  • The Where in the save as dialog box

The Where in the save as dialog box is frustratingly limiting is there a way to change this so I can browse to the folder I want?

I recommend you get Default Folder.   I've considered it a must have utility for my systems since OS9 Classic days.  It greatly helps in navigation for the ever deficient file dialogs in OSX (and OS9).

  • When full screen - where is the Styles Drawer?

    Hi  -
I was exploring IBooks Author and having a ball.  It looks great in full screen mode.
What I can't figure out is where the Styles Drawer is supposed to be when in full screen mode?  I know where it is in normal viewing mode but it can't be reached in that spot when FS.
Is there a trick to it or just something Apple missed.
    TIA your input.
    J2

By design, items hung outside the primary window are disabled. Use the built-in menus are needed and if you like, feel free to request a different option, etc, via iBA's Feedback menu.
My advice, tho is to use the biggest monitor you can and more than one if possible

  • Where is the Printer Preferences Dialog?

I'm running PSE 6 for Mac on an iMac using Leopard.  Printer is Canon iP6600D.  After calibrating the monitor (using Apple's program under System Preferences), I opened a jpg on my desktop and made a print, and it matches the monitor fairly closely.  Then I decided to open the same jpg inside PSE and print from there.  Then it asked me under color management/color handling whether PSE or the printer manages the colors (or no color management).  Depending on the answer, it says I need to disable or enable color management in the Printer Preferences Dialog.  I have two questions:
    1)  Where can I find the Printer Preferences Dialog?
    2)  Is it better to let PSE or the Printer handle the color management?
I actually have a third question (sorry).  When I make prints from our local Walgreens or WalMart, the prints seem way too dark and saturated (WalMart) or has a bluish/purple-ish cast (Walgreens).  Maybe their printers are not calibrated like they're supposed to be??

Thanks.  I used PSE to produce two jpgs of the same image, one with the 'standard' monitor calibration (gamma = 1.8), and the other using a calibration with gamma = 2.2.  Images are sRGB, and I used the 'no color management' setting in PSE.  I made prints on my Canon ip6600D, and they matched the monitor pretty closely for the respective profiles.  The print made with the gamma 2.2 calibration came out lighter than the gamma 1.8 calibration, which was expected.  So at this point it looks like my monitor and printer are working okay.
However, I just got back from Walmart, and these same two prints are way too dark, and they are the same exposure (one should be lighter).  Does their machine (Fuji Frontier I believe) automatically optimize the images?  If so, that is not good.  What do I do now?  Do I have to use a printer profile that matches their machine?  My prints looks good (according to my monitor and printer), but I would like to make prints from Walmart or Walgreens if I need to print out a large quantity (saves time, money, ink and paper cost).  Also, I want to send a cd to friends so they can make prints, but at this rate, it is not going to work.

    Noka map data is stored in unrecognizable form in either E:\cities or F:\cities in (16) folders 0 - 9 and a - f and each of these has (16) sub-folders 0 - 9 and a - f.
Are you saying that if you input destination for this region into "search" it does not show appropriate map?
Sorry but i thought it's like a directory where you choose the map you want & then browse thru it . Thanks , the address did show up when I put it in "search" . By the way , I'm using N700 ( also have E66 & E71 )

  • Where is the Print Settings Dialog?

    Hello everyone,
I was trying to print sheet music from my Sibelius application. It would not print the final bar. I changed the black ink on my Canon i850 and updated the driver. Still the final bar would not print.
I posted my issue on the Sibelius discussion site and was told to open the File>Print dialog, go to the Print Settings dialog, then set "substitute resolution" to 300, if I am using Mac OS 10.4.
I am using Mac OS 10.4.6. I tried to follow the instructions but I couldn't because I could not find a Print Settings dialog.
How can I find 'Substitute resolution' in my computer?

    Hi there,
When you click File you should have 'Page Setup' and 'Print' as menu options.
If you select 'Print' you will see the print dialog window. If you do not see a menu that is defaulted to 'Copies & Pages', then the application may have what is called a Simplified Print dialog, similar to what you get with Preview. But you should have an option to select Advanced, which will open the normal print window. Here you should be able to select your resolution, depending on which driver you are using for the i850.
The other thing I would check is File > Page Setup. If the sheet is set to A4 but your printed page is set to Letter, then you can loose about 20mm (which is close to an inch) from the bottom of the print (FYI - A4 is 297mm long while Letter is 279mm).
    Regards,
    Paul

Should only sleep if you hold for 1 sec and release
The shutdown dialog should pop up after hoiding for 4 sec (and if you continue to hold with the dialog box active you will force a shut-down (don't do that)

  • Where oh where is the Keyboard Map?

I have the complete Adobe font library installed. But for the life of me, I can't figure out how to insert a double dagger or other symbols in a text file. I have two keyboard nation flags up top in the Menu Bar, but need the keyboard map for each,.
The Missing Manual by D. Pogue says nothing about it.

cmd-ctrl-space brings up the character viewer. It is also available in the Input menu (flags). Additionally, you can bring up the keyboard viewer from the input menu (that likely won't be useful unless the double-dagger is mapped to a key).

  • Where is the crop pages dialog box in Acrobat 10 Pro?

I tried the help file and looked high and low, but can't find it. Thanks.

Can somebody please help me? Nothing I do seems to open up the "crop dialog box".
I start with Edit > Edit Text & Images. Then, I click the crop symbol, and set the ranges of my desired crop. Then I want to apply this crop, but nothing works.
    I've tried:
         - Double Clicking Inside the selected crop-box
         - Double Clicking Outside the selected crop-box
         - Triple Clicking
         - Quadruple Clicking
         - CTRL-SHIFT-T
         - Hitting Enter
         - Right clicking
         - Searching endlessly for some sort of button pertaining to "apply crop", to no avail.
         - Changing to different PDF type (scanned, instead of text-to-pdf) and trying again
         - Yelling
         - Punching
         - Crying
None of the afforementioned seems to work.
    Help please?

  • Where does the Ipod Maps App get its location from?

Mine thinks it is in Queensland but it is in Victoria

Location on the iPOd is determined by the location of a nearby wifi router that is in Apple's database of routers and their location.  The iPod does not have to be connected to the router, just within rage.  As of yet, nobody seems to know how to add to or correct Apple's database.

  • BUG 3: Style Mappings Dialog Takes 1:45 min/sec  to Open

Use of the style mapping dialog is critical to using this
    product.
This dialog is used iteratively in development to map FM
styles to HTML tags and make changes as necessary. It is not used
    only once.
Each time I attempt to open this dialog I must wait 1 minute
    and 45 seconds for the dialog to appear;
this amount of time is unacceptable.
RoboHelp appears to be using this time to parse the entire
FrameMaker book chapter by chapter looking for paragraph styles. In
literally 99.8% of the times an update operation is requested no
new paragraph styles have been added to any chapter in the book.
I'm confident that this is the case for many, if not most, other
users as well. Therefore the time consumed really is wasted.
Please re-engineer the update, force update process with a
goal of making it much, much faster and more responsive to our
workflow e.g. process differences where they represent real content
changes and leave the rest 'as is'.

Yes! I am not the only one!!
I am using a miniscule "test" file at this point, because I
was trying to figure out what was breaking RoboHelp, so I'm
importing a 1-page document with 2 paragraphs on it.
I don't have the wait time the OP has, but when I load the
mapping tags into the dialog box, and then try to update, RoboHelp
crashes with an "out of memory" error.

  • Style Mapping for TOC & Drop-down

I'm using RoboHelp 8 and MS Word 2007. I've modified the Style Mapping.dot Word template in the project folder (as opposed to the generic one in the RoboHelp installation folder). I've done the mapping in the Printed Document Appearance dialog box. The problem is that RoboHelp seems to totally ignore or override the styles in the template. I hope that someone can tell me what I'm doing wrong. Let me list some of the problems:
In the table of contents, the top-level entries are numbered. Within RoboHelp, the Heading 1 entries are not numbered, and the comparable style, TOC1, in the Word Template is not numbered. Yet in the output, the entries are numbered. I don't want them numbered.
The Word output for "dropspot" text is indented by 1/2", and the output for "droptext" is indented by 1". Both are encased in <p> tags in the RoboHelp source, and the style for div.droptext in the default.css does not contain a left-margin rule. In the Word template, the mapped paragraph style for the droptext does not contain an indent. Of course the style information for dropspot on both the RoboHelp and Word sides is a character format and can't contain any left-margin/indent information. Just for grins, I tried changing the color for dropspot and droptext in the style sheet; that change was produced in the output, but nothing that I have been able to do eliminates the indentation.
The Word output for the droptext is bolded. Again, it is not bolded in the RoboHelp source, defalut.css, nor in the Word template style mapped to it.
In the case of the TOC problem, RoboHelp seems to add the numbering to the TOC1 style even though it is not in Style Mapping.dot. Fixing is fairly simple by just altering the style in the output.
In the case of the dropspot/droptext entries, the problem is monumental. RoboHelp does not appear to add the indentation information to the Word style sheet. Instead, it appears ot modify every single instance inline. Beccause the Help system in question consists of a very large volume of drop-down entries and because it must exist in both online and printed versions, it virtually requires the maintenance of two entirely separate "documents." Since the source can change frequently and substantially, that becomes extraordinarily expensive in terms of resources. We really need to be able to generate useful printed documentation from the online source. Any suggestions.

I just created a new project and set it up to map to the Style Mapping template. That is obviously a new copy taken from the installation folder.
I opened the template in Word and used the Change Style pod (CTRL + SHIFT + ALT + S). There I removed numbering from the TOC style. When I generated a document, there was no numbering.
Dropspots can be part of a paragraph so there should be no indenting. In this sentence "part of a paragraph" could be a dropspot so indenting would be a nonsense.
Using the supplied template neither were indented.
That all suggests to me that a fresh look at your in project template needs another review.

  • Style Mapping.Dot

When a client went to create a word doc from their webhelp
project, the linespacing on bullets and lists was much different in
the printed doc then in the wysiwyg. After taking a look at
stylemapping.dot, the template that was being called for, we
discovered that the bullet and lists had 10 pts spacing After. We
reset the 10 to 0 and then saved the dot file as a different name.
We changed the Style Mapping.Dot reference in the in the Microsoft
Word Template dropdown. We generated the new print layout. The
printed document looks EXACTLY the same as it did with Style
Mapping.dot rather than what it should look like using the new
template. Did we miss a step somewhere?

    Peter:
I created a new RH webhelp pro project
I imported a one page word doc containing a bulleted list
I saved the project as PeterDemo
I worked through the print doc options and selected Style
Mapping.dot from the printdocext folder in robohelp
I selceted Project CSS styles (used only)
    I slelected Finish.
When the process completed, I closed RH
I Opened Word and selected Open from the File drop down
I Located and opened Style Mapping_RHT.doc from the PeterDemo
    folder
I changed the Normal Style to a font color of red, saved the
    .dot, closed Word.
Reopened the project and regenerated the printed
    documentation.
Upon viewing the project, all text is RED.
Opened the Normal Style in RH
    Changed the color to Green.
All normal text, including that in the imported list, went to
    green in the WYSIWYG.
    Saved the Project
    Regenerated the Printed Documentation.
Viewed the output. Text is STILL red.
    What did I miss, Peter?

  • Flash keeps wanting to map fonts with "Font Mapping" dialog box

Every time I open a CS4 Flasf FLA file I am prompted with the Font Mapping dialog box.
Even though I select the substitute fonts, every time it asks for it -- even after SAVE ASing the file under another name.
How can I get Flash CS4 to remember the fonts I have substituted?
    Thanks,
    ...Rowby

I don't have CS4, but if it hasn't changed since CS3, if you read the warning that opens that font mapping you will probably see that it does not save the substituted fonts in the file.  To get the fonts truly substituted you need to find the intances that use the fonts (shown in parentheses when missing) and select the new font.
