  • Hp envy m6-1125dx hinges falling apart

I bought this m6-1125dx about two years ago and the hinges started falling apart a few weeks ago. First the right hinge and now the left hinge. It broke the plastic around the screen and now it's just being held by those wires. I was okay with it but it seems like the added stress has broken half the screen of the laptop. I take extremely good care of my stuff and it's unacceptable that a laptop would just start falling apart after two years. Apparently this is a very common problem and HP hasn't even done a recall.
    HP can you fix this?

  • Refurbished MacBook Pro, coming apart at the front.

    Hello,
I recently purchased a refurbished MacBook Pro (the 2.0ghz 256mb VRAM model) which I received on Thursday. I'll start off by saying this is an awesome machine, the whine is essentially non-existant, the screen is perfect, and the heat seems to be just fine.
However the front faceplate (for lack of a better term) is seperating from the top part and the grey plastic bezel, as well the front latch button is very scratched up. It looks like it was a pretty poor repair job, but it's impossble to tell if it was Apple that messed it up, or if it was the previous owner.
Anyways, I was wondering if this was terms to be sent back in for repair? I understand that it's a reconditioned product, and I'd be fine with it having minor nick's and scratches on the outer case (which this one doesn't, aside form the front issue, I think everyone would think it was brand new).
If anyone has any input, or experience with requesting a return of a refurb, please respond. Thanks.
I still strongly believe that the reconditioned MBPro's are an awesome option for people to look into, especially those debating between the MB and the MBP, or those just looking to save some $$$.

The scratches you may have to live with, because it's
a refurbished product. What exactly is coming apart?
On my (non-refurbished) MBP, the front of the case
above the sleep light very slightly bulges out. That
seems to be nothing to worry about, just a slight a
fit-and-finish problem that won't get worse.
If, however, the top case is vertically coming apart
from the bottom, you should call AppleCare. Then the
MBP has not been put back together properly.
Thanks for the reply Tim. Yes it does bulge out at the front right above the latch, but it sticks out vertically as well so whenever I put some pressure on it, lik using the track pad for example, it makes a bad sqeaking noise.
I'll give AppleCare a call today and see what they can do about it.

  • HP 2000 Notebook PC Right Hinge Is Loose

A little over a year ago I purchased a HP 2000 Notebook PC.
Over the course of a few months I noticed a subtle popping or cracking noise whenever I opened my laptop. I didn't make much of it at the time, but now it's starting to become more noticable. What more I have also realized that the right hinge of my laptop cover is loose, which I believe is the sorce of the popping whenever I open my laptop screen.
I'm concerned in the event that the hinge breaks completely. To make matters worse I know my warranty expired earlier this year, but this issue came up before and it only just recently started coming to my attention that it might become a problem later down the line. My laptop is my livelihood and I can't live or do my work without it.
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.
Thank you, and let me know if you need more information.

  • IPHONE 3G-end of charging cable coming apart, free replacement?

    Hi All!
Got new iphone 3G this past April thru Best Buy. I noticed the end of my charging cable that plugs into the phone is coming apart. Phone still charges but the white cording is exposing the silver wires at the part that is connecting my charging conector for my phone to the cord. Can I go to best buy and get a new one? Is that covered under the 1 year warranty??
    Thanks much!!!

You arent alone here, I have both sides of the USB taped up because the silver wires are becoming exposed.
Thanks for the idea, i will exchange this!

  • IPhone charger coming apart at the phone end

Is there a recal on the iPhone charger available?  Mine is coming apart at the end that goes into the phone.  The insulation is separating from the plug.  Anyonw else seeing this?

When a battery-operated device shows suspicious warping or bulging, and it has never been dropped or mishandled, this could be a sign of a battery defect. Other signs, like excessive heat or poor battery life, are commonly seen in conjunction with warping. This is a potentially dangerous problem and the device should be opened and the battery removed in order to determine the cause.
It is important that you bring this to the attention of the device manufacturer. Li-polymer batteries are somewhat less susceptible to catastrophic failure than older Li-ion technology, but the very nature of battery technology means that they are still extremely high energy density devices.

  • Powerbook g4 right hinge broken pink wire broken...

well as the title states the right hinge on my powerbook is broke, and theres a pink wire broken. my screen is not viewable at all unless i put a flashlight to it. is this an easy fix at all...if i take it into a repair shop? just wondering if its worth the $ to fix.

It is not a trivial repair, since you report a broken wire.  The right hinge of the Titanium powerbooks carries the cable from the inverter to the backlight, so if your book is a Titanium model, that explains why you have no backlight.  Hinges themselves can be replaced.  I just swapped both hinges in my slightly older unit with the not-inexpensive steel replacements from Powerbook Medic.  We'll see how they hold up, compared to the aluminum originals.
With a broken wire, though, you are looking at replacing the inverter cable, which is even more involved than replacing just a hinge and might involve some serious disembowelment of the machine, as otherwise you will be likely unable to actually get the cable fished through the back of the upper case.  This was my "older" TiBook just before replacing the display about five years ago.  Note the important off-camera location in the blue arrow.
The situation can be handled, but not without serious effort.

  • Pavilion g6 Broken Right Hinge

I've had my G6 for almost a year and my right hinge is slowly breaking  off from the body. It's getting to the point where I can't close the computer. I searched this topic and I got to a topic on these forums called "Pavilion g6 Broken Left Hinge" found here : http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Hardware-Upgrades-Replacements/Pavilion-g6-Broken-Left-Hinge/td-p/32133... and apparently this is a common issue with the G6s.  I can't seem to reply to that topic. This is depressing that I can't use my laptop to the point where I can't move it without the hinge being to the point of breakage.  If someone from HP can help me here, I'd be greatful.

    Hello djscoobydoo,

  • Hinge support for HP Envy 17 J103EL

Hi, I'm really sorry for my bad english, but I'll try to explain my problem as better as I can. In the back cover there are some plastic support for the right hinge that was broken in my laptop.Different shop said me that I can't buy replacement part, but now I can't use my laptop. In attachments some images in order to let you better understand. When, one year ago, I bought this notebook, this was one of the more expensive, and enthusiast notebook, is really scandalous the use of this kind of material in this notebook.
    What can I do?

  • Hp envy laptop coming apart

I can't believe both the HP Envy laptops I bought less than a year ago have come apart.  The hinge on the left side have seperated.  Once of them has completely come loose.
I bought one for my daughter to take out of state for college, purposely bought what I thought was a great computer only to have the same thing happen to hers.  It's her freshman year, can't believe this has happened.
I rely on mine when I work from home, I'm afraid to even open it!!
The one I own is so far gone, I doubt it could even be repaired.
    What a piece of junk!!!!!!!
I have always owned HP, guess it's time to move on....................

  • Hinge Falling Apart

Yesterday my hinge started falling apart. This machine has never been dropped or over-extended before. I was told by the Apple Store today it must have been dropped and would not be covered under warranty. However (like many others I've seen claim the same thing, on the internet at least) my machine has never been dropped or mishandled, it sits on my desk. The majority of people also claim this problem has happened on the right side of their machine, as it has on mine, which leads me to believe this is a manufacturing issue.
I was asked to call Apple Care, buy when I did they said in essence "whatever the Apple Store said is what you will hear from us".
So I was told to call Customer Relations tomorrow. I just thought I should log my situation in here in case it can aid in bringing attention to this problem.
    Some pics of my machine

  • Right Hinge loose - Self Repair?

    Hello All!
So I've just noticed that the hinge on the Right side of my display is loose - by that I mean the left side is solid, and the right side of the display can be moved "up and down" at the level of the hinge.
It's not that that bothers me... it's the fact that it makes a "clicking noise" if i move the computer on my lap (oh... I dare use it on my lap)... Like to pick it up or to reposition it.
What it seems like is a loose hinge screw ( there are T6 screws under there below the topcase) that could be loose.
Any of you guys "self repair" this issue? Seems as simple as removing the top case and tightening that screw.
Please feel free to chime in whether you think I should give it a shot, or let the pros handle this seemingly simple technical issue.
But if I wait to go to an apple store, I'm going to ask for a new display as it is... I'm noticing a few more dead/stuck pixels... just to make the entire repair worth my time.
Thanks in advance for the suggestions.

I had a problem with a very early titanium powerbook, the small hinge pins under the plastic cover need to be carefully removed just, do one side at a time. You might find that once you have removed the screws holding one side of the hinge that you cannot move it (seized)Gently grip the plate holding the hinge pin with a suitable pair of pliers and tease it apart. one drop of a light machine oil and replace.don't tighten the screws holding the plate to tight as the head will come of.Also do the same to the other side. The pin had got so stiff that there was movement of the keyboard edge which had cracked and if left in this state much longer would have cracked the circuit board to which it is also screwed through. Hope while looking at your computer that this makes sence. Dave
