RFC to JDBC Empty tables parameters in response

Hello,
I've got a problem with an XI query (RFC to JDBC, UPDATE_INSERT) which contains a "tables" parameter. When I get the RFC's response in se37 (in the calling system of course), the "tables" parameter is empty. I need the values for further processing. What can I do to get back the values?

Thanks for your answer. The XML response in SXI_MONITOR tells me table is empty.
My scenario is very simple. I got Receiver Determination, Interface Determination, Sender Agreement and Receiver Agreement, a sender CC to R/3 system and a receiver one to JDBC.
Maybe it's a mapping problem. In the response mapping, I don't know what to link to the "tables" parameter.

I'm using the follow scenario:
RFC <-> xi <-> JDBC
It's a synchronous interface.
In JDBC the message do a SELECT in database and returns selected rows in message response.
The message response transfers selected rows to RFC.response in the mapping.
It seems working right but no data are transfered to RFC.
In SXMB_MONI I can see the selected rows from database.
There is no error in JDBC and RFC adapter. Bellow is the message response in the SXMB_MONI:

I think that there is an error in message mapping between RFC.response <-- message_response, because I'm just mapping the fields <row> and <product>, because if I make a link beteween <t7_productionorder_response> and return table of RFC, a Short DUMP happens.

After doing this mapping, did you test it in the IR mapping editor? was it successful?
Do specify the occurence of all the headers so we can help you better.

RFC to JDBC response

Hello,
I have a scenario SAP-> RFC -> XI -> JDBC. Where i'm using data from SAP R/3 to update a table in an Oracle database of a third party system. Is there any way i can find out if the fields have been updated succesfully or not?
I know that only if i use a synchronous JDBC reciever i will get a response.
Helpful suggestions will be rewarded.

Hi,
The Response sent by your JDBC adapter will be not be a Apllication Level Acknowledgement, but rather a System Level Acknowledgement and so, you will have to configure a BPM, if you want to send the number of rows Updated as a response to your RFC.

It contains the info,
<b>The response documents described below can only be evaluated by the Integration Server/PCK if the call is synchronous because the content of the response document is not accessible if the call is asynchronous. The response is put in a separate element <StatementName_response> for each statement element.</b>
So, if you want to send the response, then you will have to configure your receiver JDBC adapter sysnchronous, use a BPM to route the response message to whichever system you want.

RFC Lookup - BAPI-TABLE Parameters problem

Hello All,
I had a scenario where i need to export parameters and am supposed to get import parameters from BAPI between source and target structures.
like -
source --> BAPI execution = result --> target
We had succeeded in getting those but the only problem is with TABLE parameters in that BAPI.
How can we achieve it.

Its not a simple source-target mapping .
For Ex :
Source-Bapi-Idoc
Source will send some parameters to BAPI and bapi will execute it and respond with values in table parameter of the bapi and result would be assigned to idoc-field.
For this i am using RFC Look up with sample code as :

Create JDBC target data structure something similar to this

Map Table name and action using Constant.

What is that? you have to map source item node fields to target access fields.

RFC - XI - JDBC - cannot insert in Table !

I have a scene RFC - XI - JDBC !
When executing the application in the SXMB_MONI my status is processed successfully!
But cannot insert the data in SQLServer Tables !
Im Message Monitoring i have the erros:
Error No "action" attribute found in XML document ("action" attribute missing or wrong XML structure)
Error Exception caught by adapter framework: Error processing request in sax parser: No 'action' attribute found in XML document (attribute "action" missing or wrong XML structure).
I need to insert in 4 tables --> CRHE, CRFT, CRFV and TLINES
Where CRHE is the father table.

RFC Lookup Table Parameters Reusability

Dear All
My Requirement is to Map fields in IDoc from the File data ,there are some fields in idoc for which i need to fetch data from SAP.
For this i am using RFC Look up. i am retrieving values from table parameters for RFC.
and this Table parameters are being used muliple times in Mapping.
Right now i have to execute the same RFC for set of input data atleast 5 r 6 times.
This is effective Performance of the Interface
Is there any concept of Reusuability in RFC Lookup while Mapping in PI.?
Can we use Java Initialization section in mapping for executing the RFC once and using the output data in table parameters while mapping various target fields.

Hi,
1) If it is PI 7.1 there are mapping enhancements, such as
a) Variables for storing intermediate mapping value,
b) for RFC lookup etc.
you can find the 7.1 pdfs from SDN
2) you can have a two stage mapping, putting them sequentially in Interface mapping object.
First step : Source to Target (orignal target structure)
here you can do all the mapping and also One time RFC lookup, but leaving the other fields where you need the lookup values again
Second step : Target to Target
here already mapped target becomes your input & you know the fields which have the value & the fields that you need to map again and all other fields are one to one mapping.

RFC to JDBC Sync Scenario and get JDBC response

Hi All,
We need to create RFC to JDBC synchronous interface with update_insert action.
And we need to get the number of records updated or inserted as response and map the response and send it back to ECC as RFC response mesg.
I have gone through the help document on JDBC and it says :
The response document has the following format; one of the two values is always 0 because either an UPDATE or an INSERT action is always executed:
<update_count>count</update_count>
<insert_count>count</insert_count>
Now following is the question: Is this this the standard feature? Because in our case Database side they will not be sending any response back.
So with the synchronous receiver JDBC channel would we get this update and insert count as response by default?.
Please help with replies.

Hi Jane
No setting needs to be done by the Database team, it is a standard feature.
Whenever you insert or update records in DB using the JDBC Adapter, you will get the response with the count.
If insertion fails due to some reason in JDBC Adapter, then there will be no response.

RFC Tables Parameters

Hello all
I am having performance issues relating to an RFC call between CRM and ECC. I have been asked to get an RFC call between the two working as quickly as possible.
The code is as optimised as possible, I have replaced onerous FM calls with bespoke code and optimised select statements.
But for some reason I have a niggling thought in the back of my mind that no tables should be passed to the RFC FM in the IMPORTING parameters section and should be passed as TABLES parameters only.
Does anyone know if this is true or not. I have found OSS note 888777 which says that this is true in relation to ABAP-JAVA comms but it doesn't say whether this is the case in ABAP-ABAP.
Any advice/comments most welcome.

I'm just wondering whether removing the IT_TAB1 and IT_TAB2 parameters from the IMPORTING section and placing them in the TABLES section would have any performance improvements.

Using tables parameters for RFC

Hi All
I am trying to use tables parameter for a Remote Function Call.
It says it is obsolete and not working, we are using ECC6.0 version of SAP.
Any help??

Instead, you should use a table type in a IMPORTING or EXPORTING parameter. Create the table type in SE11 and then reference this table type in your parameter in the IMPORTING/EXPORTING tab. The use of TABLES parameters section is obselete.

RFC to XI: Empty payload xml

Hello everyone,
We have a very simple scenarion RFC -> XI -> JDBC.
When the rfc is executed in the backend R/3 i can see the xml in sxmb_moni
BUT the payload is empty.
The remote function uses TABLE instead of IMPORT / EXPORT parameters.
Any ideas?

JDBC receiver adapter - stored procedure response

I am on PI 7.11 and have the following scenario:
RFC->PI->JDBC
whereby the JDBC receiver access an Oracle db (unsure of that version) using a stored procedure "GET_ICBC_ID".
My issue is that I never seem to have any data back in PI on the JDBC response coming back from Oracle. ***
Here is the definition of that stored procedure in Oracle:
Stored Procedure Name: GET_ICBC_ID
Parameters
                ICBCID    OUT VARCHAR2               <- Returned RACF ID (output)
                REQUESTOR IN VARCHAR2 default 'SAPHR'       <- Optional Requestor ID.
               COMMUNITY IN VARCHAR2 default 'EMP'       <- Optional Community ID.
Here is my JDBC call in to the stored procedure (sxi_monitor), which seems to be fine:

I suspect something is wrong with my response message type definition, but am not seeing it. Also, am unsure how I can debug this - it appears as though Oracle side is fine, but nothing back into PI.

- The stored procedure is a SELECT, so am thinking I shouldn't need the <update_count> tags mentioned. Let me know if this assumption is incorrect.
- Because one field (ICBCID) is to be returned in the reponse, does it need to be passed in on the jdbc request ? Looking at the blogs I did not see them do that. If so, with its IsOutput=true, or should it be IsInput=false or other? Also if it is to be passed in on the request, I guess I would set its value to a space so that the xml tag gets produced?
- Does the order of the request elements passed matter, i.e. if the ICBCID is to be passed on the request, should it be first or last in the list? Does order of the 2 IsInput=true parameters matter (i.e. in relation to the Stored Procedure)?
- The Oracle version is 11.1, so pretty up-to-date. Stored Procedures should work fine.
- What specifically is meant be 'resultset'? Also, does <row> need to be added as a tag within the response xml?

The appraoach i am using here is :
1. Created a FM with import parameters as the fields of my Ztable and without any export parameter or source code.
2. Created a report to call that FM in background. The code of my report is as follows :

Hi,
Instead of calling RFC many times I would:
1) create RFM with only one import parameter
TYPE your_table type
2) call only once RFM in the report:
CALL FUNCTION 'ZRFCNAME'
    IN BACKGROUND TASK
    DESTINATION 'RFCDEST'
    EXPORTING
      pt_table = i_table.
COMMIT WORK AND WAIT.
This will also improve the performance.
