose whether valuation is executed with or without planned scrap.
You can choose whether summarization is performed.
Choose Save.
User-Defined Error Management
For each message displayed in the valuation of failure cost documents, you can specify here whether the message is output with one of the following message types or is suppressed completely:
Information
Warning
Error
Termination
Start transaction OPR4_FCO User-Defined Messages: Failure Cost Cockpit.
The list shows the application area and the message text for each message.
You can assign the message types in the Message Type column using the input help.
Restore Default restores the original default settings.
You do not need to save the settings.
Result
If you have activated failure cost processing for production orders or repetitive manufacturing, then:
A failure cost document is generated for each scrap backflush. This document can be displayed and valuated in failure cost processing.
Rework processing is activated with the failure cost cockpit.
If you activate Failure Cost Processing, you cannot use the classical rework functionality for production orders.

  • REWORK IN REM

    Dear Gurus,
I am working in REM scenario and i have to map rework scenario in REM.
    Following is the scenario1:
    1) Final Assembly got rejected in quality inspection.
    2) Some rework is required on the Assembly to make it OK which requires some material and operation.
    ___Scenario2___
    1) Final Assembly got rejected in quality inspection and it is found that it cant be repaired rather it can be dismantle and some components can be retrieved so that they can be utilized in future for the regular production and to be sent back to store department.
Kindly give your valuable suggestions to map above mentioned scenario.
    With Regards.

    Hi,
Rework is can not be handled in REM like that in Descrete Manufacturing.
If you have consumed additional components then do the Component Backflush.
Same for additional activity in Activity Backflush in MFBF.
If not you can have a Rework Production Order created fo this to capture the addtionl components and Activities..
    Hope his helps,,
    Regards,
    Siva

  • REM and Re-work

    Hi all,
Is there any general flow for the re-work process for the REM scenario?

    Dear Bear,
1.For extra consumption of components use component backflush for posting the same.
2.For extra consumption of activities use activity backflush to post the activities.
But there wont be any direct linkage relating to rework for the product, you have to check with the report MF12 for different
bookings like assembly backflush, component backflush and activity backflush.
3.In case if this not accepted by the business, then going for production order without material using CO07 can be one more
method to cover the rework in REM scenario.
    Check and revert back.

  • REM: production tracking, rework, and in-process inspection

    Gurus,
I have three issues with REM, and I have my own views on them:
    1. Rework: In case of discrete manufacturing with the help of trigger functions we can generate an operation (in the same  order) or a rework order to cary out reprocessing. But in case of REM we cannot achieve this because there would be no order for inserting new operation and since it is REM we should not generate a new order. The only way is to manually backflush the activities and components (without any reporting point).
    2. Tracking: In case of discrete we have a set of system generated production orders through we can track the GRs, confirmations and issues. But in case of REM we can track those parameters only against cost collector. Only way to know the pending activities is to carry out backflushing against planned orders (which are subjected to reduction) and check pending GR/GI/Operations with the help of the remaining planned orders. Are there any standard reports on that?
    3. In-process Inspection: Can be achieved through inspection type 13 and lot needs to be generated through t-code MFPR.
Kindly let me know if my understandings are correct. Please let me know if there are other way arounds in Standard SAP.
    Thanks in advance!
    Snigdho

    HI
As In discrete there is no Rework order in REM.For Tracking you need to assign the Planned order to the Prdocution versions in Planning table thru MF50 and then Backflush against the planned order .Check report MCP6/ MCP8 for GR against planned orders.
Inprocess inspection can be done thru 13 and lot generation is done thru MFPR.
    hope it is useful.

  • Reworking Procedure in REM

    Dear Friends,
I have confusion regarding rework order in case of REM :
How GR to be done against Rework Order in case of REM because I dont have parent Order as it is in the case of Discrete & further what should be the settlement receiver in case of REM scenario which we use Main order as settlement receiver in discrete.
Pls. guide me the detailed reworking procedure for REM.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Tejas

    Dear Tejas Pujara,
    Here you have 2 options,
Either try to book the component's and the activities consumed using component & activity backflush
    respectively.
or else you have to go for a production order creation without material in CO07.Say you have made a GR
in backflush and found some problem in the quality check and you want to make some rework on the
same.So you can create a Prod.Order without material and assign the settlement rule and reciever
which can be a cost center or an order or the material. This you can decide as per your business
    requirement.
You can confirm the order and close it,and no need to make a GR for this one.
    Check and revert back.

  • Rework operation in REM

    hi,
how can i confirm  rework operation in rem manufacturing.
    already backflush happened.

    Dear Prakash,
Do you want to post the activities that have been used for the extra operation of a HALB or FERT material?
Then enter the material Part no and the radio button for activity backflush and by the options fetch Planned activites from routing or No
    Planned activities from routing.
This extra amount spent can be checked in KKF6N in Product Cost collector of that material.

  • Production order-rework

    Hi friends,
My strategy is Make to stock production. I have created my production order of quantity 100. Then i have deliverd the same quantity of 100 to store in t.code MB31 (against my order). Then i closed my order
    My order status is:
CLSD CNF DLV PRC MACM GMPS SETC.
I have stocked my quantity in my store. Afrer 3 months, our people wants to sell the product through sale order. Now they find some damages in that final product. Now sales is returning the final product to production for rework.
How to reprocess the closed order again? How to go about with this scenario?
    please guide me
    Thanks
    kumar

    Hi Senthil,
    Good afternoon and greetings,
Made to stock in production term is called as Repetitive Manufacturing and the cost object for the same would be Product Cost Collector.  The Product Cost Collector doesnt have the concept of closing fully basically because the product cost collector would be a replica of the material itself.
In your case, a rework for production order is applied through by adding an additional work centre in the routing called REWORK.  Re-opening a production in a different period may lead to confusion basically because the planned cost at the time of creating the order say before 3 months would have been £100 per PC.  Now the standard cost estimate is £125 per PC and reopening the order will redetermine the planned cost again and when it is settled it will hit your profitability very badly because the variance would be £25 + rework cost.  Thereby it is advisable to use the concept of standard REM.
Alternatively, if you want to use the Production Order only, then follow the sequence as below
    1. Move the material from one code to another rework code
    2. Create a new routing with REWORK work centre for the rework material code.
    3. Create a production order for the rework material code
    4. Transfer the material from rework code to main material code.
    5. Settle the production order for the rework material code and thereby your P&L would be intact for the additional cost involved on the Rework.
Please reward points if found useful.
    Thanking you
    With kindest regards

  • Rework operation in the routing

    Hi All,
We are in the REM process,  We plan to change the existing Routing so that need to include the rework as the operation in the routing.
we are not going to do rework for finished product (i.e after the confirmation). if any problem , we make it as the scrab.
we need to do the rework for the product before final stage of inspection itself  . ie. we have a inprocess inspection .
i.e we have a operation called soldering, if this is not done properly, we remove the soldering and do it again as a rework.
1.how to mapp this operation as rework in the routing
    2. whether  we need to create the separate routing for rework or we can add this rework operation in the same existing routing itself ?
    3. if we do rework for the assembly, we can do create the rework, but in the component stage itself
we need to do the rework.
Edited by: raj on Jun 5, 2009 7:37 AM

    Hi Ramaling,
my scenario is like , we have 10 operation, after the 3rd operation, we have the inspection as the 4th one.
if any qty have rework , we have done the rework manually .
so client need us to create the WC for rework and they need to find the cost inoccur for the rework
after rework was done ,all the other operation will continue  for the reworked materials.
how to include this rework WC in the routing what we used.
    is it advisable or not
if it is not how to mapp my scenario ?

  • Rework in Repetative Manufacturing

    Good morning all,
Can anyone tell me or point me in the right direction, can we and how do we manage rework loops and rejects in the repetative manufacturing model?
    Thanks in advance

    Hello,
If you are working with 4.7 then Rework is possible in MFBF screen also.
If you declare some qty as rework , it will appear in FCOST screen.
While booking in mfbf you have to specify the version.
From FCOST you can book it as scrap OR good.
Here also you need to specify the version.
When you book rework , system will generate an entry in the background for RO
document. If you given back this rework to production area then again RI document will be ganarated in the system.
These documents can be seen in FCODOC.
We are extensively using REM in our plant.
    Reward points if helpful

  • Assembly scrap in REM scenario

    Hi Experts,
My scenario is relevant to REM, during back flush in transaction MFBF am posting the assembly scrap by selecting assembly scrap radio button and in the scrap posting screen with reason of variance, as per logic the quantity of the plan order should be reduced by scrap quantity, am able to see the goods issue document but the plan order quantity is not getting reduced.
Are there any specific setting needs to be done for posting of assembly scrap?
Please help to explain the complete process of assembly scrap in case of REM.
    Regards
    cs

    Hi Anupam,
I have checked the process as per your advise and it is working fine, but here am having an issue as if am scraping through quality it is scrapped with movement type 553, which is booked as loss.
But actually we are retrieving the components from these 5 units and reusing them in another FG.
As we are working with REM we are using CO07 production order without material for rework purpose in that case the scrapped assembly is issued to production order and components are retrieved with 531.
Is there any possibility that the scrapped assembly can be shown as stock and issuance can be done?
Or how can we address this scenariou2026
    Regards

  • Operation based onfirmation in REM

I am having 3 operations and on the 2nd operation, some testing will be done. This result in identification of component as OK or Not Ok. How can I capture the Not Ok quantity, as I need to have a report for the rework quantity or scrap quantity. I need to link Material, Planned Order and Quantity.
But I am unable to enter the rework quantity in MFBF a sthere is no provision to capture rework quantity in MFBF. If I enter rework quantity through inprocess inspection point functionality, this rework quantity is no where updated in MFBF.
    This is mapped thru REM.
    Thanks and Regards
    Vineeth

    Hi Vineeth,
I would suggest to have seperate storage location for the rework.
You can select the storage location in MFBF. for scrap you have the scrap option in MFBF. Here the scrap cost will be posted to your cost collector.
For reporting perspective you can use Defect recording through inspection lot, In Quality Notification you will get the linkage of the production version in notification documents.
Kindly check and revert if you need any help.

  • AP Payment Method (Check) & Remit-to Bank Info (Bank A/c and A/c Name) not populated automatically

    Hello all,
We have encountered an issue during our testing for upgrade to R12 (12.1.3) where in the AP Invoice header, the remit-to bank a/c info (a/c number and name) as well as the payment method are not being picked for some sites in certain suppliers (even though the banking details and payment method have been maintained at supplier site level).
However, this is not the same for other sites maintained under the same suppliers for eg:
    Supplier A has 2 sites
    Site 1
    Site 2
In the invoice, when giving Supplier A, Site 1, the remit-to details are not auto populated (but can be manually picked) - same with the payment method (Check)
If Supplier A, Site 2 is picked, all details populate automatically.
Also, this has been noted with suppliers that have been migrated from R11 however, not all migrated suppliers show this behavior.
Any advice is very much appreciated.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Fazleth

Changes in relation to Supplier Bank set up in R12 upgrade I worked on in 2010 so may not be 100% but here goes:-
R12 introduces a Priority flag in addition to the Primary flag in the Supplier Bank set up.
This functionality replaces the R11i use of the Primary flag in the current Supplier bank set up.
My understanding is that in the upgrade to R12 the Primary flag will be assigned as in R11i and the new priority flag will be assigned as per the logic of the R11i Primary flag.
In the example above it could be that for supplier site A site 2 was the primary flag and a priority has been given to site 2 if this is the case there may be some small set up that needs to happen to give site 1 a priority in R12.
I don't have the set up steps to hand but you should be able to run some reports and query in the supplier set up to validate this.

  • Background Job in COGI(REM Backflush error handling)

    Hi Everyone.
    I have one question.
Our company use REM Backflush .
And Our REM profile setting is next.
    - Use GI Backflush at GR posting
    - Don't use report point backflush
    - Create cumulated and individual postprocessing record
In this circumstance, we use T-code COGI to process backflush error.
When I execute the COGI in online, There is no problem
<b>But, After I make a job for background in sm37, When I execute background gob for COGI, There is a problem. In real, Background gob is will executed. But COGI errors remain as before.</b>

    Hi,
    Actually you should use
    Transaction          MF47
Program              RMSERI11, for post process record.
For post processing , manually entry like storage location and Batch number(if batch management is enabled) is required , if the post process record is created according to this error.
And hence it is not possible to correct all the records by background job.
    Thanks
    Thamizh
