RFS ERROR

HELLO
I WAS CHANGING THE PROTECTION MODE TO MAXIMUM PROTECTION,
THE PRIMARY DATABASE SHUTS DOWN
I CHECKED THE STANDBY ALERT FILE AND I FOUND THIS ERROR
"RFS[8] NO STANDBY REDO LOG FILES SELECTED"
EVEN THAT STANDBY LOG FILES EXIST ON STANDBY SITE
HELP
THANK U

Hi,
I had similar problem. Archivelog are copied on standby site, but not completely, just 99% of file is copied.
I find a workaround, I change the listener.ora from standby database like this (add prespawn):
SID_LIST_LISTENER_STB =
(SID_LIST =
   (SID_DESC =
     (SID_NAME = <yourDBname>)
     (ORACLE_HOME = <yourOracleHome>)
     (prespawn_max=25)
     (prespawn_list=
      (prespawn_desc=
       (protocol=tcp)
       (pool_size=4)
       (timeout=5)
   )Hope this help you,
Nicolas.

    Having an issue applying logs to the standby, seemingly it's not setup correctly. I am sure I'm missing something simple here, but would love any input or help. Thanks in advance.

  • Dispatcher Error

    Hi,
    I've installed SAPNW7.0ABAPTrialSP12. I get an error during the installation, and uninstall this by the uninstall instructions (start.htm - last slide). When I try to install it again, the installation time was too quickly and searching in SDN forums I found the solution that was to delete Installshield folder from my Commom Files folder. After this, I've installed again and the instalation time was up to 1 hour (normal time). Then I tried to up my server several times, so I've opened my services file and look that some entries is missing (I think that my error is caused by this).
    My machine:
    Windows XP SP2
    MacBook Black - 2GHZ Core 2 Duo - 1GB RAM - 30GB free space
    Loopback Adapter is installed and configured to DHCP and fixed IP with 10.10.0.10 value (by SAP instructions)
    Hostname: brmb2000
    Host file have an entry: 10.10.0.10 brmb2000

  • Manual\DGMGRL Switchover Standby ora-01033 error

    I have created a standby server for my SAP application as a part of test Disaster Recovery scenario. I can see the redo logs getting applied from primary to standby. However when I manually switchover the roles i encounters ORA -01033 error at NEW PRIMARY server and logs are also not getting applied in this scenario.
    When i again changes the roles it works fine. I am not sure what is cause of ORA -01033 error. Here are the detailed tnsnames.ora of both sites.

  • ARC3: RFS network connection lost at host 'stdbhost'

    Hi there,
    having oracle 8.1.7.4 64 bit on Aix 4.3.3 replicating on a twin machine.
    While archiving many logs within few minutes i'm having this error:
    ARC3: RFS network connection lost at host 'stdbhost'
    ARC3: Error 3113 creating standby archivelog file at host 'STDBIDIP.IDI.IT'
    ARC3: Error 3113 creating archivelog file 'stdbhost'
    Then after few seconds it retries and succeded. My clause in the primary db is:
    SERVICE=stdbhost OPTIONAL REOPEN=180
    The problem is that sometimes it does not succeed so i loose some archives and there's a gap sequence. Unfortunately i loose some archives that after the backup of the primary are deleted so i can't apply get them. The only way is to restore those files. But i can't every time do this!
    My database was replicating from about two months without problems. Then we activate it for test and now i rebuilt it but now having problems i mentioned above.
    I have followed the same procedure.
    I was guessing why i'm getting that error. How can it be solved? I see that on the primary site sometimes more than one archive processes are activated. I was wondering if on the standby site on rfs process was enough to handle all archives arriving at the same time. If not is it possible to activate more rfs'?Long postings are being truncated to ~1 kB at this time.

    I am willing to bet it is not linksys. Most likely it is your service provider blocking p2p.
    This is a major battle with service providers. If you do some research on this you will see what I am talking about.

  • Dataguard standby DB error

    Hi,
    Version is 10.2.0.3 on Linux x86_64. I have a test environment where i have setup a dataguard in MAX AVAILABILITY mode. It has only a single standby database. It was working as expected but recently i have shutdown immediate the primary database with out cancelling the MRP and shutting down the Standby database before. Now, i was able to bring up the primary database but my standby database throws these errors in the alert log .....
    RFS[600]: No standby redo logfiles of size 309600 blocks available
    RFS[600]: No standby redo logfiles selected (reason:7)
    Tue May 20 18:12:45 2008
    Errors in file /opt/oracle/admin/testdb/udump/testdb_rfs_3456.trc:
    ORA-16086: standby database does not contain available standby log files
    The primary database alert log shows the following error...
    ORA-16086: standby database does not contain available standby log files
    Wed May 21 13:42:34 2008
    LGWR: Failed to archive log 1 thread 1 sequence 456
    Thread 1 advanced to log sequence 457
    I researched a bit on metalink but all i could find was to "add more standby redo log files". I have STANDBY_FILE_MANAGEMENT set to AUTO.
    Can anyone suggest me how to go about this one
    Thanks in advance.
    Harris.

    Hi,
    I can't think of any reason why your standby logs would have vanished. I suspect that if you scan up through your alert log to the last time the standby was restarted you will see the same errors (i.e. I think they have always been missing).
    The standby redo logs are used by dataguard when its configured in lgrw mode rather than arch. There's a good explanation of the differences between the two modes here:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/deploy/availability/htdocs/DataGuardRedoShipping.htm
    To add some standby redo logs, take your standby out of managed recovery:
    alter database recover managed standby database cancel;
    Then add the logs using the following command:
    alter database add standby logfile group <number> ('<filename>') size <size>;
    It's also worth adding identical logs to the primary database, in case you need to switch-over.
    Cheers,
    Andy Barry

    Hello;
    I might look at the SQLNET.ORA file on both servers
    Try setting these :
    SQLNET.INBOUND_CONNECT_TIMEOUT=120
    SQLNET.SEND_TIMEOUT = 300
    SQLNET.RECV_TIMEOUT = 300
    Make sure you restart the LISTENERS.
    I'd look at this first :
    ORA - 03135 : connection lost contact while shipping from Primary Server to Standby server [ID 739522.1]
    I once work with an SE who we called "The human firewall". It was always the firewall until proven otherwise.
    And then this :
    Troubleshooting ORA-3135 Connection Lost Contact [ID 787354.1]
    Have you looked at this ?
    Database Hanging during Archival [ID 1142856.1]

    from here it is showing no errors or nothing in my alert log file from yesterday evening

    No version number, no definition of what you mean by "standby database" and not a clue as to what you mean by "restore" or why you did it.
    No help is possible at this time.
    PS: We do not guess at what someone means by "MRM modemout stage" ... you need to define your terms.

  • Fail to ping standby . error = 3113 in trace files (oracle 9i)

    Hi there. One of my standby databases is not working properly, I mean is not synchronized with primary. Both database are 9i Release 2 running on Compaq Tru64 servers
    I look for the primary trace files and I found this trace file:
    $ vi umercado_arc1_141731.trc
    "umercado_arc1_141731.trc" 28 lines, 1164 characters

    The error I want to highlight is "FAIL TO PING STANDBY UMERCADO3, ERROR 3113"
    I did this testings on the primary server:
    - Unix ping to standby node , ok
    - tnsping to standby database (tnsping umercado3), ok
    Therefore I do not find the reason for this error. By this time I have defeered the transfer from the primary to standby.
    Any advice is welcome.
    Thanks!

    Suggestion: would attempt to make a sqlplus connection from the primary to the standby using the tns entry that you have configured for the log_archive_dest parameter. you need to connect to the standby as sys.
    What happened:
    I did a sqlplus connection ON THE PRIMARY DATABASE using the tns entry that is exactly the same used in log_archive_dest_2 parameter. Here is it:
    SQL> conn sys/*********@UMERCADO3 as sysdba
    Connected.
    Therefore I do not think it is a problem in the standby password file.
    Any suggestions?

    The command completed successfullyIt was working perfectly alright , this morning i just did the following activities and nothing else.
    -Cancel standby recovery mode
    -Shutdown standby database.
    -Shutdown Production database.
    -Startup production database.
    -Startup Standby database.
    -Put standby database in recovery mode (alter database recover managed standby database disconnect from session).
    i have done the same above step many time as before but never confront such issue at standby database.Could you please let me know how can i resolve this issue.

    As i said i faced the same issue as before and got it resolved by killing Arc0 background process at Production (Primary Database) , this time i did the same few days before but invain dont know which BG process i killed at primary database ;) , i just did the same again and archivleog started to shipped :) , very strange , it could be due to getting off from office and having sound sleep after a toughest involvement of month end closing ;)
    At Production
