RICOH MP C4000 SMB Scanning

Today they installed a RICOH MP C4000.
Everything is working fine except scanning to a SMB folder.
I putted the RICOH in the domain and when I authenticate with domain\admin and password I can't scan to the SMB folder.
But when I authenticated with the server his credentials PC-Name/Admin and password it works. But I want that I can authenticate with the domain credentials.
Does anyone have any idea?

I know this is an older thread, but I just installed Server 2012R2. The SMB scanning had been working on Server 2011 but would not work on the new OS.
I Searched several places and tried many solutions including the one listed here by StijnS but could not get it to work.
Fortunately I got hold of a GOOD Ricoh tech who came out and upgraded to a special firmware they have for Sever 2012 and Windows 8.
He also installed a certificate in the Site Security panel from Equifax.   Once he did that with it started working.
Now we are scanning to file shares on a Server 2012R2 Domain Controller.
Hope this helps someone else.

    Hi,
I searched for the error and it is mentioned in Ricoh's website:

The entered login user name or login password is not correct.
Check that the user name and password are correct.
Check that the ID and password for the destination folder are correct.

From the solution, it mentioned that the issue could relate to user account or its password.
Please let me know if it is in domain environment. If so, please test to log the same user account currently on Windows 7 to Windows XP and see if issue persists.
Also please test to directly access the scanning folder on printer server to see if there is any issue in accessing the destination folder.

  • Ricoh Aficio MP C2051 Scan to Folder - Windows Server 2012 Error: Authentication with the destination has failed check settings

I have recently upgraded a clients servers to Windows Server 2012 & since doing so have lost the ability to scan to folder.
Both servers are domain controllers and previously on a 2008 domain controller I would have had to make the following change to allow scan to folder:
     Administrative Tools
     Server Manager
     Features
     Group Policy Manager
     Forest: ...
     Default Domain Policy
    Computer configuration
     Policies
     Windows Settings
     Security Settings
     Local Policies
     Security Options
Microsoft Network Server: Digitally Sign Communications (Always)
     - Define This Policy
     - Disabled
However I have applied this to the Windows 2012 server but am still unable to scan, possibly due to added layers of security in server 2012. The error on the scanner is Authentication with the destination has failed check settings.
I have also tried the following at the server:
    Policies -> Security Policies
Change Network Security: LAN Manager authentication level to: Send LM & NTLM - Use NTLMv2 session security if negotiated.
Network security: Minimum session security for NTLM SSP based (including secure RPC) clients and uncheck the require 128 bit.
Network security: Minimum session security for NTLM SSP based (including secure RPC) servers and uncheck the require 128 bit
I have created a user account on the server for the ricoh and set this in the settiings of the Ricoh and verified everything is correct.
Are there any other things I have missed?

  • Apple Mac OSX 10.7 scan to smb?

Please assist me. I have an apple mac osx 10.7.1. i am unable to get scan to smb working. I have enable smb scanning and setup all directories. I am able to browse the folder from a win 7 environment but unable to connect to the folder from Ricoh MPC2000 copier?

Wowzah.  Not directed at you, but, like ouch!
£15 to have a minor OS refresh and bug fix, from a corporation with $$$ in cash in the bank, seems a bit tight to me.  Talk about making Microsoft look generous.. sheesh.
I run 10.8 on my MacBook pro and need 10.8 to run the xcode 5 dev tools on my work mac... I thought it would be a simple download, didn't realise we'd have to pay? Frankly the differences are in no way deserving of any price tag!
Apple - try being more generous, people might like you more instead of just resenting every time we have to deal with you.  The only fun bit seems to be walking out the door with the shiny new thing.

  • Has anyone successfully set up scan to smb to mac os 10.7.x from a Konica Minolta bizhub

Has anyone successfully set up scan to smb to mac os 10.7.x from a Konica Minolta bizhub. I'm using 10.7.3 on MacBook Pro. Don't care what model bizhub is being used as I have access to many. I've seen the posts for FTP workarounds but want to use SMB if that is an option. Any suggestions? Thank you!

I've read other discussions that have suggested changing the format of the username and password when having login problems. I'm not familiar with NT-Status Codes. Could changing the format of the username make any difference? Something like... "workgroup/username" or "username@domain" or "domain/username" or some other combination of workgroup, domain, username, computername.
The issue has nothing to do with the format of the user authentication. What you are reading is about the Lion Mac connecting to a Windows computer that is part of domain or workgroup. The method changed slightly compared to Snow Leopard.
KM does support FTP so that is still an option, but I would ideally would like to set up SMB scanning. I'm not sure if KM is going to support AFP anytime soon.
With the lack of SMB support and KM offering no alternative at this stage then I suggest you look at using FTP. While Lion removed the option to enable FTP via the Sharing pane in System Preferences, it can still be enabled via Terminal using the following command
    sudo -s launchctl load -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/ftp.plist
    You will be prompted to authenticate using your Mac's admin account & password. Once this is done, you can then configure the address on the copier to push scan using FTP. The keys are;
The host name requires just the IP address. No leading slashes like SMB
The path will be the folder that you want to scan to, also entered without a leading slash. For example, Desktop
The user name will be the short name of the account who's folder you want to scan to.
The only other option may be WebDAV if the KM supports it. We have this with our imageRUNNER ADVANCE and with a document scanned to a shared folder in the copier hard drive, we can then connect to that folder by using Finder's > Go > Connect to Server facility. You then just enter
    http://ipaddress/share
which connects you to the shared folder and lets you see the document you scanned. You also have the facility to set subfolders for security of users documents.

  • Ricoh Aficio SP C240sf

I am using OS Mavericks and my Ricoh printer will not scan.  I downloaded the latest driver and installed it, still no luck.  I tried deleting the printer and reinstalling, still no luck.  When I use scanner software, the scanner is found, the lamp warms up and the sheet feeder feeds the page to be scanned.  The scanner activates and then I receive an error message "Operation cannot be completed because driver or scanner is not installed."  The printer function works fine.  I am connected via USB.  I tried using Preview, but it does not offer the printer as an option under "Import from scanner."  Ricoh has always seemed to have compatibility problems with Mac.  Short of chucking this MF (multi-function, not the other one) printer in the trash, what can I do?  I have contacted Ricoh tech support, but no one has ever responded.

Looking at the Ricoh web site, I cannot see any scanner software. So what software are you using?
    BlairN wrote:

Also on the Ricoh site for your model is a TWAIN-based scanner driver. To use this driver you will need to have a scanning application that supports TWAIN.
Note that Apple's Preview application and Image Capture use a different scanner driver called ICA. So to scan with either application you would need an ICA driver for your device. And from what I can find there is no ICA driver for this model.

  • Deleting blank pages in PDFs automatically

Greetings. We have a Ricoh Multipurpose scanner that scans documents to a network folder as a PDF. Because there

  • Ricoh Aficio scanning to mac Mini Server

I have a brand new Mac Mini Server, os is up todate 10.8. something.
I have two XP Pro SP3 pc's that access file shares on the mac mini.
They are ok except the drop the connection due to what I believe is the SMB 1.0 on the XP and 2.0 version on the mini fighting each other.
But it works for now with the XP machines till I can upgrad them to windows 7.
We have a Ricoh Aficio MP C2550.
I want to scan to the mini.
I cannot access SMB shares on the Mini from this printer.
I tried FTP but cannot access the FTP site either.
I can access both SMB and FTP from the XP machines.
I am new to Mac's.  I have been a Windows guy since 1994.
Any help would be greatly appreciated on this.

Hi Fultonm. I had the same issue and the steps below resolved my scanning and it is still workin OK now.
Scanning to MAC 10.7 and above using FTP
Turn on the FTP server on the destination MAC using the following command which needs to be enter from within the “Terminal”:
    sudo -s launchctl load -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/ftp.plist
    To stop it:
    sudo -s launchctl unload -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/ftp.plist
Confirm the FTP server works by typing:
    ftp localhost
If the ftp server is configured correctly, you should see the below:
    $ ftp localhost
              Trying ::1…
              Connected to localhost.
              220 ::1 FTP server (tnftpd 20100324+GSSAPI) ready.
              Desktop/My ScansName (localhost:):
To enable the FTP server, you will need to enter the password of the user account that your are currently logged into in order for the FTP server to be created. If you need to turn off FTP enter “unload”. The FTP server will usually be com.apple.ftp.
Create a scans folder on the desktop, i.e. My Scans.
    Share the scans folder
Log onto the copier which the scans need to be sent from.
Open address book and select to add a new scan destination.
Select “file” as the scan type and change the send method from “SMB” to “FTP”.
Enter a name for the scans destination as usual.
Enter either the IP address of the MAC or the hostname and folder path into the relevant boxes.
On a Ricoh both the IP/Hostname and the folder path can be enter into the “Hostname” Box.
On a Canon, enter the IP/hostname into the “Hostname” box, and enter the folder path into the “Folder Path” box.
You do not need to use the “\\” for the hostname or folder path as you would when setting up scanning to a Windows machine, i.e. \\MYCOMPUTER\DESKTOP\MYSCANS.
    Instead you enter the IP/hostname and folder path in the following format;
    Ricoh –
    Hostname: MYCOMPUTER/DESKTOP/MYSCANS
    Canon –
    Hostname: MYCOMPUTER
    Folder Path: DESKTOP/MYSCANS
Enter the user account name and password that is going to be used for authentication.
Save the settings and test the scanning. IF configured correctly using the steps above the scans should be sent to the MAC using FTP and appear in the scans folder you have created.
The fields (hostname, folder path, authentication, and so on) for setting up the scan destination information on the copiers GUI will be dependent on the manufacturer, but will all follow the same principle.
    Hope this works!

  • Scan to SMB with lion 10.7

Hi i have a problem to send a scan with smb
i cant send a smb scanner to my mac
before the upgrade its work all
    pls help me

To determine your IP address you can view it in System Preferences -> Network and select Ethernet or Wireless depending on your configuration.  The connected interfaces will have a green dot indicating a connected status.
Alternatively, if you are good comfortable with Terminal Application you can try the following:
Make sure the IP address you are connecting to is correct by going to the MAMP server and running:
    ifconfig |grep inet |grep -v inet6
This should give a list of your ip addresses such as
    inet 127.0.0.1 netmask 0xff000000
    inet 10.0.1.110 netmask 0xffffff00 broadcast 10.0.1.255
With your ipad you will connect, in my case, to "http://10.0.1.110:8888/wordpress/" without the quotes.  Do not use the 127.0.0.1 address on your ipad.  You look like you may already understand this and were using 192.168.1.7 but it doesn't hurt to double check.
If that doesn't resolve the problem go into "System Preferences" -> "Security"
Select the firewall tab and click "Turn Off Firewall" for the duration of this test.  Turn the firewall back on as it protects your computer.
Then try to connect from you iPad again and it should work.
If that does not it may mean the web server is not listening on the correct interface.  If the above does not work there are many other paths.
You did turn on your firewall, correct?

  • 7520 scan to smb/cifs drive

I just bought a photosmart 7520.  One thing I'd like to do that doesn't seem obvious is to have it scan to an SMB share.  I do not run windows or macos in my network - just linux, so I'm not able to install the client software that comes with the printer.  Is it possible to set the printer up to save to an SMB (CIFS) share?  I'm asking this hoping that what's going on behind the scenes with your client software is that you're doing something like that and that it's just a matter of naming conventions, setting up dns properly or some such.

  • Scan to folder not working on Lion (smb)

I know I'm preaching to the choir here, I've searched endlessly and found the a number of people have the same problem. Just spend over an hour on the phone with Apple and they say its a problem with my scanner and to call HP...I love Apple but it's really sad that they are taking this approach in this situation, they need to step up and fix what they screwed up, or at least provide an easy workaround.
I've seen all the FTP solutions but my problem is that I'm just a home user with light network knowledge and once people start talking about Terminal I'm lost I have tried to follow a couple solutions but can't get them to work. So my plea to the community is does anyone or can anyone provide a "solution for dummies" set of instructions? I really need to get my scanner back up and running.
Really disappointed in Apple with this one...PLEASE HELP

    Welcome to the forums Gizmo2!
I noticed the issue you are having with scanning on your Windows system. These are my suggestions.
I would like for you to:
Make a couple of copies from the printer itself, this tests the hardware. There possibly could be an issue with the copier when is used to scan.
If the copies work fine, try opening up Microsoft Paint on your Windows PC and try scanning from there.
Run the HP Print and Scan Doctor and send me a screen shot or the details of any errors the tool picks up.
Try an alternate connection. Example, if you have your printer connected wireless right now, try ethernet or USB as a connection.
Try a Clean Boot and try scanning from the printer software on your desktop when the PC restarts.
Please respond with the results and which OS you are running if the problem continues!

  • Windows Service (SMB) does not start automatically

I have a client with an Xserve G5 running 10.4.8 with all software updates applied. Recently, the client decided to buy a new Ricoh multi-function printer, copier, fax machine. We've configured a share point on the server that the Ricoh uses to deposit the incoming faxes and scans. It works fine, but the downside is that it only works over SMB or FTP. I went with SMB (Windows Sharing) because of Apple's flakey implementation of FTP over the years.
The problem is that when the server gets rebooted -- due to power outtage, software update, whatever -- the Windows sharing does not turn itself on like all of the services do. I have to go into Server Admin and turn on Windows sharing manually.
Is there any way to get the Windows Sharing to turn on automatically at boot up like all of the other services do?

I had the exact same problem after applying the 10.4.8 combo update. This thread solved my problem:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=2962778&#2962778
In short, I had to disable the "Workgroup Master Browser" setting in Server Admin > Windows Service > Settings > Advanced. This is enabled by default, by the way.
