RFC in Web Dynpro

Hi experts,
I am using RFC to get data from other sap system 4.6 into my ECC. To do this i created a logical destination system with user name and password. Now while we run the application, data for the user defined in the logical destination alone is retrieved. Not specific to the ECC user id.
If to get the data specific for ECC then how to proceed.
Rk

Hi Rk,
I'm not sure if I understand your question correct, but i'll give it a try.
You added a userid and password to connect to your 4.6 system via RFC.
Now you want to retrieve userdata from your 4.6 system related to the ECC user and not the user defined in the RFC connection?
I think you should best create an RFC-enabled Function module which receives the userid from your ECC as import and gives the user-details back via Export.
In ECC do something like this:
CALL FUNCTION 'Z_GET_USERDATA'
    DESTINATION 'MY_ECC'
    EXPORTING
       userid = syst-uname
    IMPORTING
       details = zls_details.
Good luck!

  • Call same RFC from Web dynpro twice (table parameter passing)

    We have one table on our Iview bind to RFC A output table. We execute the RFC A with input parameters (p1=val1, p2=val2) and the data (task name and chkbox field) gets displayed on Iview table.
    The user will click a select deselect all checkbox to select all rows of the table.
    We want to execute SAME RFC A with input parameters (p1=val3, p2=val4) by passing the Iview table for processing. Please suggest the way to do this.

    Hi Sanjay,
    I am not sure about your requirement. I assume you need to call the same RFC twice, the first time with some simple parameters & the second time with a table parameter. Is this the case? If so:
    You needn't switch data between the contexts. You simply need to check if the RFC is being called when the WD table has some data. If so, add the table parameter to the RFC Input object. Let your WD table be bound to a node 'TableNode' having two attributes - 'task' and 'chk' (chk of type 'boolean'). I assume you need to add the row only if the checkbox has been selected.
    Assuming that your BAPI/RFC uses a table ‘MyTable’ of some type 'ZTAB' and that your RFC call is being done from your view:
    ZTAB table;
    IPrivate<your view>.ITableNodeElement elmt;
    <i>// create an instance of the Input class;</i>
    <BAPI_name>_Input input = new <BAPI_name>_Input ()
    <i>// Populating the RFC Object for the first time call
    i.e when the table node is empty</i>
    if(wdContext.nodeTableNode.size()==0)
    input.setParam1(<some default value>);
    input.setParamN(<some default value>);
    else
    for(int i=0;i<wdContext.nodeTableNode.size();i++)
    elmt = wdContext.nodeTableNode().getTableNodeElementAt(i);
    if(elmt.getChk())
    table = new ZTAB();
    <i>//if you do not know table type of 'MyTable’ , check the function input.add<MyTable> (<table type>)</i>
    table.set<property1>(elmt.getTask());
    <i>// If you need to add more parameters :</i>
    table.set<propertyN>(<your-value>);
    input.add<MyTable>(table);
    wdcontext.node<BAPI_name>_Input().bind(input);
    <i>Now execute the BAPI using the following line</i>
    wdContext.current<BAPI_Name>_InputElement().modelObject().execute();
    wdContext.nodeOutput.invalidate()
    <i>// Refreshes the value in the output node</i>
    Hope this helps,
    Best Regards,
    Nibu.

  • Web Dynpro Callable Object : use of RFCs

    Hi All,
    I've to create a callable object using Web dynpro.
    In this web dynpro to display a table data populated by calling RFC and we need to select one row of the table and sent it as output parameter.
    My question is how we gonna set the getDescription Method in this case for creating the Callable Object?
    How we define the execute Method in the Interface Controller.
    Where I should bind the Model to Controller (Component Controller / Interface Controller)
    Can someone explain how we gonna use RFC in Web dynpro while calling it as Callable Object.
    Thanks

    Hi,
    You need to have the SCs for local development of Web Dynpro callable object.
    Refer the following documents for more details:

  • Initialization of A Web Dynpro Application.

    Hello All,
    I am a novice to the wonderful world of Web Dynpro for Java.
    I am trying to build an application which will run in the portal.
    The user intetrface will have a drop down box and some web control and a button. I want to poulate the drop down boxes with some values from calling RFC.
    My questions would be
    1> in the wdDoInit() method can I make call to the RFC?
    2> If we can make a call is the way it is meant to be or is there any other way.
    I will be executing a RFC once the form is sumitted any ways..
    Any inputs for helping me out will be greatly appreciated and of course re-warded well..
    Thanks and Regards
    Manoj Kumar.

    Hi Manoj,
    If you are new to Web Dynpro you should check the Web Dynpro Sample Applications and Tutorials:
    https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/developerareas/webdynpro?rid=/library/uuid/49f2ea90-0201-0010-ce8e-de18b94aee2d
    Here is a direct URL to a tutorial on how to access a RFC from web dynpro:
    https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/downloaditem?rid=/library/uuid/f0b0e990-0201-0010-cc96-d7ecd2e51715
    For your question if to execute the RFC from the wdDoInit or once the form is submitted: of course both are possible, it depends of the application logic: When do you want it to run? in the init stage or the submit stage.
    Hope it helps, Adi

  • How to set up environment for web dynpro Java?

    We want to develop applications in Java Web Dnpro.
    What do I need to configure in SAP R3 to use Web Dynpro Java?
    I can develop applications on the SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio and only perform a configuration  in SAP ECC ?
    Or do I need to install SAP EC Composition Environment ?
    Can I develop and set up RFC connections to integrate with my application in Web Dynpro Java?
    Please help me,
    Regards,

    Dear Viviane,
    In the webdynpr java application, you can use the data from SAP system. like you can use RFC's, Bapi's in your webdynpro application.
    Refer to [Linking RFC to Web Dynpro|http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/761eba66-0401-0010-b982-d5f5bd9e8f90?quicklink=index&overridelayout=true] and http://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/WDJava/WelcometoWebDynproJava%21

  • Prob. exec. print job from RFC which im calling Web Dynpro java in Portal

    Hi,
    Ive got a problem executing a print job from an RFC which im calling in Java web Dynpro Application in Portal. Im using an Acess Method G: for Front End Printing but Order gets stuck with the Status "Waiting" "Front end unavailable".
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance!!!

    HI,
    I dont think you would be able to do this. Instead, you need to get the content from RFC into WD java and print from the browser.

  • Web Dynpro Application Accessing RFC

    Hello,
    i have some trouble with using RFCs of remote R/3 system. Perhaps anyone can help a poor SAP-rookie.
    I'd like to execute the tutorial number 4 Web Dynpro Sample Applications and Tutorials. Therefor i installed the "SAP netweaver for java trial", and the SAP Netweaver developer studio.
    Responding to the tutorial i have to "set up the SLD connection"
    Problem 1: in Step 4 i can not open the "cluster tab" - error
    So I went on and ignored this problem. At page 10 of the tutorial the user is instructed how to "create a model".
    Problem 2: the connection to the SAP system teminates with the error "org.eclipse.swt.SWTException: Failed to execute runnable (java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError)"
    any ideas?

    Hello Sebastian,

    Hi!
    You can use the function module RFC_MODIFY_R3_DESTINATION to create, modify and delete RFC connections. You will need the system ID (e.g. ABC), client (e.g. 123), system number (e.g. 00) and the host name of the server. In this example the following code would create or modify the RFC destination ZRFC_DESTINATION.
        CALL FUNCTION 'RFC_MODIFY_R3_DESTINATION'
          EXPORTING
            destination                = 'ZRFC_DESTINATION'
            action                     = 'M'
            systemid                   = 'ABC'
            systemnr                   = '00'
            server                     = 'serverhostname'
            language                   = sy-langu
            client                     = '123'
            user                       = 'USERNAME'
            password                   = 'PASSWORD'
            description                = 'Dummy RFC Connection'
          EXCEPTIONS
            authority_not_available    = 1
            destination_already_exist  = 2
            destination_not_exist      = 3
            destination_enqueue_reject = 4
            information_failure        = 5
            trfc_entry_invalid         = 6
            internal_failure           = 7
            snc_information_failure    = 8
            snc_internal_failure       = 9
            destination_is_locked      = 10
            OTHERS                     = 11.
    With the following code you can delete this connection:
        CALL FUNCTION 'RFC_MODIFY_R3_DESTINATION'
          EXPORTING
            destination                = 'ZRFC_DESTINATION'
            action                     = 'D'
          EXCEPTIONS
            authority_not_available    = 1
            destination_already_exist  = 2
            destination_not_exist      = 3
            destination_enqueue_reject = 4
            information_failure        = 5
            trfc_entry_invalid         = 6
            internal_failure           = 7
            snc_information_failure    = 8
            snc_internal_failure       = 9
            destination_is_locked      = 10
            OTHERS                     = 11.
    Please keep in mind that deleting an RFC connection is usually noted in the system log.
    If you want to reuse your connection for multiple servers, you could run into trouble since connection data is cached.
    Sincerely,
    Stefan

    ........Looks like a have a Problem with JCO.
    Is there a good guide, which explains the Basic steps in developeing Web dynpro applications and BAPI ?!

    thank you guys for all the answers.I have to read all the documentations.
    to my szenario:
    I installed on my notebook the Trial Versions of:
    SAP NetWeaver Application Server 7.00/Java AS 7.00
    SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio Version: 7.0.14
    All my basic Web Dynpro Applications in Java are running (even with Adobe Interactive Forms) on the local NetWeaver Trail- Web AS Trail perfectly.
    Now i want to connect per RFC to another SAPERP Server, which is in the intranet.
    I did the whole RFC tutorial with the flights -
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/c3/76b45d9688e04abe1a1070410ddc1e/content.htm (also with the JCO codeing etc)
    so my web dynpro application should work.
    I think I have to configure - like ramesh said something on the NetWeaver Trail.
    So what do i need and configure excactly on my Netweaver Trial to work with RFC - to call the BAPIS in the other System?
    - SLD ? JCO ?
    If i over Web Dynpro - Content Administrator - >
    it says "Connection to System Landscape Directory (SLD) could not be opended successfully." and all the buttons
    create Jco destinations etc. are greyed out.
    I didn´t configured the SLD and JCO in the Netweaver yet.

  • Catching errors in Web Dynpro for Java when thrown from RFC Raise Exception

    Hello Developers,
    I'm looking for information that explains how a Web Dynpro for Java application responds and processes errors that are thrown from a Raise Exception event within an RFC.
    The Exceptions do not appear to be part of the Model and I can't identify how they get processed.
    When rfc HRXSS_CAT_WD_RECORD raises exception PERNR_NOT_LOCKED this exception is passed back to the calling webdynpro CAT DC that displays the exception on the web page along with the log.
    I would like to display a friendlier message and without the log.  Any information on how to customize the handling of this error would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you,
    Terry

  • RFC Indentification in R/3 from web dynpro

    hi experts,
    Could u tell me Wether there is any system variable SY-* or any function in sapr/3.so that we can easily know that which model from web dynpro means wether it is rfc or web service model?
    thanx in advance.
    regards,
    pp

    Hi,
        Since all the inbound calls are via RFC function modules ,I don't think any system variable will be able to differentiate the call.You can think of having a inport parameter to identify the call .

  • RFC/BAPI Call (ABAP Web Dynpro)- DYNPRO_SEND_IN_BACKGROUND

    Hi all,
    I'm developing an ABAP Web Dynpro application which utilise a RFC enabled function module. When I tried to execute the function module through the browser it terminated with an abap dump. I checked ST22 and found the following dump: 'DYNPRO_SEND_IN_BACKGROUND'. However when I tried executing it using SE37, the function module works fine.
    Any ideas?
    Ricky

    Hello Ricky,
    to my guts feeling that should be fine, but I have never used call dialog in such a scenario. If I were in your shoes I would try to break down the problem:
    - Is it of general nature?
    - Is it specific to this dialog?
    To distinquish that I would write the most basic dialog and use it the same way as the target one. If this fails too, using FuBa´s with call dialog seems to be not possible => try to avoid that situation. If the test succeeds, well the hunt for the needle in the haystack is open.
    Good Luck
